The January-April Mini Catalog will be going live on January 7th. Today I'm sharing a new bundle called Beautiful Butterflies. This card is my project for the Tutorial Medley group, so I'll also include a free tutorial download for you.
This bundle consists of the Beautiful Butterflies stamp set and the Beautiful Butterflies Hybrid Embossing Folder that include the Beautiful Butterflies dies.
The card uses the masking technique. All the measurements and directions are on the tutorial. To download click Download Beautiful Butterflies - December 2024. One more hint: Use our adhesive sheets on one side of the Basic Black card stock to turn those butterflies into stickers. They are so easy to apply!
Here are a couple more photos of the card.
Here is a listing of some of the products used with this card. Put them on your shopping list since they aren't available until January 7th.

Do you love a great shaker card? I thought that the church from Yuletide Village just needed a sky of snowflakes. Let's make it all a little magical.
With the little trick of using one of the Stampin' Up!'s Clear Medium Envelopes, making this card is a snap!
The base of this card is Thick Basic White 4 1/4 x 11. Score and fold at 5 1/2. Don't forget to burnish the fold with a Bone Folder.
I'm using the Winter Meadow Designer Series Paper. This paper is a carry over from last year's Sept.-Dec. Mini Catalog. It's so pretty. For the front of the card cut the paper at 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. It will cover the entire front of the card. Should the white of the card base show either on the side or the bottom, give it a little haircut with the trimmer. If the paper extends beyond the base, then give it a little haircut. Turn the paper over and trim with snips next to the card base. You could just a trimmer.
The designer paper for the insert is from the Winter Meadow pack as well. Cut it to 3 x 4 7/16. That's just a little under 4 1/2. I want the paper to fit tightly in the clear envelope. We'll get to that.
You'll also need a piece of Basic White 3 x 3 3/4. Stamp the church on this paper using Memento Black. Leave room at the top to get in the steeple. The lines to each side of the church showing the hillside will not reach to the sides of your paper. When you cut out the church imagine that the lines go on out to the edge. Color the church with blends. I used Light Mossy Meadow, Light Cherry Cobbler, Dark Daffodil Delight, and Light and Dark Smoky Slate. Color the trim in the darker shade. Once cut, glue the church to the bottom of the designer paper. Use the glue sparingly, but at the same time you want to secure the edges.
Cut the end of the clear envelope at 4 inches. Slip in the church layer. It should be tight.
You will add in the White Loose Snowflakes on top of this layer. I did notice that I had some snowflakes that were broken. I took those pieces out, or you can go through them before you add them. Turn to the back and fold down the extra envelope. Tape that down. I used regular tape. It won't be seen.
Add Tear and Tape around the edges of the back. Add to the center of the card front.
The saying is from the Sparkling Snowflakes stamp set. Use the Basics Wow! Embossing Powder to white emboss the saying on Pretty Peacock card stock. Cut using the Autumn Leaves dies. Of course you want to add a few snowflakes to the panel. Glue or use Seal to add it to the card.
I decided to make a video for you.
Thank you! This kind of shaker is easy! I hope you'll try it.

Welcome to the NC Demo Blog Hop for October of 2024. I'm so happy to have you! Our theme for the is Let's Get Scrappy! We all have them, bits and pieces of cardstock, Designer Series Paper and other specialty paper that we just can't throw out because we are going to need it for a project someday. Well, that day has come! Today you'll see some great ways to use that paper! If you are just starting on the hop, please visit everyone on the list. NC is proud of it's talented stampers. You may have come from Tina Lesson. Her projects are always impressive!
Today I'm using the Bargello technique. When Tracie, our hop coordinator, talked about the theme of the hop, she mentioned Bargello. I had never heard of the term. I had to investigate. It's a very interesting technique and I'll have a video later in the post. Here is my card.
For my card, I'm using the Seasons of Elegance Designer Series Paper. It's so pretty! I want to use every bit of it! The Bargello technique uses strips of paper to make these little squares, well, technically here they are rectangles of paper. Can you imagine gluing all of those papers into place? It's really quite ingenious and not hard at all!
The base of this card is Cherry Cobbler 4 1/4 x 11. Score and fold at 5 1/2.
I also cut a piece of typing paper 6 x 6, but any kind of paper can be used.
I began with strips of the designer paper that were 3/4 x 6. I ended up using 4 of each strip in Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler, and Pretty Peacock. I cut a piece of Adhesive Sheets to just a little under 6 x 6. Begin to remove the backing of one side of the adhesive sheet and adhere as straight as possible to one side. Once satisfied remove the backing little by little pressing as you go until all of the adhesive is down. Peal away the backing beginning at one side a couple inches and then begin placing the strips making sure that the first strip is super straight. I made a abc pattern of Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler , and the Pretty Peacock. Pull back more of the backing as you fill the space until the entire paper is covered. Just butt each piece up the the piece before.
Trim the paper of any sticky that may be at the edges making sure to cut straight.
Turn the paper so that you'll be cutting through all of the strips. In other words, the strips will be perpendicular to the top of the trimmer. Cut each strip at 1/2 inch. Let me take this time to say that you can choose how big your strips will be. I started with 3/4, but you can increase that or make it smaller. The same can be said for the second strip cutting. I saw some beautiful samples on Pinterest that even made the second set of strips at varying sizes. I felt that the pattern of the paper was busy enough.
Cut a piece of paper 3 x 4 1/4. I used Basic White, but any paper will do. You could even use typing paper for this if you wish. Cut Adhesive Sheets just a little smaller than this size. I cut it a little smaller to help not have extra adhesive everywhere. Add the Adhesive Sheet in the same manner as above. When you begin to add the new strips you've made, make sure again that it is very straight. Add the first strip along the longer side at the left. For the next strip move it up or down. You'll align the strips so they match in size, but the colors side by side will be different. Continue, moving the next strip up or down until the paper is filled. Trim around the edges to cut to the 3 x 4 1/2 size. Glue this to a piece of Pretty Peacock card stock cut to 3 1/4 x 4 1/2.
Add this layer to the center of the card front with Foam Adhesive Sheets cut to 3 x 4 1/4.
Using the Metallics Wow! Embossing Powders, emboss the happy birthday from the Attention Shoppers stamp set. Cut around the embossing with your trimmer. Cut leaves using the Autumn Leaves dies from the Seasons of Elegance paper and Gold Foil. Add the leaves to the back of the little banner.
I used the Gold & Silver 1/8 " Combo Pack to add some gold ribbon near the bottom of the focal layer.
Adhere the banner on top.
Embellish with the Drusy Adhesive-Backed Embellishments.
For the inside use a piece of the Crumb Cake Seasons of Elegance paper 3 1/4 x 4 1/2. Add a strip near the bottom. The sentiment is embossed and is from the Attention Shoppers stamp set.
Here is the video for you. Hope it clears up any questions you might have. If this technique is new for you, I hope you will try it!
Thanks so much for joining me. Don't forget to complete the hop. Frances Wagner is up next. Seeing her project is a must!
I'll be sharing my card and tutorial for the Tutorial Medley private Facebook group. We are a group of demonstrators working together. Each of us creates a card and writes a tutorial to go with it every month. Our theme this month is Masking. I'm excited to see the creations for this theme! There are so many different techniques for masking. Here is my card using Sparkling Snowflakes. Our tutorials are combined and we can use them as we wish. I use mine to send to my Luv 2 Create team, my class attendees, and my customers. I just want them to know I appreciate them! They'll go out before the end of the month.
Before I go on, let me give you a word of advice. If you use the White Loose Snowflakes on page 33 of the Sept-Dec Mini, please replace the lid and/or set the container back from the edge of your workspace. You might wonder why I would say this. Have you played 1 million tiny snowflake pick-up? I may have exaggerated the number.
Hello! Hello! Are you a shopper? If I'm being honest, I would have to say that I am NOT. But when it comes to Stampin' Up!, yes I am a shopper. I bought this bundle for one purpose. You won't see it today. Check back on Sunday,August 18th and the reason will be revealed. We made this card in class recently.
What is it about that So Swirly embossing folder that I love so much? Well, it's just so cute!
This card has a base of Thick Basic White 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored and folded at 4 1/4. Be sure to burnish the fold with a Bone Folder so that it is nice and scrisp.
Next, take a layer of Basic White 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 and run it through the Cut & Emboss Machine with the So Swirly EF. Glue this layer to the card front.
I'm using the Unbounded Beauty Designer Series Paper for the circle on the card. Cut the circle using the Spotlight on Nature dies. I think it's OK to go ahead and glue the circle to the card on the lower right of the card.
The purpose of the circle was to ground my shopping cart. Cut the shopping cart from Basic Black. For the upper part of the card, add some Ahesive Sheets to one side of the card stock. This allows me to make the cart into a sticker. You can do the same for the undercarriage. I didn't but either way.
Let's talk about the gift bags in the buggy. They show a technique called paper piecing. First stamp the bags on Basic White in Memento Black ink. There are three bags in the cart and one is added to the inside of the card. Stamp four. Now pick out papers from Unbounded Beauty that you would like to have on your bags. Stamp the gift bag on these patterned papers again in Memento Black.
Cut out the bags for each. Cut on the black line or even to the outside of the line but in the line. That makes sense. Include the handle for the bag. The tissue paper will be cut off. For the handle, I cut through one side of the handle and then cut around the inside of the handle. Glue the cut out to the bag that was stamped on Basic White. The handle will not show that it has been cut on that one side. The cut out should fit perfectly. Adjust the handle if needed so that it fits in the lines. You won't be able to tell which black line belongs to the white or to the designer paper.
Complete all of the bags and cut them out with the Attention Shoppers dies.
Remove the backing on the cart making it sticky. Arrange the bags as you wish and place the cart over them. Rearrange if necessary and then stick down the cart. Very carefully lift up the cart and bags. The sticky of the cart is now on the bags or part of them. Add glue behind the bags. Place the cart and bags onto the pink circle. Add the undercarriage of the cart by removing the adhesive sheet or adding glue.
Stamp the saying from Attention Shoppers in Memento Black on a 1/4 inch strip of Basic White and trim. Glue to the buggy.
Add Tinsel Gems Four Pack embellishments.
Here's the inside of the card.
There you go. You are ready to shop. Add in a gift card and it's perfect! The colors in the Unbounded Beauty DSP just make me happy.
