Neat Card Layout to Show Both Sides of Your Designer Series Paper

Are you like me?  I tend to hoard my designer series paper.  Sometimes it's so hard to cut that stuff!  Today I'm sharing a card layout that I got from Rachel Tessman of Stamp Your Art Out.  Rachel has a blog post here and a video and a PDF to download.  Her post features the Storybook Moments Suite Collection.  Go check her out.  Her post is also part of a blog hop featuring Storybook Moments.  Don't just desert me though.  I have a few different ideas.

If you look on page 8 of the Sale-a-Bration brochure you'll also see a card with this fun fold there using the Toadstool Gardens 6 x 6 free choice and the Terrific Toadstools bundle.  I want to show how versatile this layout fold can be.

DSP Fun Fold Bloom Impressions Spotlight on Nature dies Delightful Wishes Summer Splash Ribbon Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

For this card I used the Bloom Impressions Designer Series Paper from Sale-a-Bration.  It's one of the free choices with a $60 purchase.  I've also used the Spotlight on Nature dies and the Delightful Wishes bundle.  The saying is from the Storybook Friends stamp set.  I've also used the 2024-2026 In Color Resin Dots and the Summer Splash Bordered Ribbon.

Let's get to the measurements.  Cut your designer paper at 5 1/2 x 7 1/4.  Pay attention to your paper.  If it is directional, place it correctly to make the 7 1/4 cut.  Score at 3.

When folded this leaves the 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 usual size for a card.  To make the card stronger cut another base for the card that is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  I used Daffodil Delight for this card.  Glue this layer to the back of the card aligning with the folded side.  Trim at the right if needed.

Add a strip of Daffodil Delight, 3/4 x 5 1/2 to the short side.

I stamped my forsythia, I used Summer Splash, Peach Pie, and Pumpkin Pie.

On the inside of the card add a piece of Basic White 2 3/4 x 5 1/2.  Make sure this layer will not show when the card is closed.  I added some extra designer paper along the bottom and side of this layer.  Decorate as you wish.

For my next sample, I used the Country Lace Designer Series Paper.

DSP Fun Fold Country Lace Spotlight on Nature bundle Beautiful Butterflies dies Petal Pink Scalloped Ribbon Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

I also used the Spotlight on Nature bundle, stamp set and dies, Petal Pink Scalloped Ribbon, Beautiful Butterflies dies, and the Party Dots.

The measurements are the same.  I used Misty Moonlight for my stamping and for the butterfly body.  Petal Pink is the backing of the card.

Now I have a few samples using the Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper.  I also used the Painted Lavender bundle.  For my first samples I used Pretty Peacock for the decor and the backing of the card.

DSP Fun Fold Perennial Lavender Spotlight on Nature dies Painted Lavender dies Grow with Love Fresh Freesia Twisted Gold Thread Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

I used the Spotlight on Nature dies for the circle, Grow with Love for the saying, Gold Twisted Thread, and the Adhesive Backed Heart Sequins.  I think this is my favorite!  Notice that for these cards, I moved the decor down to the front.

DSP Fun Fold Perennial Lavender Spotlight on Nature dies Beautiful Butterflies dies Grow with Love Fresh Freesia Seam Binding Ribbon Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

For this card I used Gorgeous Grape for the backing of the card.  The circle is cut using the Spotlight on Nature dies from the designer paper.  The Beautiful Butterflies dies are used to cut the butterflies from designer paper.  The saying is from Grow with Love.  I've used the Fresh Freesia Seam Binding Ribbon, a free choice from Sale-a-Bration with a $60 purchase.

DSP Fun Fold Perennial Lavender Beautiful Butterflies dies Grow with Love Fresh Freesia Seam Binding Ribbon Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

For these last cards again using the Perennial Lavender DSP, I simplified my decor since the paper is so busy.  I added butterflies, the Fresh Freesia ribbon, and the saying.  The embellishments are Pecan Pie & Clear Ribboned Adhesive Backed Dots.

Fruit Salad Designer Series Paper, 3 Versions of an Easy Fun Fold

The Fruit Salad Designer Series Paper is a 6 x 6 pack that you can earn for free during Sale-a-Bration with a $60 purchase of stamping supplies that you want anyway!  I love SAB time!  We all love FREE!

FRUIT SALAD 6" X 6" (15.2 X 15.2 CM) DESIGNER SERIES PAPER

Today I have 3 versions of an easy fun fold using Fruit Salad.

Fresh Fruit DSP for SAB 2 Easy Fun Fold 3 Samples of Fold Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

These are so cute.  I'll give you the details on all three.  Your cardstock will measure 5 1/2 x 9 1/4.  Score at 1 1/2 and 2 3/4.  Then turn your paper around and score from the other side at 1 1/2 and 2 3/4.  You'll have a mountain fold at the large section and then a valley fold between the small sections on each side.  This kind of fold is great for papers that are 6 x 6.  It almost uses the entire sheet.  I chose to use a frame around my designer paper.  For that you'll need 2 pieces of your chosen card stock cut to 1 3/8 x 5 3/8.  For the center the measurment is 3 5/8 x 5 3/8.

For the patterned paper you'll need to cut off 3/4 from the bottom.  This is important if your paper is directional.  Save this paper for the decoration on front.  This leaves a measurement of 5 3/4 x 6.  Cut across the 6 inch side.  I wanted my paper to look like one continuous sheet.  I cut at 1 1/4, then cut at 3 1/2, and that should leave a section that is 1 1/4.  Keep these in order.  Glue them on the frame pieces.  Then glue to the corresponding areas on the card base.

All three cards are the same to this point except for the colors of card stock you choose.  Now I'll show each card and tell about the decor.

Fresh Fruit DSP for SAB Easy Fun Fold Fruit with Blue Background card Spotlight on Nature with Bananas Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

For the base of this card I used Lost Lagoon.  The frame pieces are Real Red.  Use the left over designer paper and turn to the back.  Cut a piece of Lost Lagoon that is 7/8 x 3 1/2.  Add the designer paper and trim the end.  Glue this to the card front.  I used the Spotlight on Nature dies to cut a circle from another piece of the Fruit Salad pack.  It had the bananas on it.  Cut a banana from that piece.  Add a little seal and weave the Linen Thread back and forth to your liking.  Add the banana with dimensionals.  The saying is from the Friendly Seagulls stamp set, another Sale-a-Bration free choice.  Stamp on a Basic White strip and cut down.  I used Pecan Pie ink.  Use dimensionals on the left and a little glue or glue dot where the saying goes over the banana.  The only stamping was the sentiment.

Fresh Fruit DSP for SAB 2 Easy Fun Fold Fruit with White Background card Starstruck EF for SAB Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

For this card use Daffodil Delight as the base and Real Red for the frame pieces.  The strip of Daffodil Delight is 1 x 3 1/2.  Run it through the Cut & Emboss Machine with the Starstruck Embossing Folder, another SAB free choice.  Glue to the card.  Cut out the pineapple from another piece of the Fruit Salad paper and add with dimensionals.  Tie a bow from Linen Thread.  Stamp the same saying in Real Red and trim.  Add the saying over the bow and onto the pineapple.

Fresh Fruit DSP for SAB 2 Easy Fun Fold Watermelon card Spotlight on Nature dies Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

For this card the card base is Garden Green.  I used Basic Black for the frame pieces.  I love that this paper looks like a watermelon.  All the pieces are cut the same, I just flipped some of the pieces.  For the decoration in the center I used the watermelon rind side.  Use the Spotlight on Nature to cut circles of Garden Green and Real Red.  I used the Baker's Twine Essentials Pack for the black twine.  The saying is stamped in Real Red.  Tip:  When placing the saying avoid having the dimensionals on the twine.  I used the Mini Dimensionals and placed them on the paper avoiding the twine.  It allows the saying to lay flat.

Fresh Fruit DSP for SAB Easy Fun Fold Inside for all 3 samples Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

For the back, cut a piece of Basic White 3 1/2 x 5 1/4.  The saying is from the Winterly Tree Tops stamp set.

NC blog hop Jan 2025

I'm featuring the Friendy Seagulls stamp set.  It's available for free with a $60 purchase.  Note that that can be from the mini, the annual, or online.  Any purchase helps qualify you!  I have two cards for you!

Friendly Seagulls Timeless Plaid Swirl EF Submarine Life Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Those seagulls are just so cute.  The base of this card is Thick Basic White 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4.

The strips are Boho Blue and each measures 1 x 4 3/4.  Use the Swirl embossing folder.  The tricky part is in their placement.  For me, having grid paper is key.  I placed my card base on the grid paper with a line drawn on the paper.  This shows me the center of the card at the top and bottom.  I used this for placement and then added the pieces on the side.  Another way is to place each side first equal distance from the sides, still using grid paper.  Now place the center strip so that the space is the same on each side.  So start center or start sides for good placement.

I used the Timeless Plaid from the mini near the bottom hoping to represent the sand.  It measures 1 1/2 x 4.  I used Foam Adhesive Sheets to add or use dimensionals.  Add a strip of Pecan Pie 1/2 x 4 3/4 that has also been run through the Cut & Emboss Machine with the Swirl embossing folder.  Notch the end.

Friendly Seagulls Card for SAB Timeless Plaid Swirl EF Submarine Life Close Up Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Stamp the seagulls using Memento Black on Basic White.  Use Pumpkin Pie and Smoky Slate Blend Combos to color.  Fussy cut.  That's probably the hardest part, but I do love to cut.  It's not that bad and our Paper Snips help a lot.  For this card I did not cut between the legs.  That made cutting around the beak the hardest part.  My center seagull is glued down.  The other two are glued at the bottom and have dimensionals at the top.

The saying is from the Submarine Life stamp set.  Stamp in Misty Moonlight and then trim apart.  Finish using the Iridescent Faceted Gems.  Let me also suggest the Purple Adhesive-Backed Sequins which are another free choice for Sale-a-Bration.

I couldn't stop there so here is my second card.

Friendly Seagulls SAB Fun Fold Floral Delight DSP Attention Shoppers Linen Thread Country Wood DSP Greetings of the Season dies Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

It's an easy fun fold.  The base is Thick Basic White 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Score at 2 1/8 and 4 1/4.  Fold in the center and then fold back at the other score line.

Friendly Seagulls SAB Fun Fold Floral Delight DSP Attention Shoppers Linen Thread Country Wood DSP Greetings of the Season dies Card Open Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Now I have to say that when I finished this card it made me think of Snoopy.  It was a dark and stormy night.

For the backing strips I used Azure Afternoon.  You'll need 3 of them measuring 2 x 5 3/8. Set them aside.

I worked on my strips of designer paper all in one piece and then cut them apart.  That way the scenery follows across the card.  Cut a piece of white or anything 5 1/4 x 6.  If you try this just be ready to play around with it.

Friendly Seagulls SAB Fun Fold Floral Delight DSP Attention Shoppers Linen Thread Country Wood DSP Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

The sand is from Floral Delight.  Stamp the rocks and seashells randomly in Pecan Pie.  This piece of paper was 1 x 6.  Glue at the bottom.

The paper for the sky is from the Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper.  It's 1 1/4 x 6.  Stamp birds from Friendly Seagulls In Memento Black along this paper.  Glue at the top.

The ocean paper is from the Country Woods Designer Series Paper.  The length of your paper should be 6 inches.  Tear strips.  Tear the paper toward you so you'll have a white edge.  I wanted waves so I tore the paper with up and down spaces.  You can also calm down your water if you wish.  I added starting at the top and working down.  When adding the seagull on the water leave some space to insert it.  Note:  The water at the bottom will need to be torn at both sides so the sand will have the waves coming in.

Trim any paper extending over the left of the white paper.  Look at the length top to bottom and trim to fit on the Azure Afternoon strips.  Now cut strips that are 1 7/8 wide.  Glue these to the Azure Afternoon.  Keep them in order so your scenery flows.  Glue to the base.

Stamp the seagulls in Memento Black on Basic White and color.  Fussy cut.  These seagulls have been cut between the legs.  You can compare the two with the first card and see what you like best.  Is it worth it to you to make those extra cuts?  Add your birds.  Notice one of the seagulls is partially on the inside part.  Just playing with it!

Friendly Seagulls SAB Fun Fold Floral Delight DSP Attention Shoppers Linen Thread Country Wood DSP NC Demo Blog Hop Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Add the seashells and rocks on the inside.  The saying there is from the Attention Shoppers stamp set stamped in Misty Moonlight.

The saying on the front is from Friendly Seagulls.  Cut it out using the Greetings of the Season dies.  Add a knot using two strands of Linen Thread tied together and place over the hole of the tag.

Gift Card Holder Fun Fold Part 2 with the Memorable Blooms Bundle

On my last post, I shared a Gift Card Holder Fun Fold using the Floral Delight Designer Series Paper.  You can find that post by scrolling down.  I had viewed a video showing the fold and felt like I could make the card.  I came out with a card that worked and was OK, but it was not made according to the video.  I promised to made another card and here it is.

Memorable Blooms Gift Card Holder Front Starburst EF Memorable Blooms bundle Rhinestone Basic Jewels Silver and White Sheer Ribbon Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

I'm using the Memorable Blooms bundle for this card.  My base is Blackberry Bliss 5 1/4 x 11.  Score this at 4, 5, 5 1/2, 6, 6 1/2, 7.  Begin with the score line to the right and fold the rest back making sure everything is straight.  Now accordion fold all of the other score lines.

This is how it will look.

Use Tear & Tape Adhesive.  Cut two pieces about 3/4 inches long.  Put one at each end in the skinny areas.

Memorable Blooms Gift Card Holder Holder after adding Tear and Tape short piece at each end Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Remove the backing and stick together.  There is room for a gift card (I put a business card) in the middle of the space.

Turn the card over to the back.  Place a length of Tear & Tape as pictured.

Memorable Blooms Gift Card Holder From back of card Tear and Tape Close Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Fold the far score line over to the score line just above the Tear & Tape.  It will look like this.  This is the back of the card.

Memorable Blooms Gift Card Holder From back of card Closed Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

The folded card is 4 x 5 1/4.  Cut a piece of Fresh Freesia 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  Glue the card to the center of the freesia.

To decorate the front of the card, cut a piece from the Bloom Impressions Designer Series Paper.  This paper is one of the free choices with a qualifying purchase during Sale-a-Bration.  The size is 3 3/4 x 5.  Run it through the Cut & Emboss Machine with the Starstruck Embossing Folder.  That folder is also a free choice during SAB.  Glue to the card front.

Memorable Blooms Gift Card Holder Front Starburst EF Memorable Blooms bundle Rhinestone Basic Jewels Silver and White Sheer Ribbon Close Up Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Use the Memorable Blooms dies.  Cut the hexagon piece and the detailed hexagon piece from Blackberry Bliss cardstock.  Cut at the same time.  Make sure that the center piece is equi-distant within the large hexagon.  Go back and forth in the Cut & Emboss Machine.  Get out all the little pieces and glue the hexagon on the front.

Cut the large leaf stem from Old Olive cardstock.  I had a scrap that already had some Adhesive Sheet on one side so I used that.  Pull off the backing and stick it right on.

The flower stamp is from Memorable Blooms.  Stamp on Basic White in Memento Black.  Color using the Bubble Bath, Fresh Freesia, and Old Olive Blends Combos.   Cut out using the die from the die set.  Adhere to the card front.

Stamp the saying in Blackberry Bliss on a white scrap.  Trim around it with paper snips.  Fold over a 3 in length of the Silver and White Sheer Ribbon and add to the card lower right with glue dots.  Add the saying with glue dots.

Add some of the Rhinestone Basic Jewels on the card.
