Spring Blessings Birthday and a Free Tutorial

The new Spring Blessings stamp set on page 19 of the January-April Mini has a lantern stamp.  I don't know what these are called.  When I googled floating candle lanterns, I did get some images of these among other things.  I think I'm putting this on my bucket list.  I want to see a launching of these lanterns!  Here's my card.  It is inspired by a card on page 19.

This is the project I created for my Tutorial Medley group.  This is a group of SU demonstrators.  Each of us creates a card and tutorial and add them to the group.  Then we all have access to all of the tutorials.  I use mine to send to my Luv 2 Create Team and to my customers.  Today I'll share my tutorial for this card free to all of you!

Besides using the Spring Blessings stamp set, the background paper is from the Enjoy the Journey Designer Series Paper.  It's also one of the choices for Sale-a-Bration until the end of February with a $50 order. To order use #160586.  For a SAB choice use #164425.  The clouds are from the Greatest Journey dies.

Since I have the tutorial all written out, I'm not typing it all again.  I'll just give you the download link. Download Spring Blessings Tutorial Medley  Enjoy!

I'll leave you with a few more pictures of my card.

Spring Blessings and Paper Piecing

I  love those two girls on the Spring Blessings stamp set from the January-April Mini.  I decided to try a little paper piecing technique to dress them in my card.

Spring Blessings Dandy Designs DSP Dainty Flowers DSP Blends Linen Thread In Color Opal Rounds Paper Piecing Technique Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

The base of this card is Fresh Freesia cut to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  Add a piece of Fresh Freesia checked paper from the Dandy Designs Designer Series Paper.  This paper is free during Sale-a-Bration with a purchase of $100.  It measures 4 x 5 1/2.

I used a piece of Basic White to build my scene.  It was cut to 4 x 5 1/4.  I stamped the girl on the right in Memento Black.  Next I stamped the garland of flowers.  Then add the second girl so that her hand touches the garland.

Color the girls' skin with the one of the Natural Tones Stampin' Blends Collection.  The hair for both girls was colored with the Light Daffodil Delight and then Light Crumb Cake was added to it.  The girl on the left has Light Soft Succulent leaves in her hair.  The girl on the right has Light Fresh Freesia flowers in her hair.

For the dresses, the paper for the girl on the left is from Dandy Designs.  The paper for the girl on the right is from Dainty Flowers, another free offering from Sale-a-Bration.  This one only needs a $50 purchase.  Add a piece of Adhesive Sheets a little bigger than the dress to the back of both papers.  Stamp the girls in Memento Black.  Cut out the dresses with Paper Snips.  Cut right on the line.  There is a little forgiveness for this technique.  That black line should line up with itself, but cut carefully.  Remove the backing of the adhesive sheet and stick carefully lining it all up.  Don't forget that little piece of sleeve for the girl on the left.

Stamp the two rabbits in Soft Suede ink.  Color with Light Crumb Cake.  Add the flowers stamped in Memento Black.  Color with the Fresh Fressia Combo Blends and Light Soft Succulent.  Color the Garland with the same colors.  Stamp the grass with Soft Succulent Ink.

Use Blending Brushes to add Soft Succulent to the grassy area.  Add Balmy Blue for the sky.  Keep the colors very light.

Trim around the scene that you have made.

Run some Linen Thread around the card two times.  I taped the ends to the card front under where my scene will go.  Add the scene to the center of the card.  Be careful not to place dimensionals on top of the thread.

Stamp the saying from Spring Blessings in Fresh Freesia on a scrap of Basic White.  Punch with the Label Me Fancy punch.  Add some Seal to the back of the saying layer and add some Linen Thread so that it will show beyond the saying.  Add dimensionasl again.  Do not place them over the thread.

Finish with some of the 2021-2023 In Color Opal Rounds.

For the inside of the card add a 3/4 x 5 1/4 strip of designer paper.  Stamp another bunny and color.

A Duo of Fragrant Flowers and Favored Flowers Designer Series Paper

I thought I had a great idea for a card using the Fragrant Flowers stamp set and the Favored Flowers Designer Series Paper.  I didn't like it.  I am not a metallics kind of person and the idea included gold embossing- a lot of gold embossing.  So today I have 2 cards for you.  It's a combination that tries to downplay the gold.

Fragrant Flowers Cards Favored Flowers DSP for SAB Blackberry Bliss Paper Snips Gold Embossing Card Duo Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Here are the two.  It started as the top card embossing with the bottom card center.  So what do you think.  To tell the truth I'm just not sure.

Fragrant Flowers Card Favored Flowers DSP for SAB Blackberry Bliss Paper Snips Gold Embossing Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

This card has a base of Blackberry Bliss, 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  Stamp around the edges of the card front with the large flower from Fragrant Flowers in Versamark.   Cover with gold embossing powder and melt with the Heat Tool.

The center piece is cut using the Scalloped Contours dies.  Cut a flower from the Favored Flowers DSP.  Use the Fragrant Flowers dies or your Paper Snips to cut it out.  Glue or add the flower with dimensionals.  The saying is stamped in Blackberry Bliss on Fresh Freesia card stock.  Fussy cut around the words and glue to the card.

Fragrant Flowers Favored Flowers DSP for SAB Blackberry Bliss Paper Snips Piecing Together Parts of Flowers Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

For this card stamp around the outside part of the front of the card with the same flower but in Blackberry Bliss.

Cut some of the Favored Flowers paper out with the Deckled dies.

Cut out some flowers with paper snips.  You won't find this exact group of flowers.  I cut from scraps.  A couple of the flowers were even from the edges of the paper.  I tried to place them together in the middle of the layer.  Just play with it.  Them them after you have them together with dimensionals.

Cut some of the leaves and buds from the Distressed Gold Specialty paper in the annual catalog.  Add them with glue  wherever you think they should go.

Stamp the saying as on the first card and cut around the words.  Glue.

For both card the same inside works quite well.

The sayings are from the Beautiful Thistles stamp set.

That's it.  What do you think?  I'm so glad you stopped by today.

Favored Flowers Designer Series Paper in 3D

It's Sale-a-Bration and FREE is the key word.  The Favored Flowers Designer Series Paper can be earned for free with a $50 US order.  You can go to my online store right here!  The paper is gorgeous and so is my card.  Even if I do say so myself!

Favored Flowers DSP 3D Spring Blessings Simply Scored Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

I used the Simply Scored to add interest to my card.  It doesn't show well in this picture so here's another one.

Favored Flowers DSP 3D Spring Blessings Close Up to Show Score Lines Simply Scored Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Use Thick Basic White cut to 4 1/4 x 11, score at 5 1/2 and burnish the fold with a Bone Folder.  Make sure you determine which will be the front of the card.  You will score from the back so that the lines will show better (embossed rather than debossed).  I went over 1 inch and then made 5 score lines in a row.  Do the same in the other direction.

Favored Flowers DSP 3D Card Spring Blessings Simply Scored Close up of Layered Flowers Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Use the Fragrant Flowers dies to cut out 3 of the double Calypso Coral and Petal Pink flowers.  The die does leave a line of black around the cut out.  Use one of the cut outs as the base of the flowers.  For the other 2 cut the flowers out as singles.  You'll be layering the flowers.  Crush the flowers in your palm, open out, crush again.  Repeat as needed.  Add the flowers with a dimensional in the middle.  Curl and play with the second layer before adding the third.  I added a mini dimensional in places where I thought they were needed.  In some places I pushed the layer a little in places here and there.  Just play with it.

The bottom layer is added to the card with dimensionals.

The saying is added just below the score lines.  Stamp it in Mossy Meadow.  It's from the Spring Blessings stamp set found in the January-April Mini.

This is definitely not a card to mail.  Save it for an in person meeting!

For the inside add another flower.  You can use the Fragrant Flowers dies to cut his one out as well.  The saying is from Beautifully Happy, a Sale-a-Bration choice.

Fragrant Flowers Sympathy Card and a Download Tutorial

For our Tutorial Medley group this month, our theme has been using brand new product from the January-April Mini and the Sale-a-Bration Brochure!  Don't you love using new stuff!  I'm using both of those catalogs for my card today.

Fragrant Flowers Card Favored Flowers DSP Metallic Mesh Ribbon Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

This card is beautiful if I do say so myself.  We'll be making this card in my easier class this month.  I had a request for sympathy cards.  We don't want to make them, but it's so nice to have a few made up to use.

Since I have the tutorial written, I won't go into all the details here.  To download, Download Fragrant Flowers Tutorial

I will post a few more pictures for the card.
