NC Blog Hop for June Challenge Card
June 25, 2023
Welcome to the NC Blog Hop for June. This month we have a challenge to include the following: Use an In Color, layering, embellishments, fun fold, and masculine. I'm so glad that you are here. You may have come from Tonya Bower's blog. I'm sure she had a great project! If you are starting here, please visit everyone on the list. You'll be so glad you did!
When I first read this list, I thought this would be impossible. I do love a challenge though, and I think I've made a card that has it all! I'll be highlighting the Let's Go Fishing Designer Series Paper. Before I go on let me remind you that select designer papers are 15% off through June. June is almost over and I don't want you to miss out. I decided to get the Let's Go Fishing paper as part of the sale. I don't know anyone who fishes. I challenged myself to make a pretty card using only the designer paper without the stamp set or dies. Our paper is so versatile, beautiful, and coordinated to our other products. Before I go on, I want to stress that having the Gone Fishing stamp set and dies would have made my task easier. I'm so tempted to buy them, but again, I don't know anyone who fishes.
This fun fold card is a gift card holder. In this picture the focal piece does not appear to be centered. It is. I'm sorry about that. I'm getting ready to go on vacation so I don't have time to redo my picture. There's lots to do and I'm also getting ready for a class.
This card has a base of Pebbled Path measuring 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. That's my In Color. The diagonal stripe is part of the Let's Go Fishing pack. It is cut to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8. Glue.
Now we'll work on the fun fold part of the card. Cut another piece of Pebbled Path 4 1/4 x 9 3/4. Score this at 3 1/4 and 6 1/2. Fold this like an accordion. First make a mountain fold and then a valley fold. Use a Bone Folder to burnish the folds. One part will be glued to the center of the base and then the rest accordions up. Don't glue until we have decorated it. The parts will all be the same size.
Here's a picture of the card folded out.
Here's are different perspective.
First we'll decorate the front top part. Use a piece of designer paper measuring 3 1/8 x 4 1/8. Glue to the front. Cut a piece of Pebbled Path cardstock 1 1/4 x 3 1/8. Run this through the Cut & Emboss Machine with the Twisted Rope 3D embossing folder. Use a Blending Brush and the Pebbled Path ink pad to add a little color to this piece. It will help the embossing stand out. Glue this to the left.
The saying is from the stamp set Wildlife Wonder. Stamp in Pebbled Path on Very Vanilla. Cut using the Nested Essentials dies. I did cut first with the saying to the right of my saying. Cut again to shorten on the left. Replace the die and feel when it locks in to the stitching. Cut again.
Now get out the paper snips and start cutting. I cut out a lot of fish! Add some with glue and some with dimensionals. Some even run off the edge of the panel. That's a great way to use partial fish from the edges of the paper. I think I have one fish upside down, but we won't mention that, will we. Add dots from the 2023-2025 In Color Dots.
The center part of the fold is for your message. Add a piece of Very Vanilla measuring 3 1/8 x 4 1/8. Add a piece of designer paper cut to 1 1/2 x 3 1/8 to the left. Add another cut out fish.
For the gift card part, cut another piece of designer paper to 2 x 4 1/8. Use the Decorative Circle Punch to punch a little opening in the center of the top. That gives a place to help add and remove the gift card. Add some Seal or tear & tape around each side and the bottom of this piece. Add to the card. Add more fish cut outs! I stamped another saying from Wildlife Wonder on Very Vanilla and trimmed to add to the card. I didn't have a gift card, so I cut a piece of Very Vanilla from the Nested Essentials to add here.
Now glue the bottom piece (gift holder piece) to the center of the base made earlier.
So there you have it. I have a masculine, In Color, layered, embellished, fun fold! I hope you'll try it. I have to give credit to my friend Kaye for showing me a card she made with the fold. I had to go look it up! Thanks Kaye. Please go on to Tina Lesson's blog post. We all need those masculine ideas and we all love fun folds! Those are hard for me.
