One Horse Open Sleigh Designer Series Paper W Fold Card
July 10, 2023
Hello to you! We want to make the most of our 6 x 6 designer papers especially when the paper has beautiful scenes. It's such a shame to waste it. I have a fun fold for you today. I think it makes great use of the One Horse Open Sleigh DSP. It's a W fold. These cards make look complicated. They aren't.
I don't have a video for this card, but I did make a different W fold recently. I'll link that later.
The base of this card is Night of Navy 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, score and fold at 4 1/4. To add interest to the card, you will need to emboss the front and back covers of the card with the Timeworn Type Embossing Folder. Emboss the front with the card base open and then the back againwith the base open. This folder is directional so make sure the words are oriented in the correct way. Since both sides of the pages are embossed, some will be backwards. I don't think anyone will really look that close.
For the front of the card, Real Red cardstock measures 3 1/8 x 4 1/8. The designer paper is 3 x 4. You'll be able to make 2 cards with this measurement and you'll have 2 inches from the bottom to use. Layer the two and then add to the center of the front. On my sample I added this layer with dimensionals. This is a thick card, so you decide if you want that thickness.
Stamp the saying from the Brightest Glow stamp set in Real Red on a Basic White scrap. Notch the end. Add some silver trim from the Simply Elegant Trim under the saying. Add dimensionals around the trim, not over it. Cut a leaf in Old Olive using the Aspen Tree dies. Color with Wink of Stella and add with a dimensional on one side and glue on the other.
The dots on the front are left over dots from the Welcome Inn Paper Pumpkin July 2023.
For the inside, you'll need 4 panels. The Real Red measures 1 5/8 x 4 1/4. Remember that you need 4. Cut the designer paper along the bottom at 4 1/8. Now cut the paper at 1 1/2 three times. You'll have 4 panels of patterned paper that are 1 1/2 x 4 1/8. Glue these to the red panels being careful to keep them in order.
Cut a piece of Night of Navy the is 1 1/4 inches x 8 1/2. Score at 2 1/8, 4 1/4, 6 1/2. Fold so that the center score is a mountain fold and the other 2 folds are valley folds.
Add the panels to this strip. I wanted to add the panels to the center of the card top to bottom. So I laid out the 1 1/2 inch strip so that the center of it aligned with the dark center line of my Grid Paper. Then I figured out where the top of the panel would land if centered on the strip. I drew a line at that place so that the top of each panel would hit the line. Make sure the 1 1/2 inch strip stays in place. Glue the panels in the center of the score lines for its area. Also make sure to keep the panels in order so that the scenery continues.
To attach the strip to the card, center the entire open card so that its center is on the dark center line on the grid paper. Add glue to the back of the navy strip while it is folded closed. This would be on the bottom. Glue centered and make sure that it is straight. Add glue to the navy strip while closed. This would be on top of the strip. Close the card and let the glue dry a moment. When you open the card, all should be attached.
The saying on the inside of the card is from the Perched in a Tree stamp set. Stamp on Basic White in Real Red. Cut the top part with your trimmer. Fussy cut the word peace with your snips. Make sure that the first strip does not cross over the fold.
