Cards- Valentine's Day

Arrange a Wreath for Year Round Stamping

I've been stamping the last few days with the Arrange a Wreath bundle.  I've posted some of my samples the last few days.  I'll give you links to these a little later.  Today I have three cards that I want to share.  I'll talk just a little about each of them.  All feature the Arrange a Wreath stamp set and the Wreath Builders dies.

Arrange a Wreath Easter by Jo Anne Hewins

The base of this card is Flirty Flamingo.  I stamped around the edges with the dots stamp from the Comfort and Hope stamp set.  Stamp in Flirty Flamingo.

The Soft Sea Foam layer is 3 5/8 x 4 7/8.  The Whisper White layer is 3 1/2 x 4 3/4.

The wreath is stamped in Soft Sea Foam.  I used the Stamparatus for this to make sure I got a good image.  I also cut a wreath in Soft Sea Foam using the more detailed die from the Wreath Builders dies.

The colors for the eggs are Daffodil Delight, Highland Heather, and Flirty Flamingo.  There are two eggs on the stamp and the dies cut out both eggs at the same time.

Color Whisper Crinkled White Seam Binding with a Dark Flirty Flamingo Blend and tie into a bow.  Add with a glue dot.

The saying is from the Arrange a Wreath stamp set.

I added more dots in Soft Sea Foam just because.

Arrange a Wreath Valentines by Jo Anne Hewins

This card is on a base of Thick Whisper White 4 1/4 x 11, score, and fold.  Cover the front in Real Red Designer Series Paper from the Regal pack.  That piece would be 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.

You'll need one wreath cut using the leaves wreath in Shaded Spruce and another using the more detailed wreath in Just Jade.  Adhere with light glue around the ring only.  The Shaded Spruce is added first.

Cut the large valentine using the dies.  Add a little white scrap behind the LOVE cut out.  Attach with a dimensional.  Add a bow made using the Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding.

Stamp the smaller valentines using Real Red ink.  These also stamp and cut out 2 at a time.

Arrange a Wreath Fall Cards by Jo Anne Hewins

This card is on a base of Cinnamon Cider.

The Shaped Spruce layer is 4 x 5 1/4.  The designer paper is from the Flowers for Every Season 6 x 6 pack.  It measure 3 7/8 x 5 1/8.

The 2 wreaths are the same as the valentine card.

Colors used for the leaves are Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Shaded Spruce, Daffodil Delight, and Cinnamon Cider.  They are also stamped and cut out in pairs.

Add a Cinnamon Cider Ribbon bow.

The sign is stamped off 2 times Cinnamon Cider.  You will need to fussy cut this.  Add some of the ribbon so that it looks like it is hanging from the wreath.

Here is a picture of all four of my cards.  You can find directions for the Christmas card here.

Arrange a Wreath Seasons Cards by Jo Anne Hewins

So you see, this bundle is definitely a year round stamping bundle.  But really, you can put anything on a wreath.  I bet your imagination is going now!  It's a great way to use other stamp sets along with this one.

If also have a post showing the flowers in this set.  I have a beginner, a casual, and a stepped up avid version.  You can find that here.

Thanks for spending a little time with me.  If you need any supplies, I would love to be your demonstrator.

Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #597

Welcome to my post for the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #597.  This is a color challenge using Cherry Cobbler, Petal Pink, and Pool Party.

CCMC597

There's no stamping on the front of my card.  I used a punch and several die sets.  Let's get started.

CCMC#597 Heart Combo by Jo Anne Hewins

My card base is Petal Pink that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  Now cut another layer of Petal Pink that is 4 1/8 x 5 3/8.  Run this through your die cut machine with the Parisian Flourish 3D Embossing Folder.  Glue to the card front.

Using the Heart Punch Pack punch a Cherry Cobbler scalloped heart and a Petal Pink heart.

Cut 2 swirls from Pool Party using the Parisian dies

Cut the words love and you from Cherry Cobbler using the Well Written dies from the annual catalog.

Add the swirls first.  I used my Silicone Craft Mat, a piece of sponge, and Multipurpose Liquid Glue to add glue to the swirls.  Glue so that they extend to the top right and bottom left corners of the front.  Glue down the scallop heart.  Add the pink heart with dimensionals.  Glue on the love and the you using the same method as the swirls.

CCMC #597 Heart Combo Punch close up by Jo Anne Hewins

Punch 3 flowers with the Small Bloom Punch.  It's one of the free choices from Sale-a-Bration.  with a Sponge Dauber, sponge extra Pool Party color around the petals of the flowers.  Curl the petals with a Bone Folder.  Add a Champagne Rhinestone to the center of each flower.  Add to the heart with glue dots.

CCMC #597 Heart Combo Punch Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

There's stamping on the inside of the card using the Heartfelt stamp set.  Stamp the large lacy heart in Pool Party and the words in Cherry Cobbler.

Be Mine Valentine, Paper Pumpkin for January

Do you subscribe to Paper Pumpkin?  If you do, you know the joy of getting that little orange red box in the mail.  I don't look at any of the posts or spoilers online.  I want to be surprised!  So, spoiler alert.  Today I have some alternative projects for the Be Mine Valentine January Paper Pumpkin.  The neat part about this kit is that it coordinates with the Animal Expedition Suite found on pages 26 and 27 of the Annual catalog.  There is the Animal Outing stamp set, the Animal Friends Thinlits Dies, and the Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper.  Here's a video of the kit.

I made two of the treats.  They are so cute.  This kit has supplies to make 24 of these treats!  Wow!

The pillow boxes have designs on both sides so you can use either side.  Of course there are directions, but you can go rogue and do it your way.

I'd like to show you two alternatives for the kit.  I will be using some outside supplies.

Be Mine Valentine Paper Pumpkin for January alternate card 2 by Jo Anne Hewins

I absolutely love how this card turned out!  The card base is standard A2 size and is Lemon Lime Twist card stock.  The next layer is from the Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper in Basic Gray cut at 4 x 5 1/4.  Add a banner of the Lemon Lime Twist  patterned paper.  It measures 1 1/8 x 4.  Run this through the Big Shot with the stem from the Animal Friends Framelits Dies.  I had never noticed this framelit.  It's really neat.  Some of the leaves do not cut out completely.  Bend them up.  Use the Banner Triple Punch to notch the ends.  Roll the ends up a little with your Bone Folder.  Cut a frame from the pillow box using the Rectangle Stitched Framelits.  There will be  folds through the center of the frame, but they do not really show up.  Add the kangaroo from the kit on the outside of the frame.  Cut one of the paper hearts from the kit at an angle so that it appears to be stuck into the pouch of the kangaroo. Cut apart the chameleons and put one on each lower corner.  The rhino has been cut from the Animal Expedition paper using the Animal Friends Framelits. Add inside the frame.  I did fussy cut the branch from the designer paper.  The sentiment is from the Paper Pumpkin kit.  Stamp in Melon Mambo.  Add an enamel heart.

Be Mine Valentine Paper Pumpkin for January alternate card 1 by Jo Anne Hewins

This card has a standard base in Lemon Lime Twist.  Using the Paper Pumpkin stamp set, stamp the chameleon in the same color randomly around the outside of the front.  The Whisper White card stock measures 3 x 4 1/4.  Stamp the same chameleon in Pool Party around the outside of this paper.  The next layer is 2 1/2 x 3 3/4.  It is the Lemon Lime Twist paper from the Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper.  Add this layer with dimensionals.  Now adhere the inside of the rectangle cut from the card above using the Rectangle Stitched Framelits.  I used the Pool Party side.  The sentiment is from the Animal Outing stamp set.  Stamp on Whisper White in Blushing Bride ink.  The Whisper White rectangle is 1 1/2 x 2 3/8.  Add some the Blushing Bride enamel hearts around the sentiment.  You'll want to use dimensionasl to add this layer.  Add the chameleons from the kit.  Glue where the die cut is on the surface of the layer and mini dimensionals where it hangs over the edge.

Stamping Around the World Blog Hop for January

Welcome to the Stamping Around the World Blog Hop for January.  This is our first blog hop and I'm so excited!

Stamping Around the World Blog Hop

This amazing group of stampers from around the globe have joined forces to offer you a fabulous tutorial of 10 cards.  This is our first month.  I can definitely say that I'm very proud to be a part of this group.  We decided that you just might want to get to know us a little better.   This blog hop will be perfect!  I'll get back to the tutorial a little later.

Our theme this time will be to use the same stamp set we featured in the tutorial.  This way, you'll get yet another sample for the stamp sets used.  I used the Wonderful Romance bundle.  Here is my card for today.

Wonderful Romance sentiment card by Jo Anne Hewins

I wanted to try using the technique of using blends with gold embossing.  I love how this card turned out.  It isn't that hard, but it is a little time consuming.  You'll also need the Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies found on page 28 of the Occasions catalog.  The picture is stuck in a corner and might be easy to overlook.

Start with a card base of Shaded Spruce that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.

Cut a frame using the largest two rectangle dies and a 4 x 5 1/4 piece of Whisper White.  Set aside.

Take a piece of Shaded Spruce that is 4 x 5 1/4.  Rub the Embossing Buddy over the paper.  Stamp over this paper randomly with Versamark and the largest leaf cluster stamp.  Add Gold Emboss Powder and heat with the Heat Tool.  Now using the 2nd largest rectangle, and skip three to the next to cut a frame from this paper.

Stamp the sentiment from Wonderful Romance in Shaded Spruce in the center of a 2 1/2 x 4 Whisper White piece.  Cut using the smallest rectangle that you just used.

Add the Shaded Spruce frame to the card front centering as best as you can.  Now add the white frame on the outside.  I added this thinner one after the spruce to help keep it straight.  Put the last rectangle on the inside of the spruce frame.

Stamp 3 of the larger leaf clusters, 4 of the smaller leaf clusters, and 15 flowers in Versamark on Whisper White.  It's great to use up some of your white scraps.  Work in groups.  Stamp in Versamark, Gold Emboss Powder, and heat until all are done.  Use the Light and Dark Shaded Spruce and the Light and Dark Lovely Lipstick Blends to color these.  Cut out using the coordinating Wonderful Floral Framelits.  This is a lot to cut out.  This set of framelits does have 4 of the tiny flower dies so you can cut out a lot at one time!  Add these around the frame.  Don't cover up the beautiful embossing on the spruce frame.  I did put Mini Dimensionals under the outer leaf of the large clusters.  Glue the rest.  Add the flowers with glue dots.

This is so pretty in real life.

Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #544 Hey Love

Welcome once again to the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge.  Today we have a sketch.

CCMC544

I used the Hey Love stamp set for my card along with the Tranquil Textures Designer Series Paper.  Here is my card.

CCMC #544 Hey Love by Jo Anne Hewins

I love this little otter.  My neice Alison loves sea otters and I always think of her when I see them.  I think she would love this card.  Don't tell her, I just might send it to her!

The card base is Fresh Fig measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.

The next layer is Balmy Blue.  I used the Seaside Embossing Folder on this layer to make you think of the otter floating on the ocean.

Let's talk about the patterned papers in the background.  The wavy look paper in multiple colors measures 2 x 4 1/2.  The Mint Macaron paper is 1 1/4 x 3 3/4.  The Fresh Fig strip is 1/2 x 3 3/4.    There is a Tranquil Tide strip that is 1/4 inch wide that is just tucked in at each side.

CCMC#544 Hey Love close up by Jo Anne Hewins

For the circle, first cut the wavy Tranquil Tide paper.  In my mind this is sea weed.  You just may need to stretch your imagination.  I used the swirly die from the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits.  I hadn't used these in a while.  It's a little sad that we tend to forget the old stuff when the new comes in.  Glue this down to a piece of the Balmy Blue designer paper.  Cut using the second largest circle from the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  Cut a scallop circle using the Layering Circles Framelits.  This is also from the Tranquil Textures Designer Series Paper.  All the patterned papers on this card are from that pack.  Glue the big circles to the card.

Stamp the otter in Memento Black ink on Whisper White card stock.  Color the otter in Light and Dark Crumb Cake and just a little of the Light Soft Suede Blends.  I tried to use the Color Lifter a little on the stomach and face.  Color the heart with a Fresh Fig Stampin' Write marker, cut it out, and place in the otter's hands.  Cut out the otter and add him to the card with dimensionals.

For the saying, stamp on white scraps in Fresh Fig.  Cut around the words and add them to the banner.

Here is the inside of the card.  I used the same blend colors except I added some of the Light Balmy Blue Blend around the otter.

What a cute valentine this card turned out to be!  I'm really loving the Hey Love stamp set.  You can find a few other samples here and here and here.
