Cards-Thinking of You

Tutorial Medley CASE the Catalog

I have often said that our catalogs are the answer when you have lost your mojo.  They have such wonderful samples all over those pages.  The theme for the Tutorial Medley group is CASE the catalog.  That stands for Copy And Share Everything.  As stampers we tend to borrow from our catalogs, Pinterest, Facebook, or wherever.  I say go for it.  I  do recommend that you give credit if you can for ideas that are not your own.  My card today is a CASE of the Annual Catalog page 103.

And here is my CASE of the card.

I used the Thoughtful Journey 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper for this card.  I also used the Unbounded Love bundle.

I do have a tutorial for you to download for this card, so I won't go through all of the directions.

I love how this card turned out.  I think using the Thoughtful Journey paper with the Frosted Forest dies made the difference.  I also used it for the background of the tree and the strips of paper.

Here are a few more pictures of this card for you.

Bonus Days Redeem 2024

August is proving to be a very good Stampin' Up! month!

My card today is another fun fold that shows off our designer series paper.  I don't have a name for this fold.

Countryside Inn DSP Greetings of the Season dies Frosted Forest bundle Adhesive Backed Dragonflies and Birds Jo Anne Hewins

The card opens to look like this.

Countryside Inn DSP Greetings of the Season dies Frosted Forest bundle Adhesive Backed Dragonflies and Birds Fun Fold Card Open Jo Anne Hewins

Start with a piece of Countryside Inn patterned paper that is 5 x 11 1/2.  Check to see if there is a direction on your paper and cut accordingly if so.  Score the paper at 1 3/4, 4 3/4, and 7 3/4.  Fold so that the largest section will be eventually glued to a base.  The rest is zig zag or a W fold.

For this card, I glued the smallest section down on the next section.  This part shows the backside of the paper.  As I was deciding how to decorate this card, the trees made me think of the new Frosted Forest dies.  So, I made blue trees.  It's my card and I'll have blue if I wish!

The tag is cut from Basic White using the Greetings of the Season dies.  I cut the die that represents the leaves of the tree in Night of Navy.  Then cut the tree truck part in Balmy Blue.  Glue these pieces to the tag.  Glue the leaves first and then the tree trunk on top to imitate the trees on the patterned paper.

The saying is from the Frosted Forest stamp set.  I've only inked up the top part of the saying and trimmed it down.  Add a little adhesive line near the bottom of the tag and zig zag a little Linen Thread.  Add Mini Dimensionals in the adhesive line and attach the saying.

Attach Linen Thread to the top of the tag.  Take about a 5 inch piece of the thread and double it.  Stick it through the hole in the front of the tag.  Run the ends of the thread through the loop.

Add this tag with dimensionals.  On this card a part of my tag is over the folded DSP.  Make sure you only put the dimensionals to the left of that fold.

Decorate with some birds from the Adhesive Backed Dragonflies &b Birds.

The middle panel is cut using the Deckled Rectangles dies.  Decorate with a flower and leaf using the Country Birdhouse dies.  The flower is Balmy Blue and the leaves are Night of Navy.

Countryside Inn DSP Greetings of the Season dies Frosted Forest bundle Adhesive Backed Dragonflies and Birds Second Half of Card Jo Anne Hewins

The back panel of the card is another tag from the Greetings of the Seasons dies.  The saying is from the Courage & Faith stamp set.  Stamp in Night of Navy.  Add a bird over the hole in the tag and maybe another somewhere.

The base of this card is Night of Navy 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  There is a layer of Balmy Blue that is 3 7/8 x 5 1/8.  Glue the Balmy to the Night of Navy and then glue the folded card in the center of the Balmy Blue.

Now find someone who would love blue trees and send them this card!   Thank you very much!

Accordion Fold Card with Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper

Hello!!!  Today I have a great fun fold for you called the Accordion Fun Fold.  I first saw this card on Connie Stewart's Simply Simple Stamping.  Here is my rendition.

Perennial Lavender DSP Card Accordion Fun Fold Greetings of the Season dies Frosted Forest Pretty Peacock and Gold Ribbon Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

The Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper is beautiful!  This is a great way to showcase it.  The card opens up to this.

Perennial Lavender DSP Accordion Fun Fold Greetings of the Season dies Frosted Forest Pretty Peacock and Gold Ribbon Card Openned Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Isn't that gorgeous!!!  I love it!

The card base is Gorgeous Grape 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.

The next layer is Highland Heather 4 1/8 x 5 3/8.  Use the Cute Crochet Embossing folder.  This folder is just a little different in that the embossed part is a little lighter giving a more subtle look.  Sometimes you need that!  Glue together.

The next part of the card is also in Gorgeous Grape card stock.  It measures 4 1/4 x 8 1/2.  Score at 1, 3, 5 1/2, and 8.  Fold as you would for an accordion.  The largest section will be against the base of the card and fold from there.  Do not glue this down yet.

So let me give you the measurements of each of the sections beginning with the largest and then working your way left.  It won't matter exactly which design you put in each place, just make it please you.  I like the small card stock outlines for my layers.

Basic White 2 7/8 x 4 1/8.  Add a strip of DSP 1 x 4 1/8

DSP 2 3/8 x 4 1/8

DSP 2 3/8 x 4 1/8

DSP 1 7/8 x 4 1/8

DSP 7/8 x 4 1/8

When the card is folded up, there is a back section that is left.  I thought it needed to be covered in the designer paper as well that piece is 1 1/4 x 4 1/8

Perennial Lavender DSP Accordion Fun Fold Greetings of the Season dies Frosted Forest Pretty Peacock and Gold Ribbon Card Partially Openned Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

I used the saying from the Frosted Forest stamp set.  I was already on my desk.  Stamp in Pretty Peacock and cut out with the Seasons of Greetings dies.  Both of these products are in the Online Exclusives.  Add the tag with dimensionals.  Note that I stamped and cut the greeting so that the hole would be at the bottom.  Tie the ribbon around the closed accordion.  Tie so that the bow would be tied right in front of the hole.  When you know where you want the ribbon to be on this layer, glue it down in the center of the base.

Country Woods DSP and an Easy Fun Fold

Hello!  Do you like an easy fun fold?  Well I have one for you today.  It features the Country Woods Designer Series Paper.  I am a sucker for wood look papers!  If you are, I have some great news for you.  Coming on August 6, Stampin' Up! will begin a Designer Series Paper sale.  Select papers will be 15% off.  These are papers in the Annual Catalog.  Specialty papers are not included.

Get out your pen and paper and start your list.  Let me also tell you that Stampin' Up! will have a big order day on the 6th.  It's when demonstrators can begin their preorder for the September-December Mini.  I suggest you get your order in as early as you can.  Shipping might be a problem.  The sale lasts all month, but it's possible something might run out.  If you are wanting the Christmas paper Winter Meadow, order quickly!

Country Woods DSP Fun Fold Card Country Flowers Linen Thread Adhesive Backed Swirl Dots Nested Essentials dies Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create Stampin' Up!

I love these papers so much!  I had a hard time making myself cut the one with the stripes.  Do you ever have that problem.  Look how pretty it makes the card!  And, this card would be great for those masculine friends.  There are NO flowers on this card!

My base is Misty Moonlight cut 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, score at 4 1/4.  Cut off 1 1/2 inches from the front.  That's how easy to make it into a fun fold!  You might find it easier to cut 5 1/2 x 7 and fold at 4 1/4.

For the top front, cut your patterned paper to 2 5/8 x 5 3/8.

Country Woods DSP Fun Fold Card Country Flowers Linen Thread Adhesive Backed Swirl Dots Nested Essentials dies Inside of Card Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create Stampin' Up!

We'll go on to the inside of the card.  Cut a piece of Basic White to 2 3/8 x 5 3/8.  Stamp in Misty Moonlight using the Country Flowers stamp set.

The striped patterned paper is cut to 1 3/4 x 5 3/8.  The tiny strip is 1/4 x 5 3/8.  Place that paper last.  It's job is to cover up any spaces that could be left.

Country Woods DSP Country Flowers Linen Thread Adhesive Backed Swirl Dots Nested Essentials dies Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create Stampin' Up!

Use the Nested Essentials dies for the label.  I cut one from Basic White and another from the designer paper.  Stamp on the designer paper in Misty Moonlight ink.  Glue the two together.  I did this to make the layer a little heavier since it will extend beyond the front.  Add dimensionals to the top part of the lable.

Finish with a beautiful bow using our Linen Thread and some of the Adhesive Backed Swirl Dots.

That's all there is to it!  I told you it was easy.

Thanks so much for joining me today.  Now think about all the beautiful designer papers you could use to make this design of card.  Remember they just might be on sale August 6-31.  Hey! You might even have some Bonus Coupons to use.

Adoring Hearts CASE From Page 128 of the Annual Catalog0

I feel like I've been a little down on my mojo the last week or two.  When that happens, I go to one of the to give me a little inspiration.  As I was flipping through the card on page 128 caught my eye.

IMG_20240727_153432795

This is what I saw in my mind.

Adoring Hearts Card Adoring Hearts Hybrid EF Distressed Tile EF Stripped White Ribbon Tinsel Gems Three Pack Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

A lot has changed from the first card, but all is fair when you CASE a card.  That means Copy and Share Everything.  First of all, I decided to make a Book Fold card.  That's because the formation of the hearts is actually a square, or close to it.  The Thick Basic White is cut to 4 1/4 x 11, score at 5 1/2 and again at 6 3/4. Fold the card in half and then fold back on the other score line.  Glue the small space to the inside of the card.

I used the Distressed Tile Embossing Folder to dress up the card a bit.  For the spine, you'll need Basic White card stock that is 1 1/8 x 4 1/8.  For the front a 4 1/8 x 4 1/8 inch piece will do the trick.  Glue these layers in place.

The Iridescent Stripped Ribbon is not available as of this writing.  SU expects it around August 5th.  I would take a look a little before and after to catch it in stock.  With the holidays getting some attention, this ribbon could sell out again quickly.  Tie this ribbon around the spine of the card and into a pretty bow.

Adoring Hearts Adoring Hearts Hybrid EF Distressed Tile EF Stripped White Ribbon Tinsel Gems Three Pack Close Up Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Taking a little cue from the ribbon, I decided to use Fresh Freesia, Highland Heather, Bubble Bath, and Basic White for my hearts.  Take the hybrid folder and the dies.  Use that large die with the heart cut outs.  Place the die inside the folder and place until you feel the die has clicked in place.  The cutting edge will be up.  Use scraps of card stock to place over 4 of the hearts right on top of the die.  Think about the designs you would like to use.  Cut using the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine.  For this card you'll need the regular size machine.

Since the ribbon has a glimmer to it, I wanted to make my hearts glimmer.  Out came the Wink of Stella.  I was careful to get it down in the crevices.  Add the Wink to all four of the hearts.  Glue the hearts to the card front.

Mind you, Stampin' Up! does have some glimmer paper.  I didn't have it.  Take a look at the 2024-2026 In Color Glimmer Paper.  This is something you could try.  I'm not sure how the designs would turn out.  If you know, leave a comment on this post. Let the world know!

Adoring Hearts Book Fold Card Adoring Hearts Hybrid EF Distressed Tile EF Stripped White Ribbon Tinsel Gems Three Pack Card Standing Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

The saying is from the Unbounded Love stamp set.  Stamp in Fresh Freesia on a white scrap.  Trim around using Paper Snips.  Add to the heart with glue dots.

Finish the card with some Tinsel Gems Three Pack Freesia embellishments.

For the inside, the saying is again from Unbounded Love.  I added another heart in white.  I had an extra on my table.

There you go.  I thank you for your time today.  This is a pretty easy card to make.  The hearts can all be cut at once.  I hope you'll try it.  Take a trip through the catalog and find a card you would like to CASE!
