Cards-Thinking of You

Beautiful Thistle Bundle and Day at the Farm Designer Series Paper

Happy New Year!  I hope that you have a 2023 filled with happiness and lots of card making!  I'm usually very happy while making cards!

Our new January-April Mini Catalog and Sale-a-Bration will both begin on Thursday, January 5th.  There are so many wonderful new products for you to discover.  Earning more products for free make this time of year even better.  I can't share the new catalogs with you yet, but I will have them available for you to download sometime on Thursday from my Catalogs tab at the top.  If you want me to mail the catalogs to you, just let me know.  If local, come by and pick them up!

I'm using the Beautiful Thistle Bundle from the mini catalog page 60.  This bundle caught my eye when I first flipped through the catalog.  So, of course, I purchased it as soon as I could.

Beautiful Thistle Bundle Day at the Farm DSP Hive 3D EF Classic Matte Dots Watercolor Pencils Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Isn't this card beautiful!  I love how it turned out.

My base is Thick Basic White cardstock cut to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, score at 4 1/4.  Take another sheet of Basic White cut to the size of the card, 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 and run this through your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine with the Hive 3D Embossing Folder.  Glue this sheet to the front of the card.

The designer paper for this card is part of the Sale-a-Bration offerings.  It's called Day at the Farm Designer Series Paper.  I used the Stitched Rectangles dies to cut out the paper.  The Cherry Cobbler plaid is cut with the 3rd largest rectangle.  The Daffodil Delight stripe is cut with the 4th largest rectangle.  The plaid is glued on at an angle.  I would build the stripe design before adding it to the card.

Stamp the large image flower on a piece of Basic White with Memento ink.  Stamp 2 of the smaller ones as well.  I colored the flowers using Watercolor Pencils.  Stampin' Up! has 2 assortments of the pencils.  I used Cherry Cobbler and Granny Apple Green from Assortment 2.  Then I added some Old Olive to the green area.  It's from the first assortment.  Use a Blender Pen to smooth out the colors and blend them.  Cut the flowers out with the Beautiful Thistle dies.

Add the large flower first by adding glue to the stem and dimensionals to the flower part.  Do the same with the smaller flower.  Part of this flower will be on top of the larger so add here with glue and use dimensionals on the part that does not overlap.  My stems extended below the designer paper so I just trimmed them even.

Stamp the saying from Beautiful Thistle on a 1/2 inch strip of Basic White.  Trim even with the designer paper and notch the other end.

Tie a bow of Linen Thread and add with a glue dot.  Add the saying with dimensionals being careful not to put dimensionals over the bow knot.

For embellishments, color some of the Classic Matte Dots with a Dark Cherry Cobbler blend.  Add to the card.  Make sure they are dry.

For the inside, add another saying from the stamp set.  Glue in the left over flower.

So there you go.  I love how the Watercolor Pencils look with the card.  Since those colors do not bleed through, I could have just stamped the flower on the inside of the card and colored it there.

Get out those Watercolor Pencils and use them!  I will be doing that more often!  Thanks for giving me some of your time today.  I am honored.

Hope & Prayer with Texture Chic Designer Series Paper

I just recently got the stamp set Hope & Prayer.  It's on page 71 of the annual catalog.  This is a great set for a religious card.  I think it would be good for a sympathy card as well.

Hope and Prayer Texture Chic DSP Simply Elegant Trim Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels Stylish Shapes dies Metallics Embossing Powders Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

For this card I also used the Texture Chic Designer Series Paper.  I don't use gold very much, but I really do like how this card turned out.  I used a base of Thick Basic White 4 1/4 x 11.  Score at 5 1/2 and use a Bone Folder to burnish the fold.

Cut the DSP to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  Glue to the front of the card.  I like to use glue because it has a little give to it, but not for long.  This paper will cover the entire front of the card.  If you end up with a little white from the base showing, just trim it off.  Cut off any extra you might have with paper snips.  If you turn to the back and cut it seems easier for me.

For the saying stamp on Basic White with Versamark.  Before stamping use an Embossing Buddy over the surface to remove static.  SU does sell this item in the July-December Mini on page 49.  It's part of a kit called the Embossing Additions Tool Kit.  Use the Gold EP that's part of the Metallics Embossing Powders.  Our Heat Tool is used to melt the powder into beautiful gold.  At the same time stamp and emboss the dove.

Cut the saying out with the Stylish Shapes dies.  Cut the larger fatter banner at the same time using a different print from Texture Chic.  Fussy cut the dove with paper snips.

Cut the banner from the DSP in half.  To make the banner appear longer glue the banner parts on each side of the circle.  I used the lines on my Grid Paper to make sure the sides are straight.  You might even trace the sides of the banner on the back of the circle before you cut it.  Add to the card near the bottom of the card.  Use dimensionals or Foam Adhesive Sheets to add the circle and banner.  Did you know that you can cut the foam sheets with dies.  I cut the next smallest circle from the foam for this purpose using the Stylish Shapes.

The gold trim is from the Simply Elegant Trim from the annual catalog.  I put a glue dot right above the circle and looped the trim back and forth using the glue dot to hold it.  Use a dimensional and glue dots to add the dove.

Complete the card with some of the Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

Gold embossing is a technique that I don't use that often.  Every time, though, it's like magic.  Why don't I do that more???  I think I'll make a few more of these cards.  It's really pretty and it's not that hard to do.  Thanks for stopping by today.  I appreciate it!

Encircled in Friendship CASE of page 100 of the Catalog

For the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge we are casing the Stampin' Up! catalog page 100.  I chose to use the sketch of the card.  I used the Encircled in Beauty bundle and the Pattern Party Host Designer Series Paper.

CCMC #673 Encircled in Beauty by Jo Anne Hewins

The card starts with a base of Thick Basic White that is cut to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, score and fold at 4 1/4.

The Crushed Curry designer paper is cut to fill the entire front of the card, 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  The checked paper is on the back of this paper.  Cut three of them 1 1/4 x 3 5/8.  Add these with dimensionals.  I started with the one in the middle and then added the ones on the sides.  I use my Grid Paper to help me keep things straight.

The Basic White circle is the inside of the largest doily in the Encircled in Beauty.  Stamp the larger flower stamp in Memento Black and color with the Granny Apple Green, the Daffodil Delight, and the Calypso Coral Blend Combo sets.

Cut the smaller doily in white from the dies.  You will need to cut around this doily in the center to cut off some parts that will stick out and then add the circle with dimensionals.  Glue to the center checked strip.

The saying is from the stamp set.  Cut it apart and glue to the card front.

CCMC#673 Encircled in Beauty Inside of Card by Jo Anne Hewins

For the inside of the card, add the saying and the small flower.  Color with blends.

Color Fusers Blog Hop for June 2021

We are so happy to be hosting our Color Fusers Blog Hop for June.  This month we are featuring the new In Colors.  How exciting!

I am loving all of the new colors Evening Evergreen, Fresh Freesia, Pale Papaya, Polished Pink, and Soft Succulent.

So what did I do with these colors for the blog?  Let's see.

Color Fusers for June 2021 Simply Succulents by Jo Anne Hewins

I pulled out all my In Color blends and got to work using the Simply Succulents stamp set and the Potted Succulents dies.  These can also be purchased as a bundle.

The base for this card is Evening Evergreen cut to 4 1/4 x 11, scored and folded at 5 1/2.

The Basic White layer is 4 x 5 1/4.  Run it through the Stampin' Up! Cut & Emboss Machine with the Macrame 3D Embossing Folder.  It's perfect for this card.

Stamp the pot on a piece of paper from the Bloom Where You're Planted Designer Series Paper in Memento Black and cut out with the dies.

Stamp the large succulent stamp, 2 of the medium round succulents, and one of the smallest succulent using Memento Black ink on Basic White.  Pull out the blends in the Evening Evergreen, Fresh Freesia, Pale Papaya, Polished Pink, and Soft Succulent combo packs and color away.  I googled succulent colors and it looks to me like any color is a go!

Cut out everything using the Potted Succulent dies.  Add dimensionals to the back of all of the parts and add to the card.  I placed the pot first making sure I would have room for everything first.  Add the largest cut out first and a little bit to the right.  Now add the three smaller parts.

The saying, from Simply Succulents, is stamped on white in Evening Evergreen.  It's cut out with one of the Potted Succulent dies.  Add a dimensional on each end and add to the the pot.

Finish off with a few jewels from the 2021-2023 In Color Jewels.

Color Fusers for June 2021 Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

For the inside of the card, the saying is from the Simply Succulents set stamped in Evening Evergreen.  Stamp the medium succulent in Memento and color with blends.

A Quiet Meadow Fun Fold

The Quiet Meadow bundle is definitely one of my favorites.  I've had quite a few posts with this bundle.  I'll had links to these near the end of this post.  Here is my little fun fold card for today.

Quiet Meadow Fun Fold by Jo Anne Hewins

And here is the card open.

Quiet Meadow Fun Fold Card Open by Jo Anne Hewins

The card base is Night of Navy cut to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, score at 2 1/8, 4 1/4.  Close the card in half and then fold the center score back on the front.

We are using the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper.  I'm so glad this paper carried over.  I had a lot left.  It's perfect for this card.  I used the paper that had the navy coloring in it.  It's a pretty textured paper.  Cut one to 1 7/8 x 5 1/4 and the other is cut to 4  x 5 1/4.  Stamp the flower from the Quiet Meadow stamp set in stamped-off Night of navy ink randomly over both pieces of designer paper.

The saying on the inside is stamped on a scrap of Basic White in Night of Navy.  Trim around and add to the upper corner.  Add two stems cut in Night of Navy card stock.  If you wish add some of the Adhesive Sheets to the back of the card stock.  This will turn the stems into stickers.  It's really easy to add that way!  Cut with the Meadow dies.  Remember that the Quiet Meadow stamp set and the Meadow dies can be ordered together as a bundle for a savings of 10%!

Add the designer series paper to the card.

Quiet Meadow Fun Fold Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

The navy and Basic White layers are cut using the Scalloped Contours dies.  OMG!  They are certainly a MUST HAVE set of dies!  Cut the navy layer with the 2nd largest rectangle and the white layer with the 3rd largest one.  Stamp the flower stem from the Quiet Meadow stamp set.

The saying is from the stamp set.  Stamp, cut apart and glue to the card.

Glue the two scalloped layers together and add to the card.  You will only be adding adhesive to one side of this layer.  Part sticks over the edge.  I would use Tear & Tape.

The navy twine is from the Well Suited Twine Combo pack.  It's still available until the end of June.  Don't forget that Jan-June Mini Catalog!

The bling is from the Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels.
