Cards-Thinking of You

Sneak Peek of the Quiet Meadow Bundle

The Quiet Meadow bundle packs a WOW that you might not see at first.

Quiet Meadow Set and Dies

The stamp set has a lot of stamps that lend themselves to making your own background.  I have focused more on the stamp set today.  There is a video that I made for the NC Demo Facebook group.  I do show some more samples of cards at the end of the video.  I'll add that a little later.  Here is my card.

Quiet Meadow Single Layer Card by Jo Anne Hewins

It's a pretty simple card with the only cut out being the label.

The card base is Crumb Cake measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, score and fold at 4 1/4.

I stamped my own background for this card.  I started with the saying.  Stamp in Crumb Cake.  It doesn't really matter how you do this.  The stamp is not long enough to stamp across the whole card.  I started at the center and then stamped below and to the left, below and to the right, and then started all over again.

Next I added the dots.  Again I stamped in Crumb Cake wherever I wanted.  Rotate the stamp so that you get different effects with the dots.

I took the single flower next and stamped here and there over the card front again using Crumb Cake.

Now stamp the flower grouping on the card front two times with Memento Black ink.

Quiet Meadow Single Layer Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

Use watercolor pencils to color the flower.  I used the White and the Daffodil Delight from our first set of watercolor  pencils.  I also used Granny Apple Green from the Assortment 2.  For the white I did have to press down quite a bit.  On my video I used a spongy piece under my grid paper.  I suggest that you color on a hard surface.

Color all the white and then add the yellow centers.  Finish with the green.

Add a length of the Bumblebee Gingham Ribbon.  I just added Seal to the back of the ribbon.

Stamp the saying from Quiet Meadow on a piece of Basic White in Early Espresso.  Add with dimensionals.  I used some thin strips I cut from the Foam Adhesive Sheets on mine.

Add a bow of Linen Thread OR you could use the Crumb Cake twine from the new Baker's Twine Essentials Pack.  Check out the video.

Add a few embellishments by stamping the largest of the small flowers in Memento Black.  Color with the colored pencils.

Quiet Meadow Single Layer Card Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

For the inside, the saying is from Quiet Meadow.  Stamp in Early Espresso.  Decorate the bottom of the inside using the same techniques shown on the front.

Here's the video from my Facebook Live for the NC Demo Facebook Group.

Thanks so much for joining me today.  I would love to be your demonstrator if you don't already have one.  Let me earn your business!

Art Gallery Pop-up Card

On my Facebook Live last Wednesday I made a pop-up card using the Butterfly Brilliance bundle.  I didn't have time to share my second card using the Art Gallery bundle.  I'd like to do that today.

Art Gallery Pop Up Facebook Card by Jo Anne Hewins

I'll give you the basics for this card and then the link to the post and video for the card shared on Saturday.

The base is Pretty Peacock 4 1/4 x 11, scored and folded at 5 1/2.

The box is 3 1/2 x 4 1/4, score at 3/4, 1 1/2, 2 1/4, and 3.

Complete the inside of the card first and then add the box.  The saying in the inside is from Friends Are Like Seashells.

Art Gallery Pop Up Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

The flowers are stamped in Petal Pink and Terracotta Tile ink using the Art Gallery stamp set.  Cut with the Floral Gallery dies.  Stamp the leaf stem twice in Pretty Peacock and fussy cut leaves to place randomly.

On the front, use the Fine Art Gallery Designer Series Paper.  It measures 2 x 5 1/4.  The second panel is Basic White that is 2 x 5 1/4.  Run this through the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder.

Art Gallery Pop Up Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

Cut an oval from Basic White using the Stitched Shapes dies.  Stamp and cut out with dies the flower and stem.  Add with dimensionals.  Add a bow of Terracotta Tile from the Ornate Garden Ribbon Combo Pack with a glue dot.

The saying is from the Art Gallery set and cut using the coordinating dies.  Add with dimensionals.

Art Gallery and the Ornate Layers Dies

Welcome to the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #646.  We have a color challenge this week using the colors Merry Merlot, Flirty Flamingo, and Old Olive.

I used the Art Gallery bundle that consists of the stamp set and the Floral Gallery dies.  Here is my card.

CCMC #646 Art Gallery by Jo Anne Hewins

The card base is Old Olive measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  Stamp around the outside of the base with the largest flower stamp in Versamark.

Using the Ornate Layers dies, cut out the second largest layer in Basic White.  Add with dimensionals.

On Basic White, stamp the largest flower in Flirty Flamingo.  Add the smaller more detailed flower over the top of the first one.  Use stamped off Merry Merlot.  I actually made this flower a 3 step. Use Merry Merlot to stamp the smallest flower in the center.  Stamp the stem in Old Olive.

Use the Floral Gallery dies to cut out the flower and stem.  Add these to the center of the white layer with dimensionals.

CCMC #646 Art Gallery Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

Cardstock #3: Whisper White 2 ¾ x 4 for insert, 4 x 4 for snowflakes

Cardstock #4: Shaded Spruce 4 x 4 for trees

Designer Paper #1: In Good Taste Dark Wood 2 pieces at 1 x 4 and one piece at 2 ¾ x 4

Designer Paper #2: In Good Taste Light Wood for largest oval of Stitched Shapes at 2 ¾ x 3 ½

Adhesive Sheets for Snowflakes and Trees, two at 4 x 4

Glue the two thin strips of dark wood from In Good Taste to the sides of the card front. This is a hamburger, long way, card. Watch your spacing around the edges.

Fold and burnish the long piece of Early Espresso card stock. Glue this piece to the card front between the two designer paper pieces. Spacing should be about the same.

Stamp the Whisper White insert. The saying is in Shaded Spruce ink and is from the In the Pines stamp set. Stamp with the four trees stamp at the bottom in Shaded Spruce. Stamp off Shaded Spruce to color the inside of the trees with this more solid stamp. Glue to the inside of the card.

Line the Whisper White card stock on one side with Adhesive Sheets cut to 4 x 4. Cut out the snowflakes using the So Many Snowflakes dies. Peal off the back to add the snowflakes. Note that some of the snowflakes will be covered with the oval, so they could possibly be cut in half.

Cut the light wood designer paper with the largest oval from the Stitched Shapes dies. With a scrap of Whisper White cut another piece with the largest oval that could represent the snow at the bottom of the oval. Glue this to the bottom of the oval. If there is room on your scrap with the Adhesive Sheets, that could be used for this piece. Glue to the center of the card front.

Add Adhesive Sheets to the back of the Shaded Spruce piece and cut out 1 large detailed tree and 2 small detailed tree. Peal the backing and add to the card.

Add several of the Snowflake Sequins on the card front.

Stamp the saying from In the Pines in Shaded Spruce on a ½ inch of Whisper White scrap. Punch the ends with the Banners Pick a Punch. Add to the card with dimensionals.
