Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #587 Come to Gather

Welcome to this Thursday's Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #587.  This week we are using Cajun Craze, Pretty Peacock, and Crumb Cake.

CCMC587

I chose to use the Come To Gather Designer Series Paper for my card and the Gathered Leaves Dies.

CCMC#587 Gather Together by Jo Anne Hewins

Begin with a card base of Thick Very Vanilla that is 4 1/4 x 11, scored at 5 1/2 and folded.

Cut the Come to Gather feather paper to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  Glue to the card front.

The Crumb Cake paper across the card is from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper.  Cut to 1 1/2 x 4 1/4.  Glue to the card front.

The wooden pieces come from the Tags & Feathers Elements.  I pressed them on the surface of the Cajun Craze pad.  It took a couple times to get it as dark as I wanted.  This does not adhere as well where the feathers are white.  I wanted to leave the ink on there anyway.  This process can be messy as that ink does not dry immediately.  You just might want to leave them alone for a while or use your Heat Tool.  This is experience talking here!  Place the feathers on the card with glue dots.  And yes, I had to wash my hands!

For the leaves, use the Gathered Leaves dies.  I used all three sizes of the leaves so that I could cut all at once.  Use all three of the colors, too, Crumb Cake, Pretty Peacock, and Cajun Craze.  With the embossing left by the dies, it's easy to curl up the leaves a little.  I added these with a couple of glue dots down the center.

The saying is from The Painted Harvest stamp set found in the Annual Catalog.  Stamp in Pretty Peacock on Crumb Cake.  The Crumb Cake paper is 1/2" x 3 3/4.  Notch the ends.  Add with dimensionals.  This label hides all of the ends of the feathers and leaves!

Finish off with a box made using the Cajun Craze twine from the Come to Gather Ribbon Combo Pack.

CCMC #587 Gather Together Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

This is the inside of the card.  The saying is from Painted Harvest.  I had a smudge under the saying.  That's why I added the leaf.  The stem hides my smudge!  What do they say?  It's a reason to embellish!

Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge # 582 Gather Together

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #582.  We have a sketch this week.

My card is actually this sketch turned upside down.  I am using the Gather Together bundle.  This consists of the Gather Together stamp set and the Gathered Leaves dies.

CCMC #582 Gather Together Bundle Card by Jo Anne Hewins

I love the Come to Gather Designer Series Paper that also goes with the Gather Together bundle.  I am loving Pretty Peacock for the fall!  It's not traditional, but somehow it is perfect!

Start with a card base of Pretty Peacock that measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.

The next layer of pumpkins and leaves designer paper is cut to 4 x 5 1/4.  The linen look of these papers is just so pretty.

Now another layer of Pretty Peacock measuring 3 x 4 1/4 is needed.  The dotted linen look paper is next and is 2 7/8 x 4 1/8.  All the layers add a lot to a card.

Use the Stitched Shapes dies to cut an oval from Very Vanilla.  Attach to the card with dimensionals.

CCMC #582 Gather Together Bundle by Jo Anne Hewins

Stamp the large leaf from Gather Together on Very Vanilla card stock.  Stamp in Pretty Peacock.   Color in the leaf with Pretty Peacock ink.  To do this simply press the pad together in the center to get ink in the lid.  Use an Aqua Painter to color.  Let dry.  Stamp the little dots cluster stamp on the leaf in Early Espresso.  Cut out the leaf with the Gathered Leaves dies.  Glue to the card.

I used another design from the Come To Gather designer paper for a little strip of interest behind the saying.  It measures 1/2 x 2 7/8.  Stamp the saying on a piece of Very Vanilla that is 3/4 x 2 1/4.  Stamp in Pretty Peacock.  For both the designer paper and the saying attach with glue where it overlaps the oval.  Use dimensionals where it does not.

Here is the inside of the card.  The saying is from the Gather Together stamp set.  Stamp another leaf just as on the front of the card.

Color Fusers Blog Hop for October, 2019

Welcome to the Color Fusers Blog Hop for October.  We are using the colors Grapefruit Grove, Terracotta Tile, Cajun Craze, and Basic Black.  Aren't these colors great for fall.  You may have just come from Tami's blog.  That girl is so talented!  I am in awe.  You might just be starting.  Whatever, please visit all of our blogs on the hop.  You'll get some great ideas!

No photo description available.

I chose to use the Gather Together Bundle.  The Gather Together stamp set is one for simple cards and for more difficult ones.  I love that!  The Gathered Leaves Dies are fantastic!  The detailed leaves are different that ever before.  I didn't use it on this card, but just spritz the cardstock and then run it through the die cutting machine with the dies.  When they come out the veins in the leaves just seem to pop.  Well I digress.  Let's get to the card for today.

Color Fusers Gather Together for October by Jo Anne Hewins

Start with a card base of Cajun Craze cut to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  Next is a layer of Basic Black measuring 4 x 5 1/4.  The last layer is a piece of the Terracotta Tile script from the 2019-2021 In Color Designer Series Paper stack.  It measures 3 7/8 x 5 1/8.

The Basic Black strip is cut at 1 x 3 7/8.

Stamp 3 of the large leaves from Gather Together on Whisper White.  Stamp in Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  Color each of the leaves with Wink of Stella.  Press the lid of the ink pad to get some ink in the lid.  Use that ink to paint in a leaf.  When the leaf is covered wipe the ink out of the lid.  You don't want to contaminate the pad with shimmer.  Make a leaf each in Terracotta Tile, Cajun Craze, and Grapefruit Grove.  Clean the Wink of Stella brush between colors.  Using the Gathered Leaves Dies, cut out all three leaves.  Now, this might be hard, but crumple up the leaves in your hand.  Make sure they are well crumpled.  They are leaves!  I added these leaves to the card front with glue dots.  I added the top and bottom ones first and then the one in the middle.

Color Fusers Gather Together October Wink of Stella by Jo Anne Hewins

Stamp the largest pumpkin in Cajun Craze on Whisper White.  Color with Wink of Stella and ink from the Grapefruit Grove pad.  Cut it out.  Add over the stems of the leaves with dimensionals.

Stamp the saying in Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Whisper White.  Cut the saying apart.  The left part of the sayings will need a dimensional.  The right side will need to be glued.

Color Fusers Gather Together October Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

The inside of the card has a saying from the Gather Together stamp set in black.  Stamp another pumpkin for the inside.  Color just as on the front.

Here is another picture of the card with embellishments.  They are the 2019-2021 In Color Faceted Dots.  I colored them with a black sharpie.  Do you like it?

Beauty & Joy For Fall

Hello to you today!  Are there signs of fall where you live?  Here in North Carolina, it's still feels like summer, but fall will come.  This makes me think of my son Jeff.  Way back when he was in kindergarten, as we were driving home he told me he had to look for signs that say fall on them.  He had that just a little mixed up!

My card for today uses the stamp set Beauty & Joy found on page 51 of the Holiday catalog.  It's one that you just could miss.  It's kind of stuck in a corner.

Beauty & Joy Fall Card by Jo Anne Hewins

I took the sample on page 51 as inspiration for my card.  The base is Grapefruit Grove measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  Stamp the leaves from Beauty & Joy in Versamark around the edges of the base.

My next layer is Crumb Cake cut to 3 3/4 x 5.  Stamp over this whole layer with the leaves in Versamark.

On a piece of Whisper White, stamp the tree.  I started from the bottom.  The pot is stamped in Crumb Cake.  The stem is in Early Espresso.  For the leaves, stamp first in Grapefruit Grove.  With a sponge dauber, add some Early Espresso ink directly to the stamp itself and stamp.  Cut out the plant with the Stitched Shapes Dies.  Add with dimensionals.

Beauty & Joy Fall Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

I used the twine from the Nature's Twine in the annual catalog.  I separated the twine into 3 parts.  I just feel like the twine lies flatter this way.  Run a length of the twine down the center of the Crumb Cake layer.  I just tape it with regular tape on the back.  Tie a double bow and attached it with a glue dot at the top of the oval.

Stamp the saying from Beauty & Joy in Early Espresso.  Punch with the Classic Label Punch.

Glue the Crumb Cake layer to the base of the card.

Beauty & Joy Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

Here is the inside of the card.  The saying is from the To a Wild Rose stamp set and is stamped in Early Espresso.  I inked up the leaves in the same way as on the front.  I did stamp them off first so the words would show.  Hint:  Clean the stamp each time before you stamp again.  You do not want to contaminate your Grapefruit Grove pad.

Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge with Country Lane Designer Series Paper

It's the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge again! This week we have a sketch.

CCMC532

I used the Country Lane Designer Series Paper for lots of elements of this card.

CCMC #532 Falling for Leaves bundle by Jo Anne Hewins

Start with a card base of Fresh Fig measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored and folded at 4 1/4.  Fresh Fig was not listed as a color for this pack of paper.  It listed Blackberry Bliss.  I thought the Fresh Fig looked good with it.

The lined paper is cut at 4 x 5 1/4.  The Crushed Curry designed paper is cut at 3 x 4.  The Blackberry Bliss dotted paper measures 3 1/4 x 3 1/2.  The dotted paper is attached with dimensionals.

Using the Layering Ovals Framelits, cut three ovals from Whisper White card stock.  Run these ovals through the Swirls & Curls embossing folder.  Glue these together so that they form a pumpkin shape with the center oval on top.  The other two ovals would be behind and to the side.  The stem of the pumpkin is punched from the moon on the Twinkle Builder punch.

CCMC #532 Falling for Leaves close up by Jo Anne Hewins

Use the Detailed Leaves Thinlits Dies to cut the leaves from the Crushed Curry paper.  Glue this behind the pumpkin.  I did cut one of the leaves apart from the stem so I could place it where I wanted it.  Attach the pumpkin with dimensionals.

Stamp "Thankful" from the Falling for Leaves stamp set on a 1/2 inch strip of the Crushed Curry designed paper.  Use Fresh fig.  Put a dimensional on the left and tape the right of this strip.

Add a bow using the Linen Thread.

CCMC #532 Falling for Leaves inside of card by Jo Anne Hewins

The saying on the inside of the card is from Falling for Leaves and is stamped in Fresh Fig.  Cut another leaf stem from the Crushed Curry and glue on the inside.

I love the Fresh Fig and Crushed Curry together.  I don't think I've used this combination before.
