Back Fold Fun Fold with Simply Zinnia

The Back Fold Fun Fold is one of my favorites.  It must be because this is the third one I've shared lately.  It packs a little of the wow without being hard to make.  

The base of this card is Thick Very Vanilla 5 1/2 x 7 1/2.  Score at 1 and 4 1/4.  Fold the card at 4 1/4.  The 1 inch space is folded to the back of the card.  The short side is the front.  Now I will tell you that Stampin' Up! is no longer selling Thick Very Vanilla except in 12 x 12.  I just had some left over.  Very Vanilla will work!

Stamp in Memento Black using the single stamp from the Simply Zinnia stamp set on the front.  Open the card to stamp.  As you get close to the score line, fold the card to finish stamping.  Try to vary where you stamp so that the flowers don't line up.

Cut a piece of Very Vanilla that is 7/8 x 5 3/8.  Run this throught the Cut & Emboss Machine with the Zinnia 3D Embossing Folder.  Glue this to the small strip that will fold back.

 

Use the Spotlight on Nature dies to cut a Basic Black circle.  Cut a smaller circle from Very Vanilla.  Stamp the trio of zinnias on the vanilla in Memento ink.

Color the image with Watercolor Pencils.  Color the stems with Granny Apple Green and add a few areas of Garden Green.  Use a Blender Pens to smooth out the colors.  For the flowers color with the Gorgeous Grape and highlight with Night of Navy.  Again use the blender pen.  The center is Crushed Curry.  All of these colors are from the Watercolor Pencils Assortment 2.

Glue the two circles together.  Then glue the large circle to the folded back panel only.  It won't be folded back when you glue it.  Work with your glue sparingly.

The saying on the inside is from the Simply Zinna set.

The saying on the front is from the Layers of Beauty stamp set.  Ink the stamp with a Versa Mark pad.  Stamp on Basic Black.  Use an embossing buddy on the black before stamping.  Add white embossing powder and heat with a heat tool.  Trim on each side of the stamping to make a banner.  The left is straight and the right is cut.  This is a simple cut to make.  First cut the center straight in.  Then trim to the end of the cut from each corner.  Glue the banner.  It extends beyond the front of the card so be careful when adding the glue.  Don't glue the card shut!

Add a bow of Black & Very Vanilla Large Check Ribbon to the left of the banner.

Embellish with the Purple Fine Shimmer Gems.

Changing Leaves with Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper Technique

I hope that you are having a great day!  I'm so glad you have stopped in with me.  May you be inspired with the watercolor technique I'm sharing with you!  I'm using the Changing Leaves stamp set from our Online Exclusives.

The key to making this card is to stamp one leaf at a time and color that one.  I tried not to overlap very much.  Start with the largest stamp.

The Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper comes 10 to a pack and they measure 7 x 10.  For this card I cut the paper in half so that it is 3 1/2 x 5.  After we stamp we will cut that down for the card.

I started with the multi leaf stamp toward the center of the card.  Stamp this in Mossy Meadow ink.  Immediately use one of the Water Painters to spread water over the insides of the leaves.  The Water Painters come in three sizes.  Choose the one you like best for this application.  Painting with water will spread the color over the leaves.  Add another stamp with the same leaves somewhere where it will not overlap with the first and repeat the process.  Note:  having the leaves go off of the paper is a good thing.  It helps it look more realistic.

Next I used the single leaf in two opposite corners. Stamp this one in Old Olive.  Do one leaf at a time.  You do want to make sure you color quickly after stamping so the ink will move with the water.  I was able to stamp so these leaves did not overlap.

The last leaf cluster was stamped in Lemon Lime Twist.  The one at the top does overlap, but the other leaves were dry.  I did paint over these with water.  It's hard to see the spread of the ink, but it did a little.

Cut the paper after it has dried to 3 1/4 x 4 3/4.  Look at the design you have to determine how you might want to cut it.  

Mount this on a piece of Basic Black card stock.  It will measure 3 5/8 x 4 7/8.

Before gluing this panel, wrap some of the Black & Very Vanilla Large Check Ribbon around and tie a bow in the front.

We will emboss the saying from Layers of Beauty on a scrap of Basic Black.  Rub the card stock with an embossing buddy and then stamp with Versa Mark ink.  Use the Basics Wow! Embossing Powders.  This grouping has white, black, and clear powders.  We'll use white.  Melt the powder with a Heat Tool.  Cut out using the Layers of Beauy dies.

Add Linen Thread through the hole in the tag and then around the bow.  Place a dimensional under the tag.

The card base is Old Olive cut to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and fold at 4 1/4.

 

For the inside of the card, the saying is from the Layers of Beauty stamp set.  The leaf was stamped on watercolor paper and colored just like on the front.  Cut it out with the die.  This technique will not work on regular card stock.  For the inside, I used Basic Very Vanilla 4 x 5 1/4.

Colors used for this card are Mossy Meadow, Old Olive, and Lemon Lime Twist.

Thoughtful Wishes Bundle with the Thoughtful Journey Designer Series Paper

Hello to you today!  Thanks for checking in with me today.  I have a beautiful card using the brand new Thoughtful Wishes bundle.  Find it on pages 46 and 47 of the new catalog.  It's coming to everyone on May 1.  The bundle is also part of the Thoughtful Journey Suite Collection.  Here's my card.

 

I love how this card turned out.  The base of this card is Lost Lagoon 4  1/4 x 11, scored and folded at 5 1/2.  The front of the card is covered with a piece of the Thoughtful Journey 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper.  Cut the paper 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 to fit the front of the card.  I chose this piece of designer paper because it matched my base of Lost Lagoon.  It's a perfect piece to build a card.   I used the package seen on page 46 as the inspiration for this card.

Cut the largest die from the Thoughtful Wishes dies in Lost Lagoon.  Glue to the card front in the  center and just a little to the left.

Stamp the saying from Thoughtful Wishes inPetunia Pop on a Basic White scrap.  Cut it out with the saying near the bottom using a die from the Autumn Leaves dies.  Glue the label to the right and below the mid point of the front.

Cut the following from a piece of Watercolor Paper:  three of the flowers with a long stem and 5 of the leaves that are more solid and the veins cut out.  Color the flowers and leaves with Water Painters.  Use Petunia Pop and Old Olive ink pads.  I put ink on a clear block and use that to color.  No need to try to make all of the color uniform.

Build the flowers and leaves on the label.  Glue.  

Use the white ribbon from the Petal Pink & White Trim combo Pack.  Tie it around the front of the card and hide the base of the flowers and leaves.  Tie in a knot at the left of the label.

Finish with the 2024-2026 In Color Resin Dots to embellish.

The saying on the inside of the card is from Thoughtful Wishes in Petunia Pop.  Use Stampin' Write markers directly on the red rubber of the stamp and stamp in the center of the bottom.  Cut three more leaves from Watercolor Paper and paint as before.  Glue to the card stock.

Flap Fold with He's the Man Designer Series Paper and More!

Today's card has a flap fold.  It's super easy to make the fold.  I hope you'll like it.  Here's the card.

Start with a base of Pumpkin Pie that is cut to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  That's the size of a regular card.

The He's the Man Designer Series Paper is our masculine paper.  It does make the card rather dark, but I still think that it's really cute, too.  Cut a piece that is 4 x 5 1/4.  Cut another piece that is 4 x 4 in another pattern.

Fold the square diagonally.  Glue half of the square to the back of the larger piece on the right side.  The part of the square sticking out will fold back over the side to the front of the card.  The corners of the square will extend just a little beyond the top and bottom of the rectangle.  Trim that little part away.  Now glue the front panel to the base of the card.

The back part of the designer paper will show.  I decided that that design did not enhance my card.  I cut another 4 x 4 square and cut it on the diagonal.  Glue that piece to the back of the diagonal so that it shows when the flap is opened.  Of course this part would be optional if you like the back of the DSP.

To decorate the card, use the Gingham Cottage Designer Series Paper and the Rustic Pumpkins dies.  The designer paper had two sizes of the pumpkin pie check.  I chose to have the center of the pumpkin in a larger plaid.  Cut the center and 2 of the side pieces for the pumpkin.  Glue these together to make the pumpkin.  Cut the vine pieces in Parakeet Party cardstock.  There are three designs for the vines.  I cut an extra of one of them.  I put some of the Adhesive Sheets behind the cardstock.  When peeled away, the vines become stickers and apply easily.  The stem is cut from Soft Suede cardstock.  Also cut a leaf from Parakeet Party.  The base of the pumpkin is added with dimensionals.  Be sure be leave the area on the right without dimensionals be that the flap will fit under it.

The saying is stamped in Early Espresso ink on Basic White.  Fussy cut around the saying with Paper Snips.

Embellish with 2021-2023 In Color Opal Rounds in Pale Papaya.  Add a bow of the Black & White Gingham Ribbon.  I colored it with a Dark Soft Suede Blend.

Since this card does not open, I put the inside of the card on the back of the card.  All is from the Hello Harvest stamp set.
