Cards-Thankful

Flap Fold with He's the Man Designer Series Paper and More!

Today's card has a flap fold.  It's super easy to make the fold.  I hope you'll like it.  Here's the card.

Hello Harvest Flap Fold He's the Man DSP Gingham Cottage DSP Rustic Pumpkins dies JO Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Start with a base of Pumpkin Pie that is cut to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  That's the size of a regular card.

The He's the Man Designer Series Paper is our masculine paper.  It does make the card rather dark, but I still think that it's really cute, too.  Cut a piece that is 4 x 5 1/4.  Cut another piece that is 4 x 4 in another pattern.

Fold the square diagonally.  Glue half of the square to the back of the larger piece on the right side.  The part of the square sticking out will fold back over the side to the front of the card.  The corners of the square will extend just a little beyond the top and bottom of the rectangle.  Trim that little part away.  Now glue the front panel to the base of the card.

The back part of the designer paper will show.  I decided that that design did not enhance my card.  I cut another 4 x 4 square and cut it on the diagonal.  Glue that piece to the back of the diagonal so that it shows when the flap is opened.  Of course this part would be optional if you like the back of the DSP.

To decorate the card, use the Gingham Cottage Designer Series Paper and the Rustic Pumpkins dies.  The designer paper had two sizes of the pumpkin pie check.  I chose to have the center of the pumpkin in a larger plaid.  Cut the center and 2 of the side pieces for the pumpkin.  Glue these together to make the pumpkin.  Cut the vine pieces in Parakeet Party cardstock.  There are three designs for the vines.  I cut an extra of one of them.  I put some of the Adhesive Sheets behind the cardstock.  When peeled away, the vines become stickers and apply easily.  The stem is cut from Soft Suede cardstock.  Also cut a leaf from Parakeet Party.  The base of the pumpkin is added with dimensionals.  Be sure be leave the area on the right without dimensionals be that the flap will fit under it.

The saying is stamped in Early Espresso ink on Basic White.  Fussy cut around the saying with Paper Snips.

Embellish with 2021-2023 In Color Opal Rounds in Pale Papaya.  Add a bow of the Black & White Gingham Ribbon.  I colored it with a Dark Soft Suede Blend.

Since this card does not open, I put the inside of the card on the back of the card.  All is from the Hello Harvest stamp set.

The Hello Harvest stamp set can be purchased with the Rustic Pumpkins dies as a bundle with 10% savings.  Products used are listed below and are linked to my online store.  Thanks!

This month I have a fun fold for you.  My friend Jean gave me a birthday card last month with this fold.  I just had to copy and put my own spin on it.

This is one of those cards that made me giddy when I finished it!  I love everything about it!    There's a small card featured on the front that opens.  Once opened you see the diagonal panel that also opens so that you can see the sentiment.

Here's a look with everything opened.

Start with a base of Basic Black.  It measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Score and 4 1/4.  Make a diagonal cut from the top of the fold down to the opposite corner at the lower right.   Use the Paper Trimmer  making sure to put the place you want to cut in the well of the cutting area.  Here's a picture of how to line it up on your trimmer.  There's another picture of how it looks from the back.

Cut two pieces of Pumpkin Pie cardstock ato 4 1/8 x 5 3/8.  Cut one in half again on the diagonal in the same direction.  Put the rectangle piece on the inside of the card.  Put one of the diagonals on the front flap.  Put the other on the inside of that flap.  Turn the paper so that it fits.

We are using paper from the Rustic Harvest Designer Series Paper.  For the inside of the card, I used the paper with acorns and leaves.  Cut it to 4 x 5 1/4 and glue.

Cut a piece of the leaves on a black background to 4 x 5 1/4.  Cut this piece on the diagonal and glue to the front flap.  Cut another piece of the designer paper to 4 x 5 1/4.  Cut on the diagonal.  This one will be in a different direction from upper right to lower left.  Glue on the inside flap.

Now we are ready to make the inside smaller card.  Cut Basic Black to 3 x 8 1/2 and score at 4 1/4.  Fold and burnish.  Cut 2 pieces of Pumpkin Pie measuring 2 7/8 x 4 1/8.  One goes on the outside and the other goes on the inside.  Cut a piece of designer paper 2 3/4 x 4 and add to the front.  Cut a piece of Basic White the same size.

For the inside, use the leaf stamp from the Hello Harvest stamp set.  Stamp off in Pumpkin Pie and stamp in the center.  Stamp the saying from Charming Sentiments in Memento Black.

For the outside, use the Rustic Pumpkins dies.  Cut the pumpkin from the Gingham Cottage Designer Series Paper.  Cut one center and two sides.  Glue the sides down and add the center with dimensionals.  Cut the stem from Soft Suede cardstock.  Cut the vines from Granny Apple Green cardstock.  Add Adhesive Sheets to one side.  Cut all three of the vine designs.  Pull off the adhesive backing and add to the card as you wish.

Christmas Season for Fall

Welcome to the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #686.  This week we are using Evening Evergreen, Pumpkin Pie, and Bumblebee.

CCMC686

Of course these colors are great for fall.  What better set to use than a Christmas one!  I used Christmas Season and the Seasonal Labels dies.  You can get them both together as a bundle with a 10% savings.

CCMC #686 Christmas Season for Fall Christmas Season Bundle Christmas Season Seasonal Labels Tidings of Christmas DSP Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

The base of the card is Evening Evergreen 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.

The next layer is Basic White, 3 3/4 x 5.  I cut a 1 1/4 inch piece of Evening Evergreen from the Christmas Tidings 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper.  Glue this to the white layer at a diagonal.  Trim away any excess.  Now run this layer through the Cut & Emboss Machine with the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder.

The saying on the front of the card is from the Pretty Pumpkins stamp set.  Stamp in Evergreen on Basic White.  Use the Tasteful Labels dies to cut this out.  It goes in the center of the card with dimensionals.  Run a length of the Linen Thread around the label.  Add a bow with a glue dot.

Stamp and cut out several of the images from Christmas Season.  I cut about 4 of 3 different fronds.  For the one with the berries, I stamped off for the stem.  Use Bumblebee for that one.  I also made stems in Evening Evergreen and Pumpkin Pie.  Arrange around the sentiment label.  Add with a glue dot down near the bottom.  Add a dimensional near the top.

Embellish the card with Brushed Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots.

Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #587 Come to Gather

Welcome to this Thursday's Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #587.  This week we are using Cajun Craze, Pretty Peacock, and Crumb Cake.

CCMC587

I chose to use the Come To Gather Designer Series Paper for my card and the Gathered Leaves Dies.

CCMC#587 Gather Together by Jo Anne Hewins

Begin with a card base of Thick Very Vanilla that is 4 1/4 x 11, scored at 5 1/2 and folded.

Cut the Come to Gather feather paper to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  Glue to the card front.

The Crumb Cake paper across the card is from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper.  Cut to 1 1/2 x 4 1/4.  Glue to the card front.

The wooden pieces come from the Tags & Feathers Elements.  I pressed them on the surface of the Cajun Craze pad.  It took a couple times to get it as dark as I wanted.  This does not adhere as well where the feathers are white.  I wanted to leave the ink on there anyway.  This process can be messy as that ink does not dry immediately.  You just might want to leave them alone for a while or use your Heat Tool.  This is experience talking here!  Place the feathers on the card with glue dots.  And yes, I had to wash my hands!

For the leaves, use the Gathered Leaves dies.  I used all three sizes of the leaves so that I could cut all at once.  Use all three of the colors, too, Crumb Cake, Pretty Peacock, and Cajun Craze.  With the embossing left by the dies, it's easy to curl up the leaves a little.  I added these with a couple of glue dots down the center.

CCMC #587 Gather Together Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

The saying is from The Painted Harvest stamp set found in the Annual Catalog.  Stamp in Pretty Peacock on Crumb Cake.  The Crumb Cake paper is 1/2" x 3 3/4.  Notch the ends.  Add with dimensionals.  This label hides all of the ends of the feathers and leaves!

Finish off with a box made using the Cajun Craze twine from the Come to Gather Ribbon Combo Pack.

CCMC #587 Gather Together Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

This is the inside of the card.  The saying is from Painted Harvest.  I had a smudge under the saying.  That's why I added the leaf.  The stem hides my smudge!  What do they say?  It's a reason to embellish!

Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge # 582 Gather Together

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #582.  We have a sketch this week.

My card is actually this sketch turned upside down.  I am using the Gather Together bundle.  This consists of the Gather Together stamp set and the Gathered Leaves dies.

CCMC #582 Gather Together Bundle Card by Jo Anne Hewins

I love the Come to Gather Designer Series Paper that also goes with the Gather Together bundle.  I am loving Pretty Peacock for the fall!  It's not traditional, but somehow it is perfect!

Start with a card base of Pretty Peacock that measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.

The next layer of pumpkins and leaves designer paper is cut to 4 x 5 1/4.  The linen look of these papers is just so pretty.

Now another layer of Pretty Peacock measuring 3 x 4 1/4 is needed.  The dotted linen look paper is next and is 2 7/8 x 4 1/8.  All the layers add a lot to a card.

Use the Stitched Shapes dies to cut an oval from Very Vanilla.  Attach to the card with dimensionals.

CCMC #582 Gather Together Bundle by Jo Anne Hewins

Stamp the large leaf from Gather Together on Very Vanilla card stock.  Stamp in Pretty Peacock.   Color in the leaf with Pretty Peacock ink.  To do this simply press the pad together in the center to get ink in the lid.  Use an Aqua Painter to color.  Let dry.  Stamp the little dots cluster stamp on the leaf in Early Espresso.  Cut out the leaf with the Gathered Leaves dies.  Glue to the card.

I used another design from the Come To Gather designer paper for a little strip of interest behind the saying.  It measures 1/2 x 2 7/8.  Stamp the saying on a piece of Very Vanilla that is 3/4 x 2 1/4.  Stamp in Pretty Peacock.  For both the designer paper and the saying attach with glue where it overlaps the oval.  Use dimensionals where it does not.

CCMC #582 Gather Together Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

Here is the inside of the card.  The saying is from the Gather Together stamp set.  Stamp another leaf just as on the front of the card.
