One Stamp at a Time Blog Hop for April Say What?

Welcome to the One Stamp at a Time Blog Hop for April!  This month we are all about the sentiment.

May be an image of flower and text that says 'OSAT ONE STAMP AT A TIME BLOG HOP'

I often get all caught up in the decor of a card.  The sentiment might be of less interest.  Let's face it, though, the sentiment is the meat of the card.  It's the why!

I just got some of the new products in my Stampin' Up! preorder and I just had to try out a few things.  If you are not a demonstrator, you can't get these yet unless you decide to join in the fun.  I know this is a teaser, but I can't help it.  All is available on May 4th.  With that said, here is my card.

OSAT Flowers of Friendship Card by Jo Anne Hewins

You might recognize some, or all, of our new In Colors.  They are gorgeous!

My card base is Soft Succulent cut to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  Stamp over the front of the card in the same color ink with the largest flower from the Flowers of Friendship stamp set.  When stamping concentrate on the edges of the card front.  If the stems appear a little wonky in the center, don't worry.  The panel will cover that.

For the panel, start by stamping the sentiment in Soft Succulent in the center of your Basic White card stock.  Now cut out with another of our new products called the Scalloped Contours dies.  I used the third one in from the outside.  It has scallops around the outside and beautiful stitching on the inside.  Add using the Foam Adhesive Sheets.  It's so easy and supports the entire panel.

To make our flowers, we'll be using the Flowers and Leaves Punch.  It coordinates with the Flowers of Friendship stamp set to make the Flowers of Friendship bundle.  For the flowers we will use 3 other new In Colors, Pale Papaya, Fresh Freesia, and Polished Pink.  Cut a strip of each color about 1 3/4 inches side.  Stamp each flower in the same color ink.  For the larger flower, stamp with the petals in the shape of a +.  For the smaller flowers, stamp with the petals in an X.  This will help when punching.  Pleasantly I found that the punch will work no matter which petal you have at the top.  Punch multiples of each.  I used them for the front of my card, inside the card, and on my 3D item front and back.  Color in the centers of the flowers with the coordinating Dark Blend.

OSAT Flowers of Friendship Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

Place the flowers around the sentiment.  Glue these down.  I did add a few flowers sticking out from behind the panel of the card.  Sometimes I had to trim them to get them to fit.

Stamp the large and small leaves on the new Evening Evergreen in the same color.  Pay attention to how these leaves will need to face in order to punch them out.  I used thin strips of the card stock to feed through the punch.  Fit the leaves wherever you feel they belong.  When done add some dimensionals under part of flowers or leaves that extend beyond the white panel.

OSAT Flowers of Friendship Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

Here's the inside of the card.  It's all the new In Colors and the Flowers of Friendship bundle.

OSAT Flowers of Friendship Bag by Jo Anne Hewins

For my 3D item, I used the All Dressed Up dies.  Cut 2 of the pocketbook dies in Soft Succulent.  On the large space for each side, stamp the large flower stem in Soft Succulent.

For the flowers on this project, use a Bone Folder to curl the petals.  Add each flower with glue dots.  I started with glue, but that got a little messy.  Add leaves around the flowers.  I decorated the front and the back of the purse the same.  For the front make a tag.  Stamp the sentiment from the Flowers of Friendship on Basic White.  Cut out with the smallest rectangle from the Scalloped Contours dies.  Attach to the purse with glue dots.  Finish up with a bow using the Fresh Freesia In Color Ribbon.  Add with a glue dot.

I have a stash of shred in my cabinets.  They are mostly from the Dollar Tree, but some is from sales I find.  I had this color that matches the Fresh Freesia color pretty well.  My purse is empty, but just think of the things you could place inside.  Possibilities!

OSAT Flowers of Friendship Bag Side View by Jo Anne Hewins

At first I didn't think the In Colors would go well together.  Well, they do!  My projects make me think of spring!

OSAT Flowers of Friendship Bag and Card by Jo Anne Hewins

I hope you enjoyed this project and peek into our wonderful world of color coming soon!  I think you'll love the Flowers of Friendship bundle, too.  The Scalloped Contours dies are also part of a bundle.

Color Fusers Blog Hop for April 2021

Welcome to our Color Fusers Blog Hop for April.  Our colors this month are Seaside Spray, Old Olive, and Real Red.  I'm so happy that you have joined us.  You'll see some great ideas using these colors.

Color Fusers April 2021

I had a tough time coming up with a card for our challenge this month.  I don't know why.  The colors are so pretty together.  I finally settled on using the True Love Designer Series Paper.  This black and white paper lends itself to coloring.  So out came the blends.  Here's my card.

Color Fusers April True Love Card by Jo Anne Hewins

My card base is Thick Basic White that is cut to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Score and fold at 4 1/4.

Cut a piece of the True Love DSP to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  Color with the blend combos of Seaside Spray, Real Red, and Old Olive.  I also used the Color Lifter on some of the petals of the flowers.

I glued the designer paper to the card front.  Then I decided that it needed something more.  I used the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder to add more texture.  It might be easier to run the paper through the embossing folder before gluing it.  It's up to what you think is easier.  This folder will be retiring soon.  The True Love DSP will be retiring too.

Color Fusers April True Love Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins
The saying is from the Ornate Thanks stamp set.  Stamp on a piece of 7/8 x 3 3/8 Seaside Spray card stock.  This was a piece I had in my scraps.  Line up the sentiment on the Stamparatus.  Stamp first in Seaside Spray.  Clean the stamp and stamp again in Versamark.  I did reink and stamp again to make sure I had good coverage.  Sprinkle on Clear Emboss Powder and heat with the Heat Tool.  Back up the sentiment on a piece of Silver Foil that measures 1 1/8 x 3 5/8.

Use about a 7" piece of the Seaside Spray Metallic ribbon and loop it and adhere behind the saying with a glue dot.  Add the saying to the card with dimensionals.

Finish the front with Frosted & Clear Epoxy Droplets.

Thinking I was done, I started thinking it just might need a little more.  I cut a butterfly from Silver Foil using the Brilliant Wings dies.  I couldn't decide whether to use it or not.  What do you think?  Which do you like best?

Color Fusers April True Love with Butterfly by Jo Anne Hewins

For the inside of the card, I lined the sayings from Ornate Thanks up on the Stamparatus.  The long saying is a little difficult for me to get straight.  With my grid paper, I can make sure all is straight.  Of course I can also stamp again if needed.

Color a 3/4 x 4 1/4 piece of the True Love DSP and adhere along the bottom.

Color Fusers April True Love Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

It did take me a while to color the paper.  I wish I could say mine is perfect, but it isn't.  It is pretty!

Thanks for joining me today.  I hope you'll continue on the hop.  You are sure is see some beautiful cards!

Prized Peony and Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper

I hoard paper.  I've said it and I acknowledge it.  I'm using the Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper today on my card.  Even more, I'm using 2 layers of it.  It's hard for me to do, but this paper is retiring on May 3rd or while supplies last.  Use it!

Prized Peony by Jo Anne Hewins

First of all, my card base is Pretty Peacock that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  Pretty Peacock is retiring as well.  I have a feeling this color will disappear before May 3rd.

The first piece of Fine Art Floral paper is cut to 3 3/4 x 5.  I have glued it down to the base somewhat askew.  I rolled up the corners as well.  The next piece measures 3 1/2 x 4 3/4.  It is also placed askew and the corners are rolled.

Place is circle of Pretty Peacock in the upper center.  This is cut with the Stitched Shapes dies (2nd largest).  Sadly, these dies will also be retiring.  They have been a basic for me and will be missed so much.

Prized Peony close up by Jo Anne Hewins

The flower is made using the Peony dies.  There are 4 dies.  They are cut from Basic White and then placed in the Painted Texture Embossing Folder.  I begin with the largest die and then add them through the hole in the center and match at the bottom of the dies until all are used.  Then I used a sponge dauber to add some of the Pretty Peacock ink.  It might be easier to sponge each piece before you put it all together.  I also added 2 pieces of the center in peacock.  Make the flower more 3D by adding some dimensionals here and there between the pieces.  Glue so that you can see a bit of the circle.  The Prized Peony bundle is retiring as a bundle, but will be in next year's catalog.  If you want these, get them now while you can save 10%.

Add some of the Ornate Garden Ribbon Combo (Terracotte Tile) to the card with a glue dot.  This is also retiring!

The saying is from the Prized Peony stamp set.  Stamp in Pretty Peacock on Basic White and then trim.  Add to the card with dimensionals.

Prized Peony Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

The saying and flower on the inside are from the Prized Peony stamp set and stamped in Pretty Peacock.
