Yuletide Village Shaker Card

Do you love a great shaker card?  I thought that the church from Yuletide Village just needed a sky of snowflakes.  Let's make it all a little magical.

Yuletide Village Shaker Christmas Card Winter Meadow DSP Clear Envelopes White Loose Snowflakes Blends Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

With the little trick of using one of the Stampin' Up!'s Clear Medium Envelopes, making this card is a snap!

The base of this card is Thick Basic White 4 1/4 x 11.  Score and fold at 5 1/2.  Don't forget to burnish the fold with a Bone Folder.

I'm using the Winter Meadow Designer Series Paper.  This paper is a carry over from last year's Sept.-Dec. Mini Catalog.  It's so pretty.  For the front of the card cut the paper at 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  It will cover the entire front of the card.  Should the white of the card base show either on the side or the bottom, give it a little haircut with the trimmer.  If the paper extends beyond the base, then give it a little haircut.  Turn the paper over and trim with snips next to the card base.  You could just a trimmer.

The designer paper for the insert is from the Winter Meadow pack as well.  Cut it to 3 x 4 7/16.  That's just a little under 4 1/2.  I want the paper to fit tightly in the clear envelope.  We'll get to that.

You'll also need a piece of Basic White 3 x 3 3/4.  Stamp the church on this paper using Memento Black.  Leave room at the top to get in the steeple.  The lines to each side of the church showing the hillside will not reach to the sides of your paper.  When you cut out the church imagine that the lines go on out to the edge.  Color the church with blends.  I used Light Mossy Meadow, Light Cherry Cobbler, Dark Daffodil Delight, and Light and Dark Smoky Slate.  Color the trim in the darker shade.  Once cut, glue the church to the bottom of the designer paper.  Use the glue sparingly, but at the same time you want to secure the edges.

Cut the end of the clear envelope at 4 inches.  Slip in the church layer. It should be tight.

You will add in the White Loose Snowflakes on top of this layer.  I did notice that I had some snowflakes that were broken.  I took those pieces out, or you can go through them before you add them.  Turn to the back and fold down the extra envelope.  Tape that down.  I used regular tape.  It won't be seen.

Add Tear and Tape around the edges of the back.  Add to the center of the card front.

The saying  is from the Sparkling Snowflakes stamp set.  Use the Basics Wow! Embossing Powder to white emboss the saying on Pretty Peacock card stock.  Cut using the Autumn Leaves dies.  Of course you want to add a few snowflakes to the panel.  Glue or use Seal to add it to the card.

I decided to make a video for you.

Thank you!  This kind of shaker is easy!  I hope you'll try it.

Bee Mine Designer Series Paper and a Mini Mouse Shaker

Hazel turned 3 on March 14th (Pie Day) and she loves Mini Mouse.  I mean, Hazel was Mini Mouse for Halloween.

11014

Now isn't that cute!  So, I needed to make her a birthday card, and to tell the truth, I was a little stuck on what to do.  I needed polka dots.  I was looking through my supplies and I happened upon the Bee Mine Designer Series Paper.  No dots, but a really cute paper with dots of flowers.  I think it turned out to be perfect.

Start with a base of Thick Basic White 4 1/4 x 11.  Score and fold at 5 1/2.  Use a Bone Folder to burnish the fold.

Cut a piece of the Daffodil plaid that is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  Glue to the front.

The Sweet Sorbet flowered paper is 3 x 4 1/4.  Use the Nested Essentials dies to cut a rectangle in the center.  I used the 2nd largest die.  Place this piece in the center of the card and put any decoration needed right through the hole.  The Happy Birthday is from the Submarine Life stamp set from the January-April Mini.  Stamp in Memento Black.  I made a Mickey here too.  From Basic Black, punch a 1 inch circle and punch two circles using the Trucking Along Builder Punch.  Put Seal around the opening on the back and add a piece of Window Sheet 2 3/4 x 4 over the hole.

Use the Foam Adhesive Sheet to add around the opening of the hole.  Cut strips that are about 1/2 inch wide.  Make sure that the entire surface around the hole is covered.  You don't want the sequins to come out.  Put more adhesive foam across the top and bottom of the rectangle.  Take an embossing buddy and run it around the inside of the adhesive foam around the hole to take away some of the stickiness.

Put some of the Loose Silver Sequins over the decorations in a pile.  Don't be chintzy with it.  Now carefully add the rectangle.  Be sure to line it up side to side and top and bottom.  That completes the shaker.

Add more of the now Mini Mouse decorations around the frame.  The bow knots are made using the Sweet Sorbet Bordered Ribbon.  Add with glue dots.

I decided to make another shaker card using the same supplies.

In this card, I cut out the bees from the Bee Mine paper.  The saying is still from the Submarine Life stamp set.  A few of the bees are peeking out from behind the frame.

I thought I had too many sequins in the first card and put less here.  I like the first one better.

A Mickey Shaker Card

Good morning.  I have a friend who sells Disney cruises.  She likes to send a thank you card to her customers.  Over the years, I have made her many types of cards.  I had a post on this a while back here.  Check it out.  Today, I have a new one for  her.

MM 2

It's a shaker card.  I thought it turned out well.  I started with a card base of Basic Black card stock.  It is cut 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored at 4 1/4 and folded.  This makes the regular A2 envelope size card.  I cut a layer of Real Red at 4 x 5 1/4.

MM 8

Use the Layering Circles Framelits to cut out the mouse shape.  You will have to run this through the Big Shot 3 times starting with the largest circles and then cutting each ear.  Run it through the Big Shot one more time using the Large Polka Dot embossing folder.  Dots are big in the Mickey world.  I cut a 3 1/2 inch square from a Window Sheet and glued it on the back of my layer.  Use your glue sparingly, but with good coverage.

MM 7

Have you tried the new Foam Adhesive Strips?  They are fantastic!  You'll need to put a layer of this strip all around the opening you made.  Make sure that you do not leave any open areas.  It's OK to piece this together as long as you leave no open spaces. The sides of this tape are sticky.  Take your Embossing Buddy and rub it around the inner sides of the foam tape to cut down on the stickiness.

MM 6

Put some of the Metallics Sequins Assortment packs.  Put about a teaspoon or so. They need room to shake.

MM 5

Carefully pull off the paper from the tape and adhere a piece of 3 1/2 inch square Basic Black card stock.

MM 4

Add some Fast Fuse to the back of the black card stock.  I also added some of the Foam Adhesive Strip along the top and the bottom.  Adhere to the front of the card.

On the front of the card, I added some Thick Whisper White 1/2 inch circle punch circles.  We are all about the dots!  The Thanks is also from the Thick Whisper White.  I used the Hello You Framelits.  Use the Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere.

MM 1

What a fun card!  I think my friend's customers will love getting their thank you card.  My supply list follows.  Need a demonstrator.  I can do that for you.  Just let me know if you need something!

Golden Jar of Love Shaker Card

I love shaker cards.  Stampin' Up!'s new Foam Adhesive Strips make it so easy.  But I'm getting a little ahead of myself.  Here's the card for today.

Jar shaker card

This shaker has a bit of sparkle.  We all know someone who loves the glitter and glam. This card is for them!  Lori, are you reading this!  Here are the details on how to make this card.  Warning, there are quite a few steps!

  • Start with a card base of Basic Black measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored at 4 1/4 and folded.
  • Add of layer from the Gold Foil Sheets measuing 4 x 5 1/4.  When I see someone use so much of the gold foil sheets, I immediately think about the cost of those sheets.  Here's a tip I have to save a little.  Use your Stampin' Trimmer to cut out the inside of the piece you are using.  You can use the center for another project.

Jar shaker layer of gold

  • Now you have a layer of Basic Black measuring 3 1/2 x 4 3/4.
  • Finally, you have a layer of the gold dots paper from the Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper.  The measures 3 3/8 x 4 5/8.
  • Using the Everyday Jar Framelits, cut the largest jar from the confetti gold piece of designer paper from the Pop of Pink Specialty DSP.
  • Also cut this jar from a Window Sheet.
  • Now stamp the jar using the Jar of Love stamp set.  Stamp with Basic Black Archival ink onto Whisper White card stock.  Cut the outside and the inside of the stamped image using the Everyday Jar Framelits.
  • Adhere the Foam Adhesive Strips around the outside of the confetti piece as close to the edge as possible.
  • Add in your confetti from the Metallics Sequin Assortment.
  • Take off the top of the adhesive strips and adhere the top of the jar to the bottom.  Be very careful as you place the two together so you can match them properly.
  • Adhere the jar to your card front.  I suggest you use Fast Fuse or the Tear & Tape adhesive.
  • Stamp the lid with Basic Black Archival ink onto a piece of gold foil scrap.  Cut this out with the framelits.  I suggest that you let it dry just a little first.  Adhere to the top of your jar.

Jar shaker close up of tag

  • For the tag, I used the "You" from the Hello You Thinlits.  I cut it from Basic Black card stock and then colored it with the Wink of Stella.  It needed its own bit of glam.
  • The sentiment if from the Jar of Love stamp set.
  • Glue the "You" on just above the saying.  Use your Fine-Tip Glue Pen for this.
  • I used the Lots of Labels Framelit set to cut out the tag.
  • Add a few sequins.  I choose black ones.
  • Add a bow using the Black Solid Baker's Twine.
  • I used the new Black Metallic Thread behind the tag to add a little more interest.
  • Use dimensionals on the back of the tag.

Jar shaker inside

The sentiment on the inside of the card is from Gift of Love.  It's a Host set.  I added some sequins around the words.
