Cards-Masculine Birthday

Take to the Sky Designer Series Paper and CASE of Page 40 of Catalog, Part 2

So good to see you today.  This post is kind of a continuation of my last post.  In that post here, I CASEd a card from page 40 of our Stampin' Up! annual catalog.  I used the Unbound Beauty Designer Series Paper.  My post turned into a don't do as I did, do as I say post.  So today I have a different card using the Take to the Sky DSP instead.  It's the same layout and it cases the same card on page 40.  I have taken my own advice and changed the orientation of the cut outs.  Here is the new card.

Here is a look at the Take to the Sky Designer Series Paper!  This paper coordinates with the Adventurous Sky Bundle.

TAKE TO THE SKY 12" X 12" (30.5 X 30.5 CM) DESIGNER SERIES PAPER

Thc card base is Thick Basic White 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, score and fold at 4 1/4.

To cover the front, I used the Copper Clay plaid patterned paper.  Cut it to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  Glue.  This should cover the entire front.

Use the hexagon smallest die from the Wildflower Designs dies to cut the designer paper with the airplanes.  Please note that this paper is directional when cutting.  Since the die is symetrical you should be able to just turn it around.  Be careful when gluing the pieces though.  Ask me how I know!

Looking at the sample on page 40, this is how I chose to start with the cut out placement.  The piece is touching the bottom of the card and is placed in the middle.  From there add more pieces leaving a little space between.  The pieces will hang over the edge.

Here I'm ready for the last row at the bottom.  You should be able to use some of the pieces left after trimming the top.

Here's how to determine where to cut.

For the saying on the front I stamped in Copper Clay on a piece of the designer paper with the clouds.  Cut out with the same die as all of the others.

The thread on this card is a little of a sneak peek.  The Natural Tones Linen Thread will be in the upcoming Sept-Dec mini.  There are three colors, Copper Clay, Garden Green, and Blueberry Bushel.  I think that's right.  I ran some of the Copper Clay around the card.  Add the saying on dimensionals.  The saying is from the Magnolia Mood stamp set.  Tie a bow and add it with a glue dot.

I did fussy cut a little airplane from a scrap to glue to the label and dress it up a little.

Add some of the Neutrals Adhesive-Backed Sequins.

For the inside I just added some strips of the Take to the Sky paper.  I cut out another little airplane to add.

I do think the write up of this post went a little better than the last.  Here is a picture of the Unbounded Beauty card so you can compare.

NC Blog Hop for June Challenge Card

Welcome to the NC Blog Hop for June.  This month we have a challenge to include the following:  Use an In Color, layering, embellishments, fun fold, and masculine.  I'm so glad that you are here.  You may have come from Tonya Bower's blog.  I'm sure she had a great project!  If you are starting here, please visit everyone on the list.  You'll be so glad you did!

NC Demos June Blog Hop Pic

When I first read this list, I thought this would be impossible.  I do love a challenge though, and I think I've made a card that has it all!  I'll be highlighting the Let's Go Fishing Designer Series Paper.  Before I go on let me remind you that select designer papers are 15% off through June.  June is almost over and I don't want you to miss out.  I decided to get the Let's Go Fishing paper as part of the sale.  I don't know anyone who fishes.  I challenged myself to make a pretty card using only the designer paper without the stamp set or dies.  Our paper is so versatile, beautiful, and coordinated to our other products.  Before I go on, I want to stress that having the Gone Fishing stamp set and dies would have made my task easier.  I'm so tempted to buy them, but again, I don't know anyone who fishes.

Let's Go Fishing Card Twisted Rope 3D EF Masculine Fun fold Gift Card Holder Wildlife Wonder Decorative Circle Punch Nested Essentials Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

This fun fold card is a gift card holder.  In this picture the focal piece does not appear to  be centered.  It is.  I'm sorry about that.  I'm getting ready to go on vacation so I don't have time to redo my picture.  There's lots to do and I'm also getting ready for a class.

This card has a base of Pebbled Path measuring 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  That's my In Color.  The diagonal stripe is part of the Let's Go Fishing pack.  It is cut to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8.  Glue.

Now we'll work on the fun fold part of the card.  Cut another piece of Pebbled Path 4 1/4 x 9 3/4.  Score this at 3 1/4 and 6 1/2.  Fold this like an accordion.  First make a mountain fold and then a valley fold.  Use a Bone Folder to burnish the folds.  One part will be glued to the center of the base and then the rest accordions up.  Don't glue until we have decorated it.  The parts will all be the same size.

Here's a picture of the card folded out. Let's Go Fishing Twisted Rope 3D EF Masculine Fun fold Gift Card Holder Wildlife Wonder Decorative Circle Punch Nested Essentials Pictured Open Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Here's are different perspective.

First we'll decorate the front top part.  Use a piece of designer paper measuring 3 1/8 x 4 1/8.  Glue to the front.  Cut a piece of Pebbled Path cardstock 1 1/4 x 3 1/8.  Run this through the Cut & Emboss Machine with the Twisted Rope 3D embossing folder.  Use a Blending Brush and the Pebbled Path ink pad to add a little color to this piece.  It will help the embossing stand out.  Glue this to the left.

The saying is from the stamp set Wildlife Wonder.  Stamp in Pebbled Path on Very Vanilla.  Cut using the Nested Essentials dies.  I did cut first with the saying to the right of my saying.  Cut again to shorten on the left.  Replace the die and feel when it locks in to the stitching.  Cut again.

Now get out the paper snips and start cutting.  I cut out a lot of fish!  Add some with glue and some with dimensionals.  Some even run off the edge of the panel.  That's a great way to use partial fish from the edges of the paper.  I think I have one fish upside down, but we won't mention that, will we.  Add dots from the 2023-2025 In Color Dots.

Let's Go Fishing Twisted Rope 3D EF Masculine Fun fold Gift Card Holder Wildlife Wonder Decorative Circle Punch Nested Essentials Writing Part Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

The center part of the fold is for your message.  Add a piece of Very Vanilla measuring 3 1/8 x 4 1/8.  Add a piece of designer paper cut to 1 1/2 x 3 1/8 to the left.  Add another cut out fish.

Let's Go Fishing Twisted Rope 3D EF Masculine Fun fold Gift Card Holder Wildlife Wonder Decorative Circle Punch Nested Essentials Gift Holder Part Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

For the gift card part, cut another piece of designer paper to 2 x 4 1/8.  Use the Decorative Circle Punch to punch a little opening in the center of the top.  That gives a place to help add and remove the gift card.  Add some Seal or tear & tape around each side and the bottom of this piece.  Add to the card.  Add more fish cut outs!  I stamped another saying from Wildlife Wonder on Very Vanilla and trimmed to add to the card.  I didn't have a gift card, so I cut a piece of Very Vanilla from the Nested Essentials to add here.

Now glue the bottom piece (gift holder piece) to the center of the base made earlier.

Let's Go Fishing Twisted Rope 3D EF Masculine Fun fold Gift Card Holder Wildlife Wonder Decorative Circle Punch Nested Essentials Top and a Little to the Side Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

So there you have it.  I have a masculine, In Color, layered, embellished, fun fold!  I hope you'll try it.  I have to give credit to my friend Kaye for showing me a card she made with the fold.  I had to go look it up!  Thanks Kaye.  Please go on to Tina Lesson's blog post.  We all need those masculine ideas and we all love fun folds!  Those are hard for me.

A Masculine Birthday Card with Wildlife Wonder

Are masculine cards hard for you?  They are for me.  Give me flowers any day.  The theme for the Tutorial Medley Facebook group was to make a masculine card.  I ended up using a lot of different supplies, but I think you would think of the Wildlife Wonder stamp set when you see it.

Wildlife Wonder Biggest Wish Nuts About Squirrels Masculine Card Majestic Mountain dies Abigail Rose DSP Linen Thread Jo Anne Hewins

I've also used the Biggest Wish stamp set, Nuts About Squirrels for the saying, Abigail Rose Designer Series Paper, Linen Thread, the Majestic Mountain dies, and more.  I always write out the directions for the cards that I post, but why do it twice.  I have a tutorial you can download.  And it's free!

A Brewed For You Bundle Birthday!

Today I'm using the Brewed for You bundle with the Brewed dies.  This is perfect for a man, but wait, it's perfect for anyone who enjoys a little brewed libation.  I'm working on birthday cards for a nephew and a brother-in-law. I'll share 2 versions that are very similar.

Brewed for You Card Brewed dies Stylish Shapes dies Perfectly Penciled DSP Rustic Metallic Adhesive Backed Dots Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

This card was fun to make.  Start with a base of Basic Black cut to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  Next, you'll need a piece of Basic White cut to 4 x 5 1/4.  Stamp the beer mug and the glass randomly over this paper using Memento Black.  Hint:  Let your paper dry for a couple minutes.  I went right on with the card and had a little smearing.  It's an opportunity to be creative, right!  I will share.

Use a piece of the Perfectly Penciled Designer Series Paper cut to 1 1/2 x 5 1/4 down the left side of the card.  So here was my first smear.  It was right beside of the DSP I added and just to the left.  I covered it up with another piece of Perfectly Penciled cut to 1/8 x 5 1/4.  Butting it up next to the first paper covered almost all of the smear.  Of course a matching strip of paper must be added to the other side.

For the focal point cut a Mango Melody large circle and a Basic Black next largest circle using the Stylish Shapes dies.  These are glued to the card and to each other.

Brewed for You Birthday for Jim Perfectly Penciled Stylish Shapes dies Brewed dies Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Stamp the mug on white and stamp the liquid in Mango Melody.  It's pretty easy since these are photopolymer clear stamps.  Stamp the bubbles as well.  These are stamped in Memento Black.

Cut these out using the Brewed dies.  I used Wink of Stella on the bubbles and the chilled mug.  Add these pieces with dimensionals.  Tuck the bubbles just a little behind the mug.

The saying is cut out using the Stylish Shapes as well.  I had a little strip of the 1/8 inch paper and decided to use it on the saying as well.  Add with glue and with dimensionals where needed.

Finish with some of the Rustic Metallic Adhesive Backed Dots.

So here is my second card.  When I stamped the mug and glass I had some smearing right  behind where the top mug is located.  I also had smearing where I placed the saying.  I had to adjust.  I made three mugs and stamped the saying on Mango Melody.  It worked!

Here's the inside of the card.  Stamp the bubbles, mug, and beer.  Cut out and glue to the card.  I cut these out because I wanted to put the bubbles behind just a little.  That cute saying is part of the Brewed for You stamp set.

Thanks for spending a little time here today.  I hope you'll make these cards for someone you know that likes a little brew!

He's All That! Twisted Gate Fold Card

Today I have a twisted gate fold featuring the He's All That stamp set and the He's the Man Designer Series Paper.  I love a paper with small images and this DSP answers the bill!  It's a great overall man paper but probably it's not just for men.  It's appeal could be wider of course.

He's All That Twisted Gate Fold He's the Man DSP Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

This card is smaller than the usual card.  You might wonder about mailing it.  It will fit in the normal A2 card that we use in the USA.

Start with a base of Early Espresso that measures 4 1/4 x 7 1/2.  Score at 2 1/2 and again at 5.  There is some diagonal scoring as well.  I do have a video below showing how to do the scoring.  For each of the end segments the diagonal goes in the same direction.  At the left start in the upper left corner and end in the lower right.  At the right start at the upper left as well and end in the right corner.  Use the cutting well on the Stampin' Trimmer.  Refer to the video.

The end sections will be folded with mountain folds.  At the left fold back and on the right fold down.

Now we have the basic fold.  Easier than it looks.  You will need 2 pieces of the He's the Man Designer Series Paper.  They measure 2 1/4 x 3 7/8.  Cut the paper diagonally.  For the paper with directionality start at the upper right and cut down to the corner.  It will go on the card behind the flaps if that helps with a visual.  The other paper has no direction.  You can cut it either way.

Glue all the pieces into place.

He's All That Twisted Gate Fold Card Pictured Open He's the Man DSP Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Use the  Stylish Shapes dies to cut the largest circle in Early Espresso and the next largest circle in Sahara Sand.  I used the Stamparatus to mount the stamp from He's All That.  I traced around the circle on my grid paper.  (I made this in a class.)  I wanted to make sure that the image was good and dark.  Glue the circles together.  Add a knot of Early Espresso Faux Suede Trim and use the Rustic Metallic Adhesive Backed Dots.

Be careful when using dimensionals to add the circle label.  You don't want to adhere the whole card so it won't open.  Lay the label on your card to determine where dimensionals should go on the flap.

The inside of the card is Sahara Sand measuring 2 1/4 x 4.  The saying is in the He's All That stamp set.

He's All That Twisted Gate Fold Pictured Partially Open He's the Man DSP Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

I realize that this is a different kind of fold.  I did enjoy making it.  Here's the video.  I hope you enjoy it.
