Cards- Happy New Year

A Playful Penguin New Year

Yes, I know that it's not New Year's.  I participated in a challenge and part was to make a New Year's card using product from the Holiday catalog.  If you are a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, you know that the Stampin' Up! new year begins on October 1.  So, in that case maybe it appropriate.

Playful Penguins New Year project by Jo Anne Hewins

Just imagine that you are penguins on Antarctica at a New Year's Eve party.  The time approaches midnight.  Suddenly it's like there are only the two of you in a room of people.  Yeah!  I said just imagine!  So that's the premise for my card today.

I did post another card using the Playful Penguins stamp set and masking.  You can find that post here.  There's a video on that post showing the technique.

I'm not going to go to all of the particulars here.  I will tell you that I stamped the two penguins in the middle and then added the rest from there.  All were stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  I added a little grounding with Smoky Slate ink.  The bow ties were stamped on scrap Whisper White, cut out and added to the penguins.

I added some snowflakes in Pool Party from the Snowman Season stamp set.  Some were stamped off and some were not.  Those added between the penguins were added while masks were in place.

The saying is in Real Red and comes from the Playful Penguins stamp set.

The card base is Basic Black that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  The Whisper White layer is 4 x 5 1/4.

Happy New Year

Today I have a New Year's card.  The Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Paper is perfect!

Year of Cheer Happy New Year

This card starts with a base of Thick Whisper White 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4.

There is a layer of Whisper White card stock measuring 4 x 5 1/4.  Run this through the Big Shot with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder.  Adhere this layer with dimensionals.

Cut 2018 from the Year of Cheer Specialty paper using the Large Numbers Framelits.  Adhere using Foam Adhesive Strips.

Emboss the word happy on Year of Cheer paper.  Stamp in Versamark and add Copper Emboss Powder and heat with the Heat Tool.  The word is from the Milestone Moments stamp set.  Punch this out using the larger balloon on the Balloon bouquet punch.

Punch smaller balloons from the Copper Foil Sheets and the Champagne Foil Sheets.  Add the balloons with dimensionals.

Add a bow of Copper Trim to the bottom of the largest balloon.

I added a few sequins from the Black Mini Sequin Trim.  I think the Black Rhinestone Jewels from the Holiday catalog would be a better choice.

Year of Cheer New Year inside

For the inside, the sentiment is from the Merry Cafe stamp set.  This is also embossed with the Copper Emboss Powder.  Add balloons in Year of Cheer, Copper, and Champagne.  Draw in lines for the balloons with Journaling Pens.

Happy New Year

I hope you enjoyed the card for today.  Thanks so much for stopping by!
