Cards - Halloween & Fall

Color Fusers Blog Hop for October, 2020

Welcome to the Color Fusers Blog Hop for October.  This month we are using the colors Cinnamon Cider, Crumb Cake, and Cherry Cobbler.  I'm so glad you are joining us.  We hop the first Monday of the month.  You might have just come from Melissa's blog.  Wow!

Don't these colors remind you of fall.  Of course I thought of the Love of Leaves bundle right away.  Here is my card.

Color Fusers for October Love of Leaves Card by Jo Anne Hewins

There really isn't a lot of stamping on this card.  There are lots of die cuts.  Here are the details.

The card base is Cherry Cobbler measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  The next layer is Crumb Cake  cut to 4 x 5 1/4.

The Very Vanilla layer is 3 7/8 x 5 1/8.

Cut all the leaves from Cherry Cobbler, Cinnamon Cider, and Crumb Cake using the Stitched Leaves dies.  They will fit on a piece of 5 x 5 1/2 paper.  You will want to cut the leaf and also emboss the inside of the leaf at the same time.  For real ease I suggest that you use the new Adhesive Sheets on the back.

Lay out the leaves on the vanilla paper as you wish.  Then one by one peal off the backing and add to the layer.

Adhere the vanilla layer to the Crumb Cake layer.

Wrap Linen Thread around this layer 3 times and tape to the back.  Add all to the card front.

Now, using the Sunflowers dies, cut one of the largest solid flower and 2 of the largest detailed flowers in Cherry Cobbler.  Crush each layer in your hand and gently fold back out.  The smallest leaf in Cinnamon Cider will fit behind the center of one of the detailed flowers.  Add all of the layers of the flower together with glue.  Glue to the card front.

On a piece of vanilla scrap, stamp the word HELLO in a line.  Cut out using the banner from the Tasteful Labels dies.  Curl with a Bone Folder.  Attach each end with a glue dot.  One end is in the flower center and the other end is outside the flower.

Fold over some Linen Thread several times and tie into a knot.  Trim the ends.  Add by the center of the flower over the label.

Add a few of the clear Elegant Faceted Gems.

For the inside of the card, the saying from Love of Leaves.  Stamp in Cherry Cobbler.  Add some of the left over leaves.

Gather Together Fun Fold

The Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge # 632 is a color challenge.  We are using the colors Mint Macaron, Cajun Craze, and Early Espresso.

These are great fall colors and coordinate so well with the Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I decided to highlight this paper in my card today.   We'll also be using the Gather Together bundle.  It's also a very easy fun fold.

CCMC #632 Gather Together by Jo Anne Hewins

CCMC #632 Gather Together Card by Jo Anne Hewins

Start with a base of 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Score at 2 and 3 1/8, turn paper around and score the same from the other side.  The center section will be the front of the card.  Bend down on each side of it.  The next fold on each is folded up.  Use a Bone Folder to burnish each fold.

You will need 2 pieces of the Gilded Autumn paper cut to 1 7/8 x 5 3/8.  These will go on each end.

You will also need 2 pieces of Very Vanilla that measure 2 1/8 x 5 3/8.  One of these will be embossed using one of the Wrapped in Texture Embossing Folders.  They come in a set of two.  This vanilla piece goes on the center front.  The other vanilla piece goes on the back of the card in the center.

Stamp the wood circle from the Rooted in Nature stamp set in Early Espresso.  Fussy cut with snips.  Add to the center of the front with dimensionals.

Stamp the largest leaves from Gather Together on Very Vanilla paper in Mint Macaron.  Color this using a brush from the pack of Water Painters using the ink in the lid of the inkpad.  Cut out using the Gathered Leaves dies.  Place these with the stem of the leaf near the center of the wood and pointing up, the other pointing down.

CCMC #632 Gather Together Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

Use the Gathered Leaves dies to emboss and cut 4 leaves.  There are 3 different types so you'll need 2 of one of them.  If you spritz water on the card stock and then cut, the embossing has more definition.  Make 2 each of the Mint Macaron and the Cajun Craze.  Cut an additional leaf for the other side.  Add the leaves two pointing up and two pointing down.

Stamp the saying from Gather Together in Early Espresso.  Use a 3/4 inch of vanilla scrap.  Trim each end.  Add a bow of Linen Thread with a rolled up glue dot.  The saying goes on dimensionals.

CCMC #632 Gather Together Back of Card by Jo Anne Hewins

Stamp the saying from Gather Together in Early Espresso and add a leaf.  The leaf here is Cajun Craze but it could also be Mint Macaron.

I have a video showing how to make this card.  Enjoy!

Thanks for your time.  This is a great fold to use with any stamp set.  I hope you'll try it.  Meanwhile if you need any supplies, I'm happy to help you.  Let me know if you need a catalog.

I'm sharing a card using the Joseph's coat technique.  This is an old technique that has come back.  The good ones always do!  Here is my card.

Joseph's Coat Technique with Forever Fern Card by Jo Anne Hewins

I have a video for this card so if the directions are a little fuzzy, hopefully the video will clear it all up.  I'll share it a little later.

The card base is Granny Apple Green that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Score this at 3 1/4 and 4 1/4.  Fold the card at 4 1/4 and then fold back at 3 1/4.  Glue down the 1 inch area next to the fold.  This is just a little added something that makes the card seem like a fun fold.  I'm using the Forever Fern stamp set.  To get the leaves stamped on the base of the card, use the Stamparatus and Versamark.  Mark off a area on the Stamparatus for the card base.  Line up all of the leaves from Forever Fern over the base close together.  This will not cover the entire surface of the base.  Stamp with the Versamark.  Turn the base around and stamp the bottom of it.  You'll have to position the base where you need it to complete stamping.  You will not need all of the stamps.

Take a piece of Whisper White measuring 3 3/4 x 5 for the next step.  I used Real Red, Mango Melody, Crushed Curry, and Granny Apple Green stamp pads.  Using a sponge dauber for each color the entire surface of this paper.  Color different spots or sections.  Color heavy  until all colors are covering the surface.  The video will be helpful here.

Joseph's Coat Technique with Forever Fern Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

Stamp the leaves, on the Stamparatus, over this layer in Versamark.  Cover in Clear Embossing Powder, and heat with the Heat Tool.  Once done, cover the entire surface with Early Espresso ink.  I simply ran the surface of the pad over the layer.  The ink will resist over the embossing.  Take a paper towel and rub over the surface.  This will remove any ink over the embossing and brighten up those areas.  Isn't it pretty!  Trim this layer down to 2 1/2 x 4 1/2.  The purpose of trimming this is so that you can choose the area you like best for the card.  You can also trim a piece to put on the inside of the card.  Add to a piece of Mango Melody that is 2 5/8 x 4 5/8.  Glue to the card front.

Did you notice that the saying is embossed?  We don't have Early Espresso embossing powder, so how did that happen.  Again, the Stamparatus is our friend.  Line the saying, from Forever Fern up on the Stamparatus.  Stamp the saying on a square of Mango Melody using Early Espresso.  Clean the stamp well.  Stamp again using Versamark.  Add clear embossing powder and heat with the Heat Tool.  Cut out with the Layering Circles dies.  Add to the card with dimensionals.

Tie a length of the Faux Suede Ribbon around the side of the card (glued area) and tie in a knot. Joseph's Coat Technique with Forever Fern Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

For the inside of the card, cut a piece of Whisper White 3 x 5 1/4.  Add a piece of the leftover front piece to the inside bottom.

So, here is the video.  I hope you find it helpful.

Happy Fall Y'all Banner Year

Banner Year isn't one of those stamp sets that might catch your eye the first time through the July-August Mini Catalog.  It's found on page 65.  When you take a second look, you'll see that it's a great stamp set.  It can truly take you year round.  Today I have a card for the fall.  Fall isn't here yet in NC, but it's coming.  I'm ready for cooler temps and floating leaves.  Anyway, here is my card.

Banner Year Fall Card by Jo Anne Hewins

This is a pretty simple card.  Don't you love those?  The card base is Early Espresso.  The layer of patterned paper is from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper.  It measures 4 x 5 1/4.

The next layer of Whisper White it 2 3/4 x 4.  Stamp to make your own designer paper.  Start with the pumpkin and stamp in Pumpkin Pie.  For the stem and leaf, color directly on the stamp with a Early Espresso marker and a Granny Apple Green marker.  The acorn is stamped in Soft Suede ink.  Then color over the top with the Early Espresso marker.  The leaf is stamped in Crushed Curry.

Banner Year Fall Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

Stamp the saying in Soft Suede on a 1/2 inch piece of Whisper White.  Glue near the bottom of the panel and trim to fit.

Add a bow made from the Bumblebee Gingham Ribbon.  Use a glue dot.

Banner Year Fall Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

For the inside of the card, stamp the squirrel at the bottom of the cardstock.  Add the acorn as on the front.

The saying is stamped in Pumpkin Pie and is from the Banner Year stamp set.

That's all there is to it!   I think you could whip out a stack of these pretty easily.  Thanks for your time today.  I know it is precious!
