Today I'm sharing a card using the Dandelion Wishes stamp set.  I just got this set recently and I'm happy to use it!  I have an easel card.

These are just so much fun to make.  They really are not that hard!

Start with a card base of Coastal Cabana that measures 4 1/4 x 11.  Score this at 2 3/4 and 5 1/2.  Fold the card in half and then the score half way down is folded down so that you would have a mountain as it sits on the card base bottom.

Next you'll need another piece of Coastal Cabana that measures 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  That's the standard US card front.  Run this paper through the Big Shot with the Dot to Dots Embossing Folder.  This piece attaches to the front of the card base, however, you will only attach the bottom half of this paper.  Only put adhesive on the bottom of the card base front.  You can see how that would look in the picture above.

Use the Rectangle Stitched Framelits for the front of the card.  Use the 4th rectangle in for the one in Coastal Cabana.  The 5th rectangle in is for the Whisper White layer.

Stamp the large dandelion on the white layer using the Stamparatus to make sure that you get a good dark image.  Use Smoky Slate ink.  A sponge dauber is used to sponge Coastal Cabana ink over parts of the dandelion.

Attach the two rectangles and then tie Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon around the lower part.  Make your first tie and then put a glue dot under the knot.  That will hold the knot in place and help tying the rest of the bow.  Add this panel with dimensionals.

If you feel that the top part of the card needs a little more support add a rectangle of Whisper White or Coastal Cabana to the back.  It would measure 4 x 3.

Dandelion wishes Easel Card inside by Jo Anne Hewins

For the inside of the card, stamp the dandelion seeds across the bottom in Smoky Slate.  The words are from the same set.  Stamp on a white scrap and punch with the 1 3/4" Circle Punch.  Add this with dimensionals.  When you open the card rest the front behind this circle to hold the card open.

You might have to include directions to the recipient of this card on how to display it.

Here's a video to show how to make this card.

Dear Doily for Dear Friend

International Blog Highlight header

Welcome to Kylie Bertucci's International Stampin' Up! Dear Doily bundle by Jo Anne Hewins

We all need encouragement!  Hopefully you know the thrill of finding a card in you mailbox made just for you.  It's happiness on a piece of paper.  Face it, we need encouragement every day!

My card uses lots of products from the Occasions catalog.  I am in love with this catalog!

Start with a card base of Night of Navy.  It measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and is folded at 4 1/4.

The Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies are hidden at the bottom of  page 28 in the Occasions catalog.  Use the largest rectangle and then skip 2 to the next one to make the frame.  I used the Thick Whisper White because I wanted it to be sturdy.

For the piece of Night of Navy, cut with the second largest frame.  This way you know that the frame will cover it.  Using the Doily Builder Framelits, cut out using the largest doily.  Go through the process several times of cutting out the doily until most of the paper is cut.  It took me 4 cuts.  Back this paper with a piece of Whisper White the same size.  Attach this piece to the center of the card front and then add that frame using the Foam Adhesive Strips.

The label in the center of the card is made using the Frosted Bouquet Framelits.  These were in the Holiday catalog, but have been carried over.  Cut the largest frame from Thick Whisper White.  Stamp the saying from the Needle & Thread stamp set from page 39 of the Occasions catalog.  Use Lovely Lipstick ink.  Center this with the smaller frame and cut.  The larger frame is placed on the foam strips, too.  These strips are a little thicker than dimensionals.  I wanted it to be the same height.  Glue on the smaller frame.  I love how they look together!

Add a few of the Happiness Blooms Enamel Dots and finish it off with a Lovely Lipstick bow.  The die for the bow is in the Doily Builder Framelits.

Here is the inside of the card.  The saying is from Needle & Thread.   The doily is from the Doily Builder Framelits.

Here is a video on how to make the card.

I would recommend that you glue down the Night of Navy cut out piece much better than I did in the video.  Thank you for watching my video!

Winter Woods Thinking of You

Today I'm using the Winter Woods bundle on page 27 of the Holiday catalog as well as some other goodies from the Holiday catalog.  Here' my card.

Winter Woods and Dashing Deer by Jo Anne Hewins

There's lots of directions so let's get started.  The base of this card is Real Red.  It measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Fold at 4 1/4.

The Early Espresso layer is 3 3/4 x 5.

The background paper is from the Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper.  It measures 3 5/8 x 4 7/8.

Use 2 pieces of Whisper White measuring 1 1/2 x 3 5/8 for the snow.  There's a framelit with the In the Woods Framelits that will cut the hills of snow.  Place the back piece up about an inch and adhere.  The second piece fits along the bottom of the layer and will overlap the first one.

The three trees are cut from the Wood Textures 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper and adhere.  Have you tried the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets?  These would be great to use for cutting out these trees.  I slipped the trunks of the trees a little behind the snow banks.

The deer comes from the Dashing Deer bundle.  It's on page 9.  Stamp the deer on a piece of Whisper White in Early Espresso.  Cut using the Detailed Deer Thinlits Dies.

The snowflakes are from the Blizzard Thinlits.  Cut from Whisper White.  The Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets would come in handy here, too.

The saying is from the Wishing You Well stamp set.  It's on page 35.  Stamp the saying in Real Red.

Tie a knot using the Real Red 3/8" Mixed Satin Ribbon.  Adhere with a glue dot.

For the inside, the saying is from Wishing You Well and is in Real Red.  The trees are from the Winter Woods stamp set.  I used the Stamparatus to stamp this to make sure there was great coverage.  Stamp in Early Espresso.

Painted Glass and Hold on to Hope

Designing a card can be an adventure.  Sometimes you just have no idea what is going to happen.  And so it is with the card I am sharing today.  Somewhere I saw a card that had put several of the rectangles from the Stained Glass Thinlits together and I thought it was very  pretty.  Here is what I ended up making.

Painted Glass and Hold on to Hope by Jo Anne Hewins

Last week I made a card using the new colors Gorgeous Grape and Granny Apple Green.  You can see that card here.  These colors are great together!

This  card begins with the Gorgeous Grape base measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  Stamp randomly around the edges of the card front in Gorgeous Grape.  The stamp is the detailed circle from the Painted Glass stamp set.

The Granny Apple Green layer is cut at 3 5/8 x 4 7/8.  The Whisper White layer is 3 1/2 x 4 3/4.  Stamp all over the white in Granny Apple Green.  I used the same stamp as before.

Using the Stained Glass Thinlits, cut two of the detailed rectangles from Gorgeous Grape.  I suggest that you use the Big Shot Die Brush to help get all of the little pieces out.  The rectangles are placed side by side on a piece of Whisper White cut 2 1/8 square.  The rectangles will stick out over the white.  Add this to the card front with dimensionals.

The sprig of flowers is from the Hold on to Hope stamp set.  Color directly onto the stamp with the Gorgeous Grape and Granny Apple Green markers.  These are both in the Brights Stampin' Write Markers package.  Stamp on white and cut out with the Cross of Hope Framelits.  The rose is from the Painted Glass set.  Stamp in Memento Black.  I colored in the flower with my Aqua Painter and ink from the lids of the pads.

The sentiment is from the Hold on to Hope stamp set.  I thought it all turned out to be very pretty.

For the inside of the card, I used the sentiment from Hold on to Hope.  I also added another of the detailed circle stamp.  I had an extra sprig so I added that, too.

I'm having a little trouble deciding if I really like this card or if it's just a little too busy.  I think I really like it.  What do you think?

Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #511 Lilypad Lake

Welcome to another Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #511.  This week we have a color challenge.

CCMC511

We are using Emerald Envy, Night of Navy, and Pool Party.  Sadly Emerald Envy will be leaving us soon.  It is not in the new annual catalog.  So, I guess this is a little tribute to Emerald Envy from some of his close friends, Night of Navy and Pool Party.  Here is the card I made for today.

CCMC #511 by Jo Anne Hewins

These colors made me think of water, so I decided to use the new Lilypad Lake Bundle.  I haven't used it until today!

The base of the card is Emerald Envy 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  Stamp the waves on this base in Emerald Envy.  The stamp is not long enough to go across the entire front of the card.  I had to kind of piece the stamping part way across.  If you look, you can tell.  At the bottom, I tried to do that where the bird would be.  For the rest of the front, I just stamped a little on the sides.  There is very little stamping behind the rectangle panel.

The Night of Navy rectangle measures 3 x 4 1/4.  The Whisper White layer is 2 7/8 x 4 1/8.

At the top of the white layer, stamp the waves again in Pool Party.  I did that 2 times.  Stamp the rest in Night of Navy.  This is supposed to represent sky and water.

Stamp the moon in navy on Whisper White.  There is a framelit for this, but I just used the 3/4" circle punch.  Add with a dimensional.

The boats are also stamped in Night of Navy.  They are colored with Pool Pary and Emerald Envy ink.  Just push the lids of the pads and color from that ink using an Aqua Painter.   Try not to go over and over this.  It will pill.  Just color and be done.  Cut these out with the Lakeside Framelits and add with dimensionals.

The bird is also stamped in Night of Navy.  Cut it out with the framelits.  Add with dimensionals.

Cut three groups of grass from Emerald Envy using the framelits and add with dimensionals.  You will need to cut the dimensionals in smaller pieces.

CCMC #511 Liliypad Lake by Jo Anne Hewins

For the sentiment, cut a Pool Party oval using the Layering Ovals.  Stamp it lightly with the waves in Pool Party.  I stamped this off first.  The saying is stamped in Night of Navy and comes from the Lilypad Lake stamp set.

CCMC#511 Lilypad Lake inside of card by Jo Anne Hewins

The inside of the card is all from Lilypad Lake.  I used this same saying for my card last time.  It's such a good one.  Many people do need our prayers.  The water is stamped in Pool Party and the bird in Night of Navy.

CCMC#511 Lilypad Lake color challenge by Jo Anne Hewins

Don't forget to check out all of the cards using this color challenge at createwithconnieandmary.com.  And again, good bye to Emerald Envy.  You will be missed!

I appreciate that you shared part of your day with me today.  I enjoy sharing my cards with you.  Do you need a Stampin' Up! demonstrator?  I would love to help you.  Let me know if you need a new catalog!
