Sagan's Birthday

My granddaughter Sagan has her fourth birthday today.  We went to her party on Saturday at Keely Park in Greensboro.  Sagan calls it her birthday park.  She had her party there last year as well.  I'll add a few pictures later of Sagan.

Sagan's theme was Mickey.  I made a Mickey card for her and I wanted to share it with you.

This is simple, but all that's needed.  I didn't have any red polka dot paper so I made my own.  Before I go on, let me warn you that I did use some retired items in the making of this card.  The base of the card is Real Red 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4. I put some of the adhesive sheets on the back of a piece of Basic White.  Punch out a bunch of 1/2 inch circles.  Peal off the backing and add over the front of the card.

The Mickey head was punched from Basic Black using a 2 1/4 inch circle punch.  The ears were punched with a 1 1/4 inch punch.  Glue the ears in place.  Add dimensionals on the back.

Add a ribbon at the bottom of Mickey.  Use the Playful Pets Trim Combo from the annual catalog that's on the way out.  Use a glue dot.

The saying is from the stamp set A Grand Kid.  Stamp on Basic White scrap in Real Red and use snips to cut around the saying.  Add with dimensionals.

For the inside, the saying is again from A Grand Kid.  Make another Mickey with circle punches.  Now I would be remiss if I didn't mention that we do have the Layering Circles dies.  All those punches are retired, dies to the rescue!

Of course there's a present to put into a bag.  I got the dotted bag at Walmart.  I just added more Mickeys here and there on the front.

Easy but a cute combo if I do say so myself.  So I'm going to add just a few pictures.  One shows Sagan with her best friend Olive.  The next is of Hazel, Sagan's sister.  Hazel turned one about a month ago.  She's still learning about sweets.

A Disney Eclipse Card

It's been a while since I posted a Disney card.  I have a friend that works with booking Disney cruises.  She sends her clients a Disney thank you.  She gets me to make the cards for her.  They are a lot of fun!  This time I came up with something new.  The eclipse cards are all the rage right now.  I decided to make a Disney one.  Here is my card.

Love Disney Eclipse card

Isn't it cute!  The base of the card is Thick Whisper White measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4.

The next layer is Real Red and is cut at 4 x 5 1/4.

So, I went on a search for circles to stamp.  I came up with the moon stamp from High Tide for Mickey's head.  The ears are the circle stamp in the Jar of Love stamp set.  I stamped these in Basic Black Archival Ink.  Make sure your pad is good and juicy!  I felt that a little something else was needed so I added the dots here and there from the Bunch of Blossoms stamp set.

The next step is to cut out the letters for the word love.  Of course,  use the Large Letters Framelits.  I used a straight edge and my grid paper to make sure that the letters were all even.  It also helps to use the Magnetic Plate to keep the letters in place.  I will say that I also used some washi tape to hold the letters just to make sure all was secure.  Once cut, hold on the the center of the letter O.  Adhere the red layer to the card base.  I did put glue around the letters too to hold those little ends in place.  Lay the letter O inside its letter.  Now glue the center of the O in place.  Remove the O.  Use the Foam Adhesive Strips on the back of the letters.  Put them in place.  Add a bow, using a glue dot, to the letter E.  Use the Solid Black Baker's Twine.

For the word Disney, use the Labeler Alphabet.  Stamp in black on Whisper White scraps.  Trim and add to the card.

For the inside of the card, I used a stamp set from 2001.  Yes, it's retired.  I found it at a used stamp sale several years ago.  It's perfect for the Disney cards.  It's called Birthday Balloons.
