Cards-Children Birthday

It's Hazel's Second Birthday! And Taco Fiesta!

Can you believe that Hazel is two???  Where did the time go!  I'm using a video that I found that makes the cutest taco.  I wish I could take credit, but no.  This taco was designed by Di Barnes.  You can find her video here.  I'm making a Book Binding Fold today.  I just love those.  I've made several lately.

The taco on this card is 3D.  It is attached with a wobble spring.  You can find these here.  The taco is so cute wiggling on the card!  Here are the things I used, but it's all on the video mentioned already!

Needed to make the taco for this card are:

Decorative Circle Punch using Pale Papaya cardstock for shell

Hedgehog Builder Punch using Granny Apple Green and Parakeet Party for lettuce

Whale Punch using the drops in Basic White for the sour cream

Tailor Made Tags dies using Basic Black  tag holes for the olives

All That dies using Polished Pink for tomato pieces (Yes that kind of a funny color, but it's got to match!

For the book fold:

Pale Papaya cardstock 4 1/4 x 11.  Score at 5 1/2 and 6 3/4.  Fold in half.  Fold back the next fold.  Glue down the area it makes.

For the spine area, you'll need Polished Pink 1 1/8 x 4 1/8 and paper 1 x 4 from the Delicate Desert Designer Series Paper.  Stamp designer paper first with the candy stamp from the Taco Fiesta stamp set.  Add the layers.

For the large area, the paper is cut to 4 1/8 x 4 1/8 in Polished Pink cardstock.  Stamp the 4 x 4 layer of designer paper in the same way as the thin piece.  Add these layers to the card front.

Cut a piece of the Enjoy the Journey Designer Series Paper with the largest square from Stylish Shapes dies.  Add with dimensionals.  Here's where you'll actually add the taco with the wobble.  Just pull the backing and stick on!

The saying is from the A Grand Kid stamp set.  Stamp in Polished Pink on Basic White and fussy cut it out.  Glue.

For the inside cut a 4 x 4 piece of Basic White.  Stamp the horse from Taco Fiesta in memento black on a piece of white scrap.  Color with the Polished Pink Combo Blends and the Pale Papaya Combo Blends.  Draw a straight line down part of the white layer with a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker. Fussy cut and add the horse with dimensionals.

The saying is from A Grand Kid.

Don't forget to decorate the envelope.

While at Walgreens I found a Taco Pez Dispenser.  I had to have it!  To make a bag I needed a whole 12 x 12 paper.  I used a matching paper from the Enjoy the Journey Designer Series Paper.  Score at 6 and fold in half.  Add a piece of Tear & Tape down the side.  Fold over and stick down the side.  Add a piece of the Tear & Tape at the bottom.

Stamp, color, and cut out another horse.  Add a short length of black twine from the Baker's Twine Essentials Pack by adding a piece of tape just on the inside of the bag.  Add a small piece of tape at the bottom.  Add the horse with dimensionals hiding the end of the twine.

Add some M&M's with glue dots to look like candy coming from the horse pinata.

Tie some of the Polished Pink Open Weave Ribbon for handles.  I punched small holes.  I was afraid that the ribbon might pull through with a lot of handling.  I did put some tape over the ends on the inside of the bag.

Slip in the extra candy so there will be some to eat.

Day at the Farm DSP and the On a Farm Bundle

Stampin' Up! is known for their coordination of products.  The pairing of the Day at the Farm Designer Series Paper (a free Sale-a-Bration choice with $50 purchase) and the On the Farm bundle with the stamp set and dies is incredible!  The sad part is that the last day to get the Day at the Farm DSP is Tuesday, February 28th.  That's right!  The last day of February.  Mind you, Sale-a-Bration items are while supplies last!  By the time you see this post, it could already be gone.  This card is a fun fold that really shows off this paper!

For the front of this card, the real work is done by the designer paper.  The Cherry Cobbler paper is cut with the 4th rectangle in on the Stitched Rectangles dies.  Fussy cut the trees.  The cow is cut from the designer paper with the On the Farm dies.  The saying is from the On the Farm stamp set.  Stamp it directly on more patterned paper.  I used the Stylish Shapes dies to cut out the saying.  Use the thicker banner die.  Then use a square die from the set to cut the straight end.  All looks stitched.

But wait until you see the opened card.

Let's start at the  beginning.  You will need a piece of the Day at the Farm paper cut 5 1/2 by 12.  So you could get two of the cards from one 12 x 12 sheet with a tiny bit left over.  Score the paper at 4, 6, and 8.  Fold the paper so that you have a mountain fold in the center.  Then fold up on those outside folds.  Be careful as you fold and make sure you keep everything very straight.  This gives you a base of 4 x 5 1/2.  With the card folded shut, glue the back of the card to a base of Pear Pizzazz cut to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  I did need to use my paper trimmer to get everything even at the bottom.

The paper you see from the front of the card in the first picture is on the back of the paper you see in the picture above.

From here on out, the designer paper is the star.  I cut out the cow, sheep, pigs, and flowers directly from the paper.  I did cut the pigs apart for some of them.  One of the sheep was glued on the fold.  Only half of it got the glue.  I fussy cut some trees, the barn and silo, little cows, duck, and chickens from the paper.  The wind mill was cut using the On the Farm dies from Basic Black.

For the last part of the fold, cut a piece of the chicken wire paper to 2 1/2 x 3.  Stamp the saying from Cheerful Basket in Memento on it.  I used my Stamparatus to be sure to have a good image.  Mount on a piece of Pear Pizzazz that is 2 5/8 x 3 1/8.

Here comes more pictures of the inside of the card.

This is the middle section.  There is a fold there in the middle.  The sheep near the bottom is glued over the fold.  Glue the back of the sheep and allow the front to be free.  That works fine.

This is the last section.

Thanks so much for taking a look at my card for today.  I hope you'll try this fold.  It would work for so many of the designer papers that you can find at Stampin' Up!

Happier Than Happy Bundle and Fun Fold

Love a fun fold?  Love an easy fun fold even more?  I've got one that looks hard, but it's not.  We often find that, don't we?  The Happier Than Happy Bundle caught my attention right away when I first saw our new annual catalog.  Remember, I have granddaughters.  Their parents have assigned them an animal when they were born.  Hazel is a fox.

Happier Than Happy Standing Card Happy Forest dies Happy Forest Friends DSP Fun Fold Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

I'm also using the Happy Forest Friends Designer Series Paper that goes along with the suite.  It's just so cute.

For this card begin with a base of Sahara Sand that measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Score at 1, 2, 5.  You'll need another piece of Sahara Sand cut to 3 1/4 x 8 1/2.  Score this one at 4 1/4.

On the big card, fold the first fold at 1 inch down and the 2 inch fold goes up to make a small mountain.  The next fold goes down.  That larger area opens to the inside of the card.

Happier Than Happy Card Happy Forest dies Happy Forest Friends DSP Fun Fold Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

You can see here the basic fold from the side.  We'll add our designer paper now.  The very front small area has paper measuring 1 1/8 x 2 3/4.  You will need two of these as one goes on the inside of the card.

For the larger area between the 2 and 5 inch score lines gets 2 pieces of DSP that measure 1 1 x 2 x 2 7/8.  These go on each end.

A piece of the trees DSP goes on the front of the small extra card.  That measures 3 x 4.  Directionality counts here so watch out how you cut.

On this small card the hello comes from the Artistically Inked stamp set.  Stamp in Soft Suede ink.  Cut some trees from Old Olive card stock.  I used three.  Use the Happy Forest dies.

Stamp the bear in Soft Suede and the fox in Cajun Craze on Basic White scraps.  Cut these out with the coordinating dies.  Add the bear to the small card front with dimensionals.  Add the fox.  It will have dimensionals on the left.  Use glue where the fox overlaps the bear.

Happier Than Happy Happy Forest dies Happy Forest Friends DSP Fun Fold Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Fold the large card.  Glue the front of the small card to the center of the front small fold.  Watch where you put your glue.  Now with the large card folded, turn everything over carefully.  Glue the back of the small card to the back of the large base.  Notice that part of the card will extend up over the other.  Again, watch where you put the glue.  You don't want to glue the card shut.

Happier Than Happy Happy Forest dies Happy Forest Friends DSP Fun Fold Inside of Card Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

For the inside you'll need a piece of Basic White cut to 2 7/8 x 5 3/8.  Add the small strip of designer paper to the bottom.  You might want to add a few extra Old Olive trees inside.

Hippest Hippos Book Fold Card

Hippest Hippos are also the cutest hippos around!  I have a great book fold card for you today featuring the Awash in Beauty Designer Series Paper from the annual catalog.  Here's my card.

Hippest Hippos Hippo dies Stylish Shapes dies Positively Pink Woven Ribbon Awash in Beauty DSP Full View Jo Anne Hewins luv 2 create

For this cutie, start with a base of Polished Pink cut 4 1/4 x 11.  Score it at 5 1/2 and 6 3/4.  Fold in the center and then the next score line will be folded back.  There is the basic fun fold.  I love this fold because the rest of the front of the card is a square.  That works so well with the stitched squares in the Stylish Shapes dies.

Hippest Hippos Book Fun Fold Card Hippo dies Stylish Shapes dies Positively Pink Woven Ribbon Awash in Beauty DSP Jo Anne Hewins luv 2 create

For the designer paper, you'll need one piece that is actually 1 1/8 or just a tiny bit smaller by 4 1/8 or just a tiny bit smaller.  I like a smaller border on my cards but the 1/8 should really be 1/16.  Glue this piece in the smaller section.  Tie some of the Polished Pink Open Weave Ribbon around the card and tie into a know in the front.  Glue the small section closed.

Use the same designer paper for the rest of the front.  Cut it to 4 1/8 x 4 1/8.  Remember that it could be just a tiny bit less on 2 sides. Glue.

Hippest Hippos Card Hippo dies Stylish Shapes dies Positively Pink Woven Ribbon Awash in Beauty DSP Close Up Jo Anne Hewins luv 2 create

Cut the largest square from Stylish Shapes in Polished Pink.  Cut the next smallest square in Basic White.  When you are ready to add the pink layer, use dimensionals.

Stamp the hippo with a flower in Basic Gray in the center of the white square.  Color in the hippo using the Polished Pink Blend Combo, the Light Petal Pink Blend, and the Smoky Slate Blend Combo.  Color the leaf in Old Olive.  Cut the tiniest flower from the Hippo dies in Polished Pink and cover the stamped flower.  Cut the green grass in Old Olive card stock, 2 for the front and 3 more inside the card.  Cut flowers with the die that has 2 flowers together in Polished Pink.  Cut as many as you wish for inside and out.  Glue these in place.

Here's a picture of the inside to help.  The Basic White piece inside is the same size of the designer paper covering the front of the card.  Stamp the saying inside in Polished Pink.

The Hippest Hippo stamp set and the Hippo dies are both part of the offerings for the SU Sale-a-Bration during July and August.  Each are free with a $50 order, so you could get both with a $100 purchase.  If this is something you want, I would not wait to order.  All SAB items are while supplies last.  The Pool Party and Soft Sea Foam Cards & Envelopes are already gone.

If you don't have a demonstrator I would love for you to order from me.  I would appreciate that so much!

I do send a group of tutorials out each month to customers who purchase $50 from me.  Usually there are around 25 made up from different demonstrators.

Happy First Birthday to Hazel

Last Monday was Hazel's first birthday.  A big party was planned for the occasion, but sadly little Hazel was sick.  So the party was moved to this past Saturday.  With absolutely no bias at all, I must say she is the sweetest little girl.  She is my granddaughter.  So of course a card must be made.  The theme is forest animals featuring the fox.  That's her spirit animal or some sort of thing.  It's her mascot.  I'll have a few pictures of Hazel near the end.

This post has lots of retired product.  That's not what I do.  Sweet little granddaughters just might make a person do anything.  So I warn you that a lot of the supplies I used aren't available for purchase now.

Storybook Friends stamp set

I used the Storybook Friends stamp set.  I don't know how old this set is but I did find a card on Pinterest posted back in 2012.  Some of you might not even remember this set. Something told me to keep this one.

Storybook Friends Card Hazel's #1 birthday Tailor Made Tags Dies Black & White Gignham Ribbon Paradise Palms Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

So, the foxes were stamped in Memento Black across the bottom of a Thick Basic White base of 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Score and fold at 4 1/4.  I used the Cajun Craze Combo Blends and the Light Smoky Slate to color the foxes.  Grass is added along the bottom of the card using a stamp from Paradise Palms.  The black dots are from a stamp in the Hello Ladybug stamp set.  Hint:  Add the words to the card and then make the dots.

I added a balloon punched out with the balloon punch.  This was punched from an old Regals 6 x 6 stack.  Use a Basic Black Stampin' Write marker to draw a line to the balloon.  This looks a little weird.  The balloon was an afterthought.  Add with dimensionals.

Use the Playful Alphabet dies for the wording.  Add a piece of the Foam Adhesive Sheets to the back of the designer paper and then cut out the letters.  That makes the letters easy to add to the card.  Make a number one in Basic Black for the balloon.

Did you get the problem with my design?  I colored with blends on the front of my card.  What happens?  The ink bleeds to the back and makes the inside of the card ugly.  We can't have that.  We also don't want to mess up the very nice Thick Basic White.  Mistakes gives us a chance to be creative.  Designer Paper to the rescue.  I am loving the inside of this card.

I added checked Cajun Craze to the top to cover my ink.  There's no set measurement except the width at 5 1/2.  The black and white striped is from the Host Pattern Party Designer Series Paper.  If you don't have that pack, you need it.  Look in the back of the catalog on page 171.  You would need to have an order of $150 to earn rewards.  But face it, that's not that hard to do!  The stripe is 5/8 x 5 1/2.

On the bottom the checked paper is 1 1/2 x 5 1/2.  The stripe is 1/2 x 5 1/2.

I stamped and colored another fox.  Cut off the flag.  Add him holding another balloon.  The saying is from Blossoms in Bloom.

Storybook Friends Hazel's #1 birthday Tailor Made Tags Dies Black & White Gignham Ribbon Paradise Palms Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

There must be treat bags!  These bags are retired from Stampin' Up!  I threw the paper away without writing down the details, but you can't get it anyway.  Stamp the fox in Cajun Craze and the dots from Hello Ladybug.  Cut a tag in the check and in Thick Basic White.  Stamp the fox, color, add grass.  The hooray is from the Storybook Friends stamp set.  Add the tags with dimensionals.  Add the bow of black and white gingham ribbon.

This just made me so happy!  There will be a list below of the current items you can actually purchase.  Don't be mad at me for teasing you a little with retired stuff.  It happens!

Want around 25  tutorials with current product.  Order $50 from me using Host Code R3T9NHEM.  I just sent these out for March, but it's not too late to make your purchases!
