Cards - Birthday

Zany Zebras In Magenta Madness

I think I said this before, but I love the Zany Zebras stamp set.  I can picture my granddaughter and I stamping away together.  I'm going to have to take it with me the next time I see her.  I have a zebra card for you using our new In Color Magenta Madness.  Let me tell you it is bright pink!  Sagan loves pink!

Zany Zebras Hinge Stamping Card by Jo Anne Hewins

This is an easy card to make.  The base is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored, and folded at 4 1/4.  Use a Bone Folder to burnish.

Set up the Happy Birthday stamp, or any stamp, on the Stamparatus.  Make sure that the stamp is between the hinges on the plastic plate.  Simply ink and stamp.  Lift off plate and place it down a hinge.  Ink and stamp.  Continue until you've gone down the right side of the card base.  I used Memento Black ink.

The Magenta Madness dotted paper is from the 2020-2022 In Color 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper.  Cut it to 1 1/2 x 5 1/2 and adhere down the left side of the card base.  Run a length of the Magenta Madness Ribbon around the card.  Start behind where the oval will go, run all the way around and end at the same place.  I just used regular scotch tape it hold it.  Tie a bow with the ribbon and set aside to add later.

Zany Zebras Hinge Stamping by Jo Anne Hewins

Stamp the zebra in Memento Black on a piece of Whisper White.  Use the Stitched Shapes dies to cut out the oval.  Use the largest one.  Now cut out the coordinating scallop die with the magenta card stock.  Glue the two together.  Add to the card with dimensionals.

Stamp the birthday sentiment on white scrap paper.  Punch out with the Classic Label Punch.  Glue to the bottom of the oval.

Now let me point out that any sayings would work for this card.  It does not have to be for a birthday.  I'll have to make it again with a different saying for Sagan since she has an April birthday.  I won't know where to find it by then.  Of course maybe we could celebrate her half birthday since we couldn't celebrate the real one very well!

Add the bow with a glue dot.

Add a few of the 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots.

Zany Zebras Hinge Stamping Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

Inside, stamp another zebra.  Be sure to add a shadow.  The shadow on the front was actually hidden by the label.  The saying is from the Zany Zebras stamp set.

There you have it, easy as pie.

I'm going to practice my Facebook Live today at 11:00 am ET by making this card.  It will be on my Business Page.  I hope you can join me.  Please like my page while you are there.  Thanks in advance.  I'll share it here when I get it all figured out.

A Beautiful World Birthday

My husband is a geography guy.  He taught Middle School Social Studies where they focused on Europe, Asia, and Africa.  When I showed him the World Of Good Specialty Designer Series Paper, he got really excited.  His birthday is coming up in August, and I think this will be his card.  I just noticed the actual paper with the world isn't on this card, but the world is.  And now I notice that I should have put the other side of the world cut out.  Well, maybe this is like the card that he will get with a few modifications.  That will be easy with the supplies that go with the World of Good Suite.

Beautiful World June Class by Jo Anne Hewins

The base of this card is the Cinnamon Cider cut to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  Take another piece that measures 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 and run it through a die cut machine with the new Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder.  This folder does just what it says-gives the paper an old look.  Glue this layer directly to the front of the card base.

The Early Espresso layer is 3 x 4.  Run it through a die cut machine with the new Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder.  From the center of this layer cut out the stand for the globe using the Old World Map dies.  Add leaning to the left.

The patterned paper, from World of Good Specialty, is 3 x 4.  Place it go that it is straight on the card.

Beautiful World June Class Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

Cut the circle from the dies from Misty Moonlight card stock.  Cut the world from Garden Green card stock.  Adhere the two.  Add the globe and its stand with dimensionals.

The saying for this card is from the Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set.  Stamp in Early Espresso on a 3/4 inch strip.  Trim the ends.  Add with dimensionals.

Take a piece of Linen Thread that is about 4 inches and fold it over.  Tie a knot.  Trim the ends as needed and fray the ends.  Add to the sentiment with a glue dot.

Finish the card with three of the Cinnamon Cider dots from the 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots.

Beautiful World June Class Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

For the inside of the card, the saying is from the Seaside Notions stamp set.  I love the font of this set.  Stamp the ink well and feather.  All stamping is done in Early Espresso.

We made this card in my classes last week.  I do love how it turned out.

Zany Zebras in Misty Moonlight

Hello!  I'm practicing doing a Facebook Live today.  I did it with my team on their Luv 2 Create page.  I think it turned out all right so I'm going to put it on YouTube and share.  Here is the card I shared.

Zany Zebras White Emboss Project by Jo Anne Hewins

This is made with Thick Whisper White card stock that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Score and fold at 4 1/4.

With the Stampin' Trimmer, trim 1 inch from the right side of the card.

Using the Misty Moonlight dotted paper from the 2020-2022 In Color Designer Series Paper, cut a piece that is 1 1/8 x 5 1/2.  Add to the right side of the inside of the card.

Now just stamp the saying and stars randomly on the card front.   Fold the card as normal when stamping near the left edge.   Make sure and open the card when stamping on the right.  That will protect surfaces.  Stamp in Misty Moonlight ink.

Stamp the zebra in Versamark on Misty Moonlight card stock and emboss with White Emboss Powder and the Heat Tool.  Cut out the image with the 2nd largest square from the Stitched Shapes dies.

Zany Zebras White Emboss Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

Add some of the sparkly twine from the Flowers for Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack.

Now add the zebra with dimensionals.  Make sure not to put dimensionals on the part that hangs over the front.

Stamp a saying and another zebra on the inside.

One Stamp at a Time for June Celebrating the New Catalog

Welcome to the One Stamp at a Time Blog Hop for June.  We have a brand new catalog and we want to show it off!  You are going to love all the ideas you'll get from this hop!  Join in the fun!

Image may contain: text

I have a fancy fold card for you.  I'm not sure what it is called.  I'll just say a Reverse Z Fold Insert card.  I have a video at the end of the post that might show you better how to make it.  My card features the Birds and Branches bundle that contains the stamp set and the Birds & More dies.

OSAT Birds and Branches Tucked Z Fold by Jo Anne Hewins

The card base is a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 piece of Soft Suede card stock.  Fold at 4 1/4.  The first layer is Whisper White that measures 4 x 5 1/4.  The patterned paper is from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper.  It's cut to 3 7/8 x 5 1/8.  Glue these layers to the card front just along the top.  This is because we want to save the individual layers of circles that we'll be cutting out.  For this card, we'll need the white circle.

Using the second largest circle from the Stitched Shapes dies, cut a circle from the center, or just a little above, of the front of the card.  Be sure to send the card through your machine open.  I had to past through a couple time since we are cutting through 3 layers of paper.

After cutting the circles out, go ahead and glue down the layers on the front the rest of the way.

The inside of the card is Whisper White that is 5 1/4 x 8.  Score at 4 and 6.  Fold this so that the large portion is glued to the inside and the other sections fold back and forward to make a Z.  Use a bone folder to burnish the folds and make sure it all folds straight.

OSAT Birds and Branches Tucked Z Fold Close Up of Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

With the card folded shut, you'll see the folded part through the circle on the front.  Put glue on this folded part just on the what you see through the circle.  Add the white circle right through the front.  Half of the circle will adhere and the rest will not.

To decorate the circle, cut three of the stems from Just Jade card stock.  These are from the Birds & More dies.  You use one inside on the circle and the others will go on the front.  Glue one stem across the circle angling up toward the right.  Stamp the nest in Soft Suede on Whisper White 2 times and cut.  One goes inside on the circle and one on the front.  Stamp the bird in Early Espresso.  Color in using the Light Smoky Slate Blend and the Light Real Red Blend.  Cut.  Stamp the eggs in Balmy Blue.  The dies will cut out as three separate eggs.

When gluing the nest only put glue at the top.  Don't glue below the circle or your card will not open.  Leave just enough room at the top of the nest to slip in the bird and eggs.  Check through the front of the card to help with placement.

OSAT Birds and Branches Tucked Z Fold Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

Stamp the saying from Celebrate Sunflowers in Soft Suede.

OSAT Birds and Branches Tucked Z Fold Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

For the front of the card, add the Just Jade stem from near the circle toward the bottom right.  You may need to trim a little from the end, but be careful.  The stems can separate.  Add the nest matching it to the nest inside.  This time glue only the bottom part of the nest.  Do not glue over the circle or your card will not open.

Add the stem to the top.  I tried to make it match the stem from the inside.  This time you will need to cut the stem apart and add.  Trim to be even with the circle.

OSAT Bird Seed Salt Shaker by Jo Anne Hewins

For my 3D item, I used a salt shaker.  Fill with bird seed.  Using the largest scallop circle from the Layering Circles dies, cut from matching designer paper.  Getting this on was the hardest part.  I put a glue dot on top of the shaker and folded down the sides.  I put glue dots inside some of the folds to hold everything.  After getting the Linen Thread tied around in a knot (my husband held it for me), I tied another thread looping it around about three more times and knotted it.

OSAT Bird Seed Salt Shaker from the Top by Jo Anne Hewins

The tag is made from a 2 inch wide piece of Thick Whisper White.  Punch the end with the Delightful Tag Topper Punch.  You will need the nest, eggs, stem of jade, and two birds this time.  Stamp and color the same.  Make sure your birds will face each other.  Add the stem first and then add the nest with dimensionals.  Glue in the birds and eggs.  The saying is from the Lovely You set.  I cut the friend from part of a saying and glued to the nest.

OSAT Bird Seed Salt Shaker from the Side by Jo Anne Hewins

Trim the tag across the bottom to fit.

Tie the tag to the shaker.  Frazzle out the ends.  Add a glue dot to hold the tag in place.

Here is a video for you.  Hope it clears everything up!

Here are my projects together.  Now, who can I give this to?

Thanks so much for your time.  Continuing on the hop will be time well spent.  I highly suggest it!

Birds and Branches and the Birds & More Dies

Good morning.  I hope you are happy and well.  I have ventured away from home for a few days.  We are staying in our condo at Beech Mountain, NC.  It's so nice to have a change of scenery for a few days.  We have sheltered in place forever it seems.  We are now allowed to come up and not quarantine.  Frankly, we are just binge watching Longmire (on season six) and getting take out.

I have a card for you today using the Birds and Branches bundle.  Are you loving it?

Birds and Branches Green by Jo Anne Hewins

Let me give you all the details.

The card base is Granny Apple Green and measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and is folded at 4 1/4.

The Early Espresso layer is 3 5/8 x 4 7/8.

The Whisper White layer is 3 1/2 x 4 3/4.

For the cut outs for this card, stamp the nest in Soft Suede and the eggs in Balmy Blue.  The three eggs are all on one stamp.  The egg die is also three eggs.  When you cut it out it does cut the eggs apart into single eggs.  Stamp the more detailed bird in Early Espresso.   Stamp over the bird with the more solid one in Crumb Cake.  Use a Light Real Red Blend to color in the tummy.  Cut the nest, bird, and eggs out with the Birds & More dies.

Birds and Branches Green Close UP by Jo Anne Hewins

Stamp the long branch directly on the white layer in Early Espresso ink.  This would be a little below the center of the card.  Stamp two of the short branches.  I find it helpful to lay the nest down on the card without adhering.  This helps you know where to place the short branches.  Stamp the leaves in Granny Apple Green ink.  The leaf stamp works with both the short and the long branch.  I think that's pretty neat!

Now adhere all of the pieces.  I used glue for the larger pieces and a glue dot for each egg.  When gluing the nest make sure that you can get those little pieces just under it.

The saying is from the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set.  Stamp on a scrap of Whisper White in Early Espresso.  Trim around the saying with snips.  Add with dimensionals.

Complete the front with a bow made from Linen Thread.  Add with a glue dot.

Adhere all layers.

Birds and Branches Green Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

The inside of the card is all stamping directly to paper.  You'll use the same colors as on the front.  I did add feet to the bird so that he sits on the branch.  There seems to be a lot of feet in this set.  Just pay attention to which way the bird is facing.  That makes a difference when picking the feet.
