Cards - Birthday

Attention Shoppers Purple on Aisle Three

I have a special friend who had a birthday recently.  She is a lover of purple.  I decided to pair a bundle I haven't used with purple.  That is the Attention Shoppers bundle.  The Attention Shoppers dies cut out each of the images in the stamp set.  There aren't any extras to the dies except for the shopping cart pieces.  It's all down to business.

Attention Shoppers Card Perennial Lavender DSP Perennial Postage dies Attention Shoppers dies Paper piecing Blends Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

The base of this card is Highland Heather 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.

Stamp the gift bag, flowers, birthday cake, and Happy Birthday randomly over the front of the card.  Take a blending brush and add some Highland Heather color on the objects lightly.

Using the Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper and the Perennial Postage dies, cut three rectangles from the purple sheet of patterned paper.  Use the third largest rectangle from the group of 4.  Glue these rectangles to a piece of Basic White matching up the sides to resemble stamps.  Trim around the white.  Tie a length of Linen Thread around this layer and tie into a bow between the first and second rectangles.  Glue this layer to the center of the card front.

Now the fun begins.  We'll decorate our objects!

Stamp the flowers, gift bag and birthday cake on Basic White in Memento Black.

For the flowers, color them in Highland Heather blends combo.  Stamp the flowers again on the plaid paper from the Perennial Lavender.  Cut just on the outside edge of the black line to cut out the wrapper for the flowers.  Glue this to the white paper.  Cut the flowers with the die.

For the gift bag, stamp the bag again on the green solid paper from the same pack and the bag on some of the paper with the little white flowers.  Trim the top green and then trim the flowered part of the bag.  Glue these in place over the image already stamped.  Cut with the die.

Color the candles with Daffodil Delight on the cake.  Color the top, middle, and bottom with a light Highland Heather blend.  Stamp the cake again on the purple solid paper and cut out the wavy pieces.  Glue in place and then cut out the cake with the die.

Add these images to the rectangles with dimensionals.  Stamp the saying in Highland Heather and trim.  Notch the end.  With a Bone Folder or your hand curve the saying.  Add a dimensional to the center of the cake to attach the saying.  Use a glue dot on the left to anchor that end of the saying.

Add some of the Purple Fine Shimmer Gems.

For the inside of the card, add a saying and stamp the flowers in the bottom corner.  Color with blends.

Let's Take to the Sky!

When it comes to Stampin' Up! I want it all!  Don't you!  Well, guess what, I just can't have it all.  For today's card I have used the Take to the Sky Designer Series Paper.  I did not use the Adventurous Sky bundle.  I think that I made a beautiful card with the paper alone.

Take to the Sky DSP Book Fold Perennial Postage dies Industrial Trinkets Basic Gray and Smoky Slate Pearls 2023-2025 In Color Jute Trim Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

I cannot take credit for using the Perennial Postage dies to make the stamps.  I saw a card using 6 of them and immediately thought about the Book Fold and how pretty 4 of the stamps would look.  I did a quick search of Pinterest and couldn't find that card again.  I'm so sorry about that.  I have found it.  Go to stampitupwithjamie.com.

The Book Fold is my favorite fold.  It's perfect if you want a square surface area.  My base is Copper Clay 4 1/4 x 11.  Score at 5 1/2 and 6 3/4.  Fold in half and then fold back at the next score line.

I used a Night of Navy backing for my designer paper for one reason only.  I wanted my sky paper to measure 4 x 4 in order to save paper in case we made this card in a class.  Oh, I guess I do have a second reason.  I love thin borders!  The Night of Navy piece for the large square is 4 1/8 x 4 1/8.  The navy for the side is 1 1/8 x 4 1/8.

For the large square, the designer paper is 4 x 4.  The paper for the side piece is 1 x 4.  Glue the pieces together and to the card base.

Let's talk about the side piece.  I used the 2023-2025 In Color Jute Trim.  Personally I feel this trim is too bulky so I divided it into strands.  I took two of the strands and tied them around the side area and into a knot.  Now glue the side piece shut.  If you wish you can tie the trim around the navy and DSP layer before you glue it down.  I think that's what I did for the sample.

Take to the Sky DSP Perennial Postage dies Industrial Trinkets Basic Gray and Smoky Slate Pearls 2023-2025 In Color Jute Trim Close Up Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Take the smaller square die from the Perennial Postage dies and cut four different scenes from the designer paper.  I also used one inside.  The Night of Navy background is 2 7/8 x 2 7/8.  Glue the papers so that the open spaces meet to make them look like stamps.  Add dimensionals or Foam Adhesive Sheets to the back and add to the center of the square area.

The saying is from the Thoughtful Wishes stamp set.  I used a long piece of Basic White because it made me think of airplanes that sometimes have signs after them.  Stamp in Night of Navy.

Embellish with Industrial Trinkets and with the Basic Gray & Smoky Slate Pearls.  These embellishments are big.  That's why I placed them on the flat area of the card.

Here's the inside of the card.  Night of Navy 4 1/8 x 4 1/8.  Basic White 4 x 4.  This saying is also from Thoughtful Wishes.

It's hard for me to make masculine cards, but I think this card could go either way.  It turned out just the way I wanted it!  I hope this card has inspired you!  It's one of those that might look a wow, but isn't that hard to make.  I take the time to write out directions and hints because I want to find that kind of post.  It does take time.  I'm not sure that it is read by many, but it's here for those who want it.  I do sell Stampin' Up! supplies and would love to help you in that way as well.  Now go stamp something!

Country Birdhouse and Country Flowers

I hope you are enjoying your new Stampin' Up! catalog.  There's a mega suite located on pages 48-51 called the Country Woods Suite Collection.  The Suite consists of the Country Birdhouse bundle, the Country Flowers bundle, the Country Woods Designer Series Paper, the Country Lace Designer Series Paper, Basic Gray & Smoky Slate Pearls, Petal Pink & White Diagonal Trim Combo, and the Eyelet 3D Embossing Folder.  That's a lot of coordination going on!  I purchased the entire suite.  Not all items are being used in my card today, but there's a lot of cuteness going on!  Usually you can order the suite with one order number and that is so conveniet, but, you may see when ordering that the suite is not available right now.  Don't be deterred.  Right now the Petal Pink & White ribbon is not available.  The other parts of the suite are available!  Estimates are that the ribbon will return around June 10th, but by then something else might be out.  Order what you can if you really want it!  That is my lesson.

Now isn't that so cute!  We made this card in my classes last week, or a close version of it.  I think everyone enjoyed it.

The base is Thick Basic White 4 1/4 x 11, score and fold at 5 1/2.  Use a Bone Folder to burnish the fold.  The designer paper on the background is from the Country Lane 12 x 12 DSP.  I love the subtle eyelet lace of this paper.  It measures 3 1/2 x 4 1/2.  Glue to the center of the card front.

The designer paper for the birdhouse and the roof and bottom of the birdhouse is from the Country Woods 12 x 12 DSP.  Stamp the birdhouse on the Pool Party and wood paper in Early Espresso.  Cut this out with the Country Birdhouse dies.  Color the hole on the birdhouse with a  dark blend.  The roof and bottom are cut from a wood grain paper from the Country Woods paper.  The scalloped part of the roof is cut from Basic White.  Let me say here that there is another thin roof part that goes between the wooden roof and the white scallop.  Just to simplify the house a little, I left that part off.  The scalloped part does still cover that scalloped stamped part of the birdhouse.

Stamp the bird with Memento Black and color with the Pool Party and the Balmy Blue Combo Packs Blends.  I colored the beak and feet with a Peach Pie Stampin' Write Marker.  Use the bullet end.  Cut out the bird with the dies.

Stamp the saying from the Country Birdhouse stamp set in Early Espresso and fussy cut around it with Paper Snips.  Add the saying with dimensionals.

The leaves and flowers are cut using the Country Flowers dies.  The leaves are in Soft Sea Foam and the flowers are in Petal Pink.  Glue near the bottom of the card.  Color in the center of the flowers with Wink of Stella.

Add the bird with dimensionals

Cut the birdhouse holder from Early Espresso and add to the top of the card.  You might have to trim the bottom just a little.

The birdhouse is as cute as it can be, but if I were you, I'd take a look at the suite.

Bird's Eye View Birthday Book Fair Card for Sagan

So my sweet little Sagan had a birthday recently.  She is now 6.  Did you know that it takes more than 1 hand to show that you are 6?  Of course I'm biased, but that girl is really something special.  As I write this, today is the actual day.  She should get one of my cards in the mail.  I hope it got there in time.  Sagan loves pink, so I tried to make it all pink.  There's a suprise inside.

Bird's Eye View Birthday Card 2024-2026 In Color 6 x 6 DSP Blends Everyday Details dies Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create.png

This is a book fold.  Start with Thick Basic White 4 1/4 x 11, score at 5 1/2 and 6 3/4.   Fold and score at the center score and then fold back at the other score.  Use a Bone Folder to burnish the fold.

Use the 2024-2026 In Color 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper.  Cut a piece of the dotted Pretty in Pink to 4 1/8 x 4 1/8 for the front.  Cut another at 1 1/8 x 4 1/8 for the spine.  Glue.  Tie a piece of ribbon around the spine and tie into a bow.  I've given this hint before, but it's a good one.  Place a glue dot under the first tie of the ribbon.  The glue dot holds the ribbon in place so that it is easier to tie the bow.

Glue down the small area making the book fold.

Bird's Eye View Birthday Card 2024-2026 In Color 6 x 6 DSP Blends Everyday Details dies Close Up Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create.png

I used this fold because I'm using the Bird's Eye View stamp set with its cute birds and the stack of books.  I love those glasses that can be used for the birds.  Stamp the bird, with glasses, and the stack of books in Memento Black on Basic White.  Color with blends.  I used Berry Burst, Pretty in Pink, Petal Pink, and Flirty Flamingo Combo Packs for each set.  Fussy cut each image.  As an afterthought, I stamped the balloon as well, colored, and cut it out.

Time out for a second.  It's a birthday, so I tied a length of ribbon around the books.  This is the Iridescent White, but it is retired I'm sad to say.  There's a little sparkle to this ribbon and 6 year old girls need that!

Cut a circle using the Everyday Details dies from Basic White.  Glue the circle to the center of the front.  Add the images with dimensionals.  Don't forget to add the balloon.

The Happy Birthday comes from the new Attention Shoppers stamp set.  Stamp in Berry Burst.  Trim and add with dimensionals.

Bird's Eye View Birthday Card 2024-2026 In Color 6 x 6 DSP Blends Everyday Details dies Inside with pocket Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create.png

SURPRISE!!!  The Book Fair is coming to Sagan's school soon.  That's why the books on the front!  Stamp a different bird, the book stack and balloon in Memento.  Color with the same blends as on the front.  Tie another bow around the stack of books.  Use part of the left over sheet of designer paper.  Cut it to 1 3/4 x 4 1/4.  To be honest, I've already sent the card and I didn't write down measurements.  I might have cut that down a little.  Add Tear and Tape around 3 sides of the DSP and adhere to the bottom of the inside leaving a little border around it.  Make sure the side with no tape is at the top.  Glue on the images.  Wait on the balloon.

Bird's Eye View Birthday Card 2024-2026 In Color 6 x 6 DSP Blends Everyday Details dies Inside with money in pocket Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create.png

Use one of the Petunia Pop pieces of Designer Series Paper for the letters and the Mini Alphabet dies.  Add some of the Adhesive Sheet to the back of the DSP the size of the alphabet die and cut.  You'll need an extra O, but all of the other letters are there.  Pull off the backing and add the letters.  Unfortunately the money slipped in the pocket does cover up some of the letters.  Wink of Stella is on the balloons.

A first Book Fair is a marvelous thing.  As a former first grade teacher for 32 years, I know the special excitement of buying that perfect book.  I'm sure Sagan will be so excited to share her finds with Hazel and her mom and dad.

One more card to share.

Panda Party retired Sagan's birthday Bright and Beautiful DSP Berry Burst Card Closed Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

This is a double Z fold card using the Beautiful & Bright Designer Series Paper.  Remember, I'm using pink stuff for Sagan.  I'm also using the Party Pandas stamp set that in long retired and an old Sale-a-Bration offering.  Sagan is having a panda party.  Thank goodness that this set that has been in my retired sale stuff forever never sold.  Since the stamp set is retired and I've already shared a super great fook fair card, I'm not going to write up all the directions of this one.  Look up double Z fold and you'll find the measurements.  I did use the Stamparatus (also retired) to stamp the pandas on Basic White.  I did cut them out and glue them in place.  I didn't want the pandas to be pink.

Notice too that I have six balloons in the card for the 6 year old.  I'll try to get a picture when I give her another present tomorrow.  Sagan and Hazel are coming to spend the night!!!

Thanks so much.  IF you actually read all of this, please let me know!  I would really appreciate that.
