NC Demo Blog Hop for August 2023 To Die For

Welcome to the NC Demo Blog Hop for August.  Our theme is To Die For.  You might have come from Tina's post.  Didn't you love her project!

We all love our dies.  Did you know that there are some dies in the back of the catalog that are stand alone dies.  That means that these dies aren't associated with a stamp set.  It's easy to see how someone might overlook these dies.  Oh, I would just hate for that to happen.  Take our hop and see some of these dies in action!  We are focusing on large dies.  I'm so glad that you are here!

I'll be using the Gorgeous Garden dies.  This set is two large dies.  I'm using the one with lots of leaves.  These dies make a great background for your cards.  I'm also using the Radiating Stitches dies.  These dies are onlinepart of the Online Exclusives only found in the online store.  This is another stand alone die set.  I'm also using another stand alone die, Paper Florist dies.  This isn't a large die, but lots of small ones to make the most gorgeous flowers.  I just love how all these supplies can work together to make a great card.

Start with a base of Lemon Lime Twist measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, score and fold at 4 1/4.

The leaves in the background behind the frame are cut using the Gorgeous Garden die.  I cut the leaves from a piece of Masterfully Made Designer Series Paper.  There is a piece that is various colors of green but mostly Lemon Lime Twist.  Cut the leaves from a piece that measures 3 1/2 x 4 3/4.  Glue this paper to the center of the card front.  For a few of the leaves here and there I added some Mini Stampin' Dimensionals instead of the glue.  Add spots of glue sparingly to the rest.

Cut a frame using the Radiating Stitches large die.  Cut from an Old Olive piece of cardstock that is 4 x 5 1/4.  You'll need to use the large die and add the next largest rectangle inside.  That will allow you to cut out the inside of the frame.  Remember that you can use washi tape or a post-it to hold the pieces in place while cutting.  Sometimes it helps to lay your dies on the diagonal as you roll the dies through the Cut & Emboss Machine.  Glue the frame in place on the card front.  This will cover up the edges of the leaves piece.

The flower is cut using a piece of the Berry Burst paper from the Masterfully Made designer paper.  I used 2 layers of the larger four petal dies and 1 of the smaller.  These are all on one die.  Cut the circle from Basic White.  Curl the layers using your Bone Folder.  Glue the layers together setting the petals askew from other layers.  Add the center with a dimensional.

Cut the three flower buds from the same designer paper.  You'll also need to cut a leaf and the stem for the buds from Old Olive.  Glue the flowers to the stem.  Pay attention.  One of the flowers is larger than the rest.  It goes in the center.  The other 2 buds have one side a little taller.  I like how it looks with the taller side on the outside of the group.  Add the leaves and flower bud stem with mini dimensionals.

The word Happy Birthday is from the Darling Details stamp set.  Stamp on a Basic White scrap with Berry Burst.  Fussy cut this with Paper Snips.  Add with mini dimensionals.

This month’s theme is Fun Fold.

From the outside of this card, you'll notice that it's quite ordinary.  The inside is the focus of this card.  I'm using the Pop-Up Vase Fun Fold.  Here is my card.

Luv 2 Stamp Fun Fold Blog Hop Vase Pop Up Fun Fold Darling Details bundle Scalloped Contours dies Quatrefoil Tile EF So Sincere set Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create
My base is Lost Lagoon 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored and folded at 4 1/4.  In the center I have  a rectangle using the Scalloped Contours dies in Basic White.  It's the third die in.  My flowers and leaves are from the Darling Details stamp set and dies (bundle).  Stamp everything on Basic White.  The flowers are stamped in Crushed Curry, Cherry Cobbler, and Pretty Peacock.  The leaves are in Lost Lagoon.  This is a 2 step stamp.  The detail outside of the flowers are stamped.  For the inside, stamp off your stamp.  This set is actually easy to match up since it is made in photopolymer.

Here is the inside of the card.  As you open the card the vase becomes 3 dimensional.  Fill it with more flowers to make a really striking card.

I have two pieces of Lost Lagoon cut to 4 x 5 1/4.  These are both embossed using the Quatrefoil Tile Embossing Folder.  In the video I use the brand new Distressed Tile Embossing Folder.  Add one to each side of the inside of the card.  On the right add another Basic White rectangle to the center and use the saying from the So Sincere stamp set stamped in Pretty Peacock.  That stamp set is also brand new.  The Distressed Tile EF and the So Sincere stamp set will be available to everyone on September 6th!

For the vase, you'll need the following.  I'm just going to include what is needed for the front of the card as well.  All flowers and leaves are stamped on Basic White cardstock.
3 large flowers in Crushed Curry
3 large flowers in Cherry Cobbler
5 small flowers in Pretty Peacock
4 of the leaves cut into two parts, one leaf and 2 leaves in Lost Lagoon.
Basic Pearls are used as embellishments.  I apologize that the pearls are retired.  Please consider the Iridescent Pearl Basic Jewels.  (Pictures already made and edited.)  In the video I color some of the Classic Matte Dots with a Dark Pretty Peacock Blend.  They did end up looking closer to Lost Lagoon in color, but that's fine.

It's really hard to describe how to make this card in words.  Pictures are so much better.  So from here I'll play the video for you.  If you want more help search for Pop-Up Vase Card on Pinterest for lots of additional ideas.

For the vase you will need a piece of Earthen Elegance Designer Series Paper cut to 2 1/4 x 5.  Score at 1 inch from each side.   The ends of the paper (scored off) are then scored at 3/4 down to the score line at each end.  Turn the paper and score again.  Each end will then have the end pieces scored in 3 even sections.  Trim on each score line down to the one inch line.  On the right cut off the center piece.  Two pieces will extend.  On the left trim off the two outside pieces leaving only the one in the center.

Additional paper needed is a piece of Lost Lagoon 5/8 x 3 7/8 and scored at 3/8.
You'll also need another paper  of any color 1/2 x 2.

I'm not even going to try to put this into words.  It's a pretty neat mechanism though.  Have some tear & tape handy.

As you are adding flowers and leaves close the card to make sure they stay inside the card.

Let's Go Fishing Masculine Card with No Fish!

The Let's Go Fishing Designer Series Paper is beautiful and it's great for masculine cards.  I have for you today using the paper, but there are no fish on this card.  I don't know any fisher people, but I do know guys.  They all have birthdays! Yes, I know there are girls that would love this card, too.

Let's Go Fishing DSP Alphbet a la Mode dies Tailor Made Tags dies Beautiful Balloon dies Biggest Wish stamp set 2023-2025 In Color Jute 2023-2025 In Color Dots Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

The base of this card is Night of Navy cut to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, score and fold at 4 1/4.

Pick two patterns of the Let's Go Fishing paper and cut to 1 x 4 1/8.  These patterns repeat.  Glue the two end pieces first.  Use your Grid Paper to help determine the center of the card.  Add that piece.  Now the remaining pieces will go in the center between the end and the middle.

Let's Go Fishing DSP Alphbet a la Mode dies Tailor Made Tags dies Beautiful Balloon dies Biggest Wish stamp set 2023-2025 In Color Jute 2023-2025 In Color Dots Close Up Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Use the Alphabet a la Mode dies for the letters in BIRTHDAY.  Add some of the Adhesive Sheets to one side of the Night of Navy cardstock.  This will turn the letters into stickers.  Place these on a strip of the diagonal stripe designer paper that is 2 1/4 inches wide.  Use the largest tag from the Tailor Made Tags dies.  Leave room at the end of the tag with the hole before beginning the letters.  The letters extend beyond the tag die.  You will need to extend the space.

Lay the die on the designer paper to cut the hole end of the tag.  Only lay the top clear plate part way so that the other end of the tag will not cut.  Now move the die so that it will include all of the letters.  You will feel the stitches fall in place with the die.  This time place the clear plate past the top of the tag so that only the end will cut.  Here's a video to show how to lengthen the tag.

Tie a piece of the 2023-2025 In Color Jute around the hole.  I used the Pebbled Path jute.

Add the tag to the card with dimensionals.

Stamp the word happy from the Biggest Wish stamp in Night of Navy ink on Basic White.  Fussy cut around the word and add it with mini dimensionals.

Cut three balloons from the designer paper using the Beautiful Balloons dies.  Glue or add these with dimensionals.

Embellish the card front with the Pebbled Path dots from the 2023-2025 In Color Dots.

Darling Details Bundle in Black & White

Hello, hello to you!  I have a card in black and white for you today.  I don't know why I love black and white, but I do.

Darling Details Bundle Black and White Gingham Ribbon Simply Elegant Trim Zoo Crew DSP Adhesive Backed Sparkle Gems Ribbon Weaving Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Isn't this cute!  The base is Thick Basic White cut to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, score this at 4 1/4.  Burnish the fold with a Bone Folder.

The Darling Details dies are a must have.  Not only do they have 2 beautiful lacy frames, there's also a long die that cuts the piece used in the card to weave ribbon in and out.  I love that!

I cut that piece from Basic White.  The paper was 1 x 5 1/2.  It might be good to have it just a little longer.  Trim it so that the holes are the same on each side.  Cut a piece of Black & White Gingham Ribbon about 6 1/2 inches long and weave it in and out from end to end.  I think it looks better you leave the dotted areas of the strip showing with the ribbon behind that part.  When you get to the ends, use glue dots to fold the ribbon back on itself.  Add this strip to the card.  The top of my lace is about 2 1/8 inches from the bottom.  Line your card up with the Grid Paper to make sure your strip is even.  Adhere.

Use the Zoo Crew Designer Series Paper for the bottom of the card.  It measures 1 1/2 x 5 1/2.  Glue to the bottom.  It overlaps the strip just a little.

Cut the flowers die from Basic Black cardstock.  Use glue sparingly or use the Adhesive Sheets on the back of the cardstock to turn it all into a sticker.

The saying is from the Darling Details stamp set stamped using Memento Black.

Add a bow using the Black & White Gingham Ribbon with a glue dot.  I added another bow using the silver from the Simply Elegant Trim pack.  I thought the card needed a little bling.

Finish with some silver gems from the Adhesive Back Sparkle Gems.

Paper Florist Dies Birthday Card with Treat Bag

I've been experimenting with the Paper Florist dies on page  165 of the annual catalog.  I showed another card with these dies here.  Today's card has a little more to it.  I have two friends that got these cards for their birthday.  It would hard to mail this card, but I was able to give them the cards in person.

PA26BE~1

Here are both of them with a few minor changes. Can you find them?

The base of the card is Pebbled Path, one of the new 2023-2025 In Colors.  Cut it to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and fold at 4 1/4.

The background paper is from the Earthen Elegance Designer Series Paper.  June is almost over.  Let me remind you that select designer series papers are 15% off until the end of June.  Stampin' Up! has some beautiful patterned papers and they are high quality, too.  They are made to match our cardstock, inks, and embellishments.  It's not too late!  This layer is cut to 4 x 5 1/4.  Glue.

The layer in the center of the card is cut using the Nested Essentials dies.  These can also be found in the back of the annual catalog on page 165.  I used the 3rd die in for this card.  Cut it from Pebbled Path cardstock as well.  Glue to the center of the card.

PA28C0~1

I think this card is so sweet.  For the single flower I used a piece from the Fresh as a Daisy designer paper.  The die cuts out 4 pieces at once.  There are two small and two large ones.  This makes the flower for the outside of the card and one for the inside.  Use a Blending Brush to add a little color to the edges of the petals.  Use the Moody Mauve ink pad.  Take a Bone Folder and curl each petal.  Add the two pieces of the same size with a little dot of glue.  Off set them.  Cut a center in Basic Black.  The die I used for the center actually cuts two sizes at once.  Use the one you like best. Glue it.

For one of the cards I used Old Olive cardstock for the leaves.  For the other, I used a piece from the Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper.  Cut two each of two of the leaves.

Add the leaf for the single flower with a glue dot at the base and mini dimensionals at the three outer leaflets.  Add the flower with glue dots.

For the 2 flowers, I used a piece of patterned paper from the Fresh as a Daisy DSP.  The die for this flower cuts out a large and a small flower.  For the 2 flowers, cut out 4 of these.  Curl the petals with a Bone Folder.   I did not add additionals color to the petals, but you might want to try it.  Adding each layer askew from the one below, glue together with a dot of glue in the center.  Add the two large flowers and the 2 small flowers all together.  Cut two centers from Basic Black to add to the center of each flower.

Place the leaves where you wish with a glue dot at the bottom and a dimensionals out near the end.  Add the blue flowers.

Cut the stem using Old Olive cardstock or the Bright & Beautiful DSP.  The tiny buds are cut from Bubble Bath cardstock.  Note that one bud is a little bigger than the rest.  Use it in the middle.  I used a little dot of glue.  Add with a glue dot on the base of the stem and mini dimensionals on the buds.

The sentiment is from the Circle Sayings stamp set.  Stamp on Basic White in Pebbled Path ink.  Fussy cut around it and add with mini dimensionals.

PACAC0~1

Here is the inside of the card.  I used a 3/4 x 4 piece of the designer paper.  Add the left over leaf and flower.  The sentiment is from the Beautiful Balloons stamp set.

I've made a video to show just how easy these dies are to use.  I hope you find it helpful.

Because I wanted to give this card in person, but I wanted to present it in something pretty, I made a gread holder using the 2023-2025 In Color Treat Bags.  I used the Moody Mauve bags.  Cut the second largest tag from the Tailor Made Tags dies in Pebbled Path.  Cut a leaf in Old Olive and make the large flower just as we did for the card front.  The saying here is from Layering Leaves.  Cut out using the Stylish Shapes dies.  Tie some Moody Mauve trim from the 2023-2025 In Color Jute Trim and tie into a bow.  Add the tag just under the jute.  Secure the bow with a glue dot in the hole of the tag.

This picture shows you the dies that I used for this card.  I think I left out the alternate center for the flower in the inside.
