Counting Sheep Birthday Card with Paper Piecing

Hello and welcome to the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #682.  We have a color challenge using Soft Succulent, Cinnamon Cider, and So Saffron.

CCMC682

With Sale-a-Bration, coming to an end in the next 2 weeks, I decided to use the Counting Sheep stamp set and the Sheep dies.  I'm also using the Textures and Frames stamp set.  It's also part of Sale-a-Bration!  Don't miss out on these great products!

CCMC #682 Counting Sheep by Jo Anne Hewins

My card base is So Saffron measuring 4 1/4 x 11 and scored at 5 1/2.  The Cinnamon Cider layer is 3 3/4 x 5.  The Basic White layer is 3 5/8 x 4 7/8.

I used the open circle from the Textures and Frames stamp set for my background.  I stamped the stamped off So Saffron first and then added the stamped off Just Jade.  Just add where you like.  Notice how I did go off the page with my stamping.

The sentiment is from the Happiest of Birthdays stamp set from the annual catalog.  I did use my Stamparatus so that I could stamp more than once and get a good dark image.  I used Cinnamon Cider ink.

CCMC #682 Counting Sheep Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

Stamp the sheep on Basic White using Memento Black.  Notice that on one sheep the ear is in the part with the designer paper and that on the other a leg is also inside the sheep's clothing.  You will need to stamp again on Basic white these areas of the sheep so you can cut that out and add.  Stamp the sheep again on the patterned paper.  I used the Soft Succulent paper from the 2021-2023 In Color Paper Stack.  Carefully cut out the clothing cutting away the extra legs and faces and stuff not needed.  Cut on the lines or just outside the black lines.  It's going to look perfect because you also have the black lines on the white sheep!  Add the clothing and then any ears and legs needed back in.  Color the hooves with a Dark Cinnamon Cider Blend.  Add a little Light Cinnamon Cider color under the cheeks and soften with a Color Lifter Blend.  Cut out the sheep with the Sheep dies and add with dimensionals to the card.

Cut some grass using Soft Succulent card stock and the Sheep dies.  Add with dimensionals.

Stamp party hats in Memento Black.  Color using the Light and Dark Cinnamon Cider Blends and cut out using the dies.  Add with a Mini Dimensional.

CCMC #682 Counting Sheep Inside of Card by Jo Anne Hewins

Here's the inside of my card.  This sheep is stamped directly on the Basic White paper.  The saying is from the Sale-a-Bration stamp set In Your Words.  This set is free with a $300 order during Sale-a-Bration!

Delicate Dahlias from Sale-a-Bration

Welcome to the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #678.  We are using Polished Pink, Smoky Slate, and Basic Black.

I just got the stamp set Delicate Dahlias with my order this week and wanted to use it.  Here is my card.

CCMC#678 Delicate Dahlias Pic by Jo Anne Hewins

Delicate Dahlias can be earned for free with a $100 purchase during Sale-a-Bration during the months of August and September.  It is a beautiful set.  At first I thought I didn't need another flower set.  I don't know why I try to fool myself that way.  I did NEED it!

The base is Polished Pink measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  The Basic Black layer is 3 5/8 x 4 7/8.  The patterned paper measures 3 1/2 x 4 3/4.  This paper is part of the Peaceful Place Designer Series Paper found on page 37 of the August-December Mini catalog.

I stamped the large flower in Memento Black ink directly on the designer paper with the outline stamp.  Stamp Polished Pink with the more solid stamp.  This is a Distinktive set meaning that it has lots of detail packed into a easy to use stamp!

CCMC #678 Delicate Dahlias Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

Stamp the outline of the small flowers (3) on a piece of Basic White and then color it with the more solid stamp in Polished Pink.  You do need to fussy cut these with your snips.

The leaves are in Basic Black.  I add some of the Adhesive Sheets to the back of my black card stock before cutting them out.  I used the Summer Shadows dies, another Sale-a-Bration offering, for the leaves.  With the backing removed they just turn into stickers.

Add the small flowers with dimensionals.

The saying is from the In Your Words stamp set.  Stamp in Memento and then cut out the saying.  Add with dimensionals.  The In Your Words stamp set can be earned for free by making a $300 purchase during Sale-a-Bration!!!

For the inside, add a saying from In Your Words and stamp the dahlia again just as on the outside.

I just going to say that I'm not a big fan of pink and black, but I do think this is a pretty card.  I like these Thursday challenges because it makes me try new things!

Thanks for joining me today.  I appreciate it.  If you need any supplies, now is the time with Sale-a-Bration going on.  You might need to build up some of your stamping basics or add some of that new product from the August-December Mini catalog.  I'm happy to help!

As a reward for a $50 purchase I will email you a compilation of around 20 tutorials by different demonstrators around the US.  You'll see lots of stamp sets and bundles featured with lots of styles from these demos.  These will be emailed after the 20th of the month.  These are quality tutorials!  Please use the Host Code VZZ6MJA9 if your order is under $150.

All Squared Away A Tutorial Medley Tutorial

The Tutorial Medley group is a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators working to together to make something special for you.  Each month we each design a card and write up a tutorial to submit to our group.  Demonstrators can use these in any way they wish.  I choose to use mine as an incentive to you to purchase Stampin' Up! products from me!  You can have the tutorials emailed to you with a $50 purchase.  Tutorials are emailed near the end of the month.  Today I'm sharing my tutorial for August using the All Squared Away bundle.  I have to say I love this card.  I'm so proud of it.

Tutorial Medley All Squared Away

Our CEO Sara Douglass shared a technique using the Spiral Background stamp and embossing.  This is part of my card.  It's all explained in the tutorial.  This is black and white embossing on Vellum.  Here are all of the details and measurements.

All Squared Away

Supplies:

Stamp Sets: All Squared Away (#155087), Bundle (#158382), Spiral Dye (#156927)

Cardstock: Thick Basic White (#159229), Basic Black (#121045), Basic White (#159276), Vellum (#101856)

Ink: Versamark (#102283)

Tools & Accessories: Stamparatus (#146276), Basics Stampin’ Emboss Powders (#155554), Heat Tool (#129053), White Glittered Organdy Ribbon (#156408), Multipurpose Liquid Glue (#110755), Stampin’ Seal (#152813), Foam Adhesive Sheets (#152815), Glue Dots (#103683), Floral Squares Dies (#155961)

Designer Paper: Pattern Party Host DSP (#155426)

Measurements:

Card Base: Basic Black 4 ¼ x 11, score at 5 ½ and at 6 ¾

Cardstock #2: Basic Black 4 1/8 x 4 1/8, 2 1/8 x 2 1/8, 2 x 2

Cardstock #3: Basic White 3 7/8 x 3 7/8, 2 x 2

Cardstock #4: Vellum 4 ¼ x 5 ½ (later trimmed to 3 7/8 x 3 7/8)

Designer Paper #1: 1 1/8 x 5 3/8

Instructions:

Instructions:

Fold card as usual. Fold back on the second score line. Glue the area down between the two score lines. This forms a spine and a square area.

Glue the Pattern Party DSP strip down the spine. Tie the ribbon around and tie into a bow. I find that it’s easier to tie the bow if you put a glue dot under the first tie.

Place the Spiral Dye stamp in the Stamparatus. Put a little dot in a corner of the Vellum to mark the top of the paper. Use an Embossing Buddy or used dryer sheet to help with static on the Vellum. Stamp with Versamark. Use the White Emboss Powder and melt with the Heat Tool. Use Embossing Buddy or dryer sheet again. Turn the Vellum around so that the dot is at the bottom. Stamp again with Versamark. This time used the Black Embossing Powder and melt with the Heat Tool. Trim the Vellum to 3 7/8 x 3 7/8. Try to keep the spiral to the center of the piece. Mount the Vellum onto the Basic White sheet of the same size. I used Stampin’ Seal around all the edges and in the middle.

Add the largest Basic Black piece to the card and then the piece that has the Vellum.

Take the smallest piece of black and cut it with the flower die from the Floral Squares Dies. Stamp the entire surface with Versamark and cover with Clear Emboss Powder. Heat with the Heat Tool.

Add solid black piece to the center of the front with some of the Foam Adhesive Sheets. Now add the smaller white piece and complete with the cut flower piece. Use glue or Seal.

Stamp the saying from All Square Away in Versamark on Basic Black. Add White Emboss Powder and heat. Trim and add with a strip of the Foam Adhesive Sheets.

Thanks for joining me today.  I hope you'll try this card.  I loved embossing on the vellum.  I loved that it used different embossing powders.  We used all of them in the Basics Stampin' Emboss Powders!

Thanks so much for visiting my blog today.  I appreciate you!

Counting Sheep Birthday Fun Fold

Sale-a-Bration is in full swing!  It's a wonderful time.  My favorites just might be the Counting Sheep stamp set and the Sheep dies.  They are so much fun!  I don't want to alarm you, but I'm afraid that the demand for the dies could possibly exceed the amount Stampin' Up! has on hand.  I don't want you to miss out, so take action if this is something you want.  Each product is free with a $50 order.  Let me also mention that you will get free tutorials, over 20, from me emailed to you with a $50 order.  These are tutorials designed and written by great SU demonstrators!!!  These are emailed near the end of the month.  It's a great value.

This is my card for today.

The gate opens for the sentiment.

Counting Sheep Showing Inside Gate by Jo Anne Hewins

The base of this card is Basic Black and measures 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  You will also need a piece of Basic Black cut to 1 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored and folded at 4 1/4.

The thin folded card stock will be added to the bottom of the base.  Just line it up with the bottom and glue.

The dotted paper is from another one of the Sale-a-Bration offerings, the Beautifully Penned Designer Series Paper.  It's another item available free with a $50 purchase.  You'll need a piece cut to 1 1/4 x 4 and another 3 3/4 x 4.  For the small one, use a Blending Brush and Garden Green ink to make the grass.  For the larger one, use a Blending Brush and the Balmy Blue pad to color the sky.

Add the blue paper to the top.

Cut two gates using Soft Suede and the Sheep dies.  Add one gate to the center of the green paper and piece the other gate to each side.  Trim the gate pieces even with the green paper.  Add the green piece to the front of the folded card.

Stamp all three sheep and color using the Smoky Slate Blend Combo pens.  Cut using the Sheep dies.

Glue one sheep to the gate.  Add the other two sheep with dimensionals.

Cut a sun from Daffodil Delight, 2 clouds from Basic White and 1 grass in Garden Green.  Add all.

The saying is from the Counting Sheep.  Stamp in Memento Black and fussy cut around.  Glue.

For the inside, cut a piece of Basic White 1 1/4 x 4.  Stamp the hat and saying in Memento Black.  Color in the hat with a Balmy Blue and Garden Green Stampin' Write Markers.

Penguin Playmates Designer Series Paper Fun Fold Facebook Live 8.11.2021

On my Facebook Live this past Wednesday we made the cutest card using the Penguin Playmates Designer Series Paper.  The best part is that this paper is free during Sale-a-Bration with a $50 purchase.  Some supplies are while supplies last so I wouldn't wait long.  This paper is sure to be very popular.  It pairs perfectly with the Penguin Place bundle with the Penguin Builder Punch that you'll find on page 33 of the August-December Mini Catalog.  Here is my card.

Penguin Place Fun Fold for Facebook Live 8.11.2021 by Jo Anne Hewins

Even better, here is the inside of the card.

Penguin Place Fun Fold for Facebook Live 8.11.2021 Inside of Card by Jo Anne Hewins

Could it be any cuter?  I don't think so.  I'm going to go ahead and share the Facebook Live video now and then I'll share measurement and details.

The base of the card is Fresh Freesia measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Score and fold at 4 1/4.  Make a pencil mark 2 inches up from the right side.  Stamp the long landscape stamp in freesia angled down toward the pencil line.  You'll have to stamp that 2 time.  Trim close to the lines you stamped with snips.  The patterned paper is from the Penguin Playmates Designer Series Paper free from Sale-a-Bration.  Cut this at 4 x 5 1/4.  I love this bold stripe.  The panel is also cut from the same pack of DSP using the Seasonal Labels dies.  The penguin and polar bear are fussy cut with our snips.  Add the bear with dimensionals.  The saying is from the Penguin Place stamp set.  Stamp in Fresh Freesia, trim and add with dimensionals.

For the inside of the card, you'll need a piece of Basic White that measures 3 3/4 x 8 1/2.  Score at 2 1/8, 4 1/4, and 6 3/8.  Fold the folds on the end into the piece and the center fold opposite (mountain fold).  You'll also need 2 pieces of designer paper that measures 4 x 5 1/4 for each inside panel.

The rest of the card is just decorated with cutouts from the designer paper.  Do notice that some of the penguins can be punched out with the Penguin Builder Punch.  Enjoy yourself!

When done decorating, glue down the first panel in the bottom left corner.  Add glue to the shortest panel, fold all the panels correctly and then shut the card.  The panel will glue perfectly in place.

Penguin Place Fun Fold for Facebook Live 8.11.2021 Right Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

All of my cutouts were glued on the inside to keep the card as flat as possible.

This card was so much fun!  I loved making up my scene.  Thanks for joining me.  I hope you'll share my video if you would like.  I also hope you'll subscribe to my YouTube channel and ring the bell for notifications!
