Birthday Sparkle Kit: Overview and Some Alternatives

Hello to you!  Today I have an overview of the Birthday Sparkle Kit.  This kit was released on February 1 and I give it a big thumbs up.  The item number is #163865 and the cost in the US is $23.

Birthday sparkle

I have a video for this kit with some alternative projects.  Warning!  Mistakes were made and words were hard, but I hope you'll take a look anyway.

Birthday Sparkle Kit Just Opened Kit Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Just out of the box, this is what you will find.  The kit is all inclusive.  You will receive a clear block.  You'll notice that I have used my own blocks.  I'll reserve this one for a customer.  You also get a Early Espresso stampin' spot.  I have used my own larger ink pad.  The stamp set is great.  Every stamp is used when making the kit.

Birthday Sparkle Kit Directions Sheet with QR codes Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

The directions are two sided.  One thing I noticed is the section with QR codes.  You can access a video for a beginner stamper and another video with the instuctions.  It's great that every effort has been made to make kit assembly a successful experience for everyone.

Birthday Sparkle Kit Completed Cards and Tags According to Instructions Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Here are the completed projects according to the directions.

Birthday Sparkle Kit Supplies for one card with personal blocks Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

These are the supplies for the balloon card.  It could be a little bit of a challenge to get the sticks stamped for the balloons.  But I must say that assembly of the card was a lot of fun.  Stamping the designs on the individual balloons was easy.  It is a little hard to see the shapes on the gold glimmer piece, but I love how easy to just pull off stickers and add them to the project.

Birthday Sparkle Kit Supplies for candle card with personal blocks Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

This is the second card.  Assembly is easy.  There are double dimensionals with the frame and the sentiment piece so it could mean a little extra postage.

Birthday Sparkle Kit Supplies for both tags with personal blocks Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

These are the supplies for the tags.  In the video I had trouble with the cupcake.  Make sure that you stamp the words a little higher so that the cupcake paper does not cover the words.  I had thought to make the cupcake without dimensionals in order to add it to a card with dimensionals for easier postage.  This does not work with the stick.  Both of the tags are as cute as they can be.  The candle tag can be made without dimensionals to add to a card.

Birthday Sparkle Kit Alternative Note Cards Shown in Video for Tags Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Opps!  Looks like there is a stray dimensional paper in there.  Sorry about that!  Can you find it?

In the video I show a few alternatives using the Kraft Note Cards & Envelopes and the Basic White Note Cards & Envelopes.  Additional supplies not in the kit were from the Nature's Sweetness Designer Series Paper, Silver & Gold Adhesive-Backed Glimmer Paper from the Online Exclusives, Beautiful Balloons dies, Radiating Stitches dies from the Online Exclusives, Neutrals Adhesive-Backed Sequins.  Don't tell anyone but I also used a small piece of Kraft paper from the retired Kraft 6 x 6 should you have that.  It matches perfectly.

Tag Card with gold frame:  Gold piece is 3 x 4 1/2, cut out 2nd rectangle from Radiating Stitches dies and save for another use.  Nature's Sweetness grid DSP 2 3/4 x 4 1/4.

Tag Card with gold strip:  Nature's Sweetness with gold dots is 3 3/8 x 4 7/8.  Gold strip is 3/4 x 3 3/8.

Striped Strip on White Note Card.  Early Espresso 7/8 inches wide.  White or Kraft strip is 3/4 inches wide to get the stamp to work.

Watch the video to see how I used the dots stamp to make a background and how I used the stripe stamp to get that striped strip of paper.  For one of the backgrounds stamp the words stamps and the little curly one all over.  You can stamp the envelope flap as well.

Birthday Sparkle Kit Two Projects with Left Over Supplies Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

These note cards were made using the extra pieces of the kit.  For the card on the left, I cut the balloon flag and tiny balloon using the Beautiful Balloons dies and the gold glimmer paper.  I suggest stamping the stick for the balloon first.  I didn't and I did not match the stick to the balloon very well hince the tiny gold balloon.  We cover our mistakes, right?  I used a sponge dauber and Early Espresso ink to outline the large punched out piece and the balloons.  I did not do that on the large white balloon.  I think it needs the color to stand out.

Birthday Sparkle Kit All Alternative Projects Shown in Video for Tags Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

So here are my projects.  I did not come up with alternatives for the large cards.  I really like them the way they are.  I did enjoy my time with making tags into cards and with the extra pieces.

In the video I said something about the box that you get in the Kraft Note Cards & Envelopes, but I forgot to get back to it.  Here is a picture of that.  It's a fantastic sturdy box with a lid.  Love it.  I got it together and I'm sometimes challenged for that kind of thing.

Kraft Note Cards and Envelopes Birthday Sparkle Kit Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create Card in Box

Here I laid down one of the punch outs not needed for the kit.  Just decorate as you wish for a great gift.  The regular sized cards will not fit in there.

Kraft Note Cards and Envelopes Birthday Sparkle Kit Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Here is the box with one on the cards on top.  Wouldn't that make a great decoration for the box!

I thank you so much for your presence today.  I know you are busy.  My video is long and a little bit of a disaster.  I think it's worth it.  Love to all of you and I hope you have the best day ever!

NC Blog Hop for December Bling Y'all

I hope your Christmas was wonderful and I welcome you to the NC Demo Blog Hop for December on this last day of 2023.  It's only a few days until the January-April 2023 Mini Catalog goes live.  January 4th please get here!  It's hard to wait.  Our theme this month is Bling!  That's great with this being New Year's Eve, but bling is not my thing!  I felt my best thing to do was to use the Most Adored Designer Series Paper from the upcoming Sale-a-Bration promotion.  Sale-a-Bration is a great time to earn free craft items just by purchasing products you want anyway!  This promotion goes from January 4th to February 29th.

NC Blog Hop January 2024 Stack Cut Shuffle Technique Trio of Cards Most DSP Adored for SAB Thoughtful Expressions Bundle Perennial Postage bundle Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

The Most Adored Specialty Designer Series Paper has one side with beautiful gold patterns.  The other side of the paper has Flirty Flamingo and Real Red.  You'll find this paper on page 9 of the Sale-a-Bration brochure.  I'm trying the Stack, Cut, and Shuffle Technique.  With this technique you actually create three cards at once!!!  I did not have time to make a video, but this technique is popular.  Search for it on Pinterest or YouTube and you'll find it.

The first step for my cards is to cut three different pieces of specialty paper that are stacked together to 3 3/4 x 5.  Keep the stack together as we cut.  If you have a piece with a direction to it, make sure to place it as needed.

NC Blog Hop January 2024 Stack Cut Shuffle Technique Most DSP Adored for SAB Thoughtful Expressions Bundle Perennial Postage bundle First Cut of Stack Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Here is the first cut.  There are no measurements for this.  Start somewhere near the top left and cut at an angle to the lower right.  I don't recommend going to the corner.

NC Blog Hop January 2024 Stack Cut Shuffle Technique Most DSP Adored for SAB Thoughtful Expressions Bundle Perennial Postage bundle 3 Stacks Shuffled Second Cut of Stack Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

For the second cut, go down the left side and cut at an angle over toward the right intersecting somewhere on the cut you just made.

NC Blog Hop January 2024 Stack Cut Shuffle Technique Most DSP Adored for SAB Thoughtful Expressions Bundle Perennial Postage bundle 3 Stacks Shuffled Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

This is how the pieces will look once cut.  Shuffle the pieces by placing them as they would go on the card first with the first piece cut, then the second and the third.

NC Blog Hop January 2024 Stack Cut Shuffle Technique Most DSP Adored for SAB Thoughtful Expressions Bundle Perennial Postage bundle Pieces of the cards shuffled Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

My card base is Thick Basic White 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored and folded at 4 1/4.  I've also cut a piece of Real Red to 3 7/8 x 5 1/8.  You'll need 3 of each of these.

Glue the pieces one by one to the red layer leaving a little space around the outside, but no space between the pieces.  I'll admit that my space around the outside did not end up even for each of my panels.  In that case just trim a tiny bit to make them the same.

NC Blog Hop January 2024 Stack Cut Shuffle Technique Most DSP Adored for SAB Thoughtful Expressions Bundle Perennial Postage bundle Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Attach the Real Red panels to the center of each of the card bases.

I did make a different focal piece for each of the cards using lots of new products.  Here we go!

NC Blog Hop January 2024 Stack Cut Shuffle Technique Most DSP Adored for SAB Thoughtful Expressions Bundle Perennial Postage bundle Card 3 Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

For this card I used Gold Foil along with Basic White.  Cut the foil using the Thoughtful Expression dies.  I used the 3rd from the inside of this shape.  I cut the die with three little flowers from the inside of this one.  You can cut all at one time.  The hole you make will be covered with the white.  Stamp the saying in Real Red on white.  Cut with the smallest die of that shape.  Be careful to line it up so that the saying is straight and so that it will coinside with the gold one.  Glue the two together.

The Real Red ribbon is part of the Real Red & Garden Green Ribbon Combo Pack from the annual catalog.  Cut a piece that is about 7 inches long and tape to the back of the saying label.  Use dimenstionals to add to the card.  I tried to place these pieces over the place where the three pieces of DSP come together.

Now add the flowers with glue dots.  Put a gem in the center of each from the Adhesive Backed Sparkle Gems.

NC Blog Hop January 2024 Stack Cut Shuffle Technique Most DSP Adored for SAB Thoughtful Expressions Bundle Perennial Postage bundle Card 2 Close up Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

For this card, I also used the Thoughtful Expressions dies.  Check out these dies on page 62 of the mini.  They are truly some of the most versatile dies ever!  The saying is from the Thoughtful Expressions stamp set.  You'll need the bundle!  Again, I cut the leaves from the inside of the gold piece.  I used the same ribbon and embellishments.

NC Blog Hop January 2024 Stack Cut Shuffle Technique Most DSP Adored for SAB Thoughtful Expressions Bundle Perennial Postage bundle Card 2 Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

For this focal point I used the Perennial Postage dies.  The saying is from the Perennial Postage stamp set.  You'll need this bundle as well!  Oh, you will love this new catalog!  For the saying, ink up the enjoy only by stamping from the side of the ink pad.  Cut with the smallest die.  Now stamp the rest of the saying on scrap white.  Trim around that part and add near the bottom with dimensionals.  I used the same ribbon in a different way and the same gems.

NC Blog Hop January 2024 Stack Cut Shuffle Technique Most DSP Adored for SAB Thoughtful Expressions Bundle Perennial Postage bundle Verticle Trio Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

So, not being a bling person, I wondered how this technique would look with the other side of the Most Adored DSP.  So I  lined up another stack and cut it with the other side.  I make the cards in exactly the same way except I used the Basic White Herringbone Ribbon from the annual catalog.  What do you think?

NC Blog Hop January 2024 Stack Cut Shuffle Technique Most DSP Adored for SAB Trio of Cards Using the Flip Side of DSP Thoughtful Expressions Bundle Perennial Postage bundle Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Let me know which ones you like best.

At the time of this post I will not be able to link to the new products that I used.  I'll make a list of them after the hop list.  Then you can add them to your shopping list.

My post has been quite long.  It's time to pass the torch to Toni Campana.  I hope you'll check out each of the participants for our hop today.  All are so talented.

The New Layered Florals 3D Embossing Folder

The Layered Florals 3D Embossing Folder is magnificent.  If there is something you absolutely need, it's this folder.  Put it on your list.

Layered Florals EF Card Nature's Sweetness DSP Simply Elegant Trim Heartfelt Hexagons bundle Stippled Roses dies Lovely and Sweet Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Look at the depth of the embossing.  I just love it!

This card is on a base of Pebbled Path 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored and folded at 4 1/4.

Another new feature is the gorgeous paper.  It's the Nature's Sweetness Designer Series Paper.  I put a strip of it down the left of the card.  It's 1 x 5 1/2.

Cut a strip of Pebbled Path 3 1/4 x 5 1/2.  Run it through the Cut & Emboss Machine and just look at what you have.  Pure beauty!  Glue this to the front of the card butted up next to the designer paper.  This is the time to look and see if you need to trim any of the pieces that might not quite fit.

Layered Florals EF Card Nature's Sweetness DSP Simply Elegant Trim Heartfelt Hexagons bundle Stippled Roses dies Lovely and Sweet Close Up Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

For the focal point of the card, I used the Heartfelt Hexagon bundle.  The outline of the stamp is separate.  Kind of toss the stamp down and allow it to adjust itself.  Then adhere to the clear block.  This will help when you are ready to punch.  Stamp in Pebbled Path.  Now stamp the saying in the center.  It's easy because this is a photopolymer set.  You can see where you need to put it.  Punch it out with the Heartfelt Hexagon Punch.

I used the silver trim from the Simply Elegant Trim to dress up the card.  I'm not sure it really needs this.  So consider leaving this part off.  I think I will next time.  Run the trim around the card along the seam.  Tape it under where the saying will go.   Tie a bow to add with a glue dot when ready.

Add the saying with dimensionals being careful to place them so that they are not over the trim.

The leaves are cut from Soft Sea Foam using the Stippled Roses dies.  Now those dies are super neat!  I love the detail in them.  Cut the leaves and add jutting out from the saying.

The embellishments I used are no longer available.  I would suggest the Adhesive Backed Sparkle Gems from the Online Exclusives.

I thank you for your time.  This is a lovely card that won't take a lot of time especially if you leave off the silver trim.  I think people will be impressed!  Since some of these products are not yet available (January 4th, 2024), I'll add them with their numbers.  You might want to add them to your list.

Doggone Friendly Sneak Peek

I don't have a dog, not since I was a teenager.  Something about this new background stamp just tugged at me.  It's called Doggone Friendly.  I do have lots of friends who love dogs.  I dedicate this card to the ones who strive to make all dogs safe and well fed.  You know who you are!  This stamp set is in the January-April Mini catalog.

Doggone Friendly Country Bouquet Artistically Inked Softly Stippled DSP Bright and Beautiful DSP Alphabet A La Mode dies Lost Lagoon Bordered Ribbon Glossy Dots Assortment Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

There are so many dogs.  Maybe you can see your dog, or one that you had, or a friend had, well you can see where this is going.

The base of this card is Gray Granite.  It measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and is scored at 4 1/4.

Next is a layer of Lost Lagoon that is 3 3/4 x 5.

For the dogs cut a piece of designer paper from the Softly Stippled Designer Series Paper.  While Pebbled Path is listed as one of the colors in the pack, this plain side is more Gray Granite to me.  Cut this to 3 5/8 x 4 7/8.  The Softly Stippled paper is one of the free choices for Sale-a-Bration during January and February.

Doggone Friendly Close Up Country Bouquet Artistically Inked Softly Stippled DSP Bright and Beautiful DSP Alphabet A La Mode dies Lost Lagoon Bordered Ribbon Glossy Dots Assortment Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

The Doggone Friendly stamp is stamped directly on the designer paper in Gray Granite ink.  This is a background stamp.  I know we don't have the Stamparatus anymore, but I did use it for this stamp.  I was able to stamp more than once.  I think I need to reink my pad.  This stamp does take the largest block we have.  Some people haven't purchased that one.  I just can't get rid of my Stamparatus.  Glue the stamped DSP to the Lost Lagoon card stock.

Cut a piece of Bright & Beautiful DSP that is 3/4 x 3 3/4.  Glue this just below the center of the card.  I use my Grid Paper to make sure that the strip is straight.  Below gluing you might want to stamp (just in case) on the strip.  My saying is from the Country Bouquet stamp set and is in Lost Lagoon.

You might wonder sometimes while we pick a certain color to use with a card.  For instance this time I chose Lost Lagoon.  I got the Lost Lagoon Bordered Ribbon in my order.  I had gotten it back when the ribbon was on sale.  So, of course I wanted to use it.  I also had the Bright & Beautiful paper on my desk because I need to use it.  I didn't use much of it, but that was my reasoning.  The Softly Stippled paper was also on my desk.  Tie the ribbon around this layer just at the edge of the designer paper.

Add the layer to the center of the card front.  Use dimensionals or use the Foam Adhesive Sheets for this.

Cut the HELLO from Lost Lagoon card stock that is backed with Adhesive Sheets.  This is from the A La Mode Alphabet dies.  Add to the bottom.  I started from the right and added each letter from the end.  It's not exactly centered but I like it.

Finish up the card with the Glossy Dots Assortment.

That's my peek for you today.  Since you can't get this set yet unless you are a demonstrator, I'll add the item number for the Doggone stamp set for you.  You'll want to add this set to your list!
