A Simple Card Using the Prized Peony Stamp Set

Would you like to make a simple, but elegant, card using the Prized Peony stamp set.  You just need to add a little of the Peony Garden Designer Series Paper!  Magic happens!

Prized Peony Card by Jo Anne Hewins

If you need multiples of a card, this is a great one!

Start with a base of Thick Whisper White that measures 4 1/4 x 11.  Score and fold at 5 1/2.

Add a piece of the Peony Gardens patterned paper that measures 4 x 5 1/4.  I like to use our Multipurpose Liquid Glue because it will have a little give to it for a couple seconds.  Add a little strip of the Gray Granite paper across the center.  It measures 3/4 x 4.  This just adds a little interest to the card.

Cut a rectangle from Whisper White using the Stitched So Sweetly dies.  Use the largest rectangle.  Stamp the large peony on this rectangle in Gray Granite ink.  If you are making multiples, I would suggest using the Stamparatus.  You can get a little assembly line going.  I might suggest that you use the Stamparatus anyway.  It's often large to make sure a large stamp is covered with ink.  The Stamparatus would allow you to ink it again if needed.  Add the panel with dimensionals.

The saying for this card comes from the Blossoms in Bloom stamp set.  Stamp in Petal Pink, cut it apart, and then glue to the card.

For the inside, stamp the large peony flower again in Gray Granite.  The saying is stamped in Petal Pink and it is also from the Blossoms in Bloom stamp set.

Happiest of Birthdays and Whale Done

Today I have a card for you using the Happiest of Birthdays and Whale Done.  We'll be using the Stamparatus to help us with this one.  Here's a picture.

Seabed Happiest of Birthdays by Jo Anne Hewins

Begin this card with a card base of Bermuda Bay that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Fold at 4 1/4.

Run a 4 x 5 1/4 piece of Coastal Cabana through the new Stampin' Up! Cut & Emboss machine using the Seabed 3D Embossing Folder.  This folder is so pretty.  There's so much detail.  Make that detail pop by sponging this layer with Bermuda Bay ink.  You don't need to sponge the very center because it will be covered up.

The Whisper White layer is cut using the largest scalloped rectangle from the Stitched So Sweetly dies.

Seabed Happiest of Birthdays Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

We are going to stamp the largest birthday saying from the Happiest of Birthdays stamp set.  I set this up on my Stamparatus so that the saying would be right in the middle of my die cut rectangle.  Use the Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, and Night of Navy Stampin' Write markers to color directly on the stamp.  I'll have a video to show you how to do this.  Start with the lightest color, Coastal Cabana, and color with the bigger point.  I caution against using the point of the marker, but more the side of it.  Color in about 1/3 of the saying and stamp.  Color and stamp again if needed.  Clean the stamp.  Now, using the Bermuda Bay color in the middle of the stamp.  Repeat if needed.  Make sure that all the letters have stamped.  Clean.  Now repeat this whole process with the Night of Navy stamp set.  You have a beautiful ombre effect card.

Here's the video showing how to make this card.

Stamp off with the Coastal Cabana and stamp several of the jelly fish (I did 3) over the words.  Add the dots in Bermuda Bay.  Some are fully inked and some are stamped off.  Add this layer with dimensionals.  Cut a turtle from the Whale of a Time Designer Series Paper to add at the bottom of the layer.  Glue the top and add a dimensional to the bottom where it extends over the layer.  Add some Wink of Stella to give the turtle some glimmer and shine.

Seabed Happiest of Birthdays Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

Here is the inside of the card.  This saying is colored with the markers in the same way as the label on the front.  The jelly fish over the words is stamped off.  The other two are not stamped off.  Add more of the dots.

Misc: Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430), Mini Glue Dots (103683), Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755), Stampin’ Seal (149699)

Measurements:

Card Base: Balmy Blue 5 ½ x 8 ½, fold at 4 ¼

Cardstock #2: Granny Apple Green 3 ¾ x 5

Cardstock #3: Shimmery White 3 5/8 x 4 7/8

Whisper White scrap for label

Instructions:

Stamp around the outside of the Balmy Blue card base with one of the world stamps. Use Versamark ink.

Use both of the world stamps to stamp on the Shimmery White card stock. Start in the center of the card and work out. Alternate the eastern and western hemispheres until the layer is full.

Cover with the white embossing powder and heat until melted.

Add Balmy Blue ink from the pad directly to the top of a clear block E. Now add Granny Apple Green ink in the same way to the bottom of the clear block. Get these colors as close together as possible without messing up your pads. Spritz with water several times. Spritz away from your direct work area. Lay the block on the shimmery paper and move to cover most of the paper with ink. Let this dry.

Adhere this layer to the Granny Apple Green layer. Use Stampin’ Seal generously or the Multipurpose Liquid Glue to make sure it sticks well.

Color a length of about 4 ¼ inches of the Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding with a Dark Balmy Blue Blend. Add across the card and adhere the ends to the back of the layer. Add this on the lower half of the card front.

Add the layers to the card front.

On a Whisper White scrap, stamp the saying from Beautiful World in Granny Apple Green ink. Now stamp a world image over this in Balmy Blue stamping off first. Cut out this label with the Tasteful Labels dies. Add with dimensionals over the ribbon.

Color more of the seam binding with the Dark Balmy Blue Blend to make a bow. The amount needed will vary according to the type of bow. Add with a glue dot.

Whale of a Time Meets Seaside Notions

Hello to you!  I have a really cute card today using the Whale of a Time Designer Series Paper and the Seaside Notions stamp set.  This designer paper is so cute.

Whale of a Time DSP

I love all of the colors in this paper.  It has Balmy Blue, Blackberry Bliss, Bumblebee, Calypso Coral, Granny Apple Green, Just Jade, Pacific Point, Pool Party, Pretty Peacock, Shaded Spruce, and Whisper White.  Wow!   We are using Pretty Peacock today.

Seaside Notions by Jo Anne Hewins

You will need a base of Pretty Peacock that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  Stamp around the outside of the card front with Pretty Peacock ink.  Use the jelly fish, the little fish, and the seahorse.  Stamp randomly around.  I usually start with the largest stamp (jelly fish) and then work in the others.

Add a piece of the Whale of a Time designer series paper that measures 3 x 4 in the center.  Use the small seahorse paper.

Stamp the large seahorse from the Seaside Notions stamp set in Pretty Peacock.  Color this in with the Light Pretty Peacock Blend.  Add the dots using the stamp from Seaside Notions.  Some is stamped and some stamped off.  Cut this out with the Stitched Nested Labels.  Add with dimensionals.

Seaside Notions and Whale Done Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

The saying is also from Seaside Notions.  Stamp in peacock.  Punch this out with the Classic Label Punch.  Glue over the seahorse label and add a dimensional to the other end.

Add some of the Artistry Blooms sequins to finish the front of the card.

Seaside Notions and Whale Done Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

The inside of the card is all Seaside Notions.  Stamp the coral in Pretty Peacock and color in with the Light Pretty Peacock Blend.  Add the saying.  Stamp the dots using full strength, stamping off, and stamping off again.

Happiest of Birthdays with Flowers for Every Season DSP

It's Thursday and the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge.  This week we have a sketch.

CCMC622 p90

We are again doing a CASE of the catalog from page 90.  I chose to use the Happiest of Birthdays stamp set for my card.

CCMC #622 Happiest of Birthdays by Jo Anne Hewins

Start with a base of Bumblebee card stock that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.

Add strips of designer paper from the Flowers of Every Season 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper.  Each strip is 1 1/4 x 4 3/4.  Adhere with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  Each strip is a little askew.

On a piece of Whisper White, about 3 1/4 x 4 1/4, stamp the large stamp from Happiest of Birthdays.  I used the Stamparatus to help with this.  Leave a little room for a ribbon across the top.  Use a sponge dauber to add Bumblebee ink to the stamp.  Go part way down.  Stamp.  If needed, ink up again using the sponge dauber and stamp.  You want the image to be solid and dark.  Clean the stamp.  Now repeat this process and use the sponge dauber to add Magenta Madness to the rest of the stamp.  Be sure that the entire image is printed.  Stamp and then repeat if needed.  This gives a pretty two tone look to the saying.

Cut this out using the largest rectangle from the Stitched So Sweetly die.  I did trim straight across the top for a flat edge.  This was in keeping with the CASE.  It does not have to be trimmed.

CCMC #622 Happiest of Birthdays Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

Tie some of the Bumblebee Gingham Ribbon around the top of this banner and tie into a knot.  I did put a glue dot under my knot to hold it in place.

Add this banner with dimensionals.

Finish off the card with some of the 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots in Magenta Madness.

CCMC #622 Happiest of Birthdays Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

I used the same technique for the words on the inside of this card.  They are also from the Happiest of Birthdays stamp set.  Add strips across the bottom of the inside.  These measure 1/2 x 5.

That's it.  This is a pretty easy card.  The paper designs and colors make it pop!  And, I love that Bumblebee Gingham Ribbon, don't you!  To see another card using Happiest of Birthdays go here.
