Facebook Live 2.24.2021 Pop-up Card with Butterfly Brilliance

Today I want to share with you the card we made on Facebook Live this past Wednesday.  I used the soon to be available Butterfly Brilliance stamp set along with the Brilliant Wings dies.  They do come together as the Butterfly Brilliance bundle.  Look below for a link to a flyer about these items!  Here is the card front, but the surprise is on the inside!

Butterfly Brillance Pop Up Card by Jo Anne Hewins

The card base is Basic Black measuring 4 1/4 x 11, scored and folded at 5 1/2.

Finish the inside of the card first.  I decorated the 4 x 5 1/4 piece of Basic White at the bottom.  I used the True Love black and white designer series paper.  I needed just a 3/4 x 4 piece of the dots and a 1/2 x 4 piece of the diagonal stripe.  Adhere so that a little of the diagonal shows along the top.  Add the whole piece to the bottom of the inside.

The saying is from the Happy Thoughts stamp set on page 28 of the Jan-June Mini.  Make sure you leave room for the inside mechanism when stamping.

Butterfly Brillance Pop Up Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

The mechanism is also in Basic Black.  I think it looks better to match the card base color.  It measures 3 1/2 x 4 1/4.  Score at 3/4, 1 1/2, 2 1/4, 3 on the short side.  Fold and burnish your folds all in the same direction.  We are making a box.  Add glue or Tear & Tape to the smallest area.  Adhere to make the box.  Watch the video for a good tip.

You want the seam of the box to be hidden in the seam of the card fold so that it won't show.  Add adhesive to the bottom of the box and add to the card.  Get it as close to the fold as possible but you do want it to be able to fold.  Now add adhesive to the box side that goes to the back of the card front.  Simply fold the card closed to adhere this.  You might want to watch the video is make it more clear.

For the front of the card, I used the Oh So Ombre Designer Series Paper.  Remember that Sale-a-Bration ends on Sunday, February 28th.  If you want this paper don't wait!  Cut the paper to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8.  Stamp the butterflies from the Butterfly Brilliance stamp set in Bermuda Bay on this paper.  Use the Stamparatus.  I have some tips on the video.

Butterfly Brillance Pop Up Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

The dotted paper is from the True Love Designer Series Paper.  Cut a strip that is 1 1/4 x 5 3/8.  Cut the largest oval from the Stitched Shapes dies using the diagonal stripe paper.  Use the Brilliant Wings dies to cut the detailed butterfly from Bermuda Bay card stock.  Add with dimensionals on the body of the butterfly.

The saying is from the Punch Party stamp set (from Sale-a-Bration if you spend $300).  I got the shape from the Messages dies from page 35 of the Jan-June Mini.  Stamp in Memento Black ink.  Put a 1/2 inch strip of the Oh So Ombre paper behind the saying.

To decorate the pop-up of the card, stamp the butterflies from Butterfly Brilliance on the circle paper from Oh So Ombre and on a Basic White piece.  Cut using the dies from Brilliant Wings.  They cut all the butterflies at one time.  That's pretty neat.

Butterfly Brillance Pop Up Side View by Jo Anne Hewins

When adding the pieces remember that you don't want anything to stick out from the sides.  You want to be careful of any glue that could make the card unable to open.  You can make the pieces more sturdy by putting glue dots where needed.

So here is the video.  I hope it makes my directions more clear.

The Butterfly Brilliance bundle will be in the new upcoming 2021-2022 annual catalog.  There are some beautiful designer papers that are available as well.  Find the flyer here.  These items are available for demonstrators now and for everyone March 2 through May 3rd.  The bundle will be available later, but the designer paper is while supplies last.

Yet Another In Bloom Bundle Card

I just can't stop!  I am in love with the In Bloom bundle.  I absolutely love the stitching on the flowers.  I shared a fun fold designer series paper card yesterday using the bundle and today I'm back with another card using the bundle.  I was asked to make a card with my favorite stamp set so here we go again.  Here is today's card.

In Bloom Bundle Card by Jo Anne Hewins (2)

To be honest here, I had extra flowers that I had cut for other projects.  I saved them.  This card ended up being a quickie because of that.    I added some leaves and just a couple flowers to my stash.

The card base is Basic Black measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, score and fold at 4 1/4.

The Basic White layer is cut to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8.  Use the Dainty Diamonds Embossing Folder and then glue to the card base.

Punch a jar from Crumb Cake using the Jar Punch.  Run the jar through the Cut & Emboss Machine with the Painted Texture Embossing Folder.  Sponge over the jar with Crumb Cake ink.  Run some Linen Thread around the lip of the jar taping it on the back.  Add the jar to the bottom of the card with dimensionals.  Add a Linen bow with a glue dot.

Stamp the saying with the words Happy Birthday in Memento ink and cut around those words.  Glue to the jar.

In Bloom Bundle Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

Cut flowers of different sizes and colors using the Pierced Blooms dies.  Cut the leaves in Garden Green.  Colors used for the flowers are Cherry Cobbler, Bumblebee, So Saffron, Pool Party, Rococo Rose, Misty Moonlight, Night of Navy, Basic Black, and Basic White.  Use some dimensionals to adhere and glue some of them.  Have fun with it!  Add a small flower and leaf at the bottom of the jar.

Did you know that you can curl Linen Thread with your Bone Folder.  You do it just like curling ribbon.

In Bloom Bundle Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

The saying on the inside is from the In Bloom stamp set.  Stamp in Memento Black.  Add a cut out flower to the inside of the card.

Thanks for stopping by today!  I'm so happy that you did.  I love sharing with you.  If you should need a Stampin' Up! demonstrator I would love to earn your business.

Free Tutorial Tuesday Art Gallery

Are you ready for the free Tuesday tutorial?  Well, here it is!  I have a card for you today using the Art Gallery bundle.  You can find it in the Jan-June Mini catalog on page 34.  Here is the card for today.  Once again, I did not design this card.  Wish I could say that I did.

Tutorial Medley Art Gallery with Acetate
This card is so beautiful and elegant.  Here are all the details.

Supplies:

Stamp Sets: Art Gallery (154421)

Cardstock: Old Olive (100702), Basic White (159276)

Designer Series Paper: Fine Art Floral (154558), Golden Garden Designer Specialty Acetate (154557)

Ink: Petal Pink(146985), Rococo Rose (150882), Old Olive (100702), Merry Merlot (146979)

Tools and Embellishments: Floral Gallery Dies (154316), Gilded Leafing Embellishment (154560), Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430), Glue Dots (103683), Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755), Tear ’n Tape Adhesive (138995), Stampin’ Seal+ (149699), Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack (152475)

Measurements:

Old Olive Cardstock: 4 1/4” x 5 1/2” (two pieces), strip 3/8” x 4 1/4”

Golden Garden Designer Specialty Acetate 6” x 4 1/4” with matching piece of Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper

Instructions:

Stamp and die-cut the large flower using Petal Pink and Rococo Rose inks, and the stem with Old Olive.

Using Multipurpose Liquid Glue, draw a few very fine lines on the darker areas of the flower. Leave until the glue turns clear and tacky, then embellish with Gilded Leafing.

Stamp and die-cut the sentiment using Merry Merlot ink.

Score the acetate at 5 1/2”. Using Tear ’n Tape or Stampin’ Seal +, attach the small flap to the back of one piece of Old Olive Cardstock. Attach the second piece of Old Olive Cardstock to the back, to cover up the acetate flap (optional.)

Trim a diagonal section from the Designer Series Paper, keeping the bottom section. The piece in the photo is approximately 3” one side and 1 3/4” the other. Cut a piece of Old Olive and Basic White the same size. (Make the Basic White very slightly shorter so that it doesn’t show when the card is closed.)

Lay the Designer Series Paper between the acetate and Old Olive cardstock, making sure it lines up with the acetate. Do not adhere yet.

Attach sentiment to the strip of Old Olive cardstock, and attach this to the acetate with Dimensionals.

Adhere flower stem to acetate, and attach flower with Dimensionals.

Open the card and put Stampin’ Seal on the back of the acetate behind the sentiment strip and lower part of the leaves. Attach the Designer Series Paper, making sure it lines up correctly with the acetate.

Attach the matching Old Olive diagonal piece of cardstock to the back of the Designer Series Paper.

Stamp your choice of flowers and/or sentiment onto the Basic White diagonal piece, and adhere to the Old Olive card base, making sure it is in the same direction as the Designer Series Paper.

Die-cut one more large flower from Old Olive cardstock and adhere to the acetate on the inside of the card so that the Dimensionals do not show.

Tie a bow using two pieces of gold twine from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack and attach with a glue dot.

There you have it.  There are additional pictures on the tutorial.  To download, Download Art Gallery Tutorial Medley (1).

I know you will enjoy this tutorial.  I thank you for your time today.  If you need a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, please let me earn your business.  Have a wonderful day.

Fun Fold with the Paper Blooms Designer Series Paper

Do you have lots of designer series paper?  Use it!  I'm talking to myself!  Today I have a card for you that uses that paper!

Paper Blooms DSP Fun Fold by Jo Anne Hewins

Here's the front of the card.  It uses the free Sale-a-Bration paper called Paper Blooms Designer Series Paper.  You can get it for free until February 28th with a $50 purchase.  It also has beautiful flowers made with the Pierced Blooms dies.  The dies are part of the In Bloom bundle.  It's my favorite from the Jan-June Mini Catalog.  Here is a picture of the rest of the card!

Paper Blooms DSP Fun Fold Card Open by Jo Anne Hewins

Let's get down to the details.  The designer paper is cut to 5 1/2 x 12.  That's almost a half sheet of the DSP.  Pick a pattern that coordinates well on the front and the back since both will show.  Score on the only side at 3 1/2 and 7 3/4.  Fold in a zig zag folding into the base.

To decorate the inside, I cut a strip of yet another piece of designer paper that is 1/2 x 5 1/2.  For the Basic White layer, cut to 3 1/4 x 5 1/2.  The saying is from the In Bloom stamp set.  Stamp in Night of Navy ink.  The flower is stamped with images from the same stamp set.  Use Rococo Rose and Night of Navy to coordinate with the designer paper.

Paper Blooms DSP Fun Fold Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

For the front, I cut a rectangle from yet another piece of designer paper from the pack using the Stitched So Sweetly dies.  I used the second largest rectangle.  This might not be necessary.  I almost covered mine completely.  Add the rectangle to the center of the front panel.

Stamp the saying on Basic White 7/8 x 3 in navy.  Add in the center with dimensionals.

Paper Blooms DSP Fun Fold Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

The flowers are cut from Rococo Rose, Night of Navy, Petal Pink, and Basic White.  Use the flowers on the designer paper as a guide.  Add some with dimensionals.

Finish with a bow of Blushing Bride twine from the Snail Mail Twine Combo.

Paper Blooms DSP Fun Fold Open by Jo Anne Hewins

This is a pretty easy card.  You can use any of the designer paper and create a very different look.  Enjoy!

Facebook Live 2.17.2021 Two Versions of the Swing Fold Card

Happy Saturday!  Today I'm sharing my Facebook Live from this past Wednesday, February 17th.  We are making two versions of a Swing Fold card.  We'll be using the Sweet Ice Cream bundle with the Ice Cream Cone Builder Punch and the Sweet Strawberry bundle with the Strawberry Builder Punch.  Unfortunately, both of these punches are on the not orderable list.  The projected date is February 22nd.  Let's keep our fingers crossed!  I think you are going to love these cards.

Swing Fold Duo by Jo Anne Hewins

So the measurements for these cards are the same.  The card base is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored and folded at 4 1/4.

The designer paper on the front is 4 x 5 1/4.  Add to the front of the card with glue around the outside edges.  Open the card and cut out with a shape.  I used the Stitched Nested Labels for one and the Stitched So Sweetly dies for the other.  Cut out of the center of the card front.  Any shape would work here.

The insert inside measures 5 1/4 x 8.  Score at 2, 4, and 6.  The sentiment for the card will go on the far right.  Go ahead and stamp it.  I used the Stamparatus in case I wanted the sentiment to be darker.  Fold the insert in half with the sentiment showing on top.  Now fold the insert over on top of itself.  I messed this up on the first card so pay attention to the second one.  Sorry about that.

Glue down the 2 inch section with the sentiment to the right side of the inside of the card where it would normally go.

If you want to put in designer paper on the next two sections, now is the time.  Each would measure 1 7/8 x 5 3/8.

Cut a shape from Basic White the exactly the same as the cut out.  Decorate the piece as you wish.

Fold the insert so that it lies flat with the left section where the left side of the layer would usually go.  When you close the card, you'll see 1/2 of the layer with the designer paper through the opening you cut.  Put glue on the little half section only.  Add your decorated shape right through the opening in the card front.  Only half of it will adhere.

Open the card.  Add glue to the left hand section.  The glue will go on top of this section.  Do not put any glue under the decorated insert, but you can go around it.  Shut the card and glue this section to the front.

Here is the video and I'll follow with my pictures.  I think I probably got a little wordy up there!

For the first card, the base was Blackberry Bliss.  The Ice Cream Corner Designer Series Paper was used.  I added a bow of the Blackberry Bliss Striped Sheer Ribbon and added some of the Purple Posy dots from the Ice Cream Corner Sprinkles.  I used the Sweet Ice Cream bundle with the Ice Cream Cone Builder Punch.

Swing Fold Sweet Ice Cream by Jo Anne Hewins

Swing Fold Sweet Ice Cream Open by Jo Anne Hewins

For the second card, I used Pacific Point for the card base.  I used the Sweet Strawberry stamp set.  The Sale-a-Bration free items Berry Blessings + Berry Delightful Designer Series Paper was also used.  Add some of the Elegant Faceted Gems on the front.  I added a bow of White Crinkled Seam Binding.  I stamped the Stitched So Sweetly piece with Garden Green, Night of Navy, and Pacific Point ink.  Stamp off the inks for the inside of the leaves and berries.
