Framed Florets Bundle with Design a Daydream Designer Series Paper

The Framed Florets stamp set and coordinating Framed Florets dies are beautiful.  This bundle along with a few other limited items is available to you now.  If you would like to see the flyer go here.  The bundle will be in the upcoming Mini catalog beginning on January 5th.  The other items are while supplies last.  We made this card in my classes last week and I wanted to share it with you.

Framed Florets Design a Daydream DSP Natural Finish Ribbon Linen Thread Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

The base for this card is Old Olive 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Fold at 4 1/4.

The patterned paper for the front is from the Design a Daydream Designer Series Paper.  It is from the HOST items at the back of the annual catalog.  Cut to 4 x 5 1/4.

The frame from the Framed Florets dies is cut from another design from the same pack of paper.  Glue to the center of the card front.  Stamp the saying from the Framed Florets stamp set in Blackberry Bliss in the center of the frame.  This is a photopolymer set so it's easy to have great placement for the saying.

There are two of the large leaf stems cut in Blackberry Bliss cardstock.  Three leaves are cut from Old Olive cardstock.  My advice is to use Adhesive Sheets on one side of the cardstock and cut from the other side.  Peal off the backing and you'll have easy to apply stickers!

Framed Florets Design a Daydream DSP Natural Finish Ribbon Linen Thread Close Up of Card Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

For the bow begin with a 3 inch length of Natural Finish Ribbon.  Fold the ribbon in half at the end and cut from the fold out to the corner.  Do the same on the other end to get the notches.  Take a 5 inch length of Linen Thread and fold in half.  Tie this around the center of the wider ribbon.  Watch and help the ribbon gather up in an attractive way.  Trim the ends at about 3/4 of an inch.  Use the Take Your Pick Tool to pull the strands apart.  Add the bow with a glue dot.

Stamp three flowers on Basic White in Memento Black ink.  Color with the light and dark Balmy Blue Blends Combo and cut out with the dies.  Add the flowers with dimensionals.

For the inside of the card, stamp a saying and add a few more of the flowers.

Framed Florets Bundle Paired with the Summer Shadows Dies

I have a card for you today that uses the Framed Florets Bundle that went live to everyone on November 1st.  I made this card a birthday card, but I think it would make a beautiful wedding card with a different saying.

Framed Florets Quatrefoil Tile EF Summer Shadows dies Gold Foil Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

The frames in the Framed Florets dies are so fancy and pretty, I thought a card in Very Vanilla would be perfect.  The base of the card is Thick Very Vanilla 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, score and fold at 4 1/4.

Cut a piece of basic Very Vanilla 4 1/8 x 5 3/8.  Run this through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine with the Quatrefoil Tile Embossing Folder.  It's so pretty and works right in with the pretty.  Glue this to the front of the card.

Use Very Vanilla again to cut  first the frame with the cut outs around it.  Now cut the other frame from Very Vanilla as well.  Be sure to keep the center oval.  Glue the cut out frame to the center of the card.  Now glue the other frame.  This one is a little larger and overlaps the first frame just a little bit.

Framed Florets Quatrefoil Tile EF Summer Shadows dies Gold Foil Close Up Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Use an Embossing Buddy on the oval center.  Stamp the saying from Framed Florets with VersaMark.  Add gold emboss powder and melt with the Heat Tool.  The embossing powder comes in a pack called the Metallics Embossing Powders with gold, silver, and copper.  Glue this piece in the center of the ovals.

The gold foil also comes in a pack of Foil Sheets.  Copper and gold are in the pack.  Cut the larger stem and three of the leaves from gold using the Framed Florets dies.

Framed Florets Quatrefoil Tile EF Summer Shadows dies Gold Foil Even Closer Look Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Use the Summer Shadows dies and cut from Very Vanilla the large solid and detailed flower and the smaller solid and detailed flowers.  Cumple the detailed flowers in your hand to add a little dimension.  I cut a circle of gold free hand for the center of the flower.  Glue the circle behind the detail and then glue the two pieces together.  Adhere just in the center.

Figure out where the gold stem and the 2 leaves should be and glue them down.   Add the full flower with dimensionals.

Now glue the bottom of the detailed half flower to the solid along the bottom of the flower.  Add it with dimensionals at the top and glue dots along the bottom.  Glue on the leaf.

Framed Florets Quatrefoil Tile EF Summer Shadows dies Gold Foil Inside of Card Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

For the inside, I gold embossed another saying from Framed Florets and glue on another leaf at the bottom.

Now this is one elegant card!  What do you think?

To see the flyer showing all the products in the Fitted Florets Collection, go here.  The Framed Florets bundle with the Framed Florets dies will be in the January-June Mini catalog.  All of the other products in this collection are while supplies last.  Note:  It is my understanding that Stampin' Up! is going to start naming coordinating stamp sets and dies alike!  Hurray!

NC Demo Blog Post for October - Know When to Fold Them

Let me give you a disclaimer before you read this post.  I use Typepad as my blogging platform.  They are in the process of changing over some things and they are having major problems.  I was set to take part in the NC Blog Hop.  I couldn't due to those problems.  I had to pull out.  Now all is posted.  Most of the hop people took me out as they should they done.  Hops need to be complete.  I am choosing to add the links on my post.  Just note that the hop probably won't be in a complete circle.  Our hop was on fun folds and I know people love those.  You can visit all of the sites by coming back to my post to click on the links.  Thanks for your understanding.  I still don't think all of my pictures are back yet.

Welcome to the NC Demo Blog Hop for October!  Today we are all about the fold.  Everyone loves a fun fold.  Easy or hard we love to figure them out.  What's even better is when someone helps you along and tells you just how it's done.  For me this card started on my birthday when a friend Twila gave me a beautiful fun fold.  She told me she got the fold from Rachel Tessman.  You can find the link for Rachel's video here.  I could make a video, but Rachel's is wonderful.  It's called a Corner Open Fun Fold Card.  By the way Twila and I have the same birthday!

So let me get back to business.  I can get carried away.  We here in North Carolina are so happy that you are here.  We want you to visit all of us because you'll get some great ideas for fun folds!

So here is my card for today.  I'll try to take you through the steps and then remember there's a link above if you need it.

Abigail Rose DSP Basic Card from front Cottage Rose Corner Open Fun Fold Stylish Shapes dies Linen Thread Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels Blends Dragonfly Garden Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

I love this card!  I'm using the Abigail Rose Designer Series Paper.  I think Rachel also used this paper, but mine is completely different.  Start by cutting the paper seen above to 7 x 8 1/4.  This paper does have a specific direction and you'll want to pay attention to that.  With the paper upright with the direction score at 2 3/4 from the left side.  Turn the paper and score at 2 3/4 again.  This time it is actually from the top of the paper.  Burnish the folds with a Bone Folder.  The paper folded down from the top will be upside down.  Don't worry, we'll fix it.

Now, cut a piece of Petal Pink cardstock to 4 x 5 1/4.  Cut a Basic White layer to 3 3/4 x 5.  Layer the white piece on top of the Petal Pink.  The sayings on the white are stamped in Early Espresso.  They are from the Dragonfly Garden stamp set.  Stamp one near the top left and the other at the bottom right.  These layers are the inside of the card and should fit right in the open space left after the folds have been made.

That leaves the corner.  If you are really good you can carefully mash the corner down.  I'm not that good.  So the alternative is to measure from the upper left corner across the top 5 1/2 and down the side 5 1/2.  Make a little pencil mark.  Use the well of your paper trimmer to connect the 2 marks and score.  Burnish the score line into mountain folds with a Bone Folder.  Bring these two folds together and down and the corner will fall into place.  Now, I'm going to just tell you that I had a little trouble here and that's where I went to the video.  I'm a little challenged with that kind of thing.  I did it and you can too!

Abigail Rose DSP Open Cottage Rose Corner Open Fun Fold Stylish Shapes dies Linen Thread Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels Blends Dragonfly Garden Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Cut two pieces of the designer paper that are 2 1/2 x 2 1/2.  I colored one of these with the Petal Pink Combo Blends, Dark So Saffron Blend and the Dark Soft Sea Foam Blend.  I did not color the other one, but of course you could.  Cut a piece of Petal Pink cardstock that is 2 5/8 x 2 5/8.  Layer the colored paper with the Petal Pink and that goes on the outside of the card on the square.  The other piece of designer paper goes on the inside corner.  I did not layer it with Petal Pink but of course you can.

That leaves a section of showing paper that is unside down and we can't have that.  You'll need a piece of designer paper that is 1 1/4 x 2 2 1/2.  Color as above.  Add this to a piece of Petal Pink that is 1 3/8 x 2 5/8.  Add to the card.

Abigail Rose DSP Cottage Rose Corner Open Fun Fold Stylish Shapes dies Linen Thread Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels Blends Dragonfly Garden Close Up Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Stamp the Happy Birthday in Early Espresso on Basic White.  This is from the Cottage Rose stamp set.  Cut out the saying with the Stylish Shapes dies.  Glue to the card making sure not to put adhesive and the part that sticks out beyond that layer of paper.  Add a bow of Linen Thread with a glue dot.

Embellish the card with some of the Champagne Rhinestone Jewels.  If you wish you could always color the rest of the front of the card. That would be so pretty!

I think that does it.  I would love to see some of your samples if you try this card!

Potted Geranium Bundle and the Lovely in Linen DSP

My card might look difficult to you, but I don't really think that it is.  There are steps to make, but just break this kind of card down into steps and it's really doable.

Potted Geraniums Lovely in Linen DSP Geraniums dies Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

I've been seeing cut outs from our dies being used as a background.  I've done it before, but not in a long time.  So I started looking for dies to use.  I wanted something a little larger to cut down on the work.  I decided to use the  Geraniums dies.  This is a die I had not used from the set.  Doesn't it look pretty!  To make it super easy add some of the Adhesive Sheets to the back of your Night of Navy cardstock.  It's so easy to just be able to stick them on.  I cut out 5 of the dies.  I did cut a few apart to add in the shapes where I wanted them, but mostly I used them whole.  If the design extends beyond the cardstock, just turn over the card and trim close to the edge with your paper snips.  For this card I used a tone on tone design, so my base is also Night of Navy measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded in half.

Since I was using the Lovely in Linen Designer Series Paper, I didn't worry about have the design under that area.  There are 2 pieces of DSP in different designs.  They are cut to 2 1/2 x 4.  Pay attention to the direction of the design when cutting.  The bottom piece is glued onto the card straight.  The next layer leans to the right.

Potted Geraniums Card Lovely in Linen DSP Geraniums dies Close Up of Card Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

The geraniums are cut using the Geraniums dies.  For the greenery, I used Mossy Meadow for the detailed part.  For this piece, I added the Adhesive Sheets again to one side of the cardstock.  The solid piece is cut from Parakeet Party CS.  The Parakeet piece sticks right under the Mossy Meadow piece since we used the Adhesive Sheets.  You will need to add some glue behind that part when adding it to the card.

The flowers feature Flirty Flamingo CS in the less detailed cut out.  The more detailed cut out is in Sweet Sorbet.  Add the Adhesive Sheets to the flip side of this paper.  Add the 2 pieces together and glue to the card front.

The saying is from the Potted Geraniums stamp set.  I love that saying!  It's cut out with the Geranium dies.  Beautiful!  This is also glued to the card.  Dimensionals could easily be added to this card.  I chose this time to think about ease of mailing.

The inside uses a stamp from the Potted Geraniums stamp set and some left over scraps from the Lovely in Linen paper.

When you read step by step it really makes this card pretty easy, doesn't it.  I hope you'll try using a die cut for the background element of your card.  I think you'll like it.
