NC Blog Hop for March 2023 Accessories Make Every Project Better!

Accessories

Welcome to the NC Demo Blog Hop for March.  As you know we are coming to the end of the January-April Mini and the 2022-2023 Annual Catalog.  The Last Chance List for both will be out on March 29th.  There's just one more month for both.  It's an in between time for all of us.  Who knows, as we prepare, what is staying and what is going.  So, we are focusing on our designer papers and embellishments.  We are hoping that you can use some of our ideas and apply them with some of the new stuff that's coming.  Oh, I can't wait for new stuff!!!  How about you!

I'm using the By the Bay Designer Series Paper with my card.  It's so pretty.  I've made several projects and used this paper in a class.  I have lots of scraps and decided to use them.  You might be in the same boat.  My base is Thick Basic White 4 1/4 x 11, scored and folded at 5 1/2.  I cut the scraps into 3/4 inch wide strips.  Some are cut to 3 3/4 and some to 4 1/8 inch lengths.  Just start at the left and add the strips one at a time.  I used our Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  I like to lean the strips and overlap them a little.  I used 8 of them.  I tried to use several with gold for a kind of theme.

The saying is from the Dainty Delight stamp set.  Stamp on a piece of Night of Navy scrap with Versamark and emboss with gold.  The gold embossing powder is part of the Metallics Embossing Powders pack.  Cut this out with the smallest rectangle from the Deckled dies.  I also cut a banner from the Stylish Shapes dies using the Distressed Gold Specialty Paper.  Cut the banner in half and glue the ends so that they stick out from each end.  Add the banner with dimensionals in the center of the card.

This banner with all of the added parts is an embellishment.  I cut up some of the shells from another piece of the designer paper to decorate it even more.  It dresses up a plain card.

Ribbon is also an embellishment.  I used the Night of Navy Bordered Ribbon to tie around the card and into a knot.  I just happened to have a bow tied with the gold twine from the Elegant Trim in the Annual Catalog.  I decided to add it just under the knot of the navy ribbon.  I used a glue dot.

My last embellishment was to add some of the Pastel Adhesive-Backed Sequins from the Mini.

I'm loving this card!

Here is the inside of my card.  I used another strip of designer paper and cut some more shells.  The saying is from the Spring Blessings stamp set.  I embossed the saying, but it did not turn out well.  I used this mistake for another way to embellish the inside.  I embossed it on Night of Navy and it out with the banner from Stylish Shapes dies again.

I mentioned that the Last Chance Lists will come out for the January-April Mini and for the 2022-2023 Annual Catalog on the 29th of March.  Let me remind you that there will be a color refresh with the next annual catalog.  Retiring colors and items may go quickly.  There will be some discounts beginning on April 4th.  Some of the items discounted may be gone before April 4th.  Just a warning:  Retiring items are While Supplies Last.  That means when they are gone, they really are gone.  If there are some colors that you feel you can't live without, get them NOW!  We don't know what will retire.  I feel sure retiring colors will go fast!  Don't forget cardstock, ink pads, Blends, Stampin' Write Markers, embellishments, ribbon, and your favorite designer series papers with the colors you love!

As an aside, SU demonstrators can see the new annual catalog online only beginning March 29th!

Something Fancy Dies Catalog CASE

Our catalogs are such a fantastic place to find inspiration.  Sometimes I need that.  I think all of us do.  When I am stumped on ideas, I usually go to our catalogs.  If you look at the front cover of the January-April Mini you'll see a card that looks a lot like my card for today.  Of course I've added my own spin to it.

Dainty Delight dies Something Fancy Dies Blending Brushes Pretty Flowers EF Metallic Mesh Ribbon Charming Sentiments Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Those hexagons caught my eye immediately.  It's taken some time to try my hand at it.  I started with a base of Thick Basic White.  Mine measures 4 1/4 x 8 1/2 and scored at 5 1/2.  I had a piece already cut on my desk.  You could use 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and score and 4 1/4.

I  cut 8 of the hexagons from Basic White and then placed them all inside the Pretty Flowers embossing folder.  Place these on the card with dimensionals.  I found it easier to start at the bottom, and I did run a few off the paper on purpose.  Just trim the extra to fit the base.  It's easier to trim from the back.

Dainty Delight dies Something Fancy Dies Blending Brushes Pretty Flowers EF Metallic Mesh Ribbon Charming Sentiments Basic Rhinestones Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

I used the Dainty Flowers dies for my flowers.  Cut 4 of the flowers and 4 of the stems.  Use Fresh Freesia and Parakeet Party.  To create a little interest and dimension, use Blending Brushes to add more color from the ink pads.  Glue these to the card over the hexagons.  Glue the taller ones first because the lower one overlaps them.

Stamp the saying from Charming Sentiments down in the corner in Fresh Freesia ink.

The bow uses the Metallic Mesh Ribbon.  So, I felt that the Basic Rhinestones would be perfect embellishements for this card.  I don't know why I added so many.  I just couldn't stop!

The saying on the inside is also from Charming Sentiments.  Add that last flower and you are done.

I kept thinking about how this card would look in Fresh Freesia.  So I made one.

What do you think?  Please let me know which one you like best.  I added a little interest in the background by stamping with the Dainty Delight stamp set in Fresh Freesia.  I did not add as many rhinestones!!!

Enjoy the Rhythm Masculine Birthday Card

The Enjoy the Rhythm stamp set is on page 72 of the January-April Mini Catalog.  It caught my eye because my son-in-law has a set of drums that looks like the drums in this set.  I've made Robby a birthday card.  I like it a lot.  His birthday isn't until April, but no worries.   He won't look at my blog.

Enjoy the Rhythm Card Wildlife Wonder He's the Man DSP Stylish Shapes dies Linen Thread Baker's Twine Essentials Pack Tutorial Medley Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

The Tutorial Medley group theme for March is masculine.  That's why I went ahead and made the card.  It's a book binding fold-one of my favorites!  I'm also using the He's the Man Designer Series Paper.

Since I have a tutorial written for this card for the Tutorial Medley, I won't go over all of that again.  If you would like to download Download Enjoy the Rhythm Masculine.

For the inside of the card start with a Real Red layer of 4 1/8 x 4 1/8.  Cut another piece of the designer paper 4 x 4.  Stamp the drum set near the lower right.  Stamp the saying from the Wildlife Wonder stamp set.  I messed up my saying.  I stamped it again on Sahara Sand cardstock in Real Red.  Cut it out with the Stylish Shapes dies.

Would you like a set of around 15 tutorials with a masculine theme for free?  These are created by other Stampin' Up! demonstrators from the US and Canada.  I'm sending these out to my customers.  There's a link to my online store below.  My Luv 2 Create team members will also get a set of the tutorials.  It's my little thank you!

It's Hazel's Second Birthday! And Taco Fiesta!

Can you believe that Hazel is two???  Where did the time go!  I'm using a video that I found that makes the cutest taco.  I wish I could take credit, but no.  This taco was designed by Di Barnes.  You can find her video here.  I'm making a Book Binding Fold today.  I just love those.  I've made several lately.

Taco 3D Enjoy the Journey DSP Delicate Desert DSP Stylish Shapes dies Book Binding Fold Birthday Card Taco Fiesta A Grand Child Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

The taco on this card is 3D.  It is attached with a wobble spring.  You can find these here.  The taco is so cute wiggling on the card!  Here are the things I used, but it's all on the video mentioned already!

Needed to make the taco for this card are:

Decorative Circle Punch using Pale Papaya cardstock for shell

Hedgehog Builder Punch using Granny Apple Green and Parakeet Party for lettuce

Whale Punch using the drops in Basic White for the sour cream

Tailor Made Tags dies using Basic Black  tag holes for the olives

All That dies using Polished Pink for tomato pieces (Yes that kind of a funny color, but it's got to match!

For the book fold:

Pale Papaya cardstock 4 1/4 x 11.  Score at 5 1/2 and 6 3/4.  Fold in half.  Fold back the next fold.  Glue down the area it makes.

For the spine area, you'll need Polished Pink 1 1/8 x 4 1/8 and paper 1 x 4 from the Delicate Desert Designer Series Paper.  Stamp designer paper first with the candy stamp from the Taco Fiesta stamp set.  Add the layers.

For the large area, the paper is cut to 4 1/8 x 4 1/8 in Polished Pink cardstock.  Stamp the 4 x 4 layer of designer paper in the same way as the thin piece.  Add these layers to the card front.

Cut a piece of the Enjoy the Journey Designer Series Paper with the largest square from Stylish Shapes dies.  Add with dimensionals.  Here's where you'll actually add the taco with the wobble.  Just pull the backing and stick on!

The saying is from the A Grand Kid stamp set.  Stamp in Polished Pink on Basic White and fussy cut it out.  Glue.

For the inside cut a 4 x 4 piece of Basic White.  Stamp the horse from Taco Fiesta in memento black on a piece of white scrap.  Color with the Polished Pink Combo Blends and the Pale Papaya Combo Blends.  Draw a straight line down part of the white layer with a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker. Fussy cut and add the horse with dimensionals.

The saying is from A Grand Kid.

Don't forget to decorate the envelope.

While at Walgreens I found a Taco Pez Dispenser.  I had to have it!  To make a bag I needed a whole 12 x 12 paper.  I used a matching paper from the Enjoy the Journey Designer Series Paper.  Score at 6 and fold in half.  Add a piece of Tear & Tape down the side.  Fold over and stick down the side.  Add a piece of the Tear & Tape at the bottom.

Stamp, color, and cut out another horse.  Add a short length of black twine from the Baker's Twine Essentials Pack by adding a piece of tape just on the inside of the bag.  Add a small piece of tape at the bottom.  Add the horse with dimensionals hiding the end of the twine.

Add some M&M's with glue dots to look like candy coming from the horse pinata.

Tie some of the Polished Pink Open Weave Ribbon for handles.  I punched small holes.  I was afraid that the ribbon might pull through with a lot of handling.  I did put some tape over the ends on the inside of the bag.

Slip in the extra candy so there will be some to eat.
