Cards Baby

One Stamp at a Time Blog Hop for August - New Beginnings

Hello to you!  This is the time of year for new beginnings however strange they may be here in 2020.  I'm so happy you have joined the One Stamp at a Time Blog Hop.  You might have come from Candy's blog.  She is so very talented!

Thanks so joining me for a while.  There are all kinds of new beginnings.  I've chosen to think about a new baby.  I haven't made a baby card in a long time.

OSAT August New Beginnings by Jo Anne Hewins

My card base is Thick Whisper White that is cut to 4 1/4 x 11, scored and folded at 5 1/2.

Cut a piece of the speckled Crumb Cake paper from the Guilded Autumn Specialty Paper.  It's not just for fall.  It measures the size of the card front, 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  Use the Well Said stamp set to stamp the saying in Early Espresso.  Some are the espresso ink, some stamped off first, and some stamped the third time or even 4th.  I wanted all of those tones.  To do this set up the saying on the Stamparatus in the middle of the clear plate.  Make sure it's straight.  Begin stamping.  I moved the paper all over the surface of the Stamparatus making sure that the paper was straight each time.  I did need to use the hinges to move the paper lower, too.  I love how this turned out.

Use the Wreath Builder dies to make the wreath.  A leaf wreath was cut out in Shaded Spruce and the more detailed wreath was cut out using Vellum card stock and in Just Jade.  Add glue sparingly around the circle part of the die.  I glued the vellum first, followed by the Shaded Spruce leaf, and then the Just Jade detailed.  By  just gluing around the circle part, you can fluff up parts of the wreaths.  Add to the center of the card.

To make the bow, pull apart the strands of Linen Thread.  I tied my bow using a bow maker.  Leaves the ties a little long.  Add the bow with a glue dot.

The new Foam Adhesive Sheets are the star of the next part of the card.  Adhere some of the Petal Pink, a little speckled, paper from the Peony Garden Designer SeriesPaper to the Foam Adhesive Sheet.  Cut out the WELCOME using the Well Written dies and the BABY using the Playful Alphabet dies.  Add the WELCOME over the ties of the bow.  Add BABY at the bottom of the wreath.

The stars are made using the Stitched Stars dies.  This was a little time intensive.  We once had a punch with the little stars.  I guess it has retired.  Add the stars all over the wreath and the front of the card.

OSAT August New Beginnings Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

The inside of the card is simple.  The saying reflects the words on the front.  Add a few more stars.

For the 3D portion of the One Stamp of a Time hop, I made a gift card holder.

OSAT August New Beginnings Gift Card Holder by Jo Anne Hewins

The gift card holder is made using the Ornate Layers dies.  Cut the rectangle die from the Peony Garden Designer Series Paper and fold in half.  Add the gift card to the holder with a glue dot.

Decorate the holder in much the same way as the card.  Use 1/2 of each wreath cut using the same colors as the card.  Cut out the BABY again using the paper from the Guilded Autumn Specialty paper and the Foam Adhesive Sheets.  Cut more stars using this paper also.

The saying is stamped in Early Espresso on white scraps and cut apart.  Add to the holder with glue dots.

Tie the holder shut with Linen Thread.  I did pull apart the strands again and used the holes already there from the die cut.  It was a little tricky to get the thread pulled through there.  Tie in a bow.

Here are the pair together.

A baby certainly means a new beginning in so many ways.  It's a miracle, you know.

Your going to want to continue on this hop all the way through.  I know you'll find lots of inspiration!

One Stamp at a Time Blog Hop for April It's a Milestone

Welcome to the One Stamp at a Time Blog Hop for April.  We are celebrating those milestones in our lives.

Image may contain: text

A big milestone in a life is the birth of a baby.  I made a card for a baby using the Wildly Happy stamp set.

OSAT Baby Milestone Wildly Happy Card by Jo Anne Hewins

The card base is Thick Whisper White measuring 4 1/4 x 11, scored and folded at 5 1/2.  Cut a piece of the script Purple Posy paper from the 2019-2021 In Color Designer Series Paper to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  Glue this to the card front.  It should cover the whole front.

Use the thin stitched rectangle from the Ornate Layers dies to cut three panels from the checked Purple Posy from the same pack of 6 x 6 paper.  Using the same dies, cut another section on to the end of the paper.  This will be about 1/3 the length of the die.  Do this 3 times.  Add the full rectangles to the card front with dimensionals from the top.  Add the one in the middle first using your Grid Paper to get it centered just right.  Now add the two on the sides making sure they are even.  Now add the partial rectangles from the bottom.  Use dimensionals.  Use a glue dot where the rectangles overlap each other.  You will end up with 3 complete columns from top to bottom on the card front.

Take a length of the Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding and color it with a Dark Purple Posy Blend.  Run this around the card hiding the seams of the checked paper.  Glue dot the ends behind where the pandas will go.

OSAT Baby Milestone with Wildly Happy Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

Stamp the pandas from the Wildly Happy stamp set in Smoky Slate ink on Whisper White.  Color in using the Light and Dark Smoky Slate Blends.  Cut out using the largest oval from the Stitched Shapes dies.  Glue to the card.

Color more of the seam binding and tie a bow.  Add the bow with a glue dot.

Stamp the saying from Wildly Happy in Smoky Slate.  I stamped it two times.  Cut out the words and glue to the card.

Stamp the flowers from the Under My Umbrella stamp set in Smoky Slate three times.  Color using the Light and Dark Purple Posy Blends and the Light and Dark Mint Macaron Blends.  Cut these out and glue to the card front.

OSAT Baby Milestone Wildly Happy Gift Card Holder by Jo Anne Hewins

For my 3D item, I chose to make a gift card holder.  A gift card is perfect for baby.  Mom always has a list of baby needs.  Use the Purple Posy paper from the 2019-2021 In Color Designer Series Paper.  The holder is from the check paper and measures 4 1/4 x 6.  Score on the 4 1/2 side at 1/2.  On the 6 inch side score at 1 5/8 from each end.

OSAT Baby Milestone Score and Tape by Jo Anne Hewins

Cut away the end pieces on the bottom and add Tear & Tape as shown above.  Close the sides and then the bottom.

Add a piece of the script paper that is 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 to the front.

Color about 18" of the Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding and color with the Dark Purple Posy Blend.  Tie around the card in a knot.  The tag is stamped from the So Sentimental stamp set.  Color the heart with Dark Purple Posy.  Use the Mini Curvy Keepsake dies to cut the tag.  Add the tag to the ribbon and tie in a bow.  Make two more of the flower clusters from Under My Umbrella and add to the bottom of the gift card holder.

A Little Elephant Baby Card

I think I might be going through a phase.  Here's another baby card using the Little Elephant stamp set and Elephant Builder punch.  I had another baby card earlier this week using the Sweet Baby bundle.  To see that go here.  Today's card is below.

Little Elephant bundle by Jo Anne Hewins

This card could also be made in blues for a boy.  I chose to use the pinks.

Start with a card base of Petal Pink 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  Add a layer of Soft Sea Foam measuring 3 3/4 x 5.

The next layer is in Gray Granite.  It comes from the Twinkle, Twinkle Designer Series Paper.  Cut this at 3 5/8 x 4 7/8.  Stamp hearts randomly on this layer.  The stamp is from the Little Elephant stamp set.  Run a length of the Petal Pink Silver Baker's Twine across the card.  I just tape it down on the back of the card.  Make a bow to add later.

Stamp the ground piece in Soft Sea Foam.  Fussy cut this and add with dimensionals.

Stamp the elephant in Petal Pink and punch out with the Elephant Builder punch.  Stamp again in Gray Granite.  Punch out the ear and glue down on the pink elephant.  There's a tiny circle that also stamps out.  Glue that down for the eye.  Add the elephant with glue dots.

I colored the balloon stamp with my Gray Granite, Petal Pink, and Soft Sea Foam Stampin' Write Markers.  I did use the Stamparatus so I could stamp several times.  These a light colors.  Fussy cut the balloons and add with dimensionals.

Using the Stitched Shapes Framelits, cut a square from the Twinkle, Twinkle Petal Pink paper.  Stamp the saying on a scrap of Whisper White and punch out with the 1" circle punch.  Add the square with dimensionals.

Add the bow with glue dots.

Little Elephant bundle inside of card by Jo Anne Hewins

The saying inside the card is from the Sweet Baby stamp set.  Stamp the elephant directly on the card stock.  Stamp it again on scrap paper in Gray Granite, punch out the ear, and add it to the pink elephant.  Stamp the hearts.

Little Elephant stamp set and Elephant Builder punch bundle by Jo Anne Hewins

There's just a little fussy cutting with this card, but it's easy cutting.  I  did post another card using the elephant.  You can find it here.

Oh, Sweet Baby!

Being a brand new grandmother, Grammie, I've been drawn to the Kids & Babies section of the annual catalog.  Today I'm using the Sweet Baby bundle.  The stamp set is Sweet Baby and it is paired with the Bouncing Baby Framelits Dies.  It's really cute.  My card is for a new baby girl because in my mind, this is my little Sagan.  Of course you can also make a boy card that could be for my great nephew Clark.  Here's the girl card.

Sweet Baby bundle card in Flirty Flamingo by Jo Anne Hewins

This card is a CASE, Copy and Share Everything, from the catalog, page 89.  The catalog is a great source of ideas.

The card base is Thick Whisper White 4 1/4 x 11.  Score at 5 1/2 and fold.  I chose Flirty Flamingo paper from the Brights 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper and Smoky Slate from the Neutrals 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper.  Here are the sizes:

Flirty Flamingo larger dots:  2 1/2 x 5 1/2, right side of card

Flirty Flamingo small dots:  1 1/2 x 5 1/2, left side of card

Flirty Flamingo stripes:  1 x 5 1/2, down the center of the other two

Smoky Slate larger dots:  1 1/4 x 4

Go ahead and adhere these layers of patterned paper to the card base.

Using the Stitched Shapes Framelits cut the largest circle from Whisper White.  Stamp the chain stamp at the top center of the circle.  Stamp the Cute and Cuddly saying over the circle.  Cut a scallop Smoky Slate circle using the Layering Circles Framelits.

Stamp the baby with Memento Black.  I colored her using the Light and Dark Smoky Slate, the Light and Dark Flirty Flamingo, Light Petal Pink, Ivory, and Light Crumb Cake Blends.  Cut out with the Bouncing Baby Framelits.  Add with dimensionals.

Stamp the saying in Smoky Slate on white and punch out with the Classic Label Punch.

Sweet Baby bundle Flirty Flamingo card inside by Jo Anne Hewins

The same saying as the front is on the inside of the card.  Add baby bottles and diaper pins, all in Smoky Slate.

I love everything about this card.  I did post another card using this set here.  You'll have to scroll down a little to see the baby wrapped in a blanket.

Two Very Special Women in My Life and a Card: NC Demo Blog Hop

I was super excited to see that the theme of our blog hop this month could be special women in our lives!  The timing couldn't be better!  You see my daughter Jessie just gave birth to a super brand new female in my life, my granddaughter Sagan,  just this past Wednesday!  It's my first grandchild!  Mother and baby are doing great!

Join us blog

Welcome to the April Blog Hop.  You might have just come from  Toni's  blog.  I'm sure you saw a great project!  I'm going to talk about my card.  I promise to have more pictures at the end of this post of baby and mom.  You must look at them, too, please!  Here is my card.

Animal Outing Baby and Mom card by Jo Anne Hewins

We got this Animal Outing stamp set at the Atlanta OnStage!  I loved it at once.  I used gray, pink, and white for my card because those are the colors in the nursery.  I looked at images of kangaroos and I think that some might be gray.  I always thought of them as brown.  Anyway, this one is gray.

The card base is Smoky Slate 4 1/4 x 11 and folded at 5 1/2.  The patterned paper is from the Whole Lot of Lovely Designer Series Paper.  It's cut at 4 x 5 1/4.

The kangaroo is stamped in Memento Black ink on Whisper White.  I used the Light and Dark Smoky Slate, the Dark Pink Pirouette, and the Color Lifter Blends to color the kangaroo and baby.  Use the Layering Ovals Framelits to cut out the kangaroo and a coordinating Powder Pink scalloped oval.  Before attaching the ovals with dimensionals, run a length of the Smoky Slate Gingham Ribbon around the card.  Add a bow with glue dots just to the side.

Animal Outing baby mommy card by Jo Anne Hewins for Luv 2 Create

The words on this card were stamped using the new Make a Difference stamp set.  Isn't it a lovely cursive!  It's so easy to link the letters.  It's recommended to stamp the letters one at a time and that works well.

For the inside of the card, I added the kangaroo again with sentiments from the Animal Outing stamp set.

Thanks for sharing with me one of the most special times of my life.

Animal Outing and Make a Difference by Jo Anne Hewins

And now, as promised are a few pictures of this special little girl and her family.  She is one of the most beautiful babies ever.   You know that I'm not a bit prejudiced!

Sagan Hewins Raeford

Sagan Hewins Raeford was born on Wednesday, April 25th at 6:27 pm.  She weighed 7 pounds and is 19 1/2 inches long.

Baby 5

Here are my girls, Jessie and Sagan.  Even writing this my heart just swells and there are tears of joy.  Sagan is truly a miracle.  You might be interested in a little background story posted here.

Baby 2

Here is the new little family.  I can't wait to watch how their lives together develop.  There will be joys, and maybe days that might not be that great.  But as a family they will form those lives and work together.  I'm expecting greatness.

Baby 1
Does Grammie look a little proud?

Baby 10

And here we are together.  Three generations of girl power.  Yes, these are 2 very important people in my life!
