A Little Elephant Baby Card

I think I might be going through a phase.  Here's another baby card using the Little Elephant stamp set and Elephant Builder punch.  I had another baby card earlier this week using the Sweet Baby bundle.  To see that go here.  Today's card is below.

Little Elephant bundle by Jo Anne Hewins

This card could also be made in blues for a boy.  I chose to use the pinks.

Start with a card base of Petal Pink 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  Add a layer of Soft Sea Foam measuring 3 3/4 x 5.

The next layer is in Gray Granite.  It comes from the Twinkle, Twinkle Designer Series Paper.  Cut this at 3 5/8 x 4 7/8.  Stamp hearts randomly on this layer.  The stamp is from the Little Elephant stamp set.  Run a length of the Petal Pink Silver Baker's Twine across the card.  I just tape it down on the back of the card.  Make a bow to add later.

Stamp the ground piece in Soft Sea Foam.  Fussy cut this and add with dimensionals.

Stamp the elephant in Petal Pink and punch out with the Elephant Builder punch.  Stamp again in Gray Granite.  Punch out the ear and glue down on the pink elephant.  There's a tiny circle that also stamps out.  Glue that down for the eye.  Add the elephant with glue dots.

I colored the balloon stamp with my Gray Granite, Petal Pink, and Soft Sea Foam Stampin' Write Markers.  I did use the Stamparatus so I could stamp several times.  These a light colors.  Fussy cut the balloons and add with dimensionals.

Using the Stitched Shapes Framelits, cut a square from the Twinkle, Twinkle Petal Pink paper.  Stamp the saying on a scrap of Whisper White and punch out with the 1" circle punch.  Add the square with dimensionals.

Add the bow with glue dots.

The saying inside the card is from the Sweet Baby stamp set.  Stamp the elephant directly on the card stock.  Stamp it again on scrap paper in Gray Granite, punch out the ear, and add it to the pink elephant.  Stamp the hearts.

There's just a little fussy cutting with this card, but it's easy cutting.  I  did post another card using the elephant.  You can find it here.

Oh, Sweet Baby!

Being a brand new grandmother, Grammie, I've been drawn to the Kids & Babies section of the annual catalog.  Today I'm using the Sweet Baby bundle.  The stamp set is Sweet Baby and it is paired with the Bouncing Baby Framelits Dies.  It's really cute.  My card is for a new baby girl because in my mind, this is my little Sagan.  Of course you can also make a boy card that could be for my great nephew Clark.  Here's the girl card.

Sweet Baby bundle card in Flirty Flamingo by Jo Anne Hewins

This card is a CASE, Copy and Share Everything, from the catalog, page 89.  The catalog is a great source of ideas.

The card base is Thick Whisper White 4 1/4 x 11.  Score at 5 1/2 and fold.  I chose Flirty Flamingo paper from the Brights 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper and Smoky Slate from the Neutrals 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper.  Here are the sizes:

Flirty Flamingo larger dots:  2 1/2 x 5 1/2, right side of card

Flirty Flamingo small dots:  1 1/2 x 5 1/2, left side of card

Flirty Flamingo stripes:  1 x 5 1/2, down the center of the other two

Smoky Slate larger dots:  1 1/4 x 4

Go ahead and adhere these layers of patterned paper to the card base.

Using the Stitched Shapes Framelits cut the largest circle from Whisper White.  Stamp the chain stamp at the top center of the circle.  Stamp the Cute and Cuddly saying over the circle.  Cut a scallop Smoky Slate circle using the Layering Circles Framelits.

Stamp the baby with Memento Black.  I colored her using the Light and Dark Smoky Slate, the Light and Dark Flirty Flamingo, Light Petal Pink, Ivory, and Light Crumb Cake Blends.  Cut out with the Bouncing Baby Framelits.  Add with dimensionals.

Stamp the saying in Smoky Slate on white and punch out with the Classic Label Punch.

The same saying as the front is on the inside of the card.  Add baby bottles and diaper pins, all in Smoky Slate.

I love everything about this card.  I did post another card using this set here.  You'll have to scroll down a little to see the baby wrapped in a blanket.

Two Very Special Women in My Life and a Card: NC Demo Blog Hop

I was super excited to see that the theme of our blog hop this month could be special women in our lives!  The timing couldn't be better!  You see my daughter Jessie just gave birth to a super brand new female in my life, my granddaughter Sagan,  just this past Wednesday!  It's my first grandchild!  Mother and baby are doing great!

Join us blog

Welcome to the April Blog Hop.  You might have just come from  Toni's  blog.  I'm sure you saw a great project!  I'm going to talk about my card.  I promise to have more pictures at the end of this post of baby and mom.  You must look at them, too, please!  Here is my card.

Animal Outing Baby and Mom card by Jo Anne Hewins

We got this Animal Outing stamp set at the Atlanta OnStage!  I loved it at once.  I used gray, pink, and white for my card because those are the colors in the nursery.  I looked at images of kangaroos and I think that some might be gray.  I always thought of them as brown.  Anyway, this one is gray.

The card base is Smoky Slate 4 1/4 x 11 and folded at 5 1/2.  The patterned paper is from the Whole Lot of Lovely Designer Series Paper.  It's cut at 4 x 5 1/4.

The kangaroo is stamped in Memento Black ink on Whisper White.  I used the Light and Dark Smoky Slate, the Dark Pink Pirouette, and the Color Lifter Blends to color the kangaroo and baby.  Use the Layering Ovals Framelits to cut out the kangaroo and a coordinating Powder Pink scalloped oval.  Before attaching the ovals with dimensionals, run a length of the Smoky Slate Gingham Ribbon around the card.  Add a bow with glue dots just to the side.

The words on this card were stamped using the new Make a Difference stamp set.  Isn't it a lovely cursive!  It's so easy to link the letters.  It's recommended to stamp the letters one at a time and that works well.

For the inside of the card, I added the kangaroo again with sentiments from the Animal Outing stamp set.

Thanks for sharing with me one of the most special times of my life.

And now, as promised are a few pictures of this special little girl and her family.  She is one of the most beautiful babies ever.   You know that I'm not a bit prejudiced!

Sagan Hewins Raeford

Sagan Hewins Raeford was born on Wednesday, April 25th at 6:27 pm.  She weighed 7 pounds and is 19 1/2 inches long.

Baby 5

Here are my girls, Jessie and Sagan.  Even writing this my heart just swells and there are tears of joy.  Sagan is truly a miracle.  You might be interested in a little background story posted here.

Baby 2

Here is the new little family.  I can't wait to watch how their lives together develop.  There will be joys, and maybe days that might not be that great.  But as a family they will form those lives and work together.  I'm expecting greatness.

Baby 1
Does Grammie look a little proud?

Baby 10

Sweet Little Something for a Sweet Little Baby

You might know that I'm expecting my first grandchild soon.  Little Sagan Hewins Raeford is due on April 27th.  The showers have begun!  We had one this past Sunday and I am getting so excited!  I've waited a long time for this!

Of course my daughter Jessie wants handmade Thank You notes, and of course I am more than willing to make them.  We chose to use that cute little bunny from Stampin' Up!'s Sweet Little Bunny stamp set.

Sweet Little Something thank you

Here is our card.  We are using the Whisper White Note Cards & Envelopes.  I've said it before.  These are one of the best bargains in the catalog.  You get 20 cards and envelopes for $6 in the USA.  Grays seemed like the logical choice since Sagan's nursery is painted a light gray.

For me, the Stamperatus is a must for this bunny.  It's a three stamp process, but they must be matched exactly.  I would use scrap paper for stamping until you get everything placed correctly.  But after you get it placed, it's a snap to stamp them quickly.  It does not matter which order you stamp them, but I do think it's easier to start with the darkest when trying to place them on the Stamperatus.  I used Smoky Slate for the largest plain stamp, Basic Gray for the next one with some detail, and Memento Black for the most detailed and smallest stamp.  I did stamp the black two times, but maybe that was my pad.

The words for the front of the card are from the All Things Thanks stamp set. Stamp in Basic Gray.  I also set this up on the Stamperatus.  I used all four plates for this card!

The bow is from the Bouquet Bunch Framelits.  I used Powder Pink.  For most of the cards I trimed the ends of the bow a little and added it to her hair.  The little heart is punched with the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch.

Sweet Little Something thank yous by Jo Anne Hewins

I made about 50 of these.  I think they are so cute.

After going to the time to set up the bunny, I just couldn't stop.  Here's the card I made for her gift.

Sweet Little Something gift card by Jo Anne Hewins

Start with a card base of Thick Whisper White 5 1/2 z 8 1/2 and scored and folded at 4 1/4.

I used the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack.  Cut a piece of the Powder Pink 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  Cover the front of the card.

Using the Stamperatus stamp the New Baby from the Milestone Moments stamp set in Basic Gray.  This is called Hinge Stamping.

The bunny was stamped on Whisper White card stock and cut out with snips.  Adhere with dimensionals.  Add a Powder Pink bow from the Bouquet Bunch Framelits.

Using the Balloon Bouquet Punch, punch the largest balloon.  Stamp Hello Baby with the Moon Baby stamp set in Basic Gray.  Attach with dimensionals.  The twine I used is retired Basic Gray.

My daughter Jessie and son in law Robby are expecting their first baby at the end of April.  God is good.  You see, it's been a long hard road for them.  They have wanted this little blessing for a long time.  Things just didn't work out.  I don't think we can understand that deep aching and wanting and disappointment unless we've gone through it ourselves.  What wonderful parents they will make.  And I'm just going to tell you that John and I will be wonderful grandparents.  It's our first, too!  So when I found out that the test was a yes, I sat down and had a long joyful cry and I made her this card.  Stamping is therapeutic, you know.

Jessie and Robby

So you are thinking, what?  But you see our baby is coming with a little help of science and what a miracle it is!  So many lives will be blessed by this little one.  And I have something that not many people have.  I have a picture of my grandchild as an egg ready to be implanted in its mom.

Baby egg close up

Of course we've been praying for this baby and its mom and dad.  So far things are going well.  We've had great reports from the doctor.  I ask for your prayers, too.  We are so blessed.

Robby and Jessie baby

I made this card in gender neutral color.  I chose colors I thought Jessie would like.  The petri dish is made is made from the coffee cup lid from Coffee Cafe.  The egg is the flower center from Daisy Delight.  The Labeler Alphabet was used for the lettering.

In the background I put lots of sentiments from various current stamp sets.  Some of the sets are Guy Greetings, Lovely Friends, Milestone Moments, and Labels to Love.

Colors used were Dapper Denim, Lemon Lime Twist, Pool Party, Smoky Slate, Fresh Fig, and Blushing Bride.

So, thanks so much for sharing in my joy today.  I'll try to keep you updated from time to time.
