August Paper Pumpkin Blissful Blooms

Do you subscribe to Paper Pumpkin?  I love getting my Paper Pumpkin in the mail each month.  I love the surprise.  I do everything possible not to look at all the talk and postings until I have mine in hand!  This month's Paper Pumpkin is just so pretty.  I have to admit that I love the boxes with cards the best.  The August Paper Pumpkin has all the makings for 10 cards, a fantastic stamp set, silver foil trimmed envelopes, a Blackberry Bliss stampin' spot, and fun!  The kit also has beautiful vellum and a pretty green vellum leaves to use!  Wow!

August Paper Pumpkin

I just couldn't wait to get started.  The kit is so easy!

Here are the cards made pretty much according to the kit directions.  You would get 5 of each design!  They are lovely!

These cards are also close to the directions.  I did use a different sentiment on the cards on top.  The Thank You Kindly comes from the Enjoy Life stamp set.  I also used some of the Silver Metallic Thread from page 200 of the annual catalog on some of these.  It will look fantastic with the silver edged envelopes.  I also added some the Faceted Dots from page 197.

Of course, sometimes you want to try a little something outside of the box.

Here are two projects.  For the card I took an oval from the Layering Ovals Framelits and cut out a section of the front of the card.  I did have to line the inside of the card with a 4 x 5 1/4 piece of Whisper White.  I cut another oval from some Fun Foam.  Glue the paper to the foam and then glue it all back inside the card.  Just add some Silver Metallic Thread, a saying, and some Faceted Dots!  Don't forget the vellum leaves!

I made a video on how to make this box for an earlier post.  You can see it here.  To make this box cut the card in the white area 1 1/4 below the fold.  The fold becomes the score line for the bottom of the box.  Score in the other direction at 1 1/4, 2 1/2, 3 3/4, and 5.  You will have to cut up on the score lines to the bottom of the box (fold of card).  Take a look at the video, please!  Use the larger tag and fold in half for the box topper.  I stamped the flower with the stamp set in the kit.  I used Flirty Flamingo for the flower.  Put some Pineapple Punch in the center with a dauber, and added the heart leaves with Granny Apple Green.  The center of the flower is Blackberry Bliss.  Punch this out with the 1 1/4 inch circle punch and add a frame using the 1 3/8" scallop punch and Flirty Flamingo card stock.  Back this with some of the Flamingo and Silver Twine and some of the vellum leaves.  It makes a great box!

Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop - Notes of Kindness Card Kit

Welcome to the Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop for July.  This month we are looking at the fabulous kits that Stampin' Up! has to offer.  I'm so glad you have joined us.  I hope you enjoy my projects.  My name is Jo Anne Hewins.

Image may contain: text

My favorite kit is the Notes of Kindness Card Kit.  It's easy to assemble and so nice.  Saying thank you can be so important.  Here is a picture of the cards in the kit as I made them according to directions.

Notes of Kindness Card Kit assembled by Jo Anne Hewins

This kit has supplies to  make 20 cards, 5 each of each card above.  Wow!  It's an all inclusive kit meaning that the stamp set and everything you need is included.  Just add some of your adhesive.  AND, a refill kit is available to purchase without the stamp set, clear block, and ink.

Just to make life a little more interesting, I've made 3 samples using these materials in a different way!

Notes of Kindness Card Kit Alternative Samples by Jo Anne Hewins

Let's talk a little about each one.

Notes of Kindness Alternative Card #1 by Jo Anne Hewins

For this card, start with the card base that is green striped.  Use your Blackberry Bliss ink and the THANKS stamp.  Using the Stamparatus, hinge stamp the thanks down the right side.

Take one of the Blushing Bride stickers and cut it down the middle lengthwise.  Add this along the bottom.  Try to place this so that part of the flower petal covers the seam.

Add the flower using dimensionals.  Add some of the Basic Adhesive Backed Sequins.  Divide a strand of the Blackberry Bliss cord from the Nature's Twine pack and make a bow.  Add this with a rolled up glue dot.

Notes of Kindness Card Kit Alternative #2 by Jo Anne Hewins

For this card, you'll need a Whisper White Note Card & Envelope.  Take one of the envelopes from the card kit and open it carefully at the seams so that you have a flat piece with the stripes showing.  Cut a piece of this 3 1/2 x 5 and adhere to the card front.

Stamp the plus sign stamp in Mossy Green on the front of the card.

Stamp the sentiment from the card kit in Mossy Meadow on one of the square punch outs.  I used the Stamparatus so I could stamp again if needed.  Add this with dimensionals.  Add the pink flower with dimensionals.

Add some of the Basic Adhesive Backed Sequins.

Notes of Kindness Card Kit Alternative #3 by Jo Anne Hewins

This is a full card.  Start with a card base of Thick Whisper White measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, score and fold at 4 1/4.

Using the Tropical Escape 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper, cut the black leaves piece to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 and adhere to the front of the card base.  The black and white stripe paper is cut to 2 x 5 1/2.  The Blushing Bride piece is 1/4 x 5 1/2.  There are 2 of these and they are butted up to the black and white stripe.

Using the Layering Circles, cut a circle from the Blushing Bride flower paper.  Adhere the Thank You sticker to the center of the circle.  Take the leaves punch out and cut it in half.  Place these pieces so that they come out from behind the circle.  Adhere all of this to the card with dimensionals.  Add a bow with a rolled up glue dot.  Use the left over twine from the card above.

Notes of Kindness Card Kit with 3 alternative cards by Jo Anne Hewins

So there you have three quick alternatives.  This is kit just so beautiful.  I love the colors!  I hope you'll consider adding this kit to your Wish List!

I hope you enjoyed my projects today.  Don't forget to take the rest of the blog hop!  I can't wait to see all of the ideas!  Thank you so much.  Please see the list of products below if you need some supplies.  I'd be so happy to help you.  My name is Jo Anne Hewins and I am from the USA.

Create with Connie and Mary Challenge #480 Christmas Pines

Welcome to the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge.  This week we have a sketch.

CCMC480

Once the Holiday Catalog comes along, I often overlook the Christmas offerings in the Annual Catalog.  Today I'll be using the stamp set Christmas Pines and the Pretty Pines Thinlits that coordinate with it from the Annual Catalog.

CCMC #480 Christmas Pines

The card base is Thick Whisper White card stock cut at 4 1/4 x 11.  Score this at 5 1/2 and fold.

Cut the Real Red gingham patterned paper from the Quilted Christmas 6 x 6 stack to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 so that it covers the entire front of the card.  The Quilted Christmas stack is great.  It would not have to be just for Christmas.

Using the Stitched Shapes Framelits, cut the largest circle from Whisper White.

Cut a pine cone from each of the 3 types of pine cones in the thinlits.  The bottom layer is Soft Suede and the top layer is from Early Espresso.  The center pine cone is glued to the white circle.  The two on each side are adhered with dimensionals.  Cut some of the pine boughs from Emerald Envy.  Use Real Red to cut some of the other branches.  I don't know what they would be called.  They do appear to have berries at the end.  Place those around until you are happy with how they look.

Add a bow in the Crinkled Seam Binding in Emerald Envy.  That ribbon is the best!  Look how pretty it ties!

Pines 1

The sentiment is from Christmas Pines stamped in Emerald Envy.

I added some of the Enamel Shapes in Emerald Envy.  I did not realize that they are retired.  I try not to use retired products for my blog.  They just looked so perfect for the project.  I apologize.  We all need to use up some of that retired stuff, though.

Christmas Pines CCMC#480

This card was a lot of fun to make.  I just kept rearranging everything.  I've decided that I like this sketch a lot!

Thank you for taking your time to look at my blog today.  I love to share.  If you don't have a demonstrator, I would love to step into that role for you.  My Product List is below.  Just click on it.

Tree Rings Background Stamp CASE

I've been working on CASEing some of the cards in our annual catalog.  Today I'll be looking at the card pictured on page 164.  It uses the new Tree Rings background stamp.  Here is the picture in the catalog.

Tree rings catalog

This is the card that I made.  We made this card in class this week.

Tree Rings CASE card

The card base is Crumb Cake measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored 4 1/4.  Stamp the Tree Rings background stamp on the front in Early Espresso.

The daisy is stamped in Rich Razzleberry onto Rich Razzleberry.  Make two of them. Punch out with the new Daisy punch.  Stamp the center of the daisy all in razzleberry and punch out with the 1/2 inch circle punch.  Also stamp a razzleberry circle with the 1 inch circle punch.  Cut this circle all around in little slits.  Adhere the parts of the daisy with dimensionals.  Curve the petals using your bone folder.  Use the Daisy Delight bundle.

Stamp 3 leaves on Old Olive and fussy cut them out.

This card has the beautiful copper trim running around the card and a little bow. Now, if you were in my class, you are saying WHAT!  I did not have the ribbon on the class cards.  To be honest, I found that I didn't have enough of the ribbon and it was too late to order more.  It really looked fine without the ribbon.

The words, stamped in Early Espresso on Crumb Cake, are from the Lovely Inside & Out stamp set.  It coordinates with the Lovely Words Thinlits.  That's where we got the word hugs.  It's cut out of the copper foil.  Here's a copper foil hint:  When you cut some thinlits out of foil, you can see the little dots from the back of the thinlit.  If you use the Precision Plate, you will not see those dots.

Tree Rings CASE inside

Here's the inside of the card.  The sentiment is from the stamp set Sorry for Everything.

When you stamp the flowers, stamp off the solid stamp.  The detailed stamp is full force.  The stems are Old Olive.

Tree Rings

I am loving the Tree Rings background stamp.  I think this was a nice CASE.

Fresh Fruit Note Card Set, NC Demo Blog Hop for July

I'm so glad you could join us today.  The NC blog hops are so much fun and you get great ideas.  You may have just come from Tamra's blog. Didn't she have a great project?

BLOG HOP JOIN US

We are sharing our favorite consumables with this hop.  There are so many we can't live without, but  I want to share the Whisper White Note Cards & Envelopes on page 176 of the new catalog.  You get 20 cards and envelopes for $6.  The note cards are the heavier weight card stock, too.  They are cut, scored, and ready to decorate!  Life is good!  Yes, it is!  I'm using the Fresh Fruit stamp set for my set of 4 note cards. These are clean and simple designs with lots of white space.  That adds just one more reason to fall in love! This post is a little picture heavy.  Forgive me.

Fresh Fruit folder front

And here it is opened.

Fresh Fruit in Folder

Let's start with the note card holder.  What project is not enhanced with designer series paper?  I used the In Color 2016-2017 Designer Series Paper stack, the Peekaboo Peach dotted sheet.  I got the basic note card holder from Patty Bennett's video here.  Patty got here idea from Di Barnes.  You can download the instructions from Di Barnes here.  I stamped each piece of fruit on Whisper White and cut it out for the cover of the note card holder.  I'll go over each fruit and the colors used below.  I decided to make the set Thank You cards.  That is stamped in Basic Black Archival ink.  Allow that ink to dry a little so it won't smear.  I added a Solid Black Baker's Twine bow.

Each note card is 3 1/2 x 5.  The card stock rectangle for each measures 2 1/2 x 4.  The Whisper White layer is 2 3/8 x 3 7/8.  The measurements for all 4 are the same.

Fresh Fruit Pear

The card stock rectangle for the pear is Pear Pizzazz.  I used sponge daubers to ink the stamps on all 4 cards.  For this one, I started with Daffodil Delight through the center of the pear.  Then I covered the stamp with Pear Pizzazz and then I added Cucumber Crush along the top side and bottom of the stamp.  For the leaves, I used Pear Pizzazz and then added a little Cucumber Crush on the left of each leaf.  I added a little Soft Suede around the stem.  I'm not sure that showed up very well.  I cut out the pear all in one piece with my snips.  The pear is on dimensionals, another favorite consumable!

Fresh Fruit Peach

The rectangle for the peach card uses Peekaboo Peach card stock.  Again, I used daubers.  I started with Daffodil Delight, added Peekaboo Peach, and some Tangerine Tango on the left side.  The leaves are the same as for the pear.

Fresh Fruit Strawberry

The rectangle for the strawberry card is Watermelon Wonder card stock.  I started with Daffodil Delight through the center, add Watermelon Wonder, and accented with cherry Cobbler on the left side.  The leaves are Pear Pizzazz and Cucumber Crush.

Fresh Fruit Mixed

For the last card, I used a rectangle of Watermelon Wonder.  The fruit was stamped directly on the Whisper White piece.  Stamp the pear first.  Make a mask by stamping the pear on a sticky note and cutting it out.  Place the sticky pear on top of the already stamped pear.  When you stamp the strawberry and the peach they will partially stamp on the sticky note.  Remove the sticky note and it looks like the strawberry and peach are behind the pear.  For this card, I stamped the leaves separately and put them on dimensionals.

Fresh Fruit

Did you notice that each card has its own decorated envelope?  Designer Series Paper is another favorite consumable.  I used the Fruit Stand DSP.  I just traced around the flap of the envelope, cut it out and glued it in place.  Do pay attention, so that your fruit won't be upside down.  Ask me how I know this!  I could have used this paper for the holder.  The truth is that I ran out.  The holder takes a 12 x 12 sheet of paper.  I kind of messed that up cutting out my envelope flaps.  Note to self.

Fresh Fruit collage

I think that does it.  I'm so happy you came by today.  I hope you'll get some of the note cards if you have never tried them.  I'll have a list of supplies at the end of this post.  Please check it out.  Next on the hop is Tracie.  You'll love her projects.
