Unbounded Love Bundle CASE Card from our Catalog
July 13, 2024
I'm back today with a another great card for you! Do you struggle sometimes with the creation of original cards? I do! To help with this, I decided to flip through the annual catalog hoping to find inspiration. This card on page 40 caught my eye.
The background became my inspiration. The shape is cut from the Wildflower Designs dies. Next, I looked through my stash of patterned papers to see what might work.
This is the Unbounded Beauty Designer Series Paper #163372. I decided that the two Summer Splash papers would be perfect. Here is the finished card and I'll tell just how I got there!
The card base is Summer Splash card stock 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored at 4 1/4.
Cut the more solid Summer Splash paper to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. Use Multipurpose Glue to adhere to the front of the card base.
Find the matching die from Wildflower Designs and cut the detailed piece of Summer Splash. This particular paper does seem to have an orientation, but then I'm not sure. Does that make sense? It actually does go all over the place. I started the front placement with my pieces horizontal. I found the center of the front and used that to place the first hexagon. Add from there leaving just a little space around all the sides. Your pieces will extend beyond the edges of the card front. You'll need to turn the card to the back and trim it even with the card stock. You are seeing my first attempt, but I thought perhaps you could learn from that.
If you look at my sample, you'll see that the corners ended up have very small pieces of designer paper. It's for this reason that I suggest you add the pieces from a vertical stand point. Look at the sample again from the catalog. I think you'll be happier. When I make the card again, that's what I'll do.
Shall we get to the decorations? First run a piece of Summer Splash Bordered Ribbon around the card. I started and ended the ribbon under where the saying label will be. I usually just use regular scotch tape for that.
Stamp the saying from Unbounded Love in Petunia Pop on Basic White. Cut out with the die Unbounded Love.
Cut the tiny flower sprigs. You get a tall and a short sprig. The neat thing is that you have two sets of these dies, BUT they cut so that the flowers bend to the opposite direction! Cut two sets from Petunia Pop and two from Summer Splash. Add these to the back of the saying. There will be extras. To add, put adhesive to the back of the saying. Place the sprigs where you like. Add mini dimensionals.
Add the saying. I know we don't usually add directly to ribbon. Let me explain, to save ribbon I cut it short. Who will know that there is no ribbon right under there? Tie a bow with the same ribbon and add to the card with a glue dot.
Here's the inside of the card. I decorated along the bottom with left over pieces and add a few sprigs in Petunia Pop. The saying is from Unbounded Love.
OK, so I'll admit that this post is a little weird. The card is beautiful if I do say so myself. I'm just trying to make it easier for you to make. So just hold on. My next post will be this card with the vertical orientation of the cut outs.
Thanks to you. There's more on this to come!
