NC Demo Blog Hop for May 2024 Coloring In Colors
May 26, 2024
Welcome to the NC Blog Hop for May! I'm so glad you are here. You've seen our new In Colors and they are fantastic! So now we are coloring those In Colors using all kinds of coloring techniques. I'm so excited to see the ideas our NC demonstrators will share with you! You may have just come from Laurie Meier's blog. Her projects are always so great! If you are starting here, please visit everyone on the hop. You'll be so glad you did!
Are you ready to color INSIDE the lines with our In Colors? I'll be using Wink of Stella for my coloring.
This sparkly card starts with a base of Thick Basic White 4 1/4 x 11, score and fold at 5 1/2. Use a Bone Folder to make a crisp fold. Take a piece of Basic White 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 and emboss with the Eyelet 3D Embossing Folder. This layer will be glued to the front of our card. If there is any kind of overlap simply trim to make everything even.
Cut out a circle from Basic White using the Spotlight on Nature dies. My circle has a diameter of approximately 3 1/4.
This picture really shows off the butterfly, but this entire card is sparkly!!!
Let's color! Stamp on Basic White using Memento Black ink. We'll be using the new Spotlight on Nature bundle. You'll need to stamp 2 sets of the large leaves stamp, one butterfly, 1 of the largest flower, 2 of the middle size flower and 2 of the smallest flower. For the flowers, just ink up the areas needed. We are going to cut them out after we color.
Take a small clear block and stamp a little corner of ink there. We do not want to use the inside of the ink pad lid for this activity. If you do, be sure to wipe out any ink left there. The sparkle will transfer to your pad.
If your Wink of Stella pen is new you'll need to remove the black circle. Unscrew the pen, remove the circle and screw it back together. Squeeze the barrel to get the ink to flow down. Now take the Wink of Stella pen and get the brush colored at the tip and starting painting inside the lines. Get more ink as needed. I started with the Shy Shamrock, but it really does not matter. I have a little variation in my color, but I wanted it that way. Plants are like that. If you need more ink add it at a different corner of the clear block so you don't contaminate the pad. Clean the brush tip by painting with it on scratch paper until clear before changing colors. Clean the ink off of the block. Then change colors.
For the butterfly, I used Peach Pie and Calypso Coral. You won't need very much color, just a little on the corner. Color all of one color and then go to the next.
For the flowers I used just the clear Wink of Stella at the top. Then I changed the color using Petunia Pop. I tried to let the clear and Petunia run together.
I hope you like to fussy cut. Our Paper Snips make it so easy. I so enjoy it.
Add the two leaf stems first. Use mini dimensionals. They did overlap a little near the bottom. The flowers were added with mini dimensionals or glue dots. Tuck them among the leaves.
Add the butterfly with dimensionals.
The saying is from Spotlight on Nature and is stamped in Memento Black. Fussy cut around the saying as well. Doing all of this cutting is time consuming, but it's so worth it!
Before adding the Petunia Pop Bordered Ribbon, I clipped the bottom of the stems a bit. I didn't want them to stick out. The ribbon is fantastic. I thought it would be heavy but it isn't. It ties beautifully.
Finish the card with 2024-2026 In Color Resin Dots.
Let me try another picture.
That might show the sparkle a little better. It's so pretty in real life, believe me! Time to move on, but again, I encourage you to take the entire hop! Please! Kelly Taranto is next. Great project!!!
