NC Blog Hop for December Bling Y'all
December 31, 2023
I hope your Christmas was wonderful and I welcome you to the NC Demo Blog Hop for December on this last day of 2023. It's only a few days until the January-April 2023 Mini Catalog goes live. January 4th please get here! It's hard to wait. Our theme this month is Bling! That's great with this being New Year's Eve, but bling is not my thing! I felt my best thing to do was to use the Most Adored Designer Series Paper from the upcoming Sale-a-Bration promotion. Sale-a-Bration is a great time to earn free craft items just by purchasing products you want anyway! This promotion goes from January 4th to February 29th.
The Most Adored Specialty Designer Series Paper has one side with beautiful gold patterns. The other side of the paper has Flirty Flamingo and Real Red. You'll find this paper on page 9 of the Sale-a-Bration brochure. I'm trying the Stack, Cut, and Shuffle Technique. With this technique you actually create three cards at once!!! I did not have time to make a video, but this technique is popular. Search for it on Pinterest or YouTube and you'll find it.
The first step for my cards is to cut three different pieces of specialty paper that are stacked together to 3 3/4 x 5. Keep the stack together as we cut. If you have a piece with a direction to it, make sure to place it as needed.
Here is the first cut. There are no measurements for this. Start somewhere near the top left and cut at an angle to the lower right. I don't recommend going to the corner.
For the second cut, go down the left side and cut at an angle over toward the right intersecting somewhere on the cut you just made.
This is how the pieces will look once cut. Shuffle the pieces by placing them as they would go on the card first with the first piece cut, then the second and the third.
My card base is Thick Basic White 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored and folded at 4 1/4. I've also cut a piece of Real Red to 3 7/8 x 5 1/8. You'll need 3 of each of these.
Glue the pieces one by one to the red layer leaving a little space around the outside, but no space between the pieces. I'll admit that my space around the outside did not end up even for each of my panels. In that case just trim a tiny bit to make them the same.
Attach the Real Red panels to the center of each of the card bases.
I did make a different focal piece for each of the cards using lots of new products. Here we go!
For this card I used Gold Foil along with Basic White. Cut the foil using the Thoughtful Expression dies. I used the 3rd from the inside of this shape. I cut the die with three little flowers from the inside of this one. You can cut all at one time. The hole you make will be covered with the white. Stamp the saying in Real Red on white. Cut with the smallest die of that shape. Be careful to line it up so that the saying is straight and so that it will coinside with the gold one. Glue the two together.
The Real Red ribbon is part of the Real Red & Garden Green Ribbon Combo Pack from the annual catalog. Cut a piece that is about 7 inches long and tape to the back of the saying label. Use dimenstionals to add to the card. I tried to place these pieces over the place where the three pieces of DSP come together.
Now add the flowers with glue dots. Put a gem in the center of each from the Adhesive Backed Sparkle Gems.
For this card, I also used the Thoughtful Expressions dies. Check out these dies on page 62 of the mini. They are truly some of the most versatile dies ever! The saying is from the Thoughtful Expressions stamp set. You'll need the bundle! Again, I cut the leaves from the inside of the gold piece. I used the same ribbon and embellishments.
For this focal point I used the Perennial Postage dies. The saying is from the Perennial Postage stamp set. You'll need this bundle as well! Oh, you will love this new catalog! For the saying, ink up the enjoy only by stamping from the side of the ink pad. Cut with the smallest die. Now stamp the rest of the saying on scrap white. Trim around that part and add near the bottom with dimensionals. I used the same ribbon in a different way and the same gems.
So, not being a bling person, I wondered how this technique would look with the other side of the Most Adored DSP. So I lined up another stack and cut it with the other side. I make the cards in exactly the same way except I used the Basic White Herringbone Ribbon from the annual catalog. What do you think?
Let me know which ones you like best.
At the time of this post I will not be able to link to the new products that I used. I'll make a list of them after the hop list. Then you can add them to your shopping list.
My post has been quite long. It's time to pass the torch to Toni Campana. I hope you'll check out each of the participants for our hop today. All are so talented.
