Bird's Eye View Gift Holder Card

I finally purchased the Bird's Eye View stamp set from the annual catalog.  All of the preparation for the holidays have gotten in the way.  I finally made my first card with this set.  It definitely won't be my last.  Those birds are just so cute.

Bird's Eye View Card Sweet Songbirds Bright and Beautiful DSP Linen Thread Merry Melody EF Tinsel Gems Four-Pack Deckled Circles dies Gift Card Holder Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

I need to use some of my Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper so my inspiration was birds and paper.  Why not have her a song  bird?  So I added the Merry Melody Embossing Folder.

The base is 4 1/4 x 9 3/4 and score at 5 1/2.   I'm using Bubble Bath cardstock.

Cut another piece of Bubble Bath that is 4 1/8 x 4 1/8.  Run it through the Cut & Emboss Machine and glue the panel to the front of the card.

Cut a piece of the Bright & Beautiful designer paper to 1 1/8 x 4 1/8.  Glue this to the far right.  That technically is the inside of the card.

Cut another piece of the same designer paper 1 1/4 x 3 3/4.  Glue to the center of the front at an angle.

Stamp the tree branch on a piece of Pecan Pie cardstock in Early Espresso.  Cut out the branch.

Stamp leaves in Lemon Lime Twist onto Lemon Lime Twist cardstock.  I make a set of three.  Cut these out as well.

Stamp the bird in Early Espresso on a Basic White scrap.  Color it in using the Bubble Bath Combo Blends and the Light Crumb Cake blend.  Try not to go over the Early Espresso lines too much.  It really isn't the type of ink that you use with blends.  Go around the bird using a Light Pool Party blend.  Go over the outside edge with the Color Lifter to soften the lines.  I wanted to make the bird pop.  I'm wondering now if I should have used the Light Azure Afternoon blend.  It's the same color that is found in the Bright & Beautiful paper.  I feel it would be too dark.  Cut out the bird using the Deckled Circles dies.  I used the 5th circle from the inside.

Bird's Eye View Card Close Up Sweet Songbirds Bright and Beautiful DSP Merry Melody EF Tinsel Gems Four-Pack Deckled Circles dies Gift Card Holder Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Glue all of the parts on the front of the card as you would like them.

The saying is from the Sweet Songbirds stamp set.  Stamp in Azure Afternoon on a 1/2 inch scrap.

Tie a bow of Linen Thread near the branch and leaves.

Finish the front with lots of Azure Afternoon embellishments from the Tinsel Gem Four Pack.

The inside of the card has a Basic White insert that is 4 1/8 x 4 1/8.  Stamp the saying.  Stamp another leaf set and cut it out.  Stamp the bird and color with the same color blends directly on the cardstock.  Glue on the leaves.

On the far left you will use another piece of the Bright & Beautiful designer paper.  This time it is cut 2 x 4 1/8.   Use the smallest circle from the Deckled Circles dies to cut a half circle about half way across.  Add Tear & Tape around the remaining three side.  Add to the card.  You have made a place to put a gift card.

I'm beginning to think that pink just might be growing on me.  I love this card!

NC Demo Blog Hop - I'll Have a Pink Christmas

Welcome to the NC Stampin' Up! Demo Blog Hop for November.  Our theme is I'll Have a Pink Christmas.  I can't wait to take the hop myself.  I think this is such and interesting topic.  I'll admit.  I do not like pink!  But for some odd reason, I got excited.  I predict that great projects are there just for the clicking!  Please take the entire hop!

I'll have a Pink Christmas

We were also encouraged not to use a Christmas stamp set.  I did use Brightest Glow, a set carried over from last year's mini.  Other than that, I don't have Christmas supplies.

NC Demo November Hop Card in Pink Grove dies Brightest Glow Natural Prints dies Silver and White Sheer Ribbon Bubble Bath Blends Soft Shimmer Paper Combo Pack Merry Melody EF Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

I had a hard time with my pictures this time.  The pink does not show well.  I'm using Bubble Bath.  The base is cut to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, score and fold at 4 1/4.

Cut a panel of Bubble Bath that is 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 and run it through the Cut & Emboss Machine with the Merry Melody Embossing Folder.  Glue this panel to the front of the card.

Maybe you could say I cheated a bit by using the Natural Prints dies.  They do have a wreath.  I cut two wreaths, one from the Berry Burst Soft Shimmer Paper Combo Pack and one from Bubble Bath shimmer from the same pack.  Put the Berry Burst on the bottom.  Play around with the wreaths and pull a little of the berry to the front where possible.  I didn't want the Berry Burst to be hidden.  Put the two together with glue dots here and there.   Add the two wreaths with Mini Dimensionals.

Use the Silver & White Sheer Ribbon from the mini catalog.  I colored the ribbon with a Dark Bubble Bath Blend and let it dry just a little.  Tie a bow and add with a glue dot to the bottom right of the wreath.  It looks so pretty in real life!

Cut a deer from Thick Basic White card stock using the Grove dies.  Add over the knot of the ribbon with Mini Dimensionals.  Do not place directly over the knot.

Stamp the sentiment on Basic White in Berry Burst using Brightest Glow.  Fussy cut and add to the upper left of the wreath.

Finish with lots of the 2023-2025 In Color Dots.

NC Demo November Hop Grove dies Brightest Glow Natural Prints dies Silver and White Sheer Ribbon Bubble Bath Blends Soft Shimmer Paper Combo Pack Merry Melody EF Inside of Card Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

I usually add a layer of Basic White on the inside of the card.  Today I decided to leave the pink.  The saying here is also from Brightest Glow and stamped in Berry Burst.

Add another white deer.

That's it.  I thank you for your visit and I hope you found a little inspiration.  For even more inspiration, is up next.

Luv 2 Stamp Blog Hop November 2023 - Embossing

Welcome to the Luv 2 Stamp Group’s 2023 Blog Hop! We are excited to share projects with you again for the third year. This year we are shaking things up and bringing you all new monthly themes to inspire your next project!

Once you are done with each post, scroll down to the bottom and you will see a list of Blog Hop participants, you can click on their name to go to their post, or you can click the next button to go to the next post in line. Happy crafting!
This month’s theme is Embossing.
No photo description available.
There are several types of embossing.  So you might see embossing folders, embossing paste, and powder embossing on this hop.  I'll be showing some powder embossing today.

Luv 2 Stamp Blog Hop Embossing Card Pic White Background Snowflake Magic Specialty Soft Shimmer Paper Combo Pack Joseph's Coat Technique Sparkling Snowflakes Silver and White Sheer Ribbon Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create
The technique I'll be sharing is called Joseph's Coat Technique.  It's been around for a long time, but I haven't used it in a while.  I do have a video on this post.

My base is Thick Basic White 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Score at 4 1/4 and use a Bone Folder to get a good crisp fold.

For the background of the card, I used the Snowflake Magic Specialty Paper.  Cut to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8.  Glue to the card front.

You'll also need a piece of the Bubble Bath from the Soft Shimmer Paper Combo Pack.  This piece measures 3 1/4 x 4 1/2.
Wait to add this piece to the card because we'll be adding a ribbon around it later.

We'll  be making the focal layer on a piece of Basic White 3 x 4 1/4.

I used Pool Party and Fresh Freesia ink for this project.  Add color over the white cardstock piece with Blending Brushes.  Add the color  in spaces here and there.  It's ok to leave a little white, but you'll want to cover most of the surface.  Start with a little color and build on it until you get the color you want.  If you have time, it might help to let this ink dry a little or run your heat tool over it.  I did not show doing that, but when I make the card again, I will.

Luv 2 Stamp Blog Hop Embossing Snowflake Magic Specialty Soft Shimmer Paper Combo Pack Joseph's Coat Technique Sparkling Snowflakes Silver and White Sheer Ribbon Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Place all of the snowflakes from the Sparkling Snowflakes on a large clear block together.  Place them close to each other.  This picture is not that clear, but hopefully you can see on the video if you wish.  Stamp with Versamark ink.  Turn the pad upside down and stamp on the block as you see it.
Make sure to use an embossing buddy over the entire piece of paper first.  This also helps make sure the ink is dry.  Stamp the block of snowflakes over the paper.
Add clear embossing powder, from the Basics Embossing Powder pack, over the paper.  Flick off the extra powder and heat with your heat tool.  This is all a little hard to see since everything is clear, but it's so worth it.

Now comes that part that makes the show stopper.  Take a Boho Blue ink pad and run it over the embossed paper until the entire surface is covered.  This is a ink resist technique.  The clear embossing will not accept the ink.  Take a paper towel and wipe off the excess ink on the snowflakes.  It's magic!  I have mostly seen this technique using black or navy or espresso.  I think the Boho ink works well.

Luv 2 Stamp Blog Hop Embossing Close Up of Ribbon and Tag Snowflake Magic Specialty Soft Shimmer Paper Combo Pack Joseph's Coat Technique Sparkling Snowflakes Silver and White Sheer Ribbon Jo Anne Hewins Luv 2 Create

Glue the panel to the Bubble Bath Soft Shimmer paper.

Run Silver & White Sheer Ribbon around this layer and tie into a bow.  This ribbon looks so pretty with the silver in the Snowflake Magic Specialty Paper.

For the tag, I used the Tailor Made Tags dies.  First rub your white scrap with the embossing buddy.  Stamp the saying from So Sincere in Versamark.  Add silver embossing powder from the Metallics Embossing Powders.  Heat with a Heat Tool.  Cut out using one of the smallest tags centering around the saying.  I made the tag shorter.  Simply add the die about an inch or so above the bottom.  You can feel the tie kind of pop into place into the dots already there.  Tape if you wish to hold it all in place and cut again.  This is in the video.  Tie on the tag with silver trim from the Simply Elegant Trims.

Glue the panel to the center of the card.

Complete the card with embellishments.  I used Adhesive-Backed Sparkle Gems on one of the cards and Adhesive-Backed Glitter Sequins on the other.  Both look great!

Here's the video!

Thanks so much for joining me on the hop today.  I know you will be inspired by all of the stops on our hop.  I hope you enjoy!
