NC Blog Hop for July It's FAUX-tastic!

Welcome to the NC Blog Hop for July.  Today we are looking for techniques that just might not be exactly as they appear to be.  Our theme is It's FAUX-tastic!

I'm so glad you are here!  You might have come from Tina Lesson's blog.  I'm sure you loved her project for today.  If you are starting here, please make sure that you visit everyone on the hop.  You'll be so glad that you took the time.

I have 2 faux things about my project.  The fold is a faux step card.  It's so much easier than the old step card with lots less cutting.  I also have a faux metal focus piece for the card.

I have a video for you today, so I'm not going to go into too much detail.  I'm using the Earthen Elegance Designer Series Paper for the card.  There's also copper embossing.

The base of the card is Copper Clay measuring 5 1/2 x 8.  This is a little different than usual.  Score this at 1, 2, and 4.  You'll also need another piece of Copper Clay that is 3 x 8, score at 4.

Measurements of the Earthen Elegance Designer Series Paper are 3 x 4 for the front of the card. (3 x 8 and folded piece), 1 x 5 1/2 for the front panel at the bottom, and 1 1/2 x 3 for the side panel.  You need 2 that look the same.

For the inside of the card, Basic White 2 7/8 x 5 3/8.

Faux Copper piece is 2 1/4 x 3.  I used the thicker backing for a pack of designer paper.  The Pretty Peacock frame for this piece is 2 1/2 x 3 1/4.

Inked & Tiled and the 2023-2025 In Color 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper Stack

I hope this post finds you well.  I also hope that you find time in your busy world to stamp.  For me, stamping is my happy place.  Today I'm sharing the Inked & Tiled stamp set with Pebbled Path and Boho Blue, 2 of our new In Colors.

I needed a card that didn't take a lot of time.  I'm sure this happens to you as well.  This card fits the bill.  The base is Pebbled Path cut to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.

The Boho Blue layer is measures 4 1/8 x 5 3/8.  

The white layer is 3 7/8 x 5 1/8.  Add to the left of this paper a piece of Pebbled Path that is 1 1/2 x 5 1/8.  Over the right of that paper, add a 1/4 inch piece of Boho Blue designer paper from the same 2023-2025 In Color 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper.  I suggest that you add the designer paper to the white BEFORE you add that layer to the card front.

We are going to add color to the stamp from Inkded and Tiled by using the Stampin' Write Markers directly on the stamp.  Use the larger end of the marker on the stamp.  Color by using the side of the marker so that you don't ruin the point of the marker. Use Boho Blue for the flowers and Pebbled Path for the stems and leaves.  When done coloring huff on the stamp to add a little moisture and stamp.

Stamp the saying from Inked & Tiled in Pebbled Path.

I used the 2023-2025 In Color Jute Trim for my bow.  I pulled apart the strands, and then tied my bow.  Add it with a glue dot.

Embellish the card with the Adhesive-Backed Solid Gems.

Here's the inside of my card.  My Pebbled Path ink pad is very juicy so I stamped off the leaf stamp from Inked & Tiled.  For the other stamp, color directly on the stamp with Stampin' Write Markers.

Let's Go Fishing Masculine Card with No Fish!

The Let's Go Fishing Designer Series Paper is beautiful and it's great for masculine cards.  I have for you today using the paper, but there are no fish on this card.  I don't know any fisher people, but I do know guys.  They all have birthdays! Yes, I know there are girls that would love this card, too.

The base of this card is Night of Navy cut to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, score and fold at 4 1/4.  

Pick two patterns of the Let's Go Fishing paper and cut to 1 x 4 1/8.  These patterns repeat.  Glue the two end pieces first.  Use your Grid Paper to help determine the center of the card.  Add that piece.  Now the remaining pieces will go in the center between the end and the middle.

Use the Alphabet a la Mode dies for the letters in BIRTHDAY.  Add some of the Adhesive Sheets to one side of the Night of Navy cardstock.  This will turn the letters into stickers.  Place these on a strip of the diagonal stripe designer paper that is 2 1/4 inches wide.  Use the largest tag from the Tailor Made Tags dies.  Leave room at the end of the tag with the hole before beginning the letters.  The letters extend beyond the tag die.  You will need to extend the space.

Lay the die on the designer paper to cut the hole end of the tag.  Only lay the top clear plate part way so that the other end of the tag will not cut.  Now move the die so that it will include all of the letters.  You will feel the stitches fall in place with the die.  This time place the clear plate past the top of the tag so that only the end will cut.  Here's a video to show how to lengthen the tag.

 

Tie a piece of the 2023-2025 In Color Jute around the hole.  I used the Pebbled Path jute.

Add the tag to the card with dimensionals.

Stamp the word happy from the Biggest Wish stamp in Night of Navy ink on Basic White.  Fussy cut around the word and add it with mini dimensionals.

Cut three balloons from the designer paper using the Beautiful Balloons dies.  Glue or add these with dimensionals.  

Embellish the card front with the Pebbled Path dots from the 2023-2025 In Color Dots.

Here's the inside of the card.  Just add in some of the designer paper to decorate.

Silly Goose a Tutorial Medley Tutorial

Today I'm sharing my card for the Tutorial Medley Group.  We are a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators that work together to make a group of tutorials each month.  Our theme for July is critters.  I give this group of around 16 tutorials to my Luv 2 Create team members and to my wonderful customers.  I appreciate all of you!

So for my project I used the Silly Goose stamp set found on page 51 of the annual catalog.  Those geese are so cute!

Luv 2 Stamp Blog Hop July 2023

I'm so glad that you have joined me today.  My name is Jo Anne Hewins.  I'm from NC.  I've been part of the Luv 2 Stamp group for around 12 1/2 years.  I'm going to be bringing a little bit of Christmas in July for my project.  I made this Christmas bag for a Luv 2 Stamp group activity back in May.  I love how it turned out and, quite frankly,  I just don't think I can wait much longer to share it with everyone else!  It uses the Lemon Lime Twist ribbon from the Duo Ribbon Pack, a part of the Zoo Crew Suite Collection pictured on pages 46-47 of the annual catalog.

 

This bag style can be found on Pinterest.  It's made from two 6 x 6 pieces of designer paper.  I chose to use the Dotted Granny Apple Green from the Brights 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper stack.  Begin with 2 matching sheets of this paper.  This paper has no directionality so it won't matter how you begin to score.  Place your paper along the top of the Simply Scored and score at 3/4.  Turn your paper and score the other 3 sides at 1 1/2.  Do this for both of your papers.

 

 

This picture is from an older post and shows how your papers should be folded and trimmed.  Fold down the 3/4 inch side.  One piece has the bottom two corners removed.  The other has simply trimmed on the score lines.

Add a piece of cardboard from a pack of designer paper cut 1 3/8 x 2 7/8 to the bottom of the piece that has the missing corners.

For the front of the bag, use the Zoo Crew 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper.  For the deer, color the flower with a Light Real Red blend for the petals and a Dark Daffodil Delight blend for the center. The antlers are colored with the Light Crumb Cake blend.  Cut the deer out with your Paper Snips.  She's going to need a Christmas necklace so color some of the Basic Rhinestones with a Dark Cherry Cobbler Blend.  Add her toward the top of the bag with dimensionals.  You might need to trim them for the legs.

The saying is from the Ringed with Nature stamp set.  Stamp in Real Red on a Basic White scrap and trim the words closely.  Add the words with dimensionals as well.

The tree dies are part of the Zany Zoo dies.  Cut 3 large trees in Garden Green and 2 small ones in Lemon Lime.  Glue these to the bag.  Color more Basic Rhinestones for the tree tops.

I think the bag front will adapt nicely to a card front.  These would make some super cute Christmas cards!  So I have one for you!

 

This card is very close to the card.  I used a piece of the same Brights 6 x 6 designr paper cut to 1 3/4 x 5 1/2.  I added a 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch strip of Zany Zoo Designer Series Paper sticking out of the top.  Tie around the Lemon Lime Twist ribbon and into a knot.  The saying is from the Brightest Glow stamp set.  Stamp on Basic White scrap in Real Red ink.  Fussy cut around it and add with dimensionals.

Cut 5 small Lemon Lime trees and 6 of the larger Garden Green trees.  Add these across the card just above the designer paper and add a couple trees to the lower right.

Cut out the reindeer and add to the card with mini dimensionals.

Color the Basic Rhinestone Jewels with a Dark Cherry Cobbler Blend.  Let them dry.  Add to the tree tops.

So here is a picture of the gift bag and card together.
