NC Demo Blog Hop for May- New Kids on the Block
May 28, 2023
Welcome to the NC Demo Blog Hop for May. We have our hop on the last Sunday of each month at 8:00 pm ET. I'm so happy that you are here. Our theme this month is New Kids on the Block. We'll be using a brand new stamp set from the Annual Catalog. You may have just come from Tina Lesson's post. I know she had a great project. Please visit everyone on the hop. You'll see lots of great ideas.
I'm sharing the Zany Zoo bundle and the Zoo Crew Designer Series Paper. There's so much to love about this suite. The DSP is filled with so many different animals doing so many fun things. There are 2 sheets of paper with animals for a birthday, animals camping and outside, animals on all kinds of wheels, ballerina animals, animals playing instruments, and animals at home. The opportunities are endless with this paper. And, best of all in my opinion, is that the backs of these papers are all black and white designs! My card is a W Fun Fold. You won't be able to tell from this first picture, but it's so cute!
I'll start with the front of the card, but don't miss the inside. The base of this card is Lemon Lime Twist. That's my new favorite color! It's cut to 4 1/4 x 11 and scored and folded at 5 1/2.
Cut a piece of the black and white Zoo Crew paper to 4 x 5 1/2 and glue to the card front. There's a strip of a different black and white that is 3/4 x 4 1/2. It doesn't really matter. I was working with scraps I had close by. Notch the ends and add near the bottom.
Cut yet another piece of black and white with the largest circle from the Stylish Shapes dies. Use a Blending Brush and Balmy Blue ink to add color to the circle. I do have a video and in that I use Pool Party. That was my first intention, but I pulled at the Balmy by mistake.
I hope you love to fussy cut because I did a lot of cutting for this card. I do love to cut! Cut out 2 figures to glue to the card. Pick out two that are facing each other. I'm using a musical theme, but choose what you wish. The saying is from the Zany Zoo stamp set. Cut out with the 2nd smallest circle from Stylish Shapes. Stamp in Memento ink.
I glued everything on the front of the card because there is a lot of thickness to this card. If you are giving it in person, then add lots of dimensionals. If you are mailing, stick to the glue.
And here is the inside of the card. It might look complicated, but it's not. Again, I do have a video that I'll put near the end of the post.
Cut 2 pieces of black and white 4 x 5 1/2. I would make them match. I think I would love to have a whole back of that zig zag black and white. I love it! Glue to both sides of the inside of the card.
Next, cut a strip of Lemon Lime Twist card stock 1 3/4 x 11. Score this at 2 3/4, 5 1/2, and 8 1/4. Fold at half way with a mountain fold. The other two folds are valley folds.
Cut 4 panels of Lemon Lime Twist that are 2 1/4 x 2 3/4. Then cut 4 of black and white DSP. Pick the lighter paper. Color these papers with the Blending Brush. The narrow side will go to the top if you want something to go a certain way. Glue the DSP to each panel.
From Lemon Lime Twist cut 2 of the curtains and the 2 tie backs. Cut the wavy part of the curtain. I cut that paper about 3/4 inch. Place the die close to the edge. Cut. Then match up the last part of the die and cut the whole thing again.
I added the curtains next to the first and last panel. I let the short scalloped curtain to behind the main curtains. Add that piece first. Then add the main curtains. Continue the scalloped across all of the panel, finishing up with the panel on the other end with the big curtain. For this I went from right to left. It doesn't really matter.
Lay out the panels and decide what you would like on each. Start cutting! On the designer paper you'll find the frogs face in different directions so I put them together facing each other. I did not add any color the all of the cut outs. You could certainly use Watercolor Pencils or Blends to add more.
The saying is from Zany Zoo, but I cut it down just for those words.
Glue the panels in place on the W fold strip. Make sure you keep them even.
Fold the W panel closed and add glue to the it panel. It will be the far right panel back side. Center and make sure you are gluing that straight. With the W closed, add glue to the back side of the far left panel. Now close the main card. The panel will glue exactly where it needs to be.
There's not a lot of writing room on this card so I added a 4 x 5 1/4 panel to the back. Just cut out another frog and add him. Write away!
Here's the video!
My post is written with Balmy Blue. In the video I use Pool Party. Which do you like best?
I hope you enjoyed this card. There are so many great cards being featured on the hop today. You don't want to miss any of them. Up next is Toni Campana. You'll love her project!
