This month’s theme is Sweet Treat - a 3D item.
I'm so glad that you are here!
I have a treat bag and matching card for you today. This bag has been around for a while. I have updated it with current supplies. Warning! This post is rather lengthy. There's a video as well.
I'm using the Country Floral Lane Designer Series Paper for both of these projects. Begin with 2 matching sheets of this paper both cut to 6 x 6. Determine if the designer paper you are using has a directionality. If so you'll want to place the top of your paper so that it is along the left side of the Simply Scored. Score at 3/4. Turn your paper and score the other 3 sides at 1 1/2. Do this for both of your papers.
When typing up this post I decided I needed more pictures to explain. I had to change designer papers because I had used all of the other one. This one is still from Country Floral Lane. Please excuse that. I think it's easier done than said. This paper may show the directionality thing a little better.
Fold and burnish the folds with your Bone Folder. The top smaller fold will be folded down. All of the other folds are mountain folds. One one of the papers cut out the bottom left and right corners on the score lines with your Paper Snips. Remember that the top fold is the smallest one. On the other piece cut from the side on the bottom score line into the next score line on both sides.
Add a piece of cardboard from a pack of designer paper cut 1 3/8 x 2 7/8 to the bottom of the piece that has the missing corners.
Glue the bottom center of the other piece onto the bottom of the first piece. Watching the score lines.
Here it is turned to the other side.
You will glue the center little flaps next. Put glue on the side that has the print of the outside of the bag. You will glue these to the inside of the bag. Glue to the same piece of paper (the one that just has the slits cut out. This will allow that front of the finished bag to look nicer.
Glue the sides of the bag to the outside.
I added glue dots under the top folded down flap where it stuck out a little on each side.
To decorate the bag, cut a tag from coordinating designer paper from the Country Floral Lane paper. Use the second largest more ornate tag from the Tailored Made Tags dies.
The plain and detailed leaves are cut from Mint Macaron using the Summer Shadows dies. Glue together and add with dimensionals to the tag.
The white flowers are also cut from the Summer Shadows dies. You'll cut 3 of the smaller flower in Basic White. Curl the petals with your Bone Folder and attach the flowers with glue dots setting eac flower just a little askew from the others. For the center of the flower use the Hydrangea dies. I cut 3 from designer paper. Use that long die with lots of flowers attached. Glue together a little askew. Take some kind of rounded end (I used an old paper piercer) and put it in the center of the flowers. Push into a soft surface like the Paper Pierce Mat to get some dimension. Glue to the center of the flower. Add the flower with a dimensional.
The tiny tag is made using the Hydrangea Haven stamp set and the Hydrangea dies. Use Petal Pink to stamp. I added this with a glue dot at the hole and a dimensional out near the end.
Take the white twine from the Baker's Twine Essentials Pack and color with a Dark Petal Pink Blend.
Add a bow just under the flower and a little twine at the end of the tag.
Use the Elegant Faceted Gems to embellish.
Add the tag with dimensionals to the bag.
For the handles color White Crinkled Seam Binding with the Dark Petal Pink Blend. I used 2 pieces about 10 inches long. Punch holes on each side. Pull the twine through. Usually, you can just tie a knot and you'll be good to go. The seam binding would pull through even with the knot. I used some invisible tape to hold it on the inside.
I added a 3 x 3 card to accompany my bag. There are 3 x 3 white envelopes on page 137 in the annual catalog. They come in a pack of 40.
I cut a 3 x 6 piece of Thick Basic White cardstock. Score at 3. Add a piece of designer paper cut to 2 7/8 x 2 7/8.
Use the Tailor Made Tags dies to cut another tag the same size as above from Basic White. This tag is actually too long. I show in the video how you can shorten the tag.
Cut the detailed leaves using the Summer Shadows dies and Mint Macaron cardstock.
Cut the flower from coordinating paper using the same dies.
Stamp and cut out another small tag from Basic White using the Hydrangea Haven stamp set and Hydrangea dies.
Assemble all of your pieces and add a bow. Again color the white twine with a Dark Petal Pink Blend.
Add more designer paper to the flap of the envelope. That's also in the video.
There you have it. Here's my video.
I hope you'll contine on the hop. There are some great 3D ideas and Valentines as well. You don't want to miss any of them.
