Welcome to the Luv 2 Stamp Group’s 2022 Blog Hop! We are excited to share our projects with you. We hope to inspire you to create beautiful new projects. Each month we will have a different theme based on the next month’s celebrations using Stampin’ Up! products.
Once you are done with each post, scroll down to the bottom and you will see a list of Blog Hop participants, you can click on their name to go to their post, or you can click the next button to go to the next post in line. Happy crafting! This month’s theme is New Products from the January-April Mini or Sale-a-Bration.
Today I have a fun fold for you using the Sale-a-Bration Adorable Owls stamp set, the Day at the Farm Desinger Series Paper, and the Dandy Designs Designer Series Paper. All can be earned for free with a qualifying purchase during Sale-a-Bration beginning January 5th until the end of February. The name of the fold is the Floating Pop Up Gate Fold.
I love the belly band. Let's get started and tell you how to make this card.
The base is Old Olive 5 1/2 x 8 1/2. Score at 2 1/8 from each side. Fold toward the center and burnish with a Bone Folder. Cut two pieces of Soft Suede cardstock to 2 x 5 3/8. Cut 2 pieces of the Balmy Blue dotted paper from Dandy Designs. These measure 1 7/8 x 5 1/4. Glue down these layers on the flaps.
For the inside of the card, cut a piece of Soft Suede 4 1/8 x 5 3/8. Use the Balmy Blue check from Dandy Designs cut to 4 x 5 1/4. Glue these on the inside. By the way, isn't the inside so cute!
For the inside of the card, cut a piece of Soft Suede 4 1/8 x 5 3/8. Use the Balmy Blue check from Dandy Designs cut to 4 x 5 1/4. Glue these on the inside. By the way, isn't the inside so cute!
For the belly band you'll need a 1 x 10 piece of Old Olive. Fold this around the card. You don't want it to be too tight because you'll need to be able to slip it on and off the card. I used the Multipurpose Glue to secure the ends to each other. Make sure that the ends are straight together. I usually put the side with the ends on the front. The belly band decoration will hide the ends and the back will look better.
To decorate the band you'll need a piece of Old Olive that is 3 x 4 1/4, a piece of Soft Suede 2 7/8 x 4 1/8, and a piece of the green paper from Day at the Farm designer paper cut to 2 3/4 x 4. Layer all of those. Wrap a piece of Linen Thread around this layer. I secured mine behind the square, but it doesn't matter since the back will be hidden by the band. Make a bow to add later. The sun is cut from Crushed Curry cardstock using the Palm dies. You could also use the Layering Circles, but it will be larger.
Stamp the flying owl on a piece of Basic White cardstock using Memento Black. Color the bird with blends. I used Crumb Cake combo, Soft Suede combo, Dark Daffodil, Balmy Blue combo, and Dark Pumpkin Pie. Cut out the owl with the 3rd largest square from the Stylish Shapes dies.
Stamp the saying from the Adorable Owls stamp set in Memento. Cut out with the Stylish Shapes using the smallest banner. Add the owl and the banner with dimensionals. Add the linen bow with a rolled up glue dot.
Glue this piece to the belly band. Put the belly band on and place it where you want it. Add glue to the band. Place the layer so that it is centered on the front of the card front.
Now for the inside of the card. Stamp and color the other 2 owls on Basic White. Use the same colors as the front. Cut these out with the same square as on the front using the Stylish Shapes dies. You'll notice that the birthday hat will not fit in the square. Simply cut off the hat with the square. Stamp that part of the owl with the hat again on a scrap. Color with hat with the Balmy Blue blends. Cut out the hat. Matching up the images glue the bottom of the hat in place. Part of the hat will extend beyond the square.
For my card I used a strip of white cardstock 3/4 x 4 1/8. Score at 3/4, 1 1/2, and 3 3/8. Bend at the score lines all bending down in the same direction. Before gluing, place the owls and figure out where they need to be. Look at the distance at the top and the bottom and center. Make sure the owls are not going to overlap each other. I did not measure mine, but they both ended up being about 1 1/4 inch from edge of card to the beginning of the strip. Put glue on the flap of the strip by itself. It will fit on the flap of the card front. Place it just above the fold. Close the flap and make sure the strip is straight. Fold the rest of the strip back on itself. Put glue on the last section of the strip. While the strip is folded back close the flap again. This should glue the strip in the right place. Repeat on the other side of the card. Glue the owls in place on the raised part of the strips.
Use the Stitched Rectangles for the saying piece. It is the piece that is all by itself with the dies. The saying is from Adorable Owls. Stamp in Memento and glue to the inside.
Cut another moon for the inside of the card. This can match the moon on the outside. I have to admit that I used a 1 1/2 inch circle punch (retired) for this. Punch a circle from Crushed Curry. Go back to the hole you punched and move the punch over and beyond the hole until you see the size moon that you want and punch again.
Some of these directions are a little fuzzy. I'm adding a video. I hope it will clear things up for you.
I hope you'll continue on the hop. You'll see lots of great ideas for the new products coming our way! Click on the picture or see the list of hoppers below with their links. Thanks for stopping by!
