NC Demo Blog Post for October - Know When to Fold Them

Let me give you a disclaimer before you read this post.  I use Typepad as my blogging platform.  They are in the process of changing over some things and they are having major problems.  I was set to take part in the NC Blog Hop.  I couldn't due to those problems.  I had to pull out.  Now all is posted.  Most of the hop people took me out as they should they done.  Hops need to be complete.  I am choosing to add the links on my post.  Just note that the hop probably won't be in a complete circle.  Our hop was on fun folds and I know people love those.  You can visit all of the sites by coming back to my post to click on the links.  Thanks for your understanding.  I still don't think all of my pictures are back yet.

Welcome to the NC Demo Blog Hop for October!  Today we are all about the fold.  Everyone loves a fun fold.  Easy or hard we love to figure them out.  What's even better is when someone helps you along and tells you just how it's done.  For me this card started on my birthday when a friend Twila gave me a beautiful fun fold.  She told me she got the fold from Rachel Tessman.  You can find the link for Rachel's video here.  I could make a video, but Rachel's is wonderful.  It's called a Corner Open Fun Fold Card.  By the way Twila and I have the same birthday!

So let me get back to business.  I can get carried away.  We here in North Carolina are so happy that you are here.  We want you to visit all of us because you'll get some great ideas for fun folds!

So here is my card for today.  I'll try to take you through the steps and then remember there's a link above if you need it.

I love this card!  I'm using the Abigail Rose Designer Series Paper.  I think Rachel also used this paper, but mine is completely different.  Start by cutting the paper seen above to 7 x 8 1/4.  This paper does have a specific direction and you'll want to pay attention to that.  With the paper upright with the direction score at 2 3/4 from the left side.  Turn the paper and score at 2 3/4 again.  This time it is actually from the top of the paper.  Burnish the folds with a Bone Folder.  The paper folded down from the top will be upside down.  Don't worry, we'll fix it.

Now, cut a piece of Petal Pink cardstock to 4 x 5 1/4.  Cut a Basic White layer to 3 3/4 x 5.  Layer the white piece on top of the Petal Pink.  The sayings on the white are stamped in Early Espresso.  They are from the Dragonfly Garden stamp set.  Stamp one near the top left and the other at the bottom right.  These layers are the inside of the card and should fit right in the open space left after the folds have been made.

That leaves the corner.  If you are really good you can carefully mash the corner down.  I'm not that good.  So the alternative is to measure from the upper left corner across the top 5 1/2 and down the side 5 1/2.  Make a little pencil mark.  Use the well of your paper trimmer to connect the 2 marks and score.  Burnish the score line into mountain folds with a Bone Folder.  Bring these two folds together and down and the corner will fall into place.  Now, I'm going to just tell you that I had a little trouble here and that's where I went to the video.  I'm a little challenged with that kind of thing.  I did it and you can too!

Cut two pieces of the designer paper that are 2 1/2 x 2 1/2.  I colored one of these with the Petal Pink Combo Blends, Dark So Saffron Blend and the Dark Soft Sea Foam Blend.  I did not color the other one, but of course you could.  Cut a piece of Petal Pink cardstock that is 2 5/8 x 2 5/8.  Layer the colored paper with the Petal Pink and that goes on the outside of the card on the square.  The other piece of designer paper goes on the inside corner.  I did not layer it with Petal Pink but of course you can.

That leaves a section of showing paper that is unside down and we can't have that.  You'll need a piece of designer paper that is 1 1/4 x 2 2 1/2.  Color as above.  Add this to a piece of Petal Pink that is 1 3/8 x 2 5/8.  Add to the card.

Stamp the Happy Birthday in Early Espresso on Basic White.  This is from the Cottage Rose stamp set.  Cut out the saying with the Stylish Shapes dies.  Glue to the card making sure not to put adhesive and the part that sticks out beyond that layer of paper.  Add a bow of Linen Thread with a glue dot.

Embellish the card with some of the Champagne Rhinestone Jewels.  If you wish you could always color the rest of the front of the card. That would be so pretty!
