Our theme this month is Always in Style.

NC Demo August

We are featuring cards in black and white.  Stampin' Up! has some great black and white options right now so I'm very excited to see the cards that will be shared with us.  Black and white can be so elegant, or it doesn't have to be.  Here's my card.

This is a fun fold card.  Start with a base of Basic Black cut 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  Using the Perfectly Penciled Designer Series Paper cut 2 strips that are 3/4 x 5 1/2.  Add these to each side of the base.

Now cut a piece of Thick White cardstock that is 3 1/4 x 11.  Score this at 5 1/2.  Burnish the fold with a Bone Folder.  This will later be glued to the center of the card base, but I think it might be easier to decorate the front of this mini card before you add it to the base.

For the front I embossed pieces of Basic Black and Basic White.  My pieces were 3 x 4.  I used these folders:  Hive, Quatrefoil Tile, Pretty Flowers, and Fern.

Cut these in strips at an angle.  You might end up with enough for more than one card.  The width of the strips is up to you.  I just cut at an angle and glued one at a time.  I repeated the embossed design at the bottom from the top.  When done, turn this layer over to the back and trim even with the cardstock.

Now glue this mini card to the base.  I use my Grid Paper to help me get this even on each side and straight.

Stamp the saying from Waves of Inspiration on Basic White using the Memento Black pad.  Cut this out with the Waves dies.  This leaves a great way to weave the ribbon through the ends of the saying.  Thread the Metallic Mesh Ribbon through the ends and around the back.  Add dimensionals to the back of the saying and adhere.  Tie the ribbon into a bow over the opening to the left.  I added a little glue dot under the bow to keep it in place.

Add some Basic Rhinestone Jewels to complete the card.

Here is the inside of the card.  The saying is from Waves of Inspiration.  I did add some embossed cardstock at the bottom of the inside.  Let me say here that it is easier to add that piece before you glue the card to the base!
