Sweet Songbirds Bundle For a Birthday
May 17, 2022
Stampin' Up! has come up with an adorable bird bundle called the Sweet Songbirds with the Songbird Builder punch. We all love punches. My friend Kaye had a birthday recently and I made this card for her.
It's a simple fun fold. Here is a picture of the open card.
Kaye loves purple so I made the card for her in shades of purple. The base is Highland Heather cut to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2. Score it at 2 1/8 and 4 1/4. Fold in the center as a usual card. The smaller flap is folded back away from the card.
The patterned paper for this card is from the Butterfly Kisses Designer Series Paper. The piece for the folded back flap is cut to 2 x 5 1/2. Place this in the center of this flap. It goes all the way from top to bottom. The piece for the inside of the card measures 2 1/4 x 5 1/2. Place it showing just a little of the Highland Heather base. This makes it similar to the front. The Basic White piece for the inside measures 1 3/4 x 5 1/2. Butt it up next the the designer paper. I recommend that you so your stamping for the inside first.
The saying for the inside was too long for my space. I stamped in Memento Black. I inked from the edge of the pad only the part of the stamp without the last word. Clean super well and then ink just the last word. OK, I admit that to cleaned my stamp by stamping it over and over again on scrap paper until there was no more ink. That worked. Stamp the musical notes down in the corner.
For the panel in the front I used the Seasonal Labels dies. They aren't just for Christmas. Those labels are great! Cut from Basic White card stock. Punch the bird from Fresh Freesia and from Highland Heather card stock. The beak is from Daffodil Delight. Assemble the parts as seen on the card. I used the smallest Classic Matte Dots in black for the eyes. I added a little dot of white using the now retired Chalk Marker.
On white stamp the branch in Early Espresso and a bunch of the leaves in Parakeet Party, one of our new In Colors. Fussy cut the branch and leaves. I did cut the leaves in their groups of two and three. Add everything with dimensionals. Stamp notes and the saying in Memento Black.
When you adhere this panel to the front remember that you only need adhesive on one side. You don't want to glue your card shut, do you!
This was my first card using this bundle, but I see many more in my future. How about you?
