NC Demo Blog Hop for March with Challenge Dice

Welcome to the NC Demo Blog Hop.  We post the last Sunday of each month at 8:00 pm ET.  I'm so glad you are here!  You might have come from Toni's blog or you might be starting with me.  Either way I hope you'll take the entire hop!

This month we are using Challenge Dice to help us design our cards.

NC Demo Blog Hop Blocks

After a toss of the dice we are making cards that are clean & simple (super hard for me), use some In Colors, are about friendship, use sponging, and finally they must have ribbon or twine.  This challenge proved to be quite a bit of fun.  I don't have these dice, but maybe I need some.  You can find these on  Tamra Davis' Etsy store here.

The base of this card is Rich Razzleberry that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, fold at 4 1/4.  I'm using the Hydrangea Haven stamp set.  Stamp the large flower on the front of the base stamping in Rich Razzleberry for a tone on tone.  Think mainly about the stems.  Remember that the white layer will hide a lot of this.

The Flowering Fields Designer Series Paper is cut 2 x 5 1/2.  I placed this over from the left side about 3/4 of an inch.  Use Grid Paper to make sure that your placement is straight.

Use the Scalloped Contours dies to cut the second largest rectangle from Basic White.

Stamp the large flower using Memento Black ink.  Place in the middle of the layer.

Let's add color!  Stamp the solid filler stamp for the flower in Fresh Freesia.  With a sponge dauber, add some Rich Razzleberry ink directly on the stamp surface right on top of the freesia.  Stamp around the edges on one side, not the entire surface.  Stamp on the paper.  Now your stamp will be larger than the black imprint.  It's supposed to be that way!

Stamp the stem and leaves on Soft Succulent.  With a sponge dauber add some Evening Evergreen ink to the stem and to the leaves right at the stem.  Stamp matching to the printed flower.

So my In Colors are Fresh Freesia, Soft Succulent, and Evening Evergreen.

Add the layer to the card front with dimensionals.  But first pull the Black & White Gingham Ribbon around the card.  Wait to tie it.

Take a strip of Basic White 1/2 inch wide.  It's one of the pieces cut off when cutting an 8 1/2 x 11 paper into 4 pieces of 4 x 5 1/4.  Stamp the saying from Hydrangea Haven in Rich Razzleberry.  Adhere the piece to the bottom of the rectangle layer.  Trim to fit the sides of the card.  Add dimensionals at the ends.

Now tie the ribbon around the card and tie just to the left of the saying.  This ribbon is so great.  It makes a card.  I just found out that it will carry over to the new annual catalog coming soon!  Yea!

For the inside of the card stamp the saying from Hydrangea Haven.  Stamp the flower again and color it in just as on the front.

I think these sayings are ones you would use for a friend, don't you!

What do you think about keeping it clean and simple?  I'm not sure about that, but it is pretty simple if you just go step by step.

I sure hope that you will continue on our blog hop.  I can't wait to take it myself and see how everyone met the challenge.  I'm sure they will all be very different.  Next up is Frances.

This is SO pretty, Jo Anne! I love the Hydrangea set, I really need to pull it off the shelf and use it more!

Beautiful card JoAnne

Very pretty card JoAnne! I like the strip of DSP behind the white panel. It adds a highlight without being overpowering. Your hydrangea turned out beautiful with the colors you used.

Frances

I agree with Sue the dsp piece behind the hydrangea makes a quiet statement. I love hydrangeas and so glad it is not retiring.
