NC Blog Hop for January Sale-a-Bration
January 30, 2022
Welcome to the NC Blog Hop for January. You might have come from Tina's blog. Wow! Great project! If you are starting here, please travel around to everyone on the hop. We are celebrating all of the wonderful items available for Sale-a-Bration.
SAB is already half over. It ends the last day of February. With a purchase of $50 or $100 for a few, these items can come to you FREE! I'm featuring the stamp set Driving By. It is free with a $50 purchase.
Today I'll be building a background for the van from Driving By. This scene could be many places, but for me, we are taking a ride here in NC on the Blue Ridge Parkway. I will have a video at the end of this post. I presented this card in a FB Live on Saturday to the NC SU Demo group.
We start with a base of Thick Basic White measuring 4 1/4 x 11, score at 5 1/2. Cut off 3/4 of a inch from the front of the base.
Use a gray piece of patterned paper from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper cut to 1 inch by 4 1/4 inches. With a ruler or straight edge, make a dashed line with a Chalk Marker down the center. This becomes our road. Glue the strip to the bottom of the inside of the card.
Use the sky paper from the Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper for the sky. My piece was cut to 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 square. When glued it will still show some of the white base but we'll get to that later. Cut 2 clouds using the Majestic Mountain dies. Add to the top of the card front. Cut a sun using the Inspiring Canopy dies. Use the paper from the Sunshine & Rainbows Sale-a-Bration 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper. This is another free choice for you with a $50 purchase! Tuck the sun behind one of the clouds. Note: For the video I stamped a mountain background in Crumb Cake with the Mountain Air stamp set.
For the deciduous trees, (no leaves), use the wood look paper from In Good Taste or from Beauty of the Earth. For my sample I used In Good Taste, and for the card I made on the Live, I used Beauty of the Earth. Cut a piece to fit the cut outs. Line the back of the piece with Adhesive Sheets before cutting. I did run the piece through twice with my Cut & Emboss Machine. I'm not sure I really needed to do that.
For the evergreen trees, use the Majestic Mountain dies. I used green from Beauty of the Earth DSP. Line the back of this as well. Cut out four trees. I used both tree dies. I rolled back and forth through the Cut & Emboss Machine.
Add one evergreen tree to the card front toward the right of the card. In the video we added another tree cut shorter to the far right. Take the backing off the tree so that it becomes a sticker.
Now add the canopy of trees to the card. Cut the little bit of land off of the bottom. The trunks of the trees can rest in the white area that has been left. Pull off the backing. The trees will extend beyond the sides of the card. Just trim it even.
Now we add a layer of grass between the woods and the road. Use a 1 1/4 inch by 4 1/4 inch piece of green from Beauty of the Earth. Trim just a little across the top for the landscape. Glue in place. Add the two evergreen trees with the tiny trunk touching the bottom edge of the grass.
Finally the scene is set and we are ready for the van. Stamp on Basic White and on the Sunshine & Rainbows DSP with Memento Black. Color around the windows and the wheel covers, etc. with Dark Smoky Slate. Color in the windows and tires with Light Smoky Slate. Carefully cut out the patterned paper just outside the lines and glue the pieces to the van. Even cut the hubcaps from the designer paper. Cut out the van and add to the card with dimensionals. The bottom of the tires will extend below the card front. Be careful where you place the dimensionals.
Stamp the packages on the back of the patterned paper, cut out and add to the top of the van with dimensionals.
Not stamp the balloons on Basic White and again on the DSP. Cut out the balloon and glue to the white. Trim each separately and add with a mini dimensional on the balloon.
Stamp the saying on white, cut apart and add with small bits of dimensionals.
For the inside, add a saying from the Special Moments stamp sets. This one is a SAB choice with a $100 purchase. The tree inside is cut with the Beautiful Trees dies. Adhesive Sheets are used on the back.
Here is the video. Hopefully it will clear up any questions.
This card shows the stamped background and the next is a close up.
Please continue on the hop. Laurie is next. You are sure to love her project!
