Counting Sheep Bathroom Sign for Sagan

Family.  You may know that I've been sick but definitely on the mend.  My birthday was Saturday and my family came!  I was so excited.   It just seemed that I needed to touch each and every one starting with Sagan and Hazel the granddaughters and on to Jessie and her husband Robby and my son Jeff.  It was just so important that I see each of them.  We had a wonderful visit and the Greensboro crew spent the night!  It was a perfect birthday!

A while back Jessie asked if I could make a sign for Sagan for the bathroom door.  Our girl is growing up and using the potty now.  Sometimes she needs a little privacy just like the rest of us.  This sign should help her.  I had so much fun using the Counting Sheep stamp set and the Sheep dies!  These are only available until the end of September with our Sale-a-Bration offering.  I had so much fun dressing those sheep!  This sign is double sided and hangs from the door knob.  Here's a few pictures.

And here's the flip side.

This side has the whole family.

I started with 2 pieces of the Pool Party dots paper from the Pattern Party Host Designer Series Paper offering in the back of the Annual Catalog.  Each piece measures 6 x 8.

Our specialty designer series papers come with a thicker piece of cardboard in the packs.  I usually save these for 3D projects.  I cut 2 pieces of cardboard from one of these measuring just slightly smaller than my designer paper.  They were 5 7/8 x 7 7/8.  I probably could have added both sheets of designer paper to one piece of cardboard on each side.  Mine was really thick, but I do want it to last as long as possible.  It is made of paper you know!

For this side, cut a fence using the Sheep dies from Smoky Slate.  Now you'll need 2 more for the back so go ahead and cut 3 of them.  I did add some more color to the fence using my Smoky Slate pad and a Blending Brush.

I used a paper piecing technique for the sheep.  For this sheep, stamp on Basic White card stock.  You'll need to stamp again making sure that you stamp the leg that's in the middle of the sheep.  Stamp again on the pink leopard print paper from Pattern Party.  I used my Memento Black pad for all of the stamping.  Carefully cut out the pink cutting on the line or just on the outside.  Cut away the face and the legs.  Add glue sparingly and add to the sheep.  Now cut out the extra leg you stamped and glue it in place.  Color in the hooves with a Light Smoky Slate blend.  I added a little Light Petal Pink Blend just under the eye and soften with the Color Lifter.  Now cut out the entire sheep with the Sheep dies.  I use washy tape but be careful because it can pull up a little of the designer paper.  Ask me how I know to tell you this!

Use a glue dot to position the sheep to the fence and then turn it on the back and add dimensionals.  I also cut up some of the Foam Adhesive Sheets into strips for the fence.  I wanted everything to be covered with foam to make everything last longer.  Put in place.

For the sign I added some of the Adhesive Sheets to the back of my pink leopard print and then cut out all the letters with the Playful Alphabet dies.  Just add to a piece of 2 x 4 1/4 piece of the designer paper from the Peaceful Place Designer Series Paper.  Add a sheet of Basic Black card stock to frame.  It measures 2 1/8 x 4 3/8.  Now if I was doing this project again, I would cut an extra set of letters from Basic Black card stock (with Adhesive Sheet behind) and off set it behind my original letters to make them stand out a little bit more.  The entire sign is covered with a piece of the Foam Adhesive Sheet.

Use the balloon from the sheep dies and cut out in Basic Black.  Cut off most of the balloon part and add this to hold the sign.  Tuck the balloon part under the sign.

For the back I stamped 4 sheep on Basic White.  Look carefully and see if there is anything on the sheep you'll need to stamp again, cut out, and add to the sheep after dressed.  If so, go ahead and stamp another sheep (or part of sheep) to the white.  Stamp the sheep on the designer paper you wish to use.  I used paper from Pattern Party and also from the Peaceful Place Designer Series Paper.  Take your time cutting right on the line or just on the outside.  It will look great because you also have the lines from the original sheep.  It all comes together great!  Color the hooves and add a little color to the cheeks as on the other side.  The sun was cut using the Pattern Party DSP.  Add everything with lots of adhesives.  Again I used dimensionals and the Foam Adhesive Sheets to try to cover it all.  Place on the paper.

I used lots of glue, but added sparingly, to glue down each piece of designer paper.  The glue gives time to adjust your paper if needed.  Just do it quickly.

Go ahead and add the holes for the ribbon.  I used a retired Crop-A-Dile for my holes.  I made a pattern for the corner and used that on each corner so they are in the same position.  Add glue and glue the sides together.  I made a sandwich for drying time.

I put down the project, my gray embossing plate, and then my closed Cut & Emboss Machine on top and left it alone for a while.

Add ribbons.  I used the Just Jade gingham ribbon from the Flowers for Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack from the Annual Catalog.  I threaded the ribbon through and just tied it up above to allow room to put the sign on a door knob,  I also added ribbons at each hole because my Sagan loves a little fancy!

This was a fun project.  I've had some trouble concentrating lately and dressing those sheep really helped me I think.  So here's the best pic!
