One Stamp at a Time Blog Hop Mash Up

Welcome to the One Stamp at a Time Blog Hop for May.  Our theme is Mash Up.  What does that mean, you wonder.  Well, we are taking some of the old and some of the new from the Stampin' Up! catalog.  You know that some items retire each year, some are carried over, and some items are brand new.  We'll be showing you how to use these new products with some that you might already have!  Good idea, right!

May be an image of flower and text that says 'OSAT ONE STAMP AT A TIME BLOG HOP'

The card I have for you is a fun fold.  I have to thank Kurstan Del Rosario for the fold idea.  My project is filled with the new and some of the old.  I'll be mostly using products from the new Hand-Penned Suite.

OSAT Hand-Penned Card Project by Jo Anne Hewins

Let's get started.  The base of this card is Mint Macaron  measuring 4 1/4 x 10.  Score at 2 1/4 from each end.  Fold toward the center.

The ends that are folded up are covered by the Hand-Penned Designer Series Paper cut to 2 1/4 x 4 1/4.  If your paper has directionality, pay attention to that and place so that the paper goes in the same direction.  Glue down these pieces.  Use the zigzag die from the Basic Border dies to trim each end.  Look at the ends of the die to center them on the card stock.  Cut and then center the die again of the other end to match.

Now we will work on the layer.  It is cut from Mint Macaron card stock using the 3rd largest rectangle from the Scalloped Contours dies.

Wrap the white ribbon from the Flowers for Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack and tie into a bow.  If you place a glue dot under the first tie, the bow is easier to tie.  This ribbon group is carried over.  Yea!

Stamp the flower stem, using the Hand-Penned Petals stamp set, on Basic White in Memento Black ink.  Color this in using the Mint Macaron, Highland Heather, and Daffodil Delight Blends Combo packs.  Cut out using the Penned Flowers dies.  Add this to the card with dimensionals.  Add some Wink of Stella to the flower.  Of course the stamp set and dies can come as the Hand-Penned Petals bundle.

Add some of the Pearl Basic Jewels.  These are so classic.  I'm glad they are back!

Put Tear and Tape on the top fourth of the layer and add to the right of the card.  Make sure the tape is above the card stock because you want it to open.  So, it's here, just in case you noticed or not, that I tell you that I put my rectangle on the card upside down.  My designer paper is pointing down.  Hence the warning above!

Add a piece of Basic White to the inside of the card.  Cut this to 4 1/4 x 5 3/8.  Make sure that you can still bend the ends of the card in and the paper will lay straight.

Close the card and stamp the saying using Memento Black ink.  The stamp is from the A Good Man stamp set.  Yes, that set will be around for at least another year!  To make sure that the saying is in the right place, close the card to stamp.  An alternative would be to close the card and get the placement of the stamp and then transfer to the Stamparatus.  Make sure the stamp is straight and then stamp.  This way you can make sure that you have a good stamped image.

For my 3D item, I'm using a Mini Paper Pumpkin Box.  These are so versatile and back in the catalog!

OSAT Hand-Penned Paper Pumpkin Box by Jo Anne Hewins

Assemble the box.  Cut a piece of the designer paper that is 5 inches wide.  I added some Tear and Tape along one end, making sure the design would run in the right direction.  Tape on the front flap so that the paper is at the bottom of the flap.  Pull the paper around the box adding more Tear and Tape across at major bends.  Keep pulling around until the paper covers the entire bottom and come back to where it began.  Add tape along the bottom of the box there.  Trim away any extra designer paper.

Tie the same ribbon around the box and tie into a bow.

Cut a piece of Mint Macaron card stock just a little under 2 inches and a piece of the striped Hand-Penned Designer Series Paper the same.  Punch the top of each with the Delightful Tag Topper Punch (it's back!).  Glue the two pieces together.

Stamp the same flowers from the card again and color.  This time only color the stem and the largest flower.  Cut with the die and then cut away the smaller flower.  Add some Wink of Stella.

Determine how much space you will need for the flower to fit on the tag.  Then cut along the bottom of the tag with the zigzag die from the Basic Borders dies.

Add the flower to the tag with dimensionals.

The saying is again from the A Good Man stamp set.  Stamp and cut around the saying with snips.  Glue to the flower.

Add some more of the Pearls.

Add the tag with white twine.  This can some from the Snail Mail Twine Combo Pack from the January-June catalog or the new Baker's Twine Essentials Pack.
