NC Demo Blog Hop for May Something Old, Something New

Welcome to the NC Demo Blog Hop for May.  Of course we want to share items from our new annual catalog, but we want to share some of the new with some of the old.  I'm so glad you are here.  You might have come from Amy's blog or you might be starting here.  It doesn't matter.  Just be sure to visit all of us!

I feel like my pairing on old and new is a no brainer.  I'll be using the new Daisy Garden background stamp with the Daisy Lane stamp set.  We'll go over these two cards.

I've pulled in a few more supplies, too.

NC Demo Blog Hop for May Daisy Garden and Daisy Lane by Jo Anne Hewins

The first card begins with a base of Soft Succulent that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored and folded at 4 1/4.

The So Saffron card stock is cut to 4 x 5 1/4.

The designer paper is from the Bloom Where You're Planted Designer Series Paper.  It measures 3 7/8 x 5 1/8.

Line the stamp set up in the Stamparatus.  With a big set like this, I like to stamp the stamp on my Stamparatus grid paper.  This shows me where the stamp is and I can line up my paper to be just where I want it.  Secure with a tiny dab of Seal.  Touch it several times with your fingers to take away a little of the sticky.  You want to be able to pull up the paper without mishap.  Stamp in Memento Black.

Adhere all layers.

For the tag choose another of the designer papers from the same pack.  This one looks a little like white brick.  Cut the largest tag using the Tailor Made Tags dies.  Stamp the stem of the daisy from Daisy Lane in Memento Black.  Color in with the Dark Soft Succulent Blend.  I really think that the Light Soft Succulent Blend would look better.

Stamp two of the small daisy on Basic White.  Use Memento Black.  Punch out with the Medium Daisy Punch.  Curl the petals of the daisies with your Bone Folder.  Curl one up and one down.  Glue the center of the curled down on top of the one curled up.  Add the daisy to the tag with a dimensional.  Fluff up a little.

Add the tag to the card front with dimensionals.

Color some of the White Crinkled Seam Binding with the Dark So Saffron Blend.  Tie into a bow and add with a glue dot.

Stamp the word FRIEND in So Saffron on a white scrap and trim around it.  Add with dimensionals.

For my second card, begin with a base of Thick Basic White 4 1/4 x 11.  Score and fold at 5 1/2.

The black dotted paper is from the Pattern Party Designer Series Paper.  It is offered at the back of the catalog in the Host Rewards section.  Cut this to 4 x 5 1/4.

Add the paper to the Stamparatus and stamp, this time with Versamark.  First rub over the paper with an Embossing Buddy (no longer sold by SU) or a used dryer sheet.  Cover with white emboss powder and melt with the Heat Tool.  Stampin' Up! has changed how embossing powders can be purchased.  The Basics Pack comes with White, Black, and Clear.

Add the layer to the base of the card.

Stamp the saying from Tasteful Touches on white with Versamark.  Add black embossing powder and heat.  Cut this out with the Meadow dies.  Tie around using white twine from the Baker's Twine Essentials Pack.

Here is an inside for the cards.  For the second card I did use a saying from the Tasteful Touches stamp set.

I think the old and the new work quite well with these cards.  It's like they were made for each other!  LOL!

The background stamps make easy cards that look way harder.  Using the Stamparatus makes sure you have great images since you can stamp it again if needed.

Thanks so much for going on the hop.  You are ready to hop right on over to Toni's blog.  I know you'll find lots of inspiration!  It's always fun to spice up your collection with a few new items!  They'll work great together!
