NC Demo Blog Hop for May Something Old, Something New

Welcome to the NC Demo Blog Hop for May.  Of course we want to share items from our new annual catalog, but we want to share some of the new with some of the old.  I'm so glad you are here.  You might have come from Amy's blog or you might be starting here.  It doesn't matter.  Just be sure to visit all of us!

Join us blog

I feel like my pairing on old and new is a no brainer.  I'll be using the new Daisy Garden background stamp with the Daisy Lane stamp set.  We'll go over these two cards.

NC Demo Blog Hop for May Daisy Garden Cards by Jo Anne Hewins

I've pulled in a few more supplies, too.

NC Demo Blog Hop for May Daisy Garden and Daisy Lane by Jo Anne Hewins

The first card begins with a base of Soft Succulent that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored and folded at 4 1/4.

The So Saffron card stock is cut to 4 x 5 1/4.

The designer paper is from the Bloom Where You're Planted Designer Series Paper.  It measures 3 7/8 x 5 1/8.

Line the stamp set up in the Stamparatus.  With a big set like this, I like to stamp the stamp on my Stamparatus grid paper.  This shows me where the stamp is and I can line up my paper to be just where I want it.  Secure with a tiny dab of Seal.  Touch it several times with your fingers to take away a little of the sticky.  You want to be able to pull up the paper without mishap.  Stamp in Memento Black.

Adhere all layers.

NC Demo Blog Hop for May Daisy Garden and Daisy Lane Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

For the tag choose another of the designer papers from the same pack.  This one looks a little like white brick.  Cut the largest tag using the Tailor Made Tags dies.  Stamp the stem of the daisy from Daisy Lane in Memento Black.  Color in with the Dark Soft Succulent Blend.  I really think that the Light Soft Succulent Blend would look better.

Stamp two of the small daisy on Basic White.  Use Memento Black.  Punch out with the Medium Daisy Punch.  Curl the petals of the daisies with your Bone Folder.  Curl one up and one down.  Glue the center of the curled down on top of the one curled up.  Add the daisy to the tag with a dimensional.  Fluff up a little.

Add the tag to the card front with dimensionals.

Color some of the White Crinkled Seam Binding with the Dark So Saffron Blend.  Tie into a bow and add with a glue dot.

Stamp the word FRIEND in So Saffron on a white scrap and trim around it.  Add with dimensionals.

NC Demo Blog Hop for May Daisy Garden and Tasteful Touches Project by Jo Anne Hewins

For my second card, begin with a base of Thick Basic White 4 1/4 x 11.  Score and fold at 5 1/2.

The black dotted paper is from the Pattern Party Designer Series Paper.  It is offered at the back of the catalog in the Host Rewards section.  Cut this to 4 x 5 1/4.

Add the paper to the Stamparatus and stamp, this time with Versamark.  First rub over the paper with an Embossing Buddy (no longer sold by SU) or a used dryer sheet.  Cover with white emboss powder and melt with the Heat Tool.  Stampin' Up! has changed how embossing powders can be purchased.  The Basics Pack comes with White, Black, and Clear.

Add the layer to the base of the card.

NC Demo Blog Hop for May Daisy Garden and Tasteful Touches Card by Jo Anne Hewins

Stamp the saying from Tasteful Touches on white with Versamark.  Add black embossing powder and heat.  Cut this out with the Meadow dies.  Tie around using white twine from the Baker's Twine Essentials Pack.

NC Demo Blog Hop for May Inside of Card by Jo Anne Hewins

Here is an inside for the cards.  For the second card I did use a saying from the Tasteful Touches stamp set.

NC Demo Blog Hop for may Daisy Garden Duo by Jo Anne Hewins

I think the old and the new work quite well with these cards.  It's like they were made for each other!  LOL!

The background stamps make easy cards that look way harder.  Using the Stamparatus makes sure you have great images since you can stamp it again if needed.

Thanks so much for going on the hop.  You are ready to hop right on over to Toni's blog.  I know you'll find lots of inspiration!  It's always fun to spice up your collection with a few new items!  They'll work great together!

Specialty Paper: Gold Foil 3” x 2-1/2”, 3” x 1/2"

DSP: Hand-Penned 5” x 3”

Instructions:

Score and fold the card base in half as you would if you were making a normal card.

Glue the DSP to the center of the front of the card leaving about 1/4” on both sides.

Make your own DSP by randomly stamping images on the 4” x 3-1/2” piece of Basic White, then cut the piece into strips 1-1/4” on each side with 1-1/2” in the center. Glue over the DSP leaving 1/4" space between pieces.

Using the Forever Flourishing Dies, die cut the images from the different colored Cardstocks and Gold Foil.

Using the smallest rectangle from the Stitched Rectangle Dies, die cut out of the Polished Pink 2” x 1-1/2” piece.

Arrange all the die cut leaves and flowers to your liking and then add adhesive to the back of the Polished Pink stitched rectangle and adhere all the die cut pieces.

Use your paper snips to flag the ends of the 3” x 1/2" piece of Gold Fold, then glue over the Polished Pink rectangle.

Using the Evening Evergreen ink stamp the sentiment on to the piece 2-1/4” x 1-3/4” of Basic White, then die cut using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. Glue centered over the Polished Pink rectangle and Gold Fold.

For the inside of the card, stamp the sentiment with Evening Evergreen ink onto the Basic White card stock.

Expressions in Ink Specialty Designer Series Paper

Stampin' Up! has really upped the bar with the Expressions in Ink Specialty Designer Series Paper.  It is gorgeous!  First, let me welcome you to the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #665.  This week we have a sketch.

CCMC665

Here is my card using that Expressions in Ink paper.

CCMC#665 Expression in Ink by Jo Anne Hewins

The designer paper definitely is the spotlight for this card.  I love the colors and the gold highlights.

Start with a base of Thick Basic White that is 4 1/4 x 11.  Score and fold at 5 1/2.

Cut the green piece of designer paper to 2 1/2 x 5.  At the bottom of this piece, stamp the HAPPY from the Biggest Wish stamp set in Versamark.  Cover with Gold Embossing Powder and melt with the Heat Tool.  The birthday is from the A Wish for Everything stamp set.  This is also heat set with gold embossing.  Trim around the word and add to the lower corner of the large HAPPY word.  Glue to the card front.

The pretty flowered designer paper to cut to 3 1/4 x 3 1/4.  Add in the center of the card and toward the top.

Now add the 3/8 in strip across the lower part of the flowered square.  It is 4 inches long.

CCMC#665 Expression in Ink Card by Jo Anne Hewins

This card is just so simple and that's all you need with the Expressions in Ink Designer Series Paper!

Facebook Live 5.26.2021 Plentiful Plants

Thanks for joining me today.  For my Facebook Live, I used the Plentiful Plants bundle with the Perfect Plants dies.  I don't know about you, but I am a lover of plants.  Watering them might be a different story.  These plants need no water to look perfect.  Here are the cards we made.

Facebook Live 5.26.2021 Plentiful Plants by Jo Anne Hewins

I'll give you a few details for each card and then the video.

Facebook Live 5.26.2021 Plentiful Plants with Macrame EF by Jo Anne Hewins

The card base is Thick Basic White 4 1/4 x 11, score and fold at 5 1/2.

Run through the Cut & Emboss machine with the Macrame 3D Embossing Folder.

Use the Bloom Where You're Planted Designer Series Paper for the pots and plants.  There are pages in the pack that cut right out with the Perfect Plants dies.  I did fussy cut the smallest plant.  Assemble using dimensionals and glue in the lower right corner.

The saying is on a half inch piece of Basic White stamped in Evening Evergreen.  Notch the end.

Facebook Live 5.26.2021 Plentiful Plants Brick Wall by Jo Anne Hewins

For the second card the base is Garden Green 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, score and fold at 4 1/4.

The Basic White layer is 3 3/4 x 5.  Cut the label from the center of this layer using the Tasteful Labels dies.

The dotted paper is from the Pattern Party Designer Series Paper.  It measures 3 5/8 x 4 7/8.  This paper is in the back of the catalog where you find the Host Rewards.

Add the white label to the center of the card.

Stamp all of the pieces for the plants of Basic White.  The pot is Cinnamon Cider, the dotty plants are Pool Party, the larger leaves are Garden Green, and the smaller leaves are Evening Evergreen.  Cut using the Perfect Plants dies.  Assemble and then add to the label with dimensionals.

Stamp the saying in Garden Green and trim.  Add to the card.

Add some of the Pool Party Artistry Bloom Adhesive-Backed Sequins.

Facebook Live 5.26.2021 Plentiful Plants Hanging Basket by Jo Anne Hewins

Card three was inspired by the card on page 80 with the brick paper from the Bloom Where You're Planted DSP.

Card base is Cinnamon Cider 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, score and fold at 4 1/4.

Cut brick paper to 4 1/4 x 4 7/8.  Cut at an angle so that the right side is 4 inches.  Add a liner of Soft Succulent at the top and bottom.  Add to the card.

Use the Perfect Plants dies to cut the white pot, Cinnamon Cider plant hanger,  Soft Succulent (2) and Evening Evergreen plants.  Assemble.  There are helpful hints on the video.  Add the plant with dimensionals.  Use a Matte Black Dot for a hanger.

Stamp the words in Evening Evergreen on white, fussy cut, and add to the card with dimensionals.

So here is the video.  Enjoy.  Please share if you know someone who might want to see it.  Thanks so much.

Measurements:

Thick Basic White

Card Base 4-1/4” x 11”, scored and folded to 4-1/4” x 5-1/2”

Basic White:

Layer 4” x 5-1/4”

Die Cut: 3” x 3-3/4”

Basic Black:

Sentiment: 1” x 3-1/4”

Instructions:

Trace the glass from Whiskey Business with your Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker. Huff on the stamp and stamp the Basic White piece to be die cut.

Ink the top of the pineapple from Timeless Tropical with Garden Green. Stamp the pineapple top at an angle coming out of the top of the glass. Using the Stamparatus makes this easier.

Color the glass with the Polished Pink Stampin’ Blends.

Stamp the sentiment in Versamark on Basic Black. Sprinkle with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and set with your Heat Tool.

Use the citrus twist stamp from Whiskey Business in a random pattern on the Basic White layer in Flirty Flamingo.

Use a Tasteful Labels Die to cut out the glass. Then use the banner die to cut the sentiment. Place the die around the sentiment. With the cutting plate not completely covering the die (since it doesn’t run the full length of the sentiment), run it through the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss to create a partial die cut. Move the die to the other end of the sentiment and place the cutting plate so that it does not reach the end of the die where you’ve already cut. Run it back through the machine.

Add Mini Glue Dots on the back of the Basic White layer in the middle of each long side. Then attach a 5” strip of Polished Pink Ribbon.

Adhere the layer to the card base with Dimensionals.

Adhere the die cut focal layer with Dimensionals.

Adhere the sentiment strip with Black Dimensionals.

Use your Take Your Pick to place Matte Black Dots.
