NC Demo Blog Hop for March 2021 Scene 2
March 28, 2021
Welcome to the NC Demo Blog Hop for March of 2021. I'm so glad you are going on the hop. You might have just come from Amy's blog or maybe you are starting here. Either way be sure to visit everyone on the hop. You'll get some great ideas.
Back in August we created cards with scenery. We decided to do a repeat of this for March. Stampin' Up! really does have a lot of stamps that lend themselves to scenery. I decided to use an unlikely source for the project Whale of a Time Designer Series Paper. Here's my card.
My scene is underwater! My card is made entirely of cut outs from the Whale of a Time DSP.
The card base is Thick Basic White measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored and folded at 4 1/4. To cover the front use one of the more solid blue papers. It's Pacific Point with some other flecks of color.
The three panels on the front are made using the Stitched Nested Labels dies. Use the sheet from the Whale of a Time that has waves. Cut the panels so that the waves appear to run across the card. Adhere with dimensionals. I wanted them to be close together with a little space. I started in the center of the card by using my Grid Paper as a guide and then added the two side panels. Tie a length of Linen Thread around the panel on the right and tie into a knot.
One of the sheets of the designer paper has large plants. I cut some of those out and pieced them around the panels on the end. This was a bit tricky but I do feel it was worth it.
From there all of the animals are cut from designer paper. I do love to fussy cut. Some were placed directly on the base of the card. Some are glued to the panels. It's important to place some that are hanging off the panels and some between the panels. You may need to add some dimensionals under the parts hanging off.
The saying here is from the Sweet Strawberry stamp set stamped in Pacific Point. Fussy cut around it.
For the inside of the card cut another panel from the Whale of a Time DSP using the Stitched Nested Labels. The saying is from the Hydrangea Haven stamp set. Cut out a few more animals and glue them.
I love how this card turned out. If you love to fussy cut, this is a project you might want to try. It will also use up some of your designer paper!
Thanks so much for joining me today. Please continue on the hop with the NC Demos. Next up is Tina. Can wait to see her project!

Thanks Toni. You make such nice comments. It was an interesting week. My daughter has had really high blood pressure and even had to go back to the hospital. The day after Hazel came home from being born, Sagan's day card called and said she had been exposed to Covid and they would close for 2 weeks. Sagan ended up spending the week with me. It was hard to quarantine a 3 year old from her baby sister. Sagan's test ended up negative. Thank goodness John and I had both our shots. Sagan is back home now.. That's probably more than you wanted to know.

What an adorable card Jo Anne! I just love it. I feel your pain over the school issues with the grand youngins. We have had the same here with ours. Seems our middle grandsons class has some issues. He seems to be the one who is always sent home. I will get my second shot tomorrow thank goodness.

Thanks Amy. At least we have hope that we'll return to a new normal soon.

Jo Anne - First - congratulations on the arrival of Hazel! She is beautiful, and so is Sagan!
Your card is brilliant and really made me smile. It is such a great design and makes me immediately think of going to the beach this summer and, hopefully, getting back to "normal"! I love the way that you used the die cuts and the way that the fussy cut pieces are added to your design. Everything works together so well! Just love it!
