Welcome to the NC Blog Hop for February! This month we are going to shake it all up! This is so exciting! I can't wait to see what everyone has in store. You might just be beginning or maybe you came from Tracie's blog. Either way, you are in for a treat!
I'll be using the Hey Chick bundle and the Hey Birthday Chick bundle. The dies with these bundles are fantastic. The offer for these bundles goes until June 30th. You'll love them. Click on the highlighted links to see them. Here's my card.
Those chickens are so much fun! You can't tell from the picture, but the chicken will wobble back and forth on the card. To give you the full effect I had to make a video for you. You'll see it at the end.
Start with a base of Early Espresso that measures 4 1/4 x 11, score and fold at 5 1/2.
The patterned paper is from the Brights 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper. Cut the Daffodil Delight layer to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8. If you are using 12 x 12 this would be a big waste of paper since you would not be able to cut but 4 backgrounds from a sheet instead of the regular 6. I don't mind the little bit of extra paper when using the 6 x 6 paper. Use the All Wired Up background stamp on this layer. I set it up on my Stamparatus. It's so much easier to stamp a background stamp with the Stamparatus! Add to the card front.
Cut 2 fences in early espresso using the Birthday Chick dies.
Cut 1 cornstalk and 3 leaves for corn in Garden Green using the Chick dies.
Cut 3 ears of corn from Mango Melody using the Brights 6 x 6.
Assemble the cornstalk and corn with its leaves. I know that there is a more technical way to say this but it escapes me. Please forgive!
Add the fence from each side. They won't quite meet in the middle but that will be covered up.
For the added layer, cut early espresso to 2 1/2 x 4 1/4. Cut Mango Melody paper to 2 3/8 x 4 1/8. Cut a strip of Garden Green to 1/4 inch to place along the bottom of this layer. The grass is cut using the Dandy Wishes dies. Cut two and glue to the ends of the layer. Turn the one on the right backwards so the grass points to the right.
Stamp saying from the Hey Chick stamp set in Early Espresso. In the video I forget to stamp this. Ideally I would put the saying on a Stamparatus so you could stamp more than once and get a good dark image.
Stamp the chick with the balloom (Hey Birthday Chick) on Thick Basic White. Color with Light Daffodil Delight, Light Real Red and Dark Mango Melody blends. Cut with the Birthday Chick dies. Stamp the balloon part of the stamp on a dotted piece of 6 x 6 Daffodil Delight. Fussy cut and add this over the balloon. This is called paper piecing.
I added a wobble to the back of the chick. Find them here. There is a spring with peel off taped ends. It's so easy! Place the chick so that it does not cover the saying.
Add this layer with dimensionals.
Here's the inside. The HAPPY BIRTHDAY is from the Birthday Chick dies. I used Mango Melody and Daffodil Delight ink pads with a Blender Brush to color.
Here's the video. Enjoy.
Next up is Sue. I know she has a great project. I appreciate your time today. Thanks for joining me.
