Free Tuesday Tutorial Joyful Holly

I hope you are enjoying these free tutorials each Tuesday and Friday.  I do.  It allows me to share the work of others as well as myself.  Often they use stamp sets that I don't have.  I love that I can still share cards with these sets.  That's the case today.  I didn't buy the Joyful Holly stamp set.  Somehow it escaped my notice.  But look at the beauty of this card.

Wow!  I know you want the details so here they are.  Notice that the front gold foil panel is the part of the card that opens.  So cute!

Joyful Holly

Supplies:

Stamp Set: Joyful Holly (153440)

Cardstock: Basic Black (121045); Whisper White (100730)

Ink: Memento Black (132708); Real Red (147084)

Tools & Accessories: Stitched Shapes Dies (152323); Brass Foil Sheets (153057); Gilded Gems (152478); Wonder of the Season Ribbon Combo Pack (153537); Evergreen Forest 3D Embossing Folder (153576) Stampin’ SEAL (152813); Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430); Mini Glue Dots (103683)

 

Measurements:

Card Base: Basic Black- 5 ½” x 4 ¼” panel, 2 ¾” x 8 ½” score at 4 ¼”

Cardstock #2: Whisper White- 5 ¼” x 4”, 2 ½” x 4”, approx. 2 ½” x 2 ½” for circle

Designer Paper: Brass Foil Sheets- 2 ½” x 4”

 

Instructions:

Stamp line art holly image in Memento Black ink on Whisper White layer 2 times (5 ¼” x 4” piece). Once in the top right and once on the bottom left. Then, stamp the fill-in image for the holly in Memento Black ink as well.

Stamp the berries on the holly using Real Red ink.

Attach that layer to the Basic Black card base (which is the 5 ½” x 4 ¼” layer) using Stampin’ SEAL.

The 2 ¾” x 8 ½” Basic Black piece will be scored and folded on the long side at 4 ¼”. Then, attach it in the middle of the holly layer using Stampin’ SEAL.

Emboss the Brass Foil Sheet using the Evergreen Forest 3D Embossing Folder. Attach that layer to the folded card front using Stampin’ SEAL.

Add a 2 ½” x 4” layer of Whisper White cardstock to the inside of the folded piece.

Stamp the sentiment in Real Red ink on the Whisper White scrap piece and die cut using the Stitched Shapes Dies.

Make a faux bow with the Wonder of the Season gold cord and attach it to the back of the sentiment with mini glue dots. Then, add Stampin’ Dimensionals to the circle and attach to the card front.

Lastly, add some Gilded Gems to the foil front of the card.

Flip Flap Coming Home Card

The Coming Home bundle (stamp set and Home Together dies) has fast become one of my favorites.  I've also wanted to try the flip flap or pull tab card for a long time.  Why not put the two together?  That's just what I did.

I love that little car so much.  The directions for this card are a little difficult, but I have a video for you.  I made this card on a Facebook Live for the NC Demo Facebook group and I'm sharing it with you today.

As you can see there are lots of layers for this card, so I'm going to give you all of the measurements and then you can just watch the video.

Card base:  Thick Whisper White 4 1/4 x 5 1/2

Mechanism:  Pool Party 2 x 6, score at 2, 2 1/2, punch long end with the Delightful Tag Topper Punch or other tag topper punch of your choice.

Next layers:  Pool Party 3 1/2 x 4 3/4, Trimming the Town DSP snow 3 3/8 x 4 5/8

Next set of layers:  Pool Party 2 7/8 x 3 7/8, Trimming the Town trees 2 3/4 x 2, Whisper White 1 3/4 x 2 3/4.

Next set of layers:  Misty Moonlight 2 x 3 7/8, Whisper White 1 7/8 x 3 3/4

Other supplies needed:  Coming Home bundle, Itty Bitty Christmas, Classic Label Punch, 2 Early Espresso trees cut from dies, wreath cut from Trimming the Town DSP (die for this), Real Red pad, Memento Black pad, scrap white for stamping trees and car and sayings, All the Trimmings Embellishments, Tear & Tape, Smoky Slate combo blends, Real Red combo blends, Pool Party combo blends, Soft Suede combo blends, dimensionals, glue, Snowflake Splendor ribbon.

Masking Techniques, Stampin' Up!, and a Facebook Live

Happy Saturday.  Today I want to share with you the cards I made in my Facebook Live.  We used a tried but true technique called masking.    Here are the 4 cards we made.  I'll add the Facebook Live at the end.

Masking Cards from 11.18

Masking is easy yet very effective.  Here is the first card we made.

I make a mask using a piece of card stock and the largest circle from the Layering Circles dies.  I used a Blender Brush to add Pool Party ink inside the circle.

Masking Winter Woods Card  by Jo Anne Hewins

Whisper White:  3 1/2 x 4 3/4

Early Espresso:  $ x 5 1/4

Base:  Pool Party 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, fold at 4 1/4.

Stamp set: Winter Woods, saying, Dove of Hope

Masking Dragonfly Garden by Jo Anne Hewins

This card uses the new Dragonfly Garden stamp set available to demos December 1 and everyone on January 5th.  Mark the areas lightly with a pencil that you plan to color.  Use sticky notes to line off each side.  Color with Blender Brushes.

Ink Colors:  Balmy Blue, Highland Heather, Pear Pizzazz

Stamp set:  Dragonfly Garden

Whisper White:  3 3/4 x 5

Balmy Blue:  3 7/8 x 5 1/8

Blackberry Bliss:  5 1/2 x 8 1/2, fold at 4 1/4

Masking Snow Wonder by Jo Anne Hewins

To get the trees behind the snowman, stamp the snowman first.  Stamp the snowman on a sticky note making sure to get part of him on the sticky.  Cut on the lines.  Place on top of the snowman and stamp the trees.

Ink:  Memento Black, Garden Green, Balmy Blue

Stamp set:  Snow Wonder

Blends:  Night of Navy Combo, Granny Apple Green combo, Real Red Combo, Pumpkin Pie Combo

Whisper White:  3 3/4 x 5

Night of Navy:  5 1/2 x 8 1/2, fold at 4 1/4

 

Masking Healing Hugs Card by Jo Anne Hewins

For this card a sticky note mask was made for the flower.  Stamp the bottom flower first.  Apply mask to flower, stamp second flower and leaves.  Add saying.

Free Friday Tutorial Tag Buffet

It's Friday again already and I have a free tutorial for you today using the Tag Buffet stamp set found on page 5 of the August-December Mini catalog.  It coordinates with the Tag Buffet Project Kit that makes 30 tags.  Here is the card.

Measurements:

Card Base: Shaded Spruces cut at 4-1/4 x 11 and score at 5-1/2.

Cardstock #2: Cherry Cobbler cut at 5-1/2 x 3-1/2.

Cardstock #3: Whisper White cut at 5-1/2 x 3. Plus, you will need a scrap piece for stamping and cutting.

Cardstock #4: Vellum cut at 1 x 3-1/2.

Shaded Spruce Ribbon: Approx. 14” long

 

Instructions:

Use Bone Folder to give card base a good crease at the 5-1/2 score.

Stamp image randomly on Whisper White in Memento Black ink. Color with blends.

Adhere stamped piece to Cherry Cobbler card stock leaving about a 1/4” border on each side.

Tie ribbon around these adhered pieces as shown then adhere to center card front.

Stamp sentiment in Versamark on vellum piece. Heat emboss in white. Let cool.

Turn embossed vellum to back side and lightly sponge Shaded Spruce ink all over the back. Let dry for a few minutes.

Stamp holly leaves in Memento Black ink, color with blends then fussy cut with Paper Snips. Set aside.

Adhere sentiment as shown using Glue Dots on each end. You will adhere holly leaves to cover the glue dot beneath the vellum.

Attach red rhinestones for holly berries; three on each pair of leaves.

Finish the inside of card as desired.

Flowering Blooms Bundle and Peony Garden Designer Series Paper

Welcome to the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge # 639.  Today we have a sketch.

I have another simple card today using the Flowering Blooms bundle and the Peony Garden Designer Series Paper.

CCMC #639 Flowering Blooms Project by Jo Anne Hewins

The card base is Thick Whisper White cut to 4 1/4 x 11, score and fold at 5 1/2.  Cut the Gray Granite piece of the Peony Garden Designer Series Paper the same size as the card front, 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  Glue to the front of the card.

The Petal Pink patterned paper is cut to 2 x 4 3/4.  Center from top to bottom, but add just a little to the right of the front.  

Stamp the flower from Flowering Blooms in Gray Granite ink on Whisper White.  Color in with the Petal Pink Combo and the Soft Sea Foam Combo of blends.  Cut out using the largest circle from the Layering Circles dies.  Now run it through the Die Cut & Emboss Machine using the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder.  Glue to the card in the center of the pink piece.

Stamp the saying from Flowering Blooms in Gray Granite ink on white.  Trim around it.  Cut a piece of Soft Sea Foam card stock 1/4 x 2 1/8.  Add to the card.  Add the saying with dimensionals.  Finish the card with some of the Elegant Faceted Gems.  So pretty!

The inside is all Flowering Blooms.  Stamp the saying and flower in Gray Granite.
