NC Blog Hop for October: One Stamp Set, Two Holidays

Welcome to the NC Demo Blog Hop for October.  One of the things I love about Stampin' Up! is the versatility of its products.  Our task for this month is to take a stamp set and use it for two different occasions.  I like that! You might have just come from Tracie's blog.  She always has beautiful projects!  Whether you are starting here or if I'm just part of your trek, I'm so glad you are here.  Warning!  This will be a long post.  Settle in!

I decided to use the Birds & Branches bundle with the stamp set and the Birds & More dies.  Keep in mind that my birds are literally "empty nesters."  They want to fill their nests and the holidays are the perfect reason why.  The grandbirds might even stop by for the holidays.  They would love a little holiday decor.  You know that Gramps and Grammie Bird are two really cool dudes, right!  It's all about the grandbirds.

So here is my card for Halloween using the Birds & Branches bundle and Banner Year.

NC Demo Blog Hop Birds & Branches Halloween Project by Jo Anne Hewins

Now, I never said this wasn't a little labor intensive, but it's all worth it.

The card base is Thick Whisper White 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored and folded at 4 1/4.  Cover the front with a piece of 4 1/2 x 5 1/2 Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper.  Use glue to give you a little tad of time to get it just right.

Cut a panel of Pool Party using the largest rectangle from the Stitched So Sweetly dies.

Stamp the nest in Soft Suede on Whisper White and cut out with the Birds & More dies.  Add to the center bottom of the blue panel with dimensionals.

Cut the branch from the dies in Early Espresso, Pumpkin Pie, and in Bumblebee.  Add the espresso branch to the nest.  I put a little glue behind the 4 tiny circles.  Now trim all of the pumpkin leaves and glue them directly to the espresso branch where they belong.  Trim the tiny circles of Bumblebee and glue where they belong.

Stamp the three pumpkins using the Pumpkin Pie ink and Whisper White card stock.  The faces are stamped in Memento Black.  These stamps are in the Banner Year stamp set.  For the stems, cut just the ends of the branch from Early Espresso, trim, and add to the pumpkins from the back.  Arrange in the nest and glue.

The two birds are stamped in Early Espresso ink.  Stamp the solid bird over this in Pool Party ink.  Cut using the Birds & More dies and add to the card.  The bird in the nest is added with dimensionals.

The saying is from Banner Year.  The stamp is actually one word on top of the other.  Just stamp it twice so that the words are side by side.  Fussy cut and add to the project with dimensionals.

Glue the whole panel to the card front.

Now, it's time for Gramps and Grammie Bird to decorate for Christmas.  Here's the card!

NC Demo Blog Hop Birds & Branches Christmas Card by Jo Anne Hewins

The measurements are the same for this card.  Just add another piece of plaid paper.  The Stitched So Sweetly rectangle is Crumb Cake.  Stamp the nest in Soft Suede and add with dimensionals as before.

For this card, stamp the two branches from Birds & Branches in Early Espresso on Whisper White.  Stamp the holly in Shaded Spruce and the berries in Cherry Cobbler.  These stamps are in Banner Year.  Fussy cut and add these just under the nest on each side.  I just used a few glue dots to hold them in place.

This time the birds are stamped in Early Espresso and the solid stamp that goes on top is inked in Crumb Cake.  Cut out the birds with dies and add them on dimensionals on each side of the nest.  The Santa hats are stamped in Cherry Cobbler and fussy cut.  They are also from Banner Year.

NC Demo Blog Hop Birds & Branches Christmas Close Up of Card by Jo Anne Hewins

The tree is stamped on Shaded Spruce card stock in Shaded Spruce.  Stamp the trunk again in Early Espresso on espresso card stock.  This stamp is in the Coming Home stamp set.  Cut out with the Home Together dies.  Piece in the trunk over the spruce.  Add the tree to the center of the nest with dimensionals.  Decorate with All the Trimmings Embellishments.

The wreath is from the Coming Home stamp set.  Stamp in Shaded Spruce on Whisper White.  Color it in with the Light Shaded Spruce blend and the Light Real Red blend.

The saying is from the Banner Year stamp set.  Stamp in Cherry Cobbler on a 1/2 inch white strip.  Use the Banners Pick a Punch for the ends.  Glue to the top of the card.

Gramps and Grammie Bird are ready for the grandbirds for Christmas!

NC Demo Blog Hop Birds & Branches Holiday Duo by Jo Anne Hewins

So which of the cards do you like best.  I do admit that I have a problem.  Sometimes I just don't know when to stop.  Gramps and Grammie Bird just might be on a roll.  Valentines will be here before we know it!

I thank you for your time today.  I know this was a long post.  If you got this far I really appreciate it!  Of course all of these supplies can be purchased from my online store!  Details below.

Next up is Tina.  You will love her projects.  You really do need to visit everyone on the hop.  I've said it before, NC has some very talented stampers!  See you next time.

Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper Paired with Copper Brushed Metallics

Today we have a sketch for the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge # 635.

CCMC635

I love this sketch!  Here is the card I designed using the Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper and the Copper Brushed Metallic card stock.

CCMC #635 Gilded Autumn by Jo Anne Hewins

With these materials and sketch, the card practically put itself together.  Start with a card base of Thick Very Vanilla that measures 4 1/4 x 11.  Score and fold at 5 1/2.

The first layer is cut to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2, the same measurement of the front of the card.  I love the Mint Macaron background paper with the outlined leaves in copper.  Gorgeous!  The next layer is the Brushed Metallic card stock in copper that measures 3 1/4 x 4 1/2.  Run this through the Evergreen Forest 3D Embossing Folder.  Super gorgeous!  It just makes my heart leap!  The striped paper is cut 1/2 x 4.  It comes from the Gilded Autumn Specialty paper.  Add this strip so that it will stick out from the brushed copper.  The brushed copper butts up to the right side of the card in the center.

CCMC #635 Gilded Autumn Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

For the label, cut from Mint Macaron card stock using the Stitched Nested Labels dies.  I wanted some shine for the words so the Stamparatus came to the rescue.

Adhere the saying, from Gather Together, to the Stamparatus.  Stamp on the label so that the saying is in the center in Early Espresso.  Now clean the stamp and ink it with Versamark.  Now cover with clear embossing powder and melt with the Heat Tool.  It's really prettier than this picture shows!  Add the label with dimensionals.

CCMC #635 Gilded Autumn Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

For the inside, the saying is Gather Together.  Stamp it in Early Espresso ink.  Add the leaf print along the bottom, 1 x 4 1/4.  Add a thin strip of the stripe paper.  Mine is tucked just under the leaf print.  It's cut at 1/2 x 4 1/4.

I think this card is so elegant.  What do you think?  I'm so glad you choose to spend a little time with me today.  I know your time is precious and I appreciate it.  If you need a demonstrator, I would love to help you.  Need catalogs?  Just let me know!

Spent $50 with me and I'll email you 5 free card tutorials!

Dove of Hope Catalog CASE

Hello to you!  I have been loving the August-December catalog!  I love all of the samples in there.  What an inspiration they are!  The sample on page 72 showing the Dove of Hope bundle really caught my eye.  If you haven't already noticed this section in the back, all of the bundles are highlighted again.  All of them have different samples from what is shown earlier with the bundles.  I love that too!  Here is my version of this card.

Dove of Hope by Jo Anne Hewins

Mine is a little bit of a fun fold.

Start with a card base of Crumb Cake that is 4 1/4 x 11, score and fold at 5 1/2.  Cut off 1 1/2 inches from the front of the card.

The Cherry Cobbler check paper is from the 'Tis the Season 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper.  It is cut to 4 x 4 1/4.  This will fit the front panel of the card.  Make sure you have the orientation of the card correct.  The paper does not have a specific way it needs to go but the measurements do.

The wood look paper is from the Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper.  It is cut to 1 3/4 x 4 1/4.  It fits on the inside of the card to the right.  It does show since we cut away part of the card front.  If you are cutting for multiples of cards you might want to adjust the measurement to 1 3/4 x 4.  You'll get more from a sheet of designer paper.

From the Detailed Dove dies, cut 2 of the long stems, one in Old Olive and the other in Mossy Meadow.  Hint:  You might want to put Adhesive sheets on the back of the card stock before cutting.  This turns the stems into stickers.  It's so much easier to adhere.  Cut the dove and one wing from Whisper White.

Punch 2 sprigs of Soft Suede using the Sprig Punch.

Dove of Hope Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

To assemble, add the long stems on the lower third of the front.  Offset them.  Add the Soft Suede sprigs to the center behind where you want the dove to be.  I just used glue dots for this at the end leaving the rest of the sprigs free.

With a sponge dauber, add a little Soft Suede ink to the tail feathers and wing.  I might have gotten a little heavy handed with the color.  Remember that you can always add more color but you can't take it away.  Do as I say, not as I do!  Add a scrap of Basic Black behind the eye.  Add the wing to the dove and then add it to the card front.

Stamp the saying for the card in Soft Suede on Whisper White.  This is from the Dove of Hope stamp set.  Cut out with the Tasteful Labels dies.  When you adhere this remember that part of the saying extends over the edge of the card front.  Don't put glue on that part!

Dove of Hope Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

For the inside of the card, use a piece of Whisper White cut to 3 1/2 x 4.  Stamp the saying in Soft Suede from Dove of Hope.  Add an Old Olive sprig at the bottom.  Again, I would think about using the Adhesive Sheets for this!

Dove of Hope Card by Jo Anne Hewins

I really do love this card.  I know, I'm doing a lot of loving today.  That's OK.  The world needs it!

Thanks for your time.  If you need supplies, some words are linked to my online store and the list of supplies at the end also goes to my store.  You don't know how much it would mean to me!  You really don't!  Don't forget about the Designer Series Paper sale!  'Tis the Season and Poinsettia Place are 15% off through the end of October.  Time is running out!

Have a wonderful day and I hope you stamp!

New! Free Tuesday Tutorial Ornamental Envelopes

I'm going to try to add in Free Tuesday Tutorials.  Let me know what you think about that.  I belong to a group of demonstrators that share tutorials with each other.  You should benefit!  I didn't make this card using the Ornamental Envelopes bundle.  I do know that you are going to love it!

Tutorial medley ornamental envelopes

I love this card!  Here are all the details.

Ornamental Envelopes

Supplies:

Stamp Sets: Ornamental Envelopes (153434)

Wrapped in Christmas (153481)

Cardstock: Very Vanilla Thick (144237), Very Vanilla (101650), Gold Foil Sheets (132622)

Ink: Versamark Pad (102283), Night of Navy (147110), Mossy Meadow (147111)

Tools & Accessories: Stamparatus (146276), Envelopes Dies (153531), Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder (102129), Heat Tool (129053), Gilded Gems (152478), Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430)

Designer Series Paper: Brightly Gleaming DSP (150429)

Measurements:

Very Vanilla Thick card base: 4 1/4” x 11”, scored at 5 1/2”

Very Vanilla Cardstock: 4 1/4” x 5 1/2”

Designer Series Paper: 4 1/4” x 2”

Gold Foil: 2 3/8” x 5/8”

Instructions:

Place Vanilla Cardstock in the Stamparatus and position the stamp with the ornaments to the far right of the cardstock. Stamp with Versamark and heat emboss with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

Fold Very Vanilla card base back on itself so that it is ‘inside out’, and place in Stamparatus with the fold on the left. Repeat the stamping and embossing that was done on the first piece of Vanilla Cardstock. Remove from Stamparatus and fold back so that the embossing is on the inside.

Using Mossy Meadow ink, stamp the greenery above the ornaments on both pieces of cardstock.

Stamp the inside sentiment with Night of Navy Ink.

Attach the card front to the card base temporarily, and die cut the ornaments using the Envelopes dies. Be sure to have the card open in the die cutting machine so you only cut through the card front. You may need to run it back and forth a few times to cut through the two layers.

Set aside the ornaments from the card front and save for another project.

Remove the card front from the base, and trim two pieces from the left side of the card front; one 1” wide and the second 3/4” wide. Put aside the 3/4” strip to use for the sentiment.

Attach the strip of Designer Series Paper to the card front, about 1/2” from the left.

Attach the two pieces of vanilla card stock to the card front with Dimensionals; the 1” strip lined up on the left against the fold of the card base, and the die cut piece lined up with the die cut ornaments on the card front.

Stamp the front sentiment on to the 3/4” Very Vanilla strip and trim to 2 1/4” x 1/2”. Attach to Gold Foil strip and then to the card front with Dimensionals.

Decorate the card front with Gilded Gems.
