Boho Indigo Product Medley Scrappy Strips

Do you love blues and vanilla?  Do you love little prints?  When I see little prints, it reminds me of my grandmother Mama Blackwell.  She was a sweet white haired lady who loved to sew.  She liked little prints with flowers.  When I look at the designer papers from the Boho Indigo paper stack, I see Mama Blackwell.  She would want to make a dress with these prints!  She might even use several of them.

My card uses the beautiful Boho Indigo Designer Series Paper from the Boho Indigo Product Medley.  It's found on page 9 of the Annual Catalog.  I used the scrappy strips technique.

Boho Indigo Scrappy Strips Card by Jo Anne Hewins

Do you see what I'm saying about this paper!  My base is Night of Navy that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.

The Very Vanilla layer is 3 7/8 x 5 1/8.

Next is a layer of Misty Moonlight that measures 3 3/4 x 5.  I had left over strips from making other cards and I thought this would be a great way to use some of them.  They'll need to be about 4 1/2 inches long.  They will hang off the side, but that's fine.  Cut one side at an angle.  Alternate putting the wider end and then the thinner end as you fill up each row.  Leave just a little of the Misty Moonlight card stock showing between rows.  Trim the sides when you finish.

Add a piece of designer paper along the left side.  It measures 1 x 5.

Add a length of the gold ribbon, included in the medley, along the seam and tape to the back.

The gold decorated tag is part of the product medley.  Stamp the saying in Night of Navy ink.  Did I tell you that the kit contains the Boho Indigo stamp set and the Boho Indigo coordinating dies?  Yes, it does!

Add the tag with dimensionals.  Add a loop of the gold ribbon with glue dots.  Use the Linen Thread to make another bow and add with a rolled up glue dot.

Use Pear Pizzazz, Soft Sea Foam, and Mossy Meadow to cut 2 leaves of each design.  Add to the top and bottom of the label with glue and dimensionals.

Add three flowers with glue dots.  The flowers are part of the kit.

Here's the inside of the card.  The saying is from the Happiest of Birthdays stamp set.  Add a leaf stem cut out.

So, you might have noticed that I love this medley!  I love it so much that I made a class that I would love to share with you.

I'm sharing a card using the Joseph's coat technique.  This is an old technique that has come back.  The good ones always do!  Here is my card.

Joseph's Coat Technique with Forever Fern Card by Jo Anne Hewins

I have a video for this card so if the directions are a little fuzzy, hopefully the video will clear it all up.  I'll share it a little later.

The card base is Granny Apple Green that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Score this at 3 1/4 and 4 1/4.  Fold the card at 4 1/4 and then fold back at 3 1/4.  Glue down the 1 inch area next to the fold.  This is just a little added something that makes the card seem like a fun fold.  I'm using the Forever Fern stamp set.  To get the leaves stamped on the base of the card, use the Stamparatus and Versamark.  Mark off a area on the Stamparatus for the card base.  Line up all of the leaves from Forever Fern over the base close together.  This will not cover the entire surface of the base.  Stamp with the Versamark.  Turn the base around and stamp the bottom of it.  You'll have to position the base where you need it to complete stamping.  You will not need all of the stamps.

Take a piece of Whisper White measuring 3 3/4 x 5 for the next step.  I used Real Red, Mango Melody, Crushed Curry, and Granny Apple Green stamp pads.  Using a sponge dauber for each color the entire surface of this paper.  Color different spots or sections.  Color heavy  until all colors are covering the surface.  The video will be helpful here.

Joseph's Coat Technique with Forever Fern Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

Stamp the leaves, on the Stamparatus, over this layer in Versamark.  Cover in Clear Embossing Powder, and heat with the Heat Tool.  Once done, cover the entire surface with Early Espresso ink.  I simply ran the surface of the pad over the layer.  The ink will resist over the embossing.  Take a paper towel and rub over the surface.  This will remove any ink over the embossing and brighten up those areas.  Isn't it pretty!  Trim this layer down to 2 1/2 x 4 1/2.  The purpose of trimming this is so that you can choose the area you like best for the card.  You can also trim a piece to put on the inside of the card.  Add to a piece of Mango Melody that is 2 5/8 x 4 5/8.  Glue to the card front.

Did you notice that the saying is embossed?  We don't have Early Espresso embossing powder, so how did that happen.  Again, the Stamparatus is our friend.  Line the saying, from Forever Fern up on the Stamparatus.  Stamp the saying on a square of Mango Melody using Early Espresso.  Clean the stamp well.  Stamp again using Versamark.  Add clear embossing powder and heat with the Heat Tool.  Cut out with the Layering Circles dies.  Add to the card with dimensionals.

Tie a length of the Faux Suede Ribbon around the side of the card (glued area) and tie in a knot. Joseph's Coat Technique with Forever Fern Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

For the inside of the card, cut a piece of Whisper White 3 x 5 1/4.  Add a piece of the leftover front piece to the inside bottom.

Joseph's Coat Technique with Forever Fern Project by Jo Anne Hewins

So, here is the video.  I hope you find it helpful.

Thanks for joining me today.  Next up is Toni.  You need to head straight there!

Friday Tutorial Gnome for the Holidays

I used to be a collector of gnomes.  Have you ever heard of Tom Clark?  He's a local to North Carolina sculptor.  At one time he was super popular in the world of gnomes.  I still have many of his works, but I'm not so much a collector anymore.  In fact, I wouldn't mine turning a few of these loose.  The tutorial from the Tutorial Medley group that I have for you today uses the stamp set Gnome for the Holidays.  This is not a set that I purchased, so I'm happy to share this sample with you today.

Snowflake Wishes and the Trimming the Town DSP

Welcome to the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #631.  Today we have a sketch.

CCMC631

Here is the card that I made using the Snowflake Wishes bundle.

CCMC #631 Snowflake Wishes Bundle Card by Jo Anne Hewins

This is a simple sketch, but isn't the card cute!

The base is Thick Whisper White 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored and folded at 4 1/4.

This card uses the Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper.  The blue stripe is cut to fit the front of the base.  Cut at 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  Glue this down.  The Multipurpose Liquid Glue will allow you a little give to position the paper just right.

The next layer is the Real Red swirly paper.  It is cut to 3 x 4 1/4.

The blue stripe is cut again in a different direction to 1/2 x 4 1/4.

The green paper measures 3/4 x 3 1/8.

Finally the snowflake paper is 2 x 2 1/2.

Cut the snowflakes using the So Many Snowflakes dies.  Add part of an Adhesive Sheet to the back of Whisper White cardstock.  Cut 1 larger and 2 smaller snowflakes.  Add the large one to the center of the snowflake paper.  Add the other 2 to each side.  These will go off the side.  The Adhesive Sheet turns the snowflakes into stickers.

The saying is from the Snowflake Wishes stamp set.  Stamp in Misty Moonlight ink and fussy cut around the words.  Glue.

CCMC#631 Snowflake Wishes Bundle Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

This is the inside of the card.  The saying is from Snowflake Wishes stamped in Misty Moonlight.  Stamp the snowflakes in Misty Moonlight and some in stamped off ink.
