NC Demo Blog Hop for August - Scenery

Welcome to the NC Blog Hop for August.  Our theme this month is scenery.  Stampin' Up! does have lots of stamp sets and die sets that lend themselves to scenery.  You might have come from Tina's blog or you might be just beginning.  Either way, you will love this hop!  Don't miss any of them!

Join us blog

My project for today uses several different stamp sets and die sets.  Our selection at Stampin' Up! is awesome.  They coordinate so well together.  I just love that.  I love pulling in a little something from different places.  Here is my card.

NC Demo Blog Hop for August Scenery Card by Jo Anne Hewins

Sometimes the creative process just comes together.  This card is just how I saw it in my head.  I think it worked out well.

The card base is Old Olive that measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  The next layer is Early Espresso cut to 4 x 5 1/4.  The designer paper layer comes from the Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper.  I wanted just a thin border so this measures 3 7/8 x 5 1/8.  I love this patterned paper.  I cut a Celebration Labels die from the center of this paper to use on another card.  No one will ever see the hole behind the paper.  I cut the label that was one size smaller than the front label.  Adhere all these layers together and set aside.

The front layer is cut from Whisper White card stock.  Use the third largest label from the Celebration Labels dies.  Color the top half of this label, maybe a little less, with a Light Pool Party Blend.

Using Mossy Meadow ink, stamp the evergreen tree cluster from Snow Front on the upper right hand side of the label.  This is stamped right over the Pool Party blend.

Stamp 2 of the tree clusters outline stamps from In the Pines on Whisper White.  Stamp in Mossy Meadow.  Stamp the more solid stamp over these trees.  Stamp off Old Olive ink for this.  Stamp the large tree in the same way.  For this tree, add in a tree trunk of Early Espresso.

Let's cut with dies!  Using the Pine Woods dies (from the In the Pines bundle), cut out the 2 tree clusters and the large tree.  Cut a Gold Foil star using the Stitched Stars dies.  Cut the church from Gray Granite card stock using the Snow Globe diesUsing Gold Foil scraps, fill in the windows of the church from the back.  Add the two church pieces together with dimensionals.

NC Demo Blog Hop for August Scenery Panel by Jo Anne Hewins

Let's put it all together!  Stamp the deer, Snow Front stamp set,  near the bottom of the card.  You can go ahead and stamp the saying.  It's from the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set.  In the video, coming up, I put the saying on last.  That's probably not a good idea.  Do the stamping before you add all the other stuff.  Yes, do as I say not as I do!

Glue down one of the tree clusters to the upper right.  Let some of the stamped images show.  Now add the large tree at the other side.  Add with dimensionals.  For the last cluster of trees, trim off the tree all the way to the left.  Add the cluster with dimensionals tucking behind the big tree.  Take the tree you trimmed off and glue it behind and between the big tree and the cluster.

Glue the church and the star on the card.

NC Demo Blog Hop for August Scenery Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

Here's the inside of the card.  The saying is from the Merry Moose stamp set.  The trees are from the In the Pines bundle.  Stamp and cut two of them and glue inside the card.

I hope you find this video helpful.

Thanks so much for joining me today.  Frances is next.  She'll have a great project for you.  You are going to want to complete the entire hop.  NC has great stampers!

Happiest of Birthdays and Whale Done

Today I have a card for you using the Happiest of Birthdays and Whale Done.  We'll be using the Stamparatus to help us with this one.  Here's a picture.

Seabed Happiest of Birthdays by Jo Anne Hewins

Begin this card with a card base of Bermuda Bay that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2.  Fold at 4 1/4.

Run a 4 x 5 1/4 piece of Coastal Cabana through the new Stampin' Up! Cut & Emboss machine using the Seabed 3D Embossing Folder.  This folder is so pretty.  There's so much detail.  Make that detail pop by sponging this layer with Bermuda Bay ink.  You don't need to sponge the very center because it will be covered up.

The Whisper White layer is cut using the largest scalloped rectangle from the Stitched So Sweetly dies.

Seabed Happiest of Birthdays Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

We are going to stamp the largest birthday saying from the Happiest of Birthdays stamp set.  I set this up on my Stamparatus so that the saying would be right in the middle of my die cut rectangle.  Use the Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, and Night of Navy Stampin' Write markers to color directly on the stamp.  I'll have a video to show you how to do this.  Start with the lightest color, Coastal Cabana, and color with the bigger point.  I caution against using the point of the marker, but more the side of it.  Color in about 1/3 of the saying and stamp.  Color and stamp again if needed.  Clean the stamp.  Now, using the Bermuda Bay color in the middle of the stamp.  Repeat if needed.  Make sure that all the letters have stamped.  Clean.  Now repeat this whole process with the Night of Navy stamp set.  You have a beautiful ombre effect card.

Here's the video showing how to make this card.

Stamp off with the Coastal Cabana and stamp several of the jelly fish (I did 3) over the words.  Add the dots in Bermuda Bay.  Some are fully inked and some are stamped off.  Add this layer with dimensionals.  Cut a turtle from the Whale of a Time Designer Series Paper to add at the bottom of the layer.  Glue the top and add a dimensional to the bottom where it extends over the layer.  Add some Wink of Stella to give the turtle some glimmer and shine.

Seabed Happiest of Birthdays Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

Here is the inside of the card.  This saying is colored with the markers in the same way as the label on the front.  The jelly fish over the words is stamped off.  The other two are not stamped off.  Add more of the dots.

Life is Beautiful, Yes It Is!

Hello to you!  Today I have a pretty card using the Life is Beautiful stamp set.  I keep wanting to call it Tree of Life.  I keep my stamp sets in alphabetical order.  I couldn't find it because I was looking in the T's!  I think I'm going to remember the name now.  Any way here is my card using the Life is Beautiful stamp set.

Life is Beautiful Stitched Nested Labels Card by Jo Anne Hewins

The base of this card is Old Olive that measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and is folded at 4 1/4.

The next layer is a wood sheet from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper.  It is cut to 4 x 5 1/4.  Cut a label from the Tasteful Labels dies from the center of this layer and then glue the layer to the front of the card base.  I'm talking about the wood label that is behind the Thinking of You saying.

Cut the largest Stitched Nested Label die from Whisper White.

The tree is stamped using the Stamparatus.  I set up the tree so that I could stamp the label and the inside of the card.  I have a video showing how to make this card and set up the Stamparatus.  I first set it up so that I could stamp the tree.  I put the 5 x 5 1/4 Whisper White paper up next to the right of the Stamparatus and about 1 inch down.  Now figure out where the nested label needs to go so that it stamps where you want it.  I traced around this label on my grid paper.  I was using it for a class.  This would also work well if you plan on making multiples of this card.  Stamp in Early Espresso.

Life Is Beautiful Stitched Nested Labels Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

Here is the video.

Stamp the leaves on the trees in Old Olive and again in Mossy Meadow.  Clean between colors and move the stamp a little so they are not exactly the same on the card.  Do the label and the inside of the card.

Stamp the bird's nest in Early Espresso.  Clean the stamp and stamp on a scrap of Whisper White in Real Red.  Cut out the bird house only.  Add on top of the brown one with a dimensional.

For the ribbon, make a line of Seal about 1 inch long down the lower center of the label.  Add the ribbon.  This is from the Old Olive ribbon from the Ornate Garden Ribbon Combo Pack.  The seal will hold the ribbon in place.

Cut the label for the front of the card from Whisper White using the Tasteful Labels dies.  Stamp the saying in Real Red.  Take the wood label and cut it in half.  Add to the back of the white label so that it sticks out about the same from each side.  Add this label with dimensionals.

Add a few of the gold Metallic Pearls to finish the front of the card.

Life is Beautiful Stitched Nested Labels Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

The inside should be about done.  Add the HELLO in Real Red.
