NC Demo Blog Hop for August - Scenery
August 30, 2020
Welcome to the NC Blog Hop for August. Our theme this month is scenery. Stampin' Up! does have lots of stamp sets and die sets that lend themselves to scenery. You might have come from Tina's blog or you might be just beginning. Either way, you will love this hop! Don't miss any of them!
My project for today uses several different stamp sets and die sets. Our selection at Stampin' Up! is awesome. They coordinate so well together. I just love that. I love pulling in a little something from different places. Here is my card.
Sometimes the creative process just comes together. This card is just how I saw it in my head. I think it worked out well.
The card base is Old Olive that measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4. The next layer is Early Espresso cut to 4 x 5 1/4. The designer paper layer comes from the Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper. I wanted just a thin border so this measures 3 7/8 x 5 1/8. I love this patterned paper. I cut a Celebration Labels die from the center of this paper to use on another card. No one will ever see the hole behind the paper. I cut the label that was one size smaller than the front label. Adhere all these layers together and set aside.
The front layer is cut from Whisper White card stock. Use the third largest label from the Celebration Labels dies. Color the top half of this label, maybe a little less, with a Light Pool Party Blend.
Using Mossy Meadow ink, stamp the evergreen tree cluster from Snow Front on the upper right hand side of the label. This is stamped right over the Pool Party blend.
Stamp 2 of the tree clusters outline stamps from In the Pines on Whisper White. Stamp in Mossy Meadow. Stamp the more solid stamp over these trees. Stamp off Old Olive ink for this. Stamp the large tree in the same way. For this tree, add in a tree trunk of Early Espresso.
Let's cut with dies! Using the Pine Woods dies (from the In the Pines bundle), cut out the 2 tree clusters and the large tree. Cut a Gold Foil star using the Stitched Stars dies. Cut the church from Gray Granite card stock using the Snow Globe dies. Using Gold Foil scraps, fill in the windows of the church from the back. Add the two church pieces together with dimensionals.
Let's put it all together! Stamp the deer, Snow Front stamp set, near the bottom of the card. You can go ahead and stamp the saying. It's from the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set. In the video, coming up, I put the saying on last. That's probably not a good idea. Do the stamping before you add all the other stuff. Yes, do as I say not as I do!
Glue down one of the tree clusters to the upper right. Let some of the stamped images show. Now add the large tree at the other side. Add with dimensionals. For the last cluster of trees, trim off the tree all the way to the left. Add the cluster with dimensionals tucking behind the big tree. Take the tree you trimmed off and glue it behind and between the big tree and the cluster.
Glue the church and the star on the card.
Here's the inside of the card. The saying is from the Merry Moose stamp set. The trees are from the In the Pines bundle. Stamp and cut two of them and glue inside the card.
I hope you find this video helpful.
Thanks so much for joining me today. Frances is next. She'll have a great project for you. You are going to want to complete the entire hop. NC has great stampers!
