NC Demo Blog Hop for July Celebrates Summer!

Welcome to the NC Demo Blog Hop for July.  We are in the midst of summer and that's what we are celebrating today.  Here in North Carolina that means mid to upper 90's and lots of humidity!  Usually there's an afternoon thunderstorm, too!  Our state is lucky to have the beaches and the mountains so there's plenty of places to escape from time to time.

I'm so glad that you are here.  You might have just come from Nedine's post.  I'm sure you loved her project.  If you are starting here, please be sure to visit everyone.  You'll have lots of summer inspiration.

Today I am completely out of my box.  If you know me, you know that I don't use the brights that often.  Get out your sunglasses to see this card!

NC Demo Blog Hop for July Summer Card by Jo Anne Hewins

Start with a card base of Thick Whisper White measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, score and fold at 4 1/4.

I used the Brights 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper for this card.  Oh yes, I did!  The background is Mango Melody.  It's cut to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 to cover the entire card front.  I like to add this layer with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  This allows just a few seconds of time to make sure everything is straight and get it moved in place.

The sun is made with several dies.  The center is cut from the Stitched Shapes dies.  I used the second largest one.  The rays of the sun are cut using the Stitched Triangles dies.  These are new to the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog this year.  I used the Daffodil Delight paper from the Brights DSP.  I used the largest triangle from the isosceles triangles.  You only need to cut about half of the triangle so just cut your paper a little shorter.  You will need 8 of these.  I love that all of the pieces for the sun are stitched!  I taped these pieces to the back of the sun until I was happy.  I did try to have the rays spaced so that they have a ray directly across.  That helped me get them pretty even around.  Glue the sun to the front of the card.  One ray did go off the side of the card and I just trimmed it.

NC Demo Blog Hop for July Summer Playful Alphabet by Jo Anne Hewins

The words SUMMER and YOU are cut from Melon Mambo from the Brights DSP.  I used the new Foam Adhesive Sheet to help with this.  I trimmed my Melon Mambo to one inch and the foam adhesive sheet to one inch.  Adhere the two.  Cut the letters from the Playful Alphabet dies.  You might need to run them through the die cutting machine a couple times.  Now just place the letters where you want them to go.  Peel off the backing and simply stick them down.  It's so easy!

The word DAYS is cut using the Well Written dies.  I had to piece together a little of it.  The DAY comes from the word BIRTHDAY.  Just trim the day part.  Now for the S, I used the word THANKS.  Just trim off the S from the end.  Before cutting these words out, add some of the new Adhesive Sheets (not foam) to the back of the Melon Mambo paper.  Now just peel the backing and add the DAY.  Trim just a little from the end of the Y so that you can add the S and it looks like it was there all along.  Place right in the middle of the sun.  It fits perfectly!

The word WITH is stamped using the Peaceful Moments stamp set.  Just stamp in Melon Mambo and Whisper White scraps and trim around it.  I added this with glue dots.

Finish the front with some of the sequins from the Artistry Blooms Sequins.

NC Demo Blog HOp for July Summer Inside of Card by Jo Anne Hewins

Here's the inside of the card.  The saying is from the Butterfly Wishes stamp set.  Doesn't it fit perfectly!  The cocktails are from the Nothing's Better Than stamp set.  Stamp the glasses in Memento Black.  Add the drink.  I stamped the inside in Daffodil Delight and then sponged on a little of the Pumpkin Pie ink directly on the stamp before stamping the paper.  Color the limes in Light and Dark Granny Apple Green and the umbrella in Dark Pumpkin Pie.  You simply must add a few more sequins inside the card.  I wonder now as I write this up why I didn't use Mango Melody on the inside instead of Pumpkin Pie.  Mmmm.  Well I won't tell if you don't.
