One Stamp at a Time for June Celebrating the New Catalog
June 11, 2020
Welcome to the One Stamp at a Time Blog Hop for June. We have a brand new catalog and we want to show it off! You are going to love all the ideas you'll get from this hop! Join in the fun!
I have a fancy fold card for you. I'm not sure what it is called. I'll just say a Reverse Z Fold Insert card. I have a video at the end of the post that might show you better how to make it. My card features the Birds and Branches bundle that contains the stamp set and the Birds & More dies.
The card base is a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 piece of Soft Suede card stock. Fold at 4 1/4. The first layer is Whisper White that measures 4 x 5 1/4. The patterned paper is from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper. It's cut to 3 7/8 x 5 1/8. Glue these layers to the card front just along the top. This is because we want to save the individual layers of circles that we'll be cutting out. For this card, we'll need the white circle.
Using the second largest circle from the Stitched Shapes dies, cut a circle from the center, or just a little above, of the front of the card. Be sure to send the card through your machine open. I had to past through a couple time since we are cutting through 3 layers of paper.
After cutting the circles out, go ahead and glue down the layers on the front the rest of the way.
The inside of the card is Whisper White that is 5 1/4 x 8. Score at 4 and 6. Fold this so that the large portion is glued to the inside and the other sections fold back and forward to make a Z. Use a bone folder to burnish the folds and make sure it all folds straight.
With the card folded shut, you'll see the folded part through the circle on the front. Put glue on this folded part just on the what you see through the circle. Add the white circle right through the front. Half of the circle will adhere and the rest will not.
To decorate the circle, cut three of the stems from Just Jade card stock. These are from the Birds & More dies. You use one inside on the circle and the others will go on the front. Glue one stem across the circle angling up toward the right. Stamp the nest in Soft Suede on Whisper White 2 times and cut. One goes inside on the circle and one on the front. Stamp the bird in Early Espresso. Color in using the Light Smoky Slate Blend and the Light Real Red Blend. Cut. Stamp the eggs in Balmy Blue. The dies will cut out as three separate eggs.
When gluing the nest only put glue at the top. Don't glue below the circle or your card will not open. Leave just enough room at the top of the nest to slip in the bird and eggs. Check through the front of the card to help with placement.
Stamp the saying from Celebrate Sunflowers in Soft Suede.
For the front of the card, add the Just Jade stem from near the circle toward the bottom right. You may need to trim a little from the end, but be careful. The stems can separate. Add the nest matching it to the nest inside. This time glue only the bottom part of the nest. Do not glue over the circle or your card will not open.
Add the stem to the top. I tried to make it match the stem from the inside. This time you will need to cut the stem apart and add. Trim to be even with the circle.
For my 3D item, I used a salt shaker. Fill with bird seed. Using the largest scallop circle from the Layering Circles dies, cut from matching designer paper. Getting this on was the hardest part. I put a glue dot on top of the shaker and folded down the sides. I put glue dots inside some of the folds to hold everything. After getting the Linen Thread tied around in a knot (my husband held it for me), I tied another thread looping it around about three more times and knotted it.
The tag is made from a 2 inch wide piece of Thick Whisper White. Punch the end with the Delightful Tag Topper Punch. You will need the nest, eggs, stem of jade, and two birds this time. Stamp and color the same. Make sure your birds will face each other. Add the stem first and then add the nest with dimensionals. Glue in the birds and eggs. The saying is from the Lovely You set. I cut the friend from part of a saying and glued to the nest.
Trim the tag across the bottom to fit.
Tie the tag to the shaker. Frazzle out the ends. Add a glue dot to hold the tag in place.
Here is a video for you. Hope it clears everything up!
Here are my projects together. Now, who can I give this to?
Thanks so much for your time. Continuing on the hop will be time well spent. I highly suggest it!
