NC Demo Blog Hop for May Saying Good Bye to Painted Harvest

Welcome to the NC Demo Blog Hop for May.  We are all about celebrating our retiring products today.  You might have just come from Tracy's blog or you may just be beginning the hop.  Be sure you visit everyone!  You'll get some great ideas!

Join us blog

I'm going to tell you the truth.  It was hard to pull myself away from the new stuff in order to make a post for today.  I will however miss the Painted Harvest stamp set and the Leaf Punch.  I decided to use these to make a pretty quick little home decor piece using these products.  Here's my project.

NC Blog Hop Painted Harvest Frame in Frame by Jo Anne Hewins

I can't seem to make a good picture with the project in the frame without a lot of glare.  Here it is without the frame.

NC Blog Hop Painted Harvest 6 x 6 Frame by Jo Anne Hewins

The frame is a 6 x 6 shadowbox from Michaels.  I've had it for awhile.  It had material and a spongy layer where the picture would go.  I removed that and added a layer is card board backing from a pack of designer paper.  The background for the wreath is from the Pressed Petals Specialty Designer Series Paper retiring.  Cut a 6 x 6 piece and glue to the backing.

To get my round shape, I got the largest circle from the Layering Circles dies and laid it in the center.  I needed a bigger circle so I put a ring of snail about a half inch out from the circle all around.

The flower is made from three of the flowers from Painted Harvest.  I stamped the more solid stamp in Crushed Curry and the more detailed in Mango Melody.  There's really no need to stamp the center.  All is stamped on Whisper White.  Fussy cut all three flowers.  Adhere all three flowers with a double stack of dimensionals in the center.  Stamp a center in Soft Suede, cut, and add to the top flower.

Spritz everything.  The detail on the flowers will disappear somewhat.  Fold each layer up toward the center separately and let it dry in the up position.  When dry press each layer down a little and arrange it to your liking.

For the leaves I used the Sprig punch, not retiring, in Mossy Meadow and the Leaf punch, retiring, in Old Olive.  Punch a bunch.  I also used Pear Pizzazz and stamped the leaf from the Painted Harvest stamp set in Old Olive in it.  Punch a bunch.

NC Blog Hop Frame Crinkled leaves by Jo Anne Hewins

Crinkle up all of the leaves.

I began adding the Mossy Meadow sprigs all around the snail area all around.  Notice that all of the leaves face in the same direction.  Next I went in and added the Old Olive leaves all around.  I used glue dots to add.  Fold the glue dot so that it doesn't show.  Then fill in with the stamped leaves using glue dots again to add.  For my final step I did add more of the Mossy Meadow sprigs where I felt I needed them.

Add the flower with dimensionals.

The tag is stamped on white scrap in Soft Suede.  Use the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set.  Cut out with the Bouquet Bunch dies.  These are retiring!  The tag automatically has a hole in it.  Add some Linen Thread and pull it up under the flower and add with a glue dot.  Put another glue dot under the tag.

Tie a box wrapping Linen Thread around three fingers about 4 times and then around two fingers about 4 times.  Pull off fingers and adjust so that the loops are centered.  Tie with more Linen Thread.  Add the bow with a glue dot.

That's it.  I think it makes a pretty frame that anyone would love as a gift.

This might look hard, but it really wasn't.  I ask what will we do without the Leaf punch.  That is so sad.  Luckily, we will have the new Celebrate Sunflowers bundle to help us get over the loss of the Painted Harvest stamp set.  The Beautiful Bouquet and the Bouquet Bunch dies will also be missed greatly.

There's only a few days left to get these retiring products if they are still left!  Order today!  See below.

Next up is Jenn.  I know you don't want to miss anyone on the NC Demo Blog Hop today!

Celebrate Sunflowers A Sneak Peek for CCMC

Happy Thursday to you!  Today on the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge, we have a sketch.

CCMC614

I love the challenge of a good sketch.  Here is my card.

CCCM#614 Celebrate Sunflowers by Jo Anne Hewins

I used the new Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set and the Sunflowers dies.  These are available as a bundle beginning June 3rd.

The card base is Thick Whisper White cut to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored and folded at 4 1/4.  Run the front of the card through a die cutting machine and the Tin Tile Embossing Folder.  I love that folder!

The wood look paper is from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper.  It measures 3 x 4.  The leaf paper on the sides is from the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper.  I cut 2 strips that are 3/4 x 2 3/4.  Glue each strip to a side of the wood paper.  Then glue the entire piece to the front of the card.

Stamp the large sunflower from the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set in Soft Suede ink on Whisper White card stock.  Color in the flower with the Light and Dark Mango Melody Blends.  I did use the Color Lifter Blend in some places.  The center of the flower is colored with the Dark Soft Suede Blend.

Stamp the large and small leaves in Memento Black on Whisper White.  Color these in with the Light and Dark Shaded Spruce Blends.

Cut out the sunflower and the leaves using the Sunflowers Dies.

Add the sunflower with dimensionals and the leaves with a glue dot.

CCMC #614 Celebrate Sunflowers by Jo Anne Hewins

Color a 7" piece of the Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding with a Dark Shaded Spruce Blend.  Add a little snail to adhere to the sunflower with the ribbon bent in half.

Stamp the HELLO  from the Forever Fern stamp set in Versamark on a scrap of Mango Melody card stock.  Add White Emboss Powder and heat with a Heat Tool.  Punch with the Classic Label Punch and trim off the ends.  Add to the ribbon with glue dots.

CCMC#614 Celebrate Sunflowers Card by Jo Anne Hewins

This card came together quickly for me and I love how it turned out.  It doesn't always happen that way, you know.

Thanks so much for joining me today.

A Sneak Peek with Forever Fern

I have a simple card for you today.  It's using the Forever Fern stamp set.  This set will be available beginning June 3rd from the 2020-2021 Stampin' Up! annual catalog.  It's one of the Distinktive stamp sets that shows lots of detail just by inking and stamping.

Forever Fern Block Print Project by Jo Anne Hewins

Start with a card base of Shaded Spruce that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  Stamp the leaves around the edges of the card front in Shaded Spruce ink.  I used the same stamp for the whole card.

The next layer is Mint Macaron that measures 3 5/8 x 4 7/8.

The Whisper White layer is 3 1/2 x 4 3/4.  Ink Block D with Mint Macaron ink simply by stamping the block on the ink pad.  Try to make sure that there is even coverage on the block.  Stamp the block directly onto the cardstock.  It will probably stamp a little blotchy.  Hold the block to the paper for a few seconds.

Now stamp the saying HELLO from the Forever Fern stamp set.  Stamp the leaf stems 3 times so that most of it is on the block and some spills over.  Stamp in Shaded Spruce ink.

Attach the Whisper White layer to the Mint Macaron one.  Run a length of the Linen Thread around the bottom of this layer 3 time taping the ends to the back of the layer.  Attach a Linen Thread bow with a glue dot.

Add this layer to the base of the card with Foam Adhesive Strips.

Forever Fern Block Print Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

The inside of the card is stamped in much the same way.  The saying, from Forever Fern, is stamped in the lower corner of the block stamp.  Add three leaf stems.

You'll have this card made in no time!  I haven't used this technique in a long time.  This stamp set seemed to cry out for it!  Thank you for your time today!

Birds and Branches A Sneak Peek

Now that I've gotten my preorder I have been making lots of cards.  I absolutely love using new stuff.  The Annual Stampin' Up! 2020-2021 Catalog goes live soon on June 3rd.  Are you finding it hard to wait?  I'm sure you have been looking at Pinterest and finding cards using the new products.  I sure have.  Today I have a card for you using the Birds and Branches Bundle.  The includes the stamp set and the Birds & More dies for a 10% savings.  Here is my card.

Birds and Branches by Jo Anne Hewins

This card begins with a base of Old Olive card stock that is cut to 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.

The In Good Taste Designer Series Paper is fantastic.  It's a large pack with 24 sheets, 2 each of 12 designs.  You will love these natural woods and tiles with a few little surprises!  Cut the wood look piece to 4 x 5 1/4.

The Birds & More dies cut the circle with greenery.  I used a circle from the Layering Circles to cut it out all the way.  This circle is just barely bigger than the circle with greenery.  Be careful cutting it out.  Glue to the center of the card.

The Whisper White stem of leaves is cut using the Birds & More dies.  Adhere with glue.

Stamp the bird in Early Espresso with the more detailed stamp.  Stamp again in Crumb Cake with the more solid bird.  These stamps are photopolymer so it's pretty easy to line them up.  Cut the bird out with the same dies.  Glue so that he is sitting on the branch.

Birds and Branches Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

The saying is from the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set.  Stamp in Early Espresso ink and then fussy cut around the words.  Add with dimensionals.

The bow is made with Linen Thread.  Wrap the thread around four fingers about 4 times and then around 2 fingers about 4 times.  Pull this carefully from your fingers and center everything.  Twist and then tie together with another piece of the thread.  Add with a glue dot.

Finish off the front of the card with silver Metallic Pearls.

Birds and Branches Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

For the inside of the card, the saying is from the Forever Fern stamp set.  It's stamped in Early Espresso.  Stamp the bird again directly on the insert layer the same as stamped on the front.  Now add a bit of a branch cut out in Old Olive.

Birds and Branches Project by Jo Anne Hewins

I know that you will love the Birds and Branches Bundle.  I have more samples from this bundle that I'll be sharing along the way!

Do you need a catalog?  If you don't already have a demonstrator, please let me know and I'll be happy to send a catalog to you!

Good luck waiting patiently for the June 3rd order date!
