The Ornate Style Bundle in Soft Suede

Today I have two cards to share with you.  They are very similar.

Ornate Style Neutrals Cards by Jo Anne Hewins

I'm using the Ornate Style stamp set and Ornate Layers dies.  These can be purchased as a bundle for a 10% reduction in price.  The possibilities with these are endless.  In fact there is a whole suite of products that go together.  Let's talk about the script card first.

Ornate Style Neutral Script by Jo Anne Hewins

The base of this card is Thick Whisper White.  The Soft Suede script layer is 4 1/8 x 5 3/8.  It's from the Neutrals 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper.

Run a length of the Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding down the center of the designer paper layer.  I used my Grid Paper to make sure the ribbon is centered.  Tape the ends on the back of the paper.  Glue this layer to the front of the card base.

Cut the layer from Whisper White with the Ornate Layers dies.  I will say that with my die cutting machine, I did have to pass this back and forth several times.  Sometimes, you can turn over the die and paper and run it through the machine again if needed.

The area inside the lacy area is 1 1/8 x 2 1/2.    Use the largest flower stamp  from Ornate Style and stamp it in Soft Suede on Whisper White.  I stamped and then cut it to the size I wanted.  Color in the background with a Light Soft Suede Blend.

Add the lacy layer and the insert on top with dimensionals.

The saying is from the Ornate Thanks stamp set.  Punch it with the Classic Label Punch.  Glue to the insert.

Make a bow with the seam binding and add to the card with a glue dot.

Ornate Style Neutral Check Card by Jo Anne Hewins

This card is on a base of Soft Suede that 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  Cut the checked Soft Suede to the same size as the card front, 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  Add the Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding as above.

Cut the lacy layer from Whisper White.  This is a larger one.  The insert for this one is 2 1/4 x 3 5/8.  Stamp the large flower from Ornate Style again in Soft Suede.  Color in the background with the Light Soft Suede Blend as above.

All layers are added with dimensionals.

I used the same saying from Ornate Thanks and punched with the Classic Label Punch.

The bow for this one is a little bigger.

Here's the inside of this card.

The saying is from the So Sentimental stamp set.

I was going for a sepia tone to these cards.  I really love them both.  What do you think?

All Dressed Up Special Fold

Hello to you today.  I hope you are doing well and finding lots to do to occupy your time.  I hope you are working in some stamping.  I'm sharing a card with you that we made in my March classes.  That's back when we could actually meet together.  It seems so long ago!  This card uses the Dressed to Impress bundle.

Best Dressed 2 Point Fold by Jo Anne Hewins

I loved how this card turned out.  I had been wanting to try this fold.  It's really not that hard.

Start with a card base of Lovely Lipstick.  It measures 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.

The next layer is Whisper White.  It's cut to 4 x 5 1/4.  run this layer through the die cutting machine with the Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder.

For the patterned paper, use the Best Dressed Designer Series Paper.  You need 2 pieces cut to 3 x 4.  Score at 1" on the 3 inch side of the paper.  On one piece score from the right and on the other side score from the left.  If your paper is directional you will need to pay special attention to that.  This paper isn't directional from what I could tell.

Use a Bone Folder to burnish the fold and then open it back up.  Go to the opposite side and fold these ends so that they meet at the fold.   They should come to a point.  Do this for both papers.  Glue down the flaps.  Glue the papers to the white layer.  Add glue to the 1" section and glue to the back so that the points are on the front.

Glue the white layer to the card base.

Best Dressed 2 Point Fold Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

Stamp the saying from So Sentimental in Lovely Lipstick.  Use the Stitched Nested Labels dies to cut a white label.  Use the 2nd largest die.

Stamp the flowers from the Dressed to Impress stamp set in Memento Black on white scraps.  I stamped 2 of the single flowers and 2 of the double flowers.  Color with the Light and Dark Lovely Lipstick Blends and the Dark Old Olive Blend.  Cut them out with the All Dressed Up dies.  Use glue and dimensionals to attach.  Use some Tear & Tape on the left of the label to attach to the patterned paper point.  Do not attach the other end.

Best Dressed 2 Point Fold Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

For the inside.  Stamp the birthday greeting with the Sending You Thoughts (SAB) stamp set in Lovely Lipstick.  Cut this out using the 3rd largest Stitched Nested Label dies.  Add another flower.  Glue to the center of the card.  When the top points are closed, it should cover up the center.

I'm afraid that I might not have been very clear.  Look up Stampin' Up! double point card on Pinterest and you'll see lots of examples.  Those directions might be a little clearer.  Thanks for understanding.

I appreciate your time today.  I hope you'll try this fold.  And really, look it up, there are so many samples!

So maybe you are stuck at home and you are doing a lot of card making.  I know you have lots of stuff if you are a card maker, but you just might be running a little low on something.  I can help with that.  I would love to help you!

Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #608 Ornate Style

So good to see you today!  I have a great card today using the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #608 sketch.

CCMC608

I'm using the new Ornate Style stamp set.  Here's the card.

CCMC #608 Ornate Style by Jo Anne Hewins

Begin with a card base of Old Olive that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.

Cut the green (Old Olive) paper from Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8.  Run this paper through a die cutting machine with the Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder.  Glue to the front of the card.

From the same paper pack, use the Pool Party paper for the banner.  I used the Stitched Nested Labels dies to cut the banner.  The die does not go as long as mine on this card.  I had to patch it.  I used the 2nd largest die.  Cut a whole one and a partial one.  Add to the card.  Patch the two together behind where the focal piece will go.  No one will ever know.

CCMC #608 Ornate Style Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

Stamp the large floral stamp from Ornate Style in Memento Black on Whisper White card stock.  Color with blends.  I used Light and Dark Old Olive, Light and Dark Highland Heather, Light and Dark Pool Party, and Dark Mango Melody.  Yes, you will have to fussy cut this.  Just bite the bullet.  It's not really that hard.  Add to the card front with dimensionals.  Be careful to hide the area where you patched the banner.

The saying is from the Seaside Notions stamp set.  Stamp in Memento Black.  Punch out with the Classic Label Punch.  Add to the card.

Color three of the Basic Rhinestone Jewels with a Dark Pool Party Blend.  Add to the card.

CCMC #608 Ornate Style Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

Here's the inside of the card.  The saying is from Seaside Notions in Memento Black.  Add part of the large flower stamp from the corner.  Color the same as on the front.

There is so much you can do with the Ornate Garden Suite.  You can see all about it here.  This suite is an early release.  It will be in the brand new annual catalog that comes out in June.  I have posted quite a few cards showing off this suite.  If you missed them go here, here, here, here, and here.  You can tell that I love it!

Thanks for joining me today.  I know you are busy.  Take care of yourself.  I have to say that my stamping has kept me sane.  I'm so grateful to be able to pass each day doing just what I love.  I also have a wonderful husband to keep me company.  I hope that you are happy and content.  Everything will be OK.  We'll return to some kind of new normal.  I know it.  In the meantime, if I can help you with supplies to make your projects, just let me know.

A Good Man Birthday Card

My son-in-law Robby had a birthday last week.  Of course he gets a handmade card!  This is the card I made for him this year.

A Good Man Birthday Card by Jo Anne Hewins

This card is Robby to a T.  If you have followed me, you know that I am the proud grandmother of Sagan.  She's my only grandchild.  Robby is a wonderful father to her and husband to my daughter Jessie.  I always include a few pics of Sagan at the end of my Tuesday's Timely Tidbits newsletter each Tuesday.  Feel free to subscribe.  I give lots of news, but I think Sagan at the end is the best part.  The A Good Man stamp set is perfect!

This card begins with a base of Pool Party that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.

For the words down the right side of the card front, use the Stamparatus.  The HAPPY BIRTHDAY is from the Perennial Birthday stamp set.  Position this stamp between the top right corner and the first notch on the side of the Stamparatus.  Stamp the saying, then take out the clear plate and put it down a section.  Continue to the end of the paper.  This is called hinge stamping.  Position the Here's to You stamp.  This stamp is from the Seaside Notions stamp set.  Hinge stamp your way down the paper again.  I did stamp in Stazon Black.

Add a piece of Pool Party check paper to the left side.  This measures 7/8 x 5 1/2.  This is from the Subtles 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper.

Stamp the image on a piece of Whisper White.  Use Stazon Black.  Color the image with pencils from the Watercolor Pencils Assortment 1 and 2.  Use a Blender Pen after coloring lightly with the pencils.

A Good Man Birthday Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

Around the outside of the image, I colored with the Light Pool Party Blend.  Cut out with the Stitched Nested Labels dies.  Add to the card with dimensionals.  The saying is from the A Good Man stamp set.  Glue the part that overlaps the label and add a dimensional behind the rest.

A Good Man Birthday Inside of Card by Jo Anne Hewins

Here's the inside of Robby's card.  The saying is from A Good Man and from Perennial Birthday.  The image is from A Good Man.  Color with the colored pencils here too.

A Good Man Birthday Card for SIL by Jo Anne Hewins

This was my first time using the A Good Man stamp set.  I've been waiting for Robby's birthday.  It's so perfect for him.  I bet you know someone who deserves a card made with this set.

Thanks so much.  If you need supplies, I would really love to help you.  I would be honored!
