NC Demo Blog Hop for April 2020 Spring
April 26, 2020
If I have to stay at home for this virus thing, I'm so glad it is spring here in North Carolina. The grass is so green and freshly mowed. We have some azaleas still blooming. The dogwoods are past their prime, but the rhododendron are starting to bloom. Yes, we have a yellow green coating of pollen on everything. The air is full of bits and pieces of nature settling to the ground. Yes, the bugs are out. It doesn't matter. Spring is here! Bring out the grill and cool drinks while sitting on the deck. I'm ready!
The April blog hop is all about spring! You might have just come from Tracie's blog. Great card! You might be starting here. Either way, I'm glad you are here. We all need a little spring in our lives.
My card today uses the Best Dressed 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper. If you love flowers, this paper is for you. It does have the perfume bottles and purses and shoes, but the flowers on the flip side are gorgeous if you aren't into the other stuff.
The background for this card is all the rage right now. It's a perfect way to use up some scraps and add that perfect interest to the card. I must say that is it also fun to do! I've been wanting to try it.
My base is Purple Posy that measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and is folded at 4 1/4. That's standard.
The Blackberry Bliss layer is 4 x 5 1/4.
The next layer is Whisper White. I started with a piece of 3 3/4 x 5. Cut strips of patterned paper that are a little wider at one end. Glue to the card. I did this one at a time but I suppose you could cut a bunch of the strips and add them after. Alternate the wide end from top to bottom of the layer. Leave just a little space. More than likely the strips will extend over the edges of the paper. That's great. Trim after all the strips are attached. I do have a video a little later that might explain the process a little better. Trim this layer so that it is 3 5/8 x 4 7/8. Adhere to the Blackberry Bliss layer.
Color a length of the Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding so that it will go across the card. Color with a Dark Purple Posy Blend. This ribbon goes across the center of the card. I fold the ribbon around to the back and tape. Use your Grid Paper to make sure that the ribbon is straight.
Stamp the saying from Beautiful Moments in Blackberry Bliss on Whisper White. Use the Stitched So Sweetly dies to cut out a banner with the saying near the bottom. Attach to the card with dimensionals.
For the daisies, use Purple Posy card stock. I sponged some Blackberry Bliss ink on the paper using just an up and down motion with my sponge. I wanted more of the tiny dots look instead of a smeared look. Punch out three daisy shapes with the Medium Daisy Punch. Work with each flower holding the center and pushing up from the ends of the petals. It reminds me a little of spider legs. Glue the three together with the petals a little askew. Use 4 of the flower centers from the Poppy Moments dies in Daffodil Delight. Glue the 4 together trying to make the points askew. I learned that these points are not equally distant apart. Fold up the points so that they are standing up and glue the center to the center of your flowers. Play with your flower bunching up here and there on the petals until it's just the way you like it. Again, I do have a video coming up!
Cut two of the solid leaf stems from the Poppy Moment dies in Mossy Meadow. Cut apart the ends and glue to the banner so that they will extend beyond the flower. Glue down the flower. Add a few leaves to the bottom right of the banner.
Color more of the seam binding ribbon in Dark Purple Posy and tie a bow for the bottom right. Add with a glue dot.
Use the 2019-2021 In Color Faceted Dots for decoration.
Add two strips of the Best Dressed paper to the bottom of the inside insert. Trim the edges even. Add the saying from Beautiful Moments in Blackberry Bliss.

I love this technique and it’s on my list to try, it’s just so cool looking and a great use of DSP. The colors you used just scream Spring. And I agree, I’m so glad we can at least get out in our yards and enjoy the outside 😊
