You might be aware that each year Stampin' Up! has 5 new In Colors and 5 In Colors that retire.  This month we are all about the 2018-2020 In Colors that are saying good bye.

2018-2020 In Colors

I love these colors so much.  I sure will miss them.  We do have until the end of May to enjoy them.  Let me warn you though, these colors will sell out before their retirement date.  Our task today is to choose one of these colors and make a monochromatic card.  I am using Lovely Lipstick.

NC Blog To a Wild Rose

This card of course starts with a base of Lovely Lipstick that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.  We are using the To a Wild Rose stamp set.  Stamp around the edges of the front with the detailed flower stamp.  The flower in this set has three steps, an outline, a background, and a detailed stamp.  Stamp in Lovely Lipstick.  It's so much easier to match the stamping of these flowers if you place them on the clear block in the same orientation.  Look for a place that's the same on each stamp and put that at the same place.  For me, I found a petal that juts out on each stamp.  I used that for reference.

Use the Stitched So Sweetly dies to cut a Whisper White rectangle with the largest die.  Now use a sponge dauber to color in the rectangle.  Cut three of the sprigs from the Wild Rose dies.

The next layer is Lovely Lipstick.  Cut it to 2 9/16 x 3 3/4.  Run this layer through a die cutting machine with the Parisian Flourish 3D Embossing Folder.  Glue to the rectangle.  Add these layers to the front of the card with dimensionals.

Stamp the flower on a piece of Whisper White.  I stamped the outline in Lovely Lipstick.  Next the more detailed stamp.  Finally stamp the background stamp.  Stamp this one off on a piece of white first.  Sponge around the outside of the flower.  Cut out the flower with the Wild Rose dies.  Glue the flower.  There will need to be some dimensionals where the flower overlaps the rectangle.

Stamp hello on Whisper White in Lovely Lipstick.  Sponge it.  Fussy cut the saying.  Glue.

For the inside, the saying is from the To a Wild Rose stamp set.  Stamp another flower as on the front and cut out.  Cut a Lovely Lipstick sprig from the Rose dies to add jutting out from behind the flower.  The To a Wild Rose Bundle is a great value with a 10% value.

I also made a card without the sponging.  I'm not sure we can really call this a monochromatic card.  How do you like it?

Such a pretty card, Jo Anne. Lovely Lipstick would have been my 2nd choice for my favorite color. And, I JUST got the stamp set and dies that you used so I hope to play with them soon :)

Frances

Nice card Jo Anne, I will miss Lovely Lipstick!

Sue Root

I like both of your cards, but since you asked, I like the one that's not sponged a little more. I feel like the details stand out more. I also like how you finished off the inside.

Amanda Rhodes

I love the card with the white border the best.

Tina Lesson

Pretty card like the white one especially

Amy

Such a lovely card JoAnn. I sure gonna miss the lovely lipstick.

Tracie Evans Langley

Wow! Your cards are fantastic as always! I can't decide which I like best! I am leaning toward the one with the sponging, but I really like how crisp the white one looks! Thank you so much for sharing!

Sharon B Maranich

Hi Jo Anne! My choice would be the card without the sponging. I'm so in love with those Stitched So Sweetly dies. I think I try to use them on everything I make now.

Laurie Meier

Jo Anne - I love all the layers and textures on your cards! I'll also miss Lovely Lipstick. I think my favorite of your two cards is the one that is not sponged. Thanks so much for sharing!

Nedine

JoAnne, such a beautifully detailed card! I will definitely miss these In-Colors!

Tracy Lewis

Your color on color stamping with the embossing folder make a great base for your card. I love how you decorated the inside.
