Snow Globe Scenes Dies

My card today uses the Snow Globe Scenes Dies and the Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper.  I love how it turned out.

Snow Globe Scenes Bear by Jo Anne Hewins

Start with a card base of Garden Green that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.

The next layer is Cherry Cobbler measuring 3 3/4 x 5.

Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper is used for the next layer.  It is cut to 3 5/8 x 4 7/8.  Use the Cherry Cobbler Diagonal Stripe Ribbon down the center of the Cobbler layer.  Make a knot of the ribbon to attach later.

Cut an oval using the largest oval of the Stitched Shapes dies in Very Vanilla.  Attach to the center of the card.

Cut two sets of trees in Garden Green from the Snow Globe Scenes dies.  Use a sponge dauber to sponge around the trees.  Glue the first set of trees and add the second set with dimensionals.  Add snowflakes using the Snowflake Sequins.

Cut a two large bears and 3 or 4 small ones from Soft Suede.  Sponge around the bears in the same color.  Glue the large bear to the trees.  Add the small ones on dimensionals.

The saying is from the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set.  It's stamped in Cherry Cobbler.  Punch out with the Classic Label Punch.  Add with dimensionals.

Attach the ribbon knot with glue dots.

Snow Globe Scenes Bear Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

Here is the inside of the card.  The saying is from Itty Bitty Christmas.  We made this card in class.  Some were alarmed that the mother had lost a cub.  Add another if you wish!

I have a video showing how to make this card.  I hope you find it helpful.

Thanks so much for joining me today.  If you need supplies, I would love for you to consider ordering them from me.  I would value your business.

Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #589 Stitched Stars

Today for the Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge #589 we have are using  Coastal Cabana, Real Red, and Shaded Spruce.

CCMC589

I decided to use the Stitched Stars dies to make my card.

CCMC #589 Stitched Stars by Jo Anne Hewins

I wanted to show that the Stitched Stars dies are not just for Christmas.

Start with a base of Real Red that measures 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and is folded at 4 1/4.

Cut three sets of the stars in both Coastal Cabana and Shaded Spruce.  You can place the smaller star die inside the larger one and cut at once.  Now cut the scroll die two times from both colors.  You really just want the stars that cut out of it.

Glue the stars down on the card front.  They will stick out over the edges.  That's fine.  Some have Shaded Spruce on the outside and some are opposite.  Turn the card over and snip off the excess card stock.

Add some the extra stars with glue dots.

CCMC #589 Stitched Stars Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

Stamp the saying from Woven Heirlooms in Shaded Spruce on Whisper White.  Cut out with the Stitched Shapes circles.  Add with dimensionals and add a Shaded Spruce star.

Tie Real Red Cotton Ribbon around the card and tie in a knot.

CCMC #589 Stitched Stars Inside of Card by Jo Anne Hewins

Here is the inside of the card.  Use your left over stars and add another saying from Woven Heirlooms.

And now I must tell you that I used Pool Party instead of Coastal Cabana.  I just noticed as I'm writing this.  It's too late to change.  I'm out of town and it's the holidays.  I apologize.  Thank you for understanding!  It would still be pretty with Coastal Cabana.

Thanks so much for joining me today and have a great Thanksgiving holiday!

Yummy Christmas

Recently I traveled on the Symphony of the Seas for a Caribbean Scrap & Paper Cruise put on by Jennifer Gulch.  We had so much fun!  I want to share with you a card that we made on the cruise.

Yummy Christmas by Jo Anne Hewins

The Yummy Christmas stamp set was one that I didn't buy from the Holiday Catalog.  No, I did not buy one of everything.  I wish I could!  The gingerbread house calls for lots of coloring.  It's a lot of fun if you like coloring and if you don't do a lot of them all at one time!

The card base is Crumb Cake that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded at 4 1/4.

Add a layer of the Wrapped in Plaid Designer Series Paper cut to 4 x 5 1/4.  The house looks great on this paper!  The next layer is Crumb Cake that measures 2 1/2 x 4.  Add this layer with dimensionals.

Stamp the house and two trees from the Yummy Christmas stamp set in Memento Black ink on Whisper White.  Use Blends to color.  I used Light Real Red, Light Shaded Spruce, Light Crumb Cake, Dark Daffodil Delight, and Light Soft Suede.

Yummy Christmas Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

Cut the gingerbread house out with the Cuckoo Clock dies.  These are in the Annual Catalog.  You'll have to fussy cut the trees.  Add the house and trees with dimensionals.

The saying is from the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set.  Stamp in Memento Black ink and punch it out with the Classic Label Punch.  Add with dimensionals.

Tie a bow of Linen Thread and add a couple Jingle Bells.  Add with a glue dot.

Welcome to the NC Blog Hop for December!  We are short on numbers, but not on inspiration!  You might have come from Toni's blog.  Wow!  Great project!  If you are just starting, please take the entire hop.  You'll be so glad you did!

Join us blog

I have a sampler for you today!  The frame came from Ikea several years ago and measures 9 x 9.  It is a shadow box.

Christmas Sampler 2019 in Frame by Jo Anne Hewins

It's just hard to take a picture of something in glass, so here it is without the frame.

Christmas Sampler 2019 by Jo Anne Hewins

I'm really proud of how this turned out!  The background is built on a piece of card board.  I used the thick backing from some of our specialty papers cut to size.  The background paper is from the Let It Snow Specialty Designer Series Paper.  Cut it to 9 x 9 and glue to the card board.

Let's go one by one on how to make each square.  The squares are all cut using the second largest square from the Stitched Shapes dies.  The scallop squares are cut from the Layering Squares dies.  All are adhered to the background with dimensionals and to each other with dimensionals.

Christmas Sampler Snow Globe Scenes dies church by Jo Anne Hewins

The square is Night of Navy card stock and the scallop square is Pool Party.  Using the Snow Globe Scenes dies, cut the trees (2 of them) from Sparkle Glimmer Paper.  Cut the church from Whisper White card stock and line on the back with Copper Foil.  Add everything with dimensionals.  Add a star from the Star Design Elements.

Christmas Sampler Christmas Gleaming by Jo Anne Hewins

The square is from the Let It Snow Specialty Designer Series Paper.  The scallop square is Garden Green.  Stamp two of the holly leaves in Memento Black ink on Whisper White.  These come from the Christmas Gleaming stamp set.  Paint the leaves with ink in the lid of your Real Red ink pad or Garden Green ink pad.  Use your Wink of Stella Brush.  Fussy cut and add with dimensionals to the square.  Tie a bow with Linen Thread and add in two Jingle Bells.

Christmas Sampler Playful Penguins by Jo Anne Hewins

The square is Whisper White run through the Brick & Mortar Embossing Folder.  Stamp with the snowflake stamp in Pool Party.  This stamp is in Snowman Season.  Snow was added to the bottom of the square with the Snowfall Accents Puff Paint.  The penguin is from the Playful Penguins stamp set.  Stamp in Memento Black ink on white and fussy cut.  Stamp the hat and scarf in Real Red, fussy cut, and add with dimensionals.

Christmas Sampler Snowman Season

The square is from the Let It Snow Specialty paper and the scallop square is Garden Green.  Add snow to the bottom of the square with Snowfall Accents Puff Paint.  Punch the snowman with the Snowman Builder Punch from Whisper White.  Add the face and buttons using the Let It Snow Embellishment Kit.  Use the puff paint around the features on the snowman.  Mount the snowman on dimensionals and add the scarf and hat from the embellishment kit.  Add the arms, too.

The Merry Christmas is from the Christmas Gleaming stamp set.  Stamp in Real Red on Whisper White.  Cut with the Rectangle Stitched dies.  Add with 2 layers of dimensionals.  Add a star from the Star Design Elements.

Christmas Sampler Snow Globe Scenes dies bear by Jo Anne Hewins

The square is in Pool Party and the scallop square is Garden Green.  Cut two sets of trees from the Snow Globe Scenes dies in Garden Green.  Sponge around with Garden Green.  The bears are cut from Soft Suede and sponged.  Add everything with dimensionals except the first set of trees.  Add snowflakes from the Snowflake Sequins and a star from Star Design Elements.

Christmas Sampler Merry Moose by Jo Anne Hewins

The square is from the Let It Snow Specialty paper.  Stamp the moose in Memento Black ink on Whisper White.  Color with the Light and Dark Crumb Cake Blends.  Use the Moose Punch to punch it out.  Add with dimensionals.  Stamp the hat in memento and the scarf in Real Red.  Fussy cut and add to the moose.  The stamp set used is Merry Moose.  Add snowflakes from the Snowflake Sequins.

Christmas Sampler In the Woods dies by Jo Anne Hewins

The background paper for this rectangle is from the Let It Snow Specialty paper.  Cut it out with the Rectangle Stitched Shapes.  Cut the next larger rectangle in Night of Navy.  The tree is cut from the In the Woods dies.  Cut the tree base and the tree again with the cut outs.  Both are in Garden Green.  Pull out the cut outs and apply Shimmery White Embossing Paste.  Add this using your Palette Knives and clean up everything quickly so the paste does not dry and mess up your utensils.  Allow the paste to dry on the tree.  Add Red Rhinestones and a star from the Star Design Elements.

Christmas Sampler Snow Front by Jo Anne Hewins

The square is from the Let It Snow Specialty paper.  The scallop square is Pool Party.  Stamp two of the trees from Snow Front in Early Espresso.  Cut a Whisper White square and cut off the bottom for the snow.  Stamp the deer from Snow Front in Early Espresso.  Stamp the cottage in Soft Suede and fussy cut.  Add with dimensionals.

For a sampler, just remember when in doubt use dimensionals and lots of them!  You want everything to stay in place.  Thanks so much for stopping by.

Snow Globe Scenes Dies for a WOW Card!

Hello to you today!  I have a very special card for you and a video to show you just how to make it.  Here you go!

Snow globe Scenes Christmas Project by Jo Anne Hewins

I love. love, love this card.  We made it in class and it was a hit!

Start with a card base of Night of Navy measuring 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and folded in half.

The next layer is Seaside Spray and is 4 x 5 1/4.

The final layer is Whisper White.  Using the Snow Globe Scenes Dies cut a hole in this layer for the globe.  Check the distance from side to side and also make sure that you leave room for the base of the globe.  After cutting the hole, run this layer through your die cutting machine using the Swirls & Curls Embossing Folder.

Use a piece of the Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper cut to 3 x 3 1/2 for the background for the snow scene.  Lay the paper down behind the white layer making sure none of it sticks out.  Trace around the hole with a pencil so that you know where to build the scene.  Now without moving that paper turn everything over and trace around the rectangle on the back of the white layer.  This will help you with placement later.

Snow Globe Scenes Card Close Up by Jo Anne Hewins

Build the scene.  For the card in my picture the trees, from Snow Globe Scenes Dies, are cut from the Sparkle Glimmer Paper.  I cut away the center tree because I thought it might take away from the church.  I don't think it would really matter since the trees and church are cut from different papers.  The church cut out in two parts.  Use Copper Foil to fill in the windows on the back of the church pieces.  Glue the pieces together.  Add the church to the scene.  You can glue this or you can add with dimensionals.  If you use dimensionals use a lot to make sure that the church stays in place.  My came loose later.

Take the top layer off of the Snow Globe Shaker Dome and add the white layer of paper over it.  It fits right in place.  Turn all of this over and add some of the Ice Stampin' Glitter and some of the Snowflake Sequins in the well of the globe.  Take off the bottom layer of the globe.  Add the scenes paper making sure to use the rectangle you traced to help you put it into place.  Make sure everything adheres.

Cut the globe base using the wood paper from the Come To Gather Designer Series Paper or the Pressed Petals Specialty Designer Series Paper.  The Copper Foil Sheets are used to cut the fancy design that goes over the wood base.  All are cut using the Snow Globe Scenes Dies.  Glue together and add to the card under the globe.

Add a bit of the Seaside Spray Metallic Ribbon to the card folded back on itself.

The saying is from the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set and is stamped in Night of Navy.  Notch the ends and add to the card with dimensionals.

Punch a star from Copper Foil using the Twinkle Builder Punch and add to the card or add a star from the Star Design Elements.

Snow Globe Scenes Inside by Jo Anne Hewins

Here is the inside of the card.  The saying, in Night of Navy is from the So Many Stars stamp set.  The stars, from the same set, are stamped in the Celestial Copper Ink Pad.  Let that dry just a little.

This may all sound a bit fuzzy, but I hope my video will help you!  Take a look.
